Iphone 4S and Apple Mac

I have just purchased an Iphone 4S. When I plug into my Apple Mac the phone is not recognised on Itunes. All I get is an error message saying that the Iphone needs to have Itunes Software version 10.3 or higher. It doesn't recognise the phone to check the software on the Mac.
If I plug it into my windows laptop then it says that the software is version 6 and that this is up to date.
Any ideas how I get the phone software to work on the Apple Mac ?

iTunes 10.6.1 will not sync to an iPhone running iOS 6, as all new iPhones now do. Upgrade to iTunes 10.7 or iTunes 11 and see if that corrects the problem.
Regards.

  • 18000 and 200gb of iCloud storage how do i up load to iCloud and view them across my iPhone iPad and apple tv?

I have 18000 photos and i have to signed up to 200gb of iCloud storage how do i up load to iCloud and see them across my iPhone iPad and apple tv?
I have dragged my entire library over to the iCloud icon on the left side menu bar on my iMac iPhotos.
i have also signed into iCloud.com but can only see recent few photos taken today on my iPhone and when i have gone to import i can not import for my iPhotos app?
How do i get these to the cloud to view across my devices?
What settings do i need to use on my iPhone and iPad?
Or is iCloud not the best way to store and view my library?
    Thanks Spud

    You are a bit early.
Wait for a few month.  iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and the Photos.app for Mac are being beta tested now and will be available soon on your Mac. Then you can store your photo library in iCloud and keep optimised versions of your photos on your Mac locally, with the full sized versions in iCloud. And all your devices will be able to access the photos in iCloud.
See Apple's preview of the new Photos for Mac:  http://www.apple.com/osx/photos-preview/
Fill your library, not your device.
iCloud Photo Library can help you make the most of the space on your devices. When you choose "Optimize Mac Storage", it stores all your full-resolution photos and videos in iCloud in their original formats, while keeping storage-saving versions on each device. When you make an edit, the original image will download automatically. You get 5GB of free storage in iCloud — and as your library grows, you have the option to choose a plan for up to 1TB.
and also:  Photos for the Mac Is Clean, Fast, Connected — and Unfinished
The iPads and iPhones can already do it, but the Mac can only access this library using the web interface,  see:  iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ
Use the time, till Photos will be released, to consolidate your photo library. Get all places and faces tagged, all keywords, titles,  and ratings ready, duplicates removed, events and albums well structured, and when Photos will be released, you can simply let it migrate the iPhoto or Aperture library to iCloud Photo Library.  Enable "Optimize Storage" and you will be able to have the bulk of your photos in iCloud.

  • What is my best option for synchronizing tasks (to-dos)/calendars on my iPhone with an Apple Mac?

I currently have an iPhone 3GS (will upgrade to 5 when available) and Windows XP PC (soon to be retired!) and happily sync my to-do's/calendar between Appigo To-do/iphone Calendar on my iPhone and MS Outlook 2007 on my PC.
Looking ahead I want to buy a Mac of some kind but before I do so, I'd like to try and find answers to the following questions.
1.) What are my options for synchronizing tasks / calendar on my iPhone with an Apple Mac?
2.) Which is recommended as the best?
3.) Which options should I avoid?
    Thanks in advance!
    Mark

    You have 2 options:
    1)  Ensure in all cases "store email on the server" is set.  I suspect on one device it's not set.
    2) (preferred IMO) On all devices, set option to bcc: yourself to true.  This way you always get all the emails and can file them via IMAP, and they'll be everywhere (with mail headers which preserves sent date.  "sent messages" often DOES NOT preserve the sent date)

  • Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac?

Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac? I don't mean both at the same time. I just think it's silly to buy a separate headset for each. I'd like to be able to sometimes use the headset with my Mac and other times use it with my iPhone. Is this possible? How hard is it to set up and is it annoying to switch over from one to the other.
The headset would be used 75% of the time with my iPhone.

Contacts can be synced direct with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 via the iTunes sync process along with syncing calendar events, notes, and reminders. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If you don't use Outlook for contacts - your Outlook address book is empty, before the first sync for this data enter one contact in the Outlook address book. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data.
Or if your iPhone 4 is running iOS 6, you can create your hotmail account using the hotmail account preset with the iPhone's Mail app per the instructions included with this link. If your iPhone 4 is not running iOS 6, you will need to manually create the account as an Exchange account.
    http://www.wikihow.com/Sync-a-Hotmail-Account-on-an-iPhone
Regardless if you have any contacts available in your hotmail online address book, you should be provided a merge prompt when turning contacts on for over the air syncing with your hotmail account settings on the iPhone, which you want to select. This will merge your existing iPhone contacts with your hotmail online address book and merge your hotmail online address book with your iPhone contacts.
To have the contacts available on the iPhone 5, create your hotmal account with the Mail.app on the iPhone 5 followed by turning contacts on for over the air syncing with the account settings on the iPhone.
Or after syncing your iPhone 4 contacts direct with your Outlook address book, sync your Outlook contacts with the iPhone 5.

