IPhone Mail Issues - Possibly Post 3.1.3 Upgrade Issue?

My iPhone mail display is doing something strange & I haven't seen this before. When I open my iPhone Mail application, the Inbox displays as "Inbox (19)", suggesting that there are 19 messages somewhere in the Inbox. Yet I have deleted all of the messages visible in the Inbox. I used to allow it to display up to 200 messages but have changed that to 25 messages. When the message at the bottom of the Inbox shows up "Load More Messages", I tap on it & nothing happens. Since it is sitting right next to my MacBook, I know for a fact that all of the mail on the MacBook has also been viewed and/or deleted on the iPhone and yet it still thinks that there are 19 messages in the Inbox. I've done a hard reset at least 3 or 4 times, including once while on the phone with AT&T. How do I get rid of the number in parentheses behind the word Inbox? It's driving me nuts! It seems to be the only thing that is doing strange things other than the screen freezing from time to time.
I've never done a Restore & am unsure that I can be sure that my data is backed up in iTunes. Does this happen everytime I sync & will I be able to bring it back?
Thank you!

Welcome to the discussions,
Before you restore from a backup, you could try to delete the mail account on the phone and manually set it up again afterwards, or use the "replace account info on iphone on next sync" option in the Info pane in iTunes, advanced section.
You can back up manually without syncing if you right click on the phone in the device list and choose "backup". Same with "transfer purchases".

The mail on my iPhone is no longe working. I can see the emails, but the program quits after 30 seconds. I can't delete email or reply to email. I have tried to restart my phone multiple times, I have tried to sync my phone, and I have tried to update the software. Nothing seems to work

You likely have a corrupt email in your iPhone Inbox or on the server. Try cleaning your Inbox from another email client, i.e. webmail on a computer and/or try deleting and recreating the mail account on your iPhone.

  • IPhone mail issue

Does anyone know why is it that sometimes when I compose an email and get ready to send it, the screen goes black and my email disappears?? I end up having to retype the WHOLE email again and its getting frustrating...

When that happens (with any app) that is the application "crashing".
You may want to read this thread. I have found doing a real reboot at least once a week stops crashes from happening (at least for me).

The longer the OS goes, it appears memory leaks or other issues slowly grow and one will find applications crashing regularly.

  • E-mail issue POP on iPhone 5

I purchased my wife an iPhone 5 as a Xmas gift which she is very happy with and getting to grips with, however we seem to have an e-mail issue!
Basically her new iPhone has every single email she has ever recieved since opening her email account 5 years ago (yes all 3500 of them!)
We don't understand as on her laptop everything is as it should be when viewing her inbox i.e. just currant mails displayed.
Any help would be appreciated, as it will take forever to delete all her old mails.

  • Transaction type ZGC not possible (posting to affiliated company) in ABSO

    Hi all,
    We have depreciation areas 01, 30, 31, 32 .
dep area 30, 31, 32  inherits the values from 01.
We want to post credit value to dep area 01 after doing the aqusition .
Hence we created a seperate transaction type ZGC ( in aqusitions- Tcode AO73) and limited it to dep areas 01, 30, 31, 32.
Transaction type ZGC is having credit and " do not post to affliated company " radio button is selected.
Now the issue is when we run ABSO to do a credit post in dep area 01 we are getting the below error .
Transaction type ZGC not possible (posting to affiliated company)
    Message no. AA390
    Diagnosis
For the current document, you specified either implicitly (via the customer/vendor), or explicitly (with a manual entry), that this posting is to an affiliated company. In this case, Asset Accounting requires you to use special transaction types.  This enables the system to separately identify such transactions.
    Procedure
Check the line items that you have already entered, and the transaction type you entered.
Not sure why it is asking for affliated company .
It will be great if any one help on this why we are getting this issue.

