(iPhone SDK) is there a way to tell the _size_ of the touched area?

I have an app idea that would require me to be able to tell not just where you touch your finger on the screen but how big of an area is being touched. I know this is not possible using the official SDK but is there a way perhaps using some private frameworks? I am sure some part of the hardware knows about this so there ought to be a way. If anyone knows, would be greatly appreciated.

Settings > General > About >  Look for ''Capacity'' and ''Available'' under ''Application''. It should tell you how many GB there is available on your iPhone.
If you want to clean it completly to sell, you just need to go in Settings > General > Reset (at the bottom) > Erase all Content and Settings.
Then you're ready to go!

  • Is there any way to tell the differences between auroras or betas?

    There are various arouras and betas released during each rapid release cycles.
    Is there any way to tell the differences (changes/fixes) between auroras or betas?
    bugzilla can only tell the target for landing but not releases for some of the changes/fixes ...

    The Beta builds of a version has about six to twelve with nine being the average in last while until the 34.0 Betas. For Aurora which now currently called Developer Edition has checkins almost everyday so therefore there are updates each of those days.
    For Beta builds you can look at http://release.mozilla.org/ and http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-beta/
    For Aurora you can look through http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-aurora/

  • My iPad was either stolen or lost and was in my luggage.  Is there a way to tell the last time it was turned on.  If so this will tell me if anyone has it.

    My iPad was either stolen or lost and was in my luggage.  Is there a way to tell the last time it was turned on.  If so this will tell me if anyone has it.

    If you have an iCloud account and Find My Device was enabled on the iPad, you could try to find it using the iCloud.com web site. Otherwise there is no way to find it.
    You need to change all your online passwords immediately; notify the airport at which it went missing from your luggage (assuming it was at an airport); notify the police; notify your insurance company so you can get reimbursed and buy a new one; move on.

  • Is there a way to expand the text area of the login/lock screen for the warning message?

    I put our company's standard warning message in the Security & Privacy system preference ("Show a message when the screen is locked.") and it overflowed the allotted text area for the warning message text on the login screen and lock screens.  It seems that the area allows about 250 character messages and I need to provide about 500 characters.  Is there any way to expand the text area allotted for this purpose?

    To be a little more specific about the challenge I'm facing, I want to increase the allotted text space for the field I've outlined in the attached image.  Seems like there ought to be a NIB file that could be edited to accomplish this task:
    I would appreciate any advice on which file should be edited to expand the text field.

  • A relative gave me her iPhone.  Is there a way to change the associated apple I'd to mine?

    A relative gave me her Iphone.  Is there a way to associate it to my own apple I'd.  Thanks

    The best thing to do would be Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings.
    Set it up using your own Apple ID and iCloud account.

  • HT201269 I have an IPhone 4 that turns off.When I plug the phone into a outlet, it says to connect to iTunes. But my phone doesn't connect. I need to backup info to sync to a new iPhone. Is there another way to get the info from the old one?

    I have an IPhone 4 that turns off on its own. When I plug the phone into an outlet, it says to connect to iTunes. When i connect my phone to itunes, the screen displays the apple icon and doesn't connect to iTunes.  I need to backup info on this phone so I can apply my back up to a new iPhone. Is there any another way i can do this? My older phone will not show it's connected to iTunes. I used iCloud on the phone with problems, but I didn't back up all the info thru iCloud. Is there another way to back up?

    Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

  • Is there any way to tell the last date my ipod was plugged into my computer?

    OKay, this may be a techie question, but I'm pretty savvy so if this info is contained in a file somewhere, you can feel free to explain how to find it, I can look for it.
    i Misplaced my iPod nano at some point in time, and knowing the last date I synced it to iTunes or even plugged it in would be HUGELY helpful in helping me to maybe locate it.  IS there any way to see this information (the date specifically) anywhere on my computer dated in any file?
    I Did look at devices and the iPod wasn't listed there, (only my more recent iPad and iPhone as backups) so I'm assuming maybe this wasnt an option in earlier versions of iTunes at least when I last had that sucker plugged in.
    IIt's Moreso just killing me that I can't find it, and I KNOW it's one of a few places.
    ANy help is great!
    thanks!

  • Is there a way to tell the dir location of a class?

    Good day.
    I have a desktop application and I want it to save information to files located in the directory where the class is started.
    example...
    c:\myStuff\java java -jar myJar.jarThe program starts but is there a way within the program to tell where it started from, the mystuff\java location.
    I have listed all of the system properties but thay all reference the location of the java executable?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    hmmm... I'm not sure how you can get the exact filepath where it's running, but it seems like if you only want to save stuff there to just make your files with relative filepaths/names rather than absolute filepaths. On that note (come to think of it) you could make a file with a relative filename and then call "getAbsolutePath()" on that file (of course that would be answering the question after solving the problem)

  • Is there any way to tell what songs on my iPod are NOT in my iTunes library?