  • I just purchased an Apple TV.  I have a pc running windows 7.  It is connected to a router and the router is connected to a wireless router.  I connect my iPhone, iPad and apple tv to wireless network but do not know how to put the pc on the wifi network

I just purchased an Apple TV.  I have a pc running windows 7.  It is connected to a router and the router is connected to a wireless router.  I connect my iPhone, iPad and apple tv to wireless network but do not know how to put the pc on the wifi network so the Apple TV can do home share.

I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked.  To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open.  It also needs to be on the same network.  My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not.  He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band.  Hope this helps.

I have an iPhone, iPad and a Mac desk top. What do I need to do to continue my iCloud ?

The iCloud settings for the computer and other devices are in the iCloud preferences in System Preferences. If you open iTunes with your iPhone connected to the computer, select the iPhone under Devices in iTunes' sidebar, then click on the Info tab in iTunes' main window. Look at the various items you see listed. Be sure to check the Mail component for your GMail account because it is not an iCloud mail account. Your Calendar and Contacts components should state that they are being synced by iCloud.

  • How do I add music to the cloud from PC to my iPhone, iPad, and Apple tv?

How do I add music to the cloud from PC to my iPhone, iPad, and Apple tv?

icloud does not handle music, except for letting you download music you previously bought at the iTunes store.  For music, get it into iTunes on your PC, then connect your devices to the PC and using iTunes to sync it to them.  Not sure about Apple TV.  I think that might require buying a subscription to iTunes Match.

  • HT1687 Anyone know how to reset my iphone vm password while in Canada and not turning on cellular so I don't get charged for roaming? Verizon says its an iphone issue and Apple says to contact my carrier?!

Anyone know how to reset my iphone vm password (so I can listen to my messages) while in Canada and not turning on cellular so I don't get charged for roaming? Verizon says its an iphone issue and Apple says to contact my carrier?! I don't want to pay for roaming and I am able to use my phone fine and also connect to wifi while at friend's houses etc.

It's not a Verizon reset - under General and phone there is a place to reset my password however I can't do it without cellular turned on.

  • My Iphone 4 and my mac are suddenly synching without stop, on I tunes. Any ideas about what to do? This can last for hours.

Just today, when synching my iphone 4 with my mac, on itunes, I realized that it was not every completing the synch. On the progress bar on itunes it would get to step 2 of 4, and with either contacts of calendar, would just go on and on until I canceled the synch. Any ideas about what I can do?

    Your profile   v10.5.6
You need to be running v10.5.8.

  • Iphones, icloud and apple id's with a family of 3 users--HELP!

I (Mom) have an iphone 5 and I have 2 sons with iphone 4's, we also have apple tv in our home. Right now we are all tied to the same apple id and also to 1 itunes account. Also, my icloud is no longer backing up because somehow my old iphone 4 (now my son's phone) is still dumping into my account. I feel like I need to start from the beginning but I can't find the info on the help pages. My boys are old enough to buy and manage their own accounts but then what about all the stuff on itunes that they like and I don't want on my phone. Also, I have books in itunes that they don't want on their phones. There should really be a section for Mom's trying to set their families up with apple correctly! Can anyone help??
    Main questions:
How many apple id's do I need (2 kids with iphone 4, 1 iphone 5, husband with apple id)??
icloud--I have no clue about this? Why does it need an email? Should we all have these? How do I keep them separate so they don't cause the account to be full?
itunes--how to I split this up for my family? What accounts should we open? Delete?
apple tv--Does it need it's own apple id?

  • Apple Id for Mutiple devices (IPhone / IPAD and Apple note book)

is it preferable to ahve the same apple ID and email address for both my divices  (IPhone and my Apple book computer ?) or it is recommended to have a seperate one for each device ?

Yes it is preferable to use only one Apple ID for al Apple devices you own. In fact I think it is mandatory. Otherwise you can't sync all devices with iCloud and sign into the respective App stores at the same time.
Having more than one Apple ID becomes extremely confusing for you and Apple.
