IPhone SDK - trouble working with iPod Touch 2G

Hello, new Macbook OSX 10.5.4, new iPod Touch running iPhone OS 2.1. Just downloaded and installed xcode 3.1.1 and newest iPhone SDK.
I read the iPhone OS Pre-Installation Advisory document found here:
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/download.action?path=/iphone/iphoneos_software_preinstallation_advisory/iphone_os_2.1_preinstallationadvisory.pdf
I created shortcut:
.../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/
pointed to:
.../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1/
Checked the shortcut, it works.
Start xcode, open Window->Orgnizer. "Xcode cannot find the software image to install this version" is showing up just below the "Software Version" line. Software version has a value of 2.1.1 (5F138).
If I ignore this and continue to build, sign and try the application. I will receive an error message "Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE800003A) during the install phase: Verifying application" I tried disconnect the iPod Touch, power off, power on. Same problem.
I tried to make a complete copy in (not a shortcut):
.../iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/
Same problem.
What should I do to trace this issue?

I wanted to compile and upload the sample app Accelerometer Graph onto my brand new ipod touch 16.
I got the notorious error (0xE800003A) during the install phase, verifying.
i checked all the product id#'s which i just copied/pasted when creating the certificates etc.... so i don't know what's wrong... so what IS wrong?
here's the logs:

  • Will FM receiver work with iPod Touch?

Hi there! I haven't posted for a while...
I really want an iPod Touch, and have been doing my research online...one of the main complains that keeps coming up is that the iPod Touch doesn't have a volume button. I have a 1st gen iPod Nano, and for that I have an FM receiver (Apple brand, not some cheapo junk). If I can use that with a Touch, then there would be no problem, but the new iPod receiver box doesn't mention that it works with the Touch. If anyone has tried it and could tell me, that would be awesome.
Just one last thing...I also read that people were having problems with the colour black on their screens, that it appeared all shimmery. Has a patch come through for that, or has it been fixed?
    Thank you in advance!
    Alex

    - No, Apple's iPod Radio Remote does not work with iPod touch. Look for compatible devices on the online Apple Store.
    - I don't think a patch can solve it, but the screen problem was only in the beginning, I don't think it's still an issue.

  • Remote on apple earphones doesn't work with iPod Touch 4G :(

Hi I have two in-ear earphones, the Apple one and the V-Moda RRMT, the one with the remote similar to Apple's. I've heard volume control works with iPhone 3GS, and have tried both earphones in iPad and they both work. Recently I bought an iPod Touch 4 and found that the volume control of Apple works while V-Moda's doesn't. Since both earphones (presumably) uses the same tech to control the volume, my current thinking is there may just be a problem with the way I'm plugging in the V-Moda earphone. I've tried reseating it several times and I still haven't been able to resolve this issue.
After scouring the google and the v-moda site, I still couldn't find any definitive confirmation that iPod Touch 4 doesn't support V-Moda's volume control. I'd like to know if V-Moda's volume control is compatible with iPod Touch 4 or not, and also the possible reasons why they don't work together.
I was looking at the earphone jack earlier and I found that regular earphone jacks only have 2 bands, while earphones that connect to iOS devices have 3 bands, so I'm guessing the 3rd band is what Apple uses for all of the extra functionalities such as Mic, Play-Pause-Talk, and Volume Control. Upon further inspection I saw that the 3rd band is not wholly covered in iPod Touch 4, could it be that the input signal coming from the V-Moda remote isn't strong enough to be received by the earphone jack of iPod touch because it doesn't fully encircle the third band? Any clarification on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried turning your iPod off and back on? My son wasn't able to see the AirPlay icon until he did that. He has a 4G Touch and I have a 3G, but we still don't have AirPlay working correctly. It connects and disconnects randomly, but we are able to see the icon most of the time.

Most do, unless they require iPhone-specific hardware. It won't let you install it if it's not compatible.

  • Apple Universal Dock works with iPod Touch 3G right?

  • Converted home videos to itunes not working with ipod touch

So I finally was able to convert some home movies to itunes but now they will not work with my ipod touch. I get a error message saying "can not be played on this ipod". I also can't get the movies to work with my ipod video (classic) either, how do I fix this? And yes there is enough space for the videos.

if the files are in iTunes, select one (or all) and choose +create iPod or iPhone version+ from the advanced menu. try syncing the newly created file(s) to your Touch.
    what happens ?