    Hi Daya,
Please try to choose Trans.Type 100 in AO73 transaction code and select the radio button  Post to affiliated company under Posting type.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

  • Reg iPhone Mail App (downloading of emails)

    Hi,
Does iPhone download the entire email when we check for emails?
    Scenario:
    - Open iPhone mail app
    - receive 10 emails
    - open the email to read the contents
    - get ‘loading’ icon..seems as if that’s when it’s trying to get the email
    - the contents received in few seconds depending on the email
    - move on to next email…and see the same loading icon
Is it that mail app downloads just the headers and the content is downloaded when you actually open that particular email? Ideally, I would like the email to be downloaded completely to my phone…this way I can quickly check my emails and move across the messages.
I believe Blackberry works differently where the entire email is downloaded and only attachment is downloaded when you try to access it.
    Thanks,

I have just received the new iphone 4th generation. I have a data plane for 200mb per month.
My question is wether iphone downloads the whole email message or if it downloads only the headers? If it downloads the whole message, can I opt for only the headers?
It seems from the first day of use it downloads all messages including the attachments and thus my data usage is huge. In my old Nokia phone only when I required to read the email it will go ahead to download the whole message-is this possible with iphone?
    Marios.

  • Mail app receive my mails always late comparing my iPhone mail app why ?

mail app on my new MBP haswell on mavericks receive my mails always late comparing my iPhone mail app why please ?

There are issues with Mavericks Mail but only for some people. Worst on Exchange, but remember this is not "push" mail.  It will never be as fast as Active Sync push.
For $1.99 try Airmail app, see if it is any faster. For me it is faster. If you rely heavily on 'On My Mac' folders then Airmail needs another release (in Beta currently) to support them properly, otherwise it is a very good app..

  • IPhone Mail.app does not sort mails by date

I've just copied about 3000 old mails from a POP3 account to my Gmail account (IMAP). This was done through OS X mail.app, which just works perfect both in the OS X Mail.app and in the Gmail web interface.
The problem is that the Mail.app on my iPhone seems to sort the mails by some kind of mail ID so all the copied mails appears first in the Mail.app. I can't find any way to sort the mails by their date, which I guess will solve the problem.
If there is missing importing information about the problem please let me know so I can supply with more information.

This is a known issue with gmail. I found this in their FAQ:
"Messages uploaded or copied into Gmail using IMAP may display the wrong date in your inbox or other labels."
    See http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=82365&topic=12922
Apparently "The correct dates should appear in conversation view." applies only to web browsers and not the iPhone Mail app.

  • Iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing???

Anyone seeing this issue?  Advice re how to fix?
My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing.  That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates.  I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it.  After restarting it the mail flows again.
    Notes:
    a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
    b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
    c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOS

I have this same problem too.  I have both a hotmail and work Microsoft Exchange account setup on my iPhone and have intermitent issues with both.  Sometimes the hotmail push works, but my work email doesn't push, other times it's backwards, and sometimes neither work.  I can't figure it out.  Usually restarting the app (closing out of the multitasking bar), and/or going into settings and disabling the affected mail account works.  And to top it, I have an iPad, I'll hear the mail chime go off on my iPad, expecting it to go off on my phone....and it never does, not until I manually fetch it.
    Very frustrating.

I have iPhone 4.  I don't want to upgrade to iOS 7 because people have had issues with that.  Is there a way I can just upgrade to iOS 6?

No, it is not possible. When upgrading the iOS on the phone, the only one you can install is the latest version, which for the iPhone 4 is iOS 7.0.4.

  • Can iPhone Mail redirect mail to subfolders like the Apple desktop Mail app

In my Mail app on my computer, I have Rules set up so that certain emails from various people get moved to a few different subfolders I have set up. However, in my iPhone, they all come to my primary email address. Is there any way to make iPhone mail behave and redirect certain emails to subfolders? I belong to a few beta test groups and the amount of email is staggering, so I've rather have these emails redirected. Any advice? Thanks.

No - the iPhone does not include a rules feature to sort recieved messages by category, and you can't create mailboxes with the iPhone's Mail client. The iPhone's Mail client is a compliment to the email client used on your computer for accessing the account, not a replacement for.
With an IMAP account along with storing all user created mailboxes on the server for sorting recieved messages by category, all server stored mailboxes will be available with the iPhone's Mail client and kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account. If you keep the Mail.app on your Mac launched and running, any sorting of received messages to user created server stored mailboxes based on rules with the Mail.app on your Mac will be reflected automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client. This is not possible with a POP account.