    There are some songs on my iPod that are not in my current iTunes library. I ran into a problem with album artwork and may need to do a full restore. If I do this, however, the songs that are not in my library will be lost. Is there any way, through iTunes, a third-party program, or directory digging to tell if a song is not in your iTunes library?

    Select the iPod in iTunes then File > Transfer purchases.
    If these are not iTunes purchases, simply restore them to iTunes from the backup of your HD.

  • TS4006 I have 5 devices on my icloud.  The one that is lost is not showing up as a device on the Where's my iphone.  Is there any way to locate the lost device?

    I am currently looking for my daughters lost ipod.  All the devices are showing up on locate my iphone map except her ipod that is lost.  Is there any way I can try to locate it.  Why wouldn't it be showing up with the rest?

    The iPod has to be powered on, and it has to have a live wifi connection.  If it is not showing up it may be powered off, the battery may have died, it may be in sleep mode (the wifi radio is off in sleep mode when running on the battery), or it may not be in range of any known wifi networks.
    Also, since the tracking feature is a function of iCloud account credentials, if the device has been reset as new, then your daughters iCloud account and its settings will have been erased.  In that case, the device will never show up again.
    If the device did not have a passcode lock and/or account restrictions enabled on it, then anyone finding it could also go into the iCloud account settings and disable the "find my iPod" setting.

  • I have my audio files saved as AIFF, is there any way to tell the iTunes match to play back 256 version instead to save on cellular data use?

    I have been using the match for about 5 months and it's very cool to have all the tunes with me at all times.  But, my ATT 'unlimited' data plan slows down after a certain point and I can't effectively stream the big files I uploaded to the cloud until it resets the next month.  I get about 12-15 days of no problems and then the rest of the month I'm taking cd's in the car.
    Help!

    Using iCloud Status you can see which Songs are uploaded.  These can be placed in a playlist and saved to audio CD - in addition copy the playlist content to an open folder on your desktop.
    Delete the Songs from your library & cloud; import the Songs as 256 AAC from CD; update iTunes Match.
    At your discretion you can delete the local Songs once more and add back the original files from your desktop folder.
    This way you have the original files for local playback and 256 AAC files in the cloud for download.

  • Is there a way to get the touch apps still?

    Hi, I'm just starting out in graphic design and I've been setting money aside to get an android tablet after the holidays specifically to get the adobe touch apps. Now that they are no longer being supported is there a way to still get them? I'm still willing to pay for the apps knowing that they will not be updated.

    Hi FutureManZerO,
    Its only possible to get Photoshop Touch (iOS/Android) and Adobe Ideas (iOS) now.

  • URGENT - iPhone SDK - Is there a way to figure out if an App is installed?

    If i have an *app id* in hand to one of my applications, is there an API which i can use from another app to see if my primary app is installed on the device or not?
    i.e from *App B* can i figure out if *App A* is installed?
    Thanks in advance,
    TRS

    That was a great suggestion. Would have been good if it worked.
    The call always returns NO for custom URL. Works fine for regular http urls.
    If only openURL method of UIApplication did the right thing by returning NO if a custom handler could not be found, instead of showing a stupid alert and returning YES . Who does such stupid coding at Apple?
    Sorry for venting out my frustration.
    Thanks a lot for your suggestion which i felt was a really good one.

  • Is there a way to tell the difference between an attached file, and an image that is embedded in an email?

    When Outlook receives an email, it appears that attached files and embedded images are carried as Attachments.  In looking at emails and the individual attachments/embedded images with Outlook Spy, I do not see anything that would tell me which is
    which.  Obviously Outlook knows the difference ... is there something that I'm missing?mdpowers

    Hi Ken,
    In my code i have something like that:
    public static bool IsEmbeddedAttachment(Outlook.Attachment attachment)
    //Anexos que não são embedded são obrigatóriamente olByValue, porém os embedded podem ser de qualquer tipo
    if (attachment.Type != Outlook.OlAttachmentType.olByValue)
    return true;
    //Busca a propriedade contentID do anexo. Anexos embedded não precisam necessáriamente gerar um ContentID. Anexos fixos não geram ContentID
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_ID = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3712001E").ToString();
    //Busca a propriedade contentLocation. Para que o anexo seja embedded é necessario que essa propriedade esteja vazia ou nulla
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3713001E").ToString();
    if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_ID) || !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION))
    //Busca a propriedade AttachFlag se for diferente de 4 é uma imagem embedded
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37140003") == 4)
    return true;
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37050003") == 6)
    return true;
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37140003") == 4)
    return true;
    return false;
    And was working very well until last week.
    I have a problem with a single email. This email attachments possess 2 PDF type files. These files are not embbed in the email, but they have the contentId property. Could you tell me why? or if its possible discovery why this happens?
    PS.: Sorry about my english.

  • Is there a way to make the music that plays on my iPhone 5 sound like it does on iTunes?

    I notices that the music that is played on iTunes sounds a lot clearer than it does when I listen to my music on my iPhone. Is there any way to make the music on my iPhone sound more clear?

    Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs ? If not then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893 .
    In terms of photos, then for those taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
    For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
