IPhone 3G, Syncing, Backing up & Charging
I went to sync my iPhone last night and the weirdest thing happened, it killed my battery. I didn't think there would be a problem. I was under the impression that it charges when connected to the USB. I even have a powered USB Hub to make sure. Needless to say, I don't think that it completed the backup before the sync. I will never know because I had to plug it into the wall and change it over night because it was dead as a doornail. I also noticed that the battery didn't really charge to full. It was a hair from full after charging all night.
Is any of this normal or should I be taking this straight back to Apple?
Even if it's a powered hub. I would think that would be the same. I've never had a problem with any other type of hardware that was working i.e.: Blackberries, PocketPC's, Palm's, etc....

Music bought on iPhone not syncing back to computer
I recently had to change my hard drive in my MacBook because the computer was no longer responding that it was there. I reloaded my iPhone onto iTunes but for some reason cannot get my music to go back. I was told to make a backup of the phone and then sync it by the people from Apple. I have even tried to transfer the music from the "Store" option on top. The prompt says that my computer is not authorized, but after authorizing it, it still will not work. Any advice? I want to put more music on the phone but am afraid to lose what it on my phone. Help? Thanks!

Iphone not syncing back to Macbook Pro. How to go both directions?
I can sync calendar items (and contacts) from my computer to my iphone, but not in the other direction. I want to be able to do this within itunes. I have noticed that the sync is happening within my mobile me account....but that's not how I manage those items on a daily basis. I need to be able to sync via Itunes the data going both ways (computer to phone and vice versa). Thanks for your help.
Assuming that you don't want to sync either your iPhone or Mac with MobileMe:
iPhone - Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (your MobileMe acct.) > Contacts, Calendars > OFF
Mac - Settings > MobileMe > Sync > uncheck Synchronize with MobileMe
iTunes - Device > Info > Contacts and Calendars - check what you want to sync. Syncing will be bidirectional. -
- I'm having problem to update my current iphone software (3.1.3 version) to the latest version due to my itunes + iphone unable to complete the syncing + back-up process.
- It always crashed + syncing half way and sadly it always happened after waiting for couples of hours (sometimes more than 6 hours).
- I have tried it soooooo many times but again it still disappoint me.What "latest version" are you attempting to upgrade to? The iPhone 3G can use up to iOS 4.2.1; any later version will not install. And you might want to stick with 3.1.3 as many people report unsatisfactory performance of iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G.
If you're sure you want to upgrade, and you're sure you are attempting to install iOS 4.2.1 and not some later version, then try a factory restore operation on your phone first, then try again to update the iOS:

If that doesn't work, you might want to call your local Apple Store to make an appointment at the Genius Bar. They'll probably be happy to help you perform the software update right in the store. If you use a laptop to sync your iPhone, bring that (and the USB charge/sync cable) with you. -
My iPhone 5S won't show up in iTunes to sync. It charges still and it opens iPhoto, but doesn't even register in iTunes. I have no idea what to do and nothing is working!
And the other night while i was trying to sync my phone, it was working until "Error message (-50)" started coming up every time i tried to sync or update my phone's software through itunes on my computer. eventually, itunes quit and i unplugged my phone and updated it wirelessly. i have no idea why any of this is happenings. Itunes is still acting weird for me too.Error -50 is generally associated with firewalls or anti-virus software as described here:

Separately, are you using iTunes 11.1.4? -
4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

My iPhone doesn't sync to iTunes, iTunes syncs back to my phone
I tried to sync my iPhone 3G but instead of syncing all my new songs and folders to iTunes, iTunes synced back to my phone. Lost over 200 songs and all my folders. Use my phone in my fitness classes, all of my folders were set up with my songs for certain classes, at least 6 months of work got lost. Also, I have over 40 apps, non of them shows up in my iTunes store. Very frustrating
Please help, iTunes and iPhone giving me an ulcer and sleepless nights! Can I get my lost folders/songs/apps back? And how can I do that? How can I avoid this happening again?The iPhone, like all iOS devices, is not and has never been a backup device.
If content is missing from the computer, copy it from the old computer or the backup of the old computer.
Not syncing regularly is simply asking for problems.
Devices are easily lost, stolen, or simply fail. In your case, had your device simply failed or been lost you would be out of everything.
Unfortunately, if they are not on the device or in iTunes on the computer they are gone.
The only reason syncing would cause them to "disappear" is because this is not the computer the device is synced with.
I would strongly encourage you to read the User's Guide to better understand how the device is designed to be used. -
I have always used the same laptop for all of my iPhones but awhile back this laptop had a virus so my husband wiped out the laptop and now when I sync my iPhone I no longer receive my entire music library (including purchased songs) on my iPhone. How do I fix this?

Problems syncing back apps from my iPhone (coming from 2 Apple-ID accounts)
Hi. I was previously purchasing my iPhone apps with an OLD Apple-ID.
Some months ago I had to create a NEW Apple-ID (for reasons I'm not going into detail with).
So far so good:
The apps I had purchased with my OLD and NEW Apple-IDs lived happily together on my iPhone and synced perfectly with my MacBook.
…Until now:
I had to reformat my MacBook, and afterwards I tried to sync back the apps sitting on my iPhone. I've logged in and out of both accounts a few times and now, from what I can tell, I'm left with a few random apps from NEW and OLD accounts – and a very large chunk have just disappeared.
Logging out of the NEW account and logging in to the OLD account, then trying to sync my iPhone again, doesn't make any difference: I only have a FEW apps remaining – some of which are new and some are old, i.e. from both accounts (including both free and purchased apps).
I'm thus concerned to know if I've just lost a VERY large amount of purchased apps… and if I've shelved a smaller fortune's worth of cash in the toilet, so to speak.
(Note: prior to formating the MacBook, I stored a backup of the apps in the form of .ipa files on a secondary harddrive. Can I retrieve those files into my new account somehow?)Not sure why your Mobile Applications folder didn't reside at the first level within the iTunes folder. This is where my Mobile Applications folder resides and I'm pretty sure that is the default location for the Mobile Applications folder. I'm not aware there is an option for changing the default location for the Mobile Applications folder.
One big issue remains: the settings & application's saved media didn't seem to stick from my backuped .ipa files when syncing back to the device again. (Or at least not with the one Brushes 1.ipa file in my test.) Are iOS program settings & saved media stored inside each .ipa file, or do you know where it's located otherwise?
3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not stored with the app on your computer. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The iPhone's backup is stored completely separate from the iTunes Media location or folder. -
I want to set up my iphone to sync with my macbook but when I plug it in via USB my iphone doesn't show up under devices in itunes even though it is plugged in correctly and is charging through my computer. How do I get it to show up? I've tried restarting my computer.

I have a 3rd gen Ipod touch. When I connect it to my Macbook pro to sync it with itunes, it doesn't show up on iTunes. When I connect my iPhone 6 to my computer it syncs, backs up, ect. How do I make this older iPod show up on my iTunes?

It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
Try a different USB port.
Try a different USB cable.
Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
Check for an iTunes update.
Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.

My IPhone 5, was backed up and restored. Music doesn't sync, when reconnecting device each time, it only offers restore or new phone rather than sync option. I have reinstalled ITunes but still this hasn't worked. Can anyone help please?
This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

Had 3G, moved to 3GS. Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer. But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything. How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?
Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

i put that i held down the home button and all that... sorry, should of made my message a little clearer hun.. but i did try that, ive been searching video's on the net trying to figure out how to fix the problem, but nothing seems to be working... ive just tried pluging the usb lead into my phone while holding the home button then connecting it to my computer to see if itunes fires up, but even that didnt work... i dont know what else to try.
