My rear camera stopped working after instaling iOS 7.0.4

I usually hear about this when the user has done an over-the-air software update. The only way to back out of it is through a DFU.
Connect to a computer with internet access and the latest version of iTunes.
Press and hold both the sleep/wake button and the home button for ten seconds.
After ten seconds, continue holding the home button, but let go of the sleep/wake button.
The iPhone should go dark and you should see a popup on the computer. If there is no popup and the iPhone shows the Apple logo, you can immedeately try again.
Follow all of the popups and a new version of iOS will be installed.

No. You can get an out of warranty replacement or buy a new phone. A an out if warranty replacement will be cheaper than buying a new one.

Does any one know what is wrong with my iphone 4 camera not working?

when I use my Iphone and want to take a picture I cant because often times my camera on the back doent work and when it does I cant get the selfie camera to work at all. I like using my camera on my phone I am an avid camera user because I am a part time photographer. But I cant use it at all I have done all the resets there are available I have put it in DFU mode and erased everything and hoped that this worked but not relief. I did this only 8 times and still doenst work does anybody out there have this same problem and think it may be hardware related because I am about to have someone (apple ccertified) open it up to see if it is the camera ribbon cable that might be loose. Is anyone else upset with this issue if they have it? I know I am.

TS4436 iphone 5 camera not working

iphone 5 camera just wont open shutter

Had the exact same problem with my iphone 5. Took it to Genius bar and was told that it was due to a camera software bug, not a hardware problem.
The phone had to be reset, restored, and configured as a NEW PHONE. The camera function came back and is now working. The key thing they said is NOT to restore from a backup since it will just copy the bad software which will cause the problem to come back. Once configured as a new phone, just sync your apps and backed up data. The only item that you'll loose is your text messages. Those will be forever gone.
Hope this helps since it took me 3 days to get this resolved.

It was working at at unboxing. The Camera works just fine.
However, I upgated my iOS to the most recent version iOS 8.0.2.
As of Today, the second time i pull up my camera it is not working but showing up a black screen.
Failed to take any photos nor videos.
In the app of Instagram, it says something like Camera failed to launch, please try again.
Anyone has similar experience and solution to share?

HELP Iphone 5 camera not working.

I just got home and my iPhone 5 (verizon) came from fedex. I started to set it up. The camera is not working. I just tried ressetting it. It did not work. I turned it on and the rear camera works, but as soon as I switched to the front face camera it just stooped working. The shutter is close and it will not open and I cannot return to the rear camera.

I had a same problem. Tried everything and it didnt work. Then I've installed flashlight app from Appstore, turned it on for a few seconds, then I've went in camera and it worked. I suggest you guys do the same. Hope it will help you too.

after updating my phone to the 2nd iOS7, a week or so later my camera has completely stopped working. After looking all over these discussion pages I've tried EVERYTHING except erasing the phone & restoring it. other than that, NOHTING has worked!!! I've read where this is a "hardware" issue? I don't know for sure. My flashlight is also not working at all!! I want to take it to the iPhone store, but my screen has 2 small cracks at the top. taking it "out of warranty" so I have read. and that it will be aroud $230 for a new one, cheaper than what I have paid, YES! but... is that a set price?? or do they have certain prices for certain damages? I just need some answers!!!!

I had the same problem it's definitely a software issue because the camera would sometimes work in camera apps but now I could not switch cameras at all.
I may have found a solution of course I probably won't get credit for thanks to Apple.
I believe the problem arises from a bug when the camera is used in lock mode, try restarting your phone with the home and power button. Then open your camera in locked mode and set the flash to auto. Maybe take a few pictures, switch the camera back and fourth, turn HDR on and off, but make sure the flash is set to auto before you unlock the phone. Heck even try playing with the flashlight.
After I did this in locked mode to my surprise my camera and flashlight are now fully functional after I have unlocked it with the password. I'm not to sure what triggered this bug but when I first got iOS 7 and played with my phone some how I unlocked the lock screen without putting in a password. Just by using the camera and the notification and control Center, I unlocked the phone which might of triggered the bug.

IPhone 4 Camera Not Working

Hi everybody! This past Feburary I received my brand new iPhone 4. In the beginning the camera worked frequently whenever I opened it. Now when I used camera it doesn't even work. The shutter sometimes won't open or of they do it'll be completely black. I've closed all my apps and even restored my phone but nothing works. If I open the camera app it will turn off my phone completely. Nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure what the problem could be. Any help is appreciated!

IPhone 4S Camera not working at all since last update

Please Help!!! I use my iPhone camera as my primary camera and so does my wife. We are both having the exact same problem. No matter which way we try to use our cameras, whether through text messaging or directly from the camera app, when the camera starts up the screen is black. I try to kill the app and then restart it and on restart it appears to be fine, but when i click the shutter button to capture the pic the app crashes and takes me back to my home screen.
I've tried restarting my phone and nothing works. Please fix this bug or tell me what to do!

This is a user-to-user tech support site. Your problem is not a "bug" - it's in your phone.
Try basic troubleshooting steps as needed:
1. Double click the home button to show the recently opened apps. Slide the preview screen of the Camera app up to close it.
2. Reset phone (no data loss): press both the home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
3. Restore the iOS using iTunes, also restoring a backup
4. Restore the iOS as new, without using a backup
5. If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware failure that requires evaluation by Apple or an Apple authorized service center

Advice please, I purchased an iPhone 5 16gb from a friend. She assured me it was in very good working order. It had been reset. After adding my sim & downloading all contacts apps etc from Icloud all seemed ok until I tried out the camera ! The forward camera was ok but the outward one had a black screen after pressing the screen a few times a blurred screen showed, no buttons would activate. Out of frustration and pressing the screen randomly the camera came on and I managed to take a couple of shots. All short lived !! It has reverted back to the black or blurred screen. Could it be a software problem ? All help gratefully received.

I have this same problem and I am so frustrated!! I just updated to 8.1.3 and one day later my camera has this issues. Freakin' incredible.

Have you tried a battery pull? If the issue is still there, you can either take it to the store or downgrade your software to the previous version to troubleshoot.

Apple 4 camera not working

My iphone 4 camera not working it opens afters closing 2-3 times before but its can not open now i totaly reset,restore,formet and change software version but still now its not open that is 5-6 month now please tell me what to do now

There is no Apple here, this is a user to user forum. When you said you restored, then you restore as NEW?
If you restored as New and still the problem persiist, then it time to take a trip to the Apple store.
