IPhone 4 Sprint lost/stolen

On Sunday I lost my iPhone 4 and am pretty sure it got picked up off the ground and is in somebody elses hands. i found out about twenty minutes later I was missing my phone, and immediately went onto my laptop and started up icloud to use Find My iPhone to locate it, and it said it was "offiline". I have a serial number and all other information regarding my phone. I was also told with Sprint, since there is no sim card, that if anyone brings it to a sprint store to use it, it will be flagged upon activation.
What other percausions should I take? I deactivated my phone and it has been autolocked by icloud, and I have sent a few messages and played sounds on occasion hoping it would haven a safe return. Should I have any hope of getting this phone back?

Probably not. Sorry. You've reported it to Sprint, you could notify the police, but it's doubtful they would take any action.
It would be a good idea to change your passwords.

I know I can set an auto lock with 4 digit code. I wonder what good will that do if someone has the phone (lost/stolen). Can't they plug it into iTunes and do a "restore"? Or somehow crack the code and steal all my info.

Someone would need to get lucky with guessing your 4 digit passcode so a good idea to not use something like 0000 or 1111 for your passcode.
Someone can connect a iPhone to iTunes that is not their iPhone and restore the iPhone as a new iPhone, but they won't be able to access any of your data unless they get lucky in guessing your passcode or spend a great deal of time going through every possible combination.
The only thing you can do is use a passcode and if your iPhone is lost or stolen, call AT&T immediately to report it. If you know your iPhone was stolen, you should also report this to the police.

well I have a problem, I recently bought an iPhone 6+ from AT&T but it had already been unlocked by them it was usable in any carrier, but the guy who sold it to be reported it lost, and it's now in the blacklist, and I can't use it with my AT&T SIM card, my question is, is the phone worthless now? And if it's possible that it still works with another carrier i will be moving to Mexico and I wonder if I could use it over there, thanks.

If the insurance company replaced the phone, the old phone will belong to the insurance company if it is found. The insurance company should have notified AT&T when the loss was reported so AT&T can blacklist the phone's IMEI number. Maybe they did and it takes a few days for the blacklist.
The original owner should take back the phone and contact the insurance company. They may want one of the phones back. In any case, it isn't yours.

If the "Find My iPhone" was enabled in your iCloud Settings on your phone - it does not matter if you had the "App" on there or not. It will report, if it has not been deleted / restored / etc.
Have you tried logging into http://www.icloud.com and see if your device is listed? If it is, then place your phone into "Lost Mode" and put a phone number where you can be reached.

How do you wipe (destroy) all content on your iphone if it is lost/stolen? I haven't lost my iphone, but I want to know how if it is lost or stolen.
I know this is possible because I watched the keynote address of Steve Jobs and he explained that since the iphone has the capabilities of syncing with your computer remotely, you have the power to completely wipe your iphone clean if it is lost/stolen, yet I have not seen any information anywhere on how to do this. Obviously I can't plug it into my computer to wipe it clean if it is lost/stolen, so how do you do it remotely?

Just restore the phone in iTunes and set it up as a new phone.

Have backed up your iPhone with iTunes to a computer? Then you can restore a replacement iPhone from this backup, and this with also restore the camera roll. The iTunes backups will contain the camera roll.

Sorry, no. If your carrier offers Blacklisting, that will make the phone unusable as a phone, in your country. Otherwise, there's not much you can do other than hope the police recover it.

So my girlfrien did it, she lost the iPhone 4S I just gave her a few weeks back, running iOS7.03 with an icloud account set up, but with localisation features disables (She's paranoid on being tracked).
I had Prey installed on it as well, but I'm not getting any reports from them.
So the question is fairly simple : with the proper identifications, is there any way to activate the "Find my phone" features remotely ?
I think I'm going to kill her ;-)

these features, like find my iphone on a map, lock my iphone, play a sound on my phone, will be exeecuted the very next time it goes online. so if you put your iphone in lost mode, and its turned off... and someone changes the sim on it.. the very next time it connects, it will be locked, and tell you where it is..
with the old find my iphone the phone had to be online to be located.
with the new find my iphone .. i think this was in ios 6.. the phone responds to all find my iphone requests the very next time it connects.
dont wipe it remotely unless you are sure you can't get it back, because it disables tracking
if you wipe it remotely, the iphone will be bricked and be pretty much useless to anybody that finds it. i think it will still show a messagee on the sreen saying this iphone has been lost please call me.. etc. etc..