  • Apple TV not working with Ipod Touch 2nd generation? No sound.

Has worked perfectly the past month and I can still stream youtube via the ipod touch with sound.
However I can no longer play music from ipod touch to Apple tv. Issue started about 10 days ago.
Could this be due to some updates?
Similar issue when trying to play from Spotify, used to work perfectly.
    Thanks!

Have you tried restarting the iPod or the Apple TV yet.

  • Apple Universal Dock ... Old gen work with iPod Touch?

I was just wondering whether or not the Apple iPod Universal Dock will work with the iPod Touch. Now I know many will say 'duh' but I've got the previous gen dock, so it had come with many of the dock adaptors for the older gen iPods. I think that when I buy my iPod Touch the dock adaptor will work with my Universal Dock, but I was just wondering if anyone has already tested this.
    Thanks.

I have tested the new iPod Classic with the old Universal Doc (Pat No. MA242LL/A) that I previsouly bought with my 5th Gen iPOd Video (30GB) and 3rd gen IPod Nano (8GB).
Everything works fine (for audio), except for the Volume bar which does no appear while I Increase/Decrease volume.
Anyone else tested this and experienced the same or other problems?
Do you of any "known limitations"?

  • ICarplay 200 FM transmitter wont work with ipod touch

    hi
Can anyone tell me if apple is going to try and release support software to fix this issue or are they going to launch a new product line. The FM stations used to appear on the screen in the old ipods. With the touch, all i get is a message saying that an accessory has been attached (no information on what fm station so I cant switch between stations).

I too have an FM Transmitter that worked with my iPod Video. With my iPod Video I got a screen that displayed the FM Frequency. I get the same message saying that an Accessory is attached with no other information. It worked initially b/c I had it tooned to my car stereo using my iPod Video (which I have sold). I screwed up though and I admit it. I accidentally pressed the tune station button and now cannot find the *#@! station on the iPod Touch.

  • Will the new ipod touch work with ipod touch 4 cases

hi im new to this and im just wondering if the new ipod touch will work with an ipod 4 case

There are no hardware differences, just color and price, at least as far as anyone has been able to determine, so any existing case for the 4th-generation iPod touch (the just-announced unit still being 4th-generation, really) should be fine.
    Regards.

  • Sony docking station speaker not working with iPod touch

We bought a Sony docking station for the iPod touch (4th generation) we got our son for his birthday.  The speaker on the docking station works when playing the radio, but not the iPod touch.  We returned the docking station for another, and we are having the same problem.  Which is why I am pretty sure the problem is the iPod touch and not the docking station.  The docking station actually will charge the iPod, just not project sound out of the speaker with the iPod.  It will, however, project sound out of the speaker when using the radio.
Is there anything simple I could be missing in settings?  I can't figure this out.  TIA!

Use the communities search box in the upper right and search for
    sony.
The go to advanced search and limit search to the the iPod touch forum.
Recently there has been several users posted here with the same problem with a Sony dock. I do not recall if it was solved.

  • Will this Airport Extreme work with iPod Touch?

    Hi,
I just received an Apple iPod Touch (32gb, 3rd gen.) for Christmas.
I've always been a PC user, so I don't know much about Apple products.
I'd like to get an inexpensive wireless router to use with it.
I'd like to be able to surf the web, get e-mail, watch Hulu, and listen to
internet radio stations. I use Time-Warner broadband (Road Runner) and I have been able to do all of the above with my cabled PC.
I've been looking at: Airport Extreme Base Station M8799LL/A Model No. A1034. It looks like a flying saucer. Since Road Runner download speeds for my PC are around 2.5mps and this Airport Extreme can handle up to 54mps, is it safe to assume it will work with the iPod Touch?
If anyone has a moment and would jot down their thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it! If it won't work, and you could suggest some inexpensive wireless routers, that would be great as well!
    Thanks!

Yes. I use a similar flying saucer Airport Extreme 802.11g (54mps) base station with my 2g iPod Touch 32GB.
In theory, you should be able to use any 802.11b or 802.11g WiFi base station with the iPod Touch.