  • Mail changes HTTP POST to HTTP GET in HTML attachments?

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm using an encrypted e-mail system from Voltage Security (www.voltage.com) and my co-workers swear it used to work on the iPhone prior to iPhone 2.0 firmware.
The way the system works is that it sends encrypted content as an HTML attachment. The recipient opens the attachment, clicks the button, and the browser will then POST the encrypted content back to the server so that the server can decrypt it and display it as output back to the browser.
The problem is that the iPhone mail application appears to be mangling the attachment and changing the SUBMIT type on the HTML FORM from POST to GET. This totally breaks the system since the server is not expecting a GET and of course, it doesn't have the information necessary.
There doesn't appear to be a setting to disable this behavior. Is anyone aware of a work-around to prevent Mail on the iPhone from mangling the attachments in this way? Mail on OS X does not behave the same way. The attachment is left in tact on OS X and properly POSTs through the browser (at least when using Firefox as the default browser).

Yes, but it does not work.

  • More Apple Mail Issues

We have been using Apple Mail at our school for some time with few problems. We use it as the link to an outside POP3 service. Recently, as with so many other users, we have begun to have serious issues with crashing, loss of messages and issues with both sending and receiving at times. A new one has developed now. Disk Warrior was run recently and seemed to have had decent results. Upon closer inspection, it has apparently altered the modification dates of many user files and folders, as well as mail files (all to the same date: April 1, 1976). Now with mail, users are finding the message: 'The message from <[email protected]> concerning "(subject") has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.' The account is already online. I'm not sure if this is a result of the Disk Warrior intervention, or if it is a continuation of Apple Mail issues, or both. Also, users click on one message, and another displays. If you scroll through your messages, continuous crashes occur, and sometimes all messages disappear. Fortunately, with our mail service (Gaggle), we can retrieve messages directly online.
The issues do not occur in Entourage, and I am testing a couple of other mail applications as well. So it is definitely an Apple Mail problem. I have tried many of the fixes I have seen in other posts, but with no success. Running Disk Utility or Tech Tool has no effect. Our solution for now is to just not use Apple Mail - which our users are use to.
I will be curious to see what solutions come out. This is a serious issue for many users.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Iphone mail (ios6) replies from default account instead of alias recipient

    Hi.
Since upgrading to ios6, iphone mail replies from my default account instead of the alias address that the email was originally sent to.
Prior to this upgrade, iphone mail would reply to the address that the email was sent to.
All alias addresses are present, and i can change teh sent from address to the alias manually.
If i reply to the same email from icloud.com, the email is sent from the alias address it was sent to, not the default account.
I tried turning mail off and back on, but the problem remains.
Please let me know if there is a new setting i have to look for, or if anyone else has solved this problem.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem, and was about to start a discussion on it when I saw your post.  I'm assuming that you're using iCloud, like me.
Things changed in iOS 6 regarding Mail settings, but I still think the behaviour you and I are seeing should be considered a bug.  Under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud > Account > Mail, you should see that there's a new setting that allows you to:
Choose a default address to use when sending from your iCloud account.
To confirm that you and I are experiencing the same problem, can I ask you to confirm that the default address chosen here is the default address that is being erroneously used as the "From:" address when replying to emails sent to aliases? If it is, you should probably make doubly sure that this setting is the cause of the behaviour you're seeing by changing it to one of the aliases you've created, and seeing whether this becomes the "From:" address for new replies.
Please post back with the results of this, and we can go from there.  If you're seeing this behaviour too I think I'll report it as a bug to Apple.

  • Sender Verification Number e-mail issue.

I have tried to e-mail photos through adobe e-mail and the system send me a notice that I need to use a "Sender Verification Number" that has been sent to my email address.  However, when I check my e-mail there is no e-mail message.  How do I get the verification number.  Adobe does have my e-mail address on file.

Tried this and it still not working.  Also, Get a message that some of the  files are not photos even though they are all photos from the same camera.  Could it be that Norton 360 is causisng this?  Thanks for your help.
