IPhone unresponsive screen

I am having intermittent problems with two new iPhone 5 screens.  The screen is sometimes very non-responsive.  This is particularly an issue when turning things like Airplane Mode on and off.  The other day I was trying to turn it off, and I had to swipe the button 5-6 times before I could get the screen to respond.  This was never an issue on my old iPhone 4.  It is very annoying.  This happens when the phone is not plugged in, and I only use Apple chargers and cables.  This is happening for myself on my iPhone 5, and also for my daughter on her iPhone 5.  My daughter wants her old phone back.  Again, this was NEVER an issue on our old phones.

Reset:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost. If that fails, restore. If that fails, get replacement phones at an Apple Store.

  • IPhone 6 screen unresponsive and flickering

My iPhone 6 screen all of a sudden became completely unresponsive. It no longer responds to any kinds of touch inputs. Furthermore, when on, the screen is constantly flickering with grids. I tried restarting, to no avail. as well as putting it in DFU Mode, resetting it, and restoring from backup-- nothing solves the problem. Is the only way to fix this to take it to the Apple store?

In the last couple of weeks (and nothing has changed) - I noticed that my iPhone 6 will remain in landscape mode if I lift it up too quickly.  It's not frozen - but it's not detecting that it is upright.  The workaround seems to be lower the phone to a horizontal position and then lift it again - slowly - and that seems to restore the portrait mode.  I could understand if this started happening immediately after an update - but it did not - it started about 2 weeks ago.  Typically the app that I use in landscape mode (the most) is youtube.  I'm wondering if it is something with the YouTube app - but I don't recall any recent updates for it either.

  • IPhone 6+ Screen Unresponsive

iPhone 6+ screen goes unresponsive within apps. Turning the app off and on again doesn't always solve it. I have had to restart the phone completely at times to get the screen to respond. '
    Help please!

So I have the same problem. 128GB 6+ here in the UK
Called up apple support and they are sending me a replacement. Hopefully it solves it. When I bought the phone I did not restore from backup. Started from scratch.
Also they tried to charge me 30GBP for an express replacement service which I managed to talk them out of so its worn bargaining with them and not paying any stupid fees.

  • Trying to get pictures off of iPhone 5 with unresponsive screen

My iPhone 5 screen is not cracked but the touch screen is not responding. I want to get pictures off of it. How may I do so?

If you have the passcode lock enabled and you have connected your iPhone to your computer and synced your iPhone with iTunes since the passcode lock was enabled, you don't need to enter the passcode lock to sync or import photos from the iPhone's camera roll with your computer.

  • How to get photos from iphone5 with unresponsive screen

My iphone was dropped a few days ago and the screen became unresponsive. All the buttons work fine, but I can't swipe to turn it on or enter my passcode. I took the phone to an Apple store and was told by a not-nice guy that there was nothing they could do and that I could not get any of my photos off of the phone because I had the phone passcode protected. I thought Apple wanted everyone to passcode their phones! I wish I had known that this would prevent me from accessing my photos if anything happened to my phone.
I have sadly come to accept that my phone cannot be fixed and that I will need to shell out big bucks for a replacement. However, I cannot accept that there is no way to retrieve the material on my phone. When I plug the phone into the computer, it is recognized fine and stuff will download to the phone. However, iTunes tells me that it cannot synch FROM the phone until I enter the passcode on the phone, which of course, I cannot do .
I am really hoping that someone will know some trick to getting stuff off of a phone with an unresponsive screen. Please, please help this very sad iphone user.  The photos are all the photos I have of my young daughter. I know, I should have learned to to back my phone up, but when I tried a few months ago, I couldn't figure it out, so I have no backup. I even tried to set up iCloud, but I couldn't figure that out either. I suppose I deserve to lose all the photos from my daughter's babyhood . Thanks for helping if you can! (please!!)

Dear Dilbert41, thanks so much for your reply. In "my computer", it shows "other" and "photostream (system folder)". When I try to open the photostream, it says "photostream is not enabled. Sign in to icloud to view photostream. Open icloud control panel." So, if I click on the open icloud control panel and enter my apple id, it tells me that icloud has not been set up. So, I tried to set up icloud, but it appears that I have to set it up ON my iphone first, which I cannot do because the screen is broken. If I could use the screen, it appears I could get around the passcode. Instead, I have the passcode, but I cannot enter it because the screen does not work. I'm sure I had plugged my phone into my computer several times; I remember copying some songs in iTunes. This makes me think that I should be able to synch without reentering the passcode, but unfortunately, that does not seem to work (other sites said that if I plugged it into a computer it had been plugged into before that it would work).

  • IPhone 5 screen went black and nothing is working

Hey everyone, I woke up today and found my iPhone 5 screen to be black. The power and home buttons were unresponsive so I decided to hold them both together to reset the phone. Luckily the phone turned on and was working fine until now. I went to look at my phone and discovered the screen was again black. I tried to do the same reset thing but it is not working. The phone is completely unresponsive, as if the phone was dead. I hooked it up to the computer and it says that apparently the phone is in DFU mode. I press "restore" on iTunes but it comes up with the "iPhone could not be restored (error code 4014)" I have tried everything and have not yet found a fix
    Thanks

Take a look at this support document regarding the error code 4014.

  • My iPhone 5 screen has blacked out.

    Hi there,
My iPhone 5 screen has just randomly blacked out on me.
I sent a text message to someone then lay my phone down on the sofa and when I picked it up again moments later the screen did not work and it is completely unresponsive. When I ring my phone it rings but I cannot hear my ringtone. Plugging my phone into charge does nothing and I have also tried pressing the lock and home button at the same time for 10 seconds which also does not work.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Also forgot to mention that when I plug it into my MacBook it's also unresponsive with my iTunes

Permanent white stripes at the top of the screen (not showing at screenshots), unresponsive screen sometimes and self tapping screen sometimes.
The last two are temporarly fixed by locking the screen.

  • IPhone 6 screen locked up while on call

My iPhone 6 screen locked up while I was on a call - the screen went black and all buttons/touchscreen was unresponsive. I had just upgraded to iOS 8.1 earlier this morning and placed a call. I was put on hold and wanted to hang up when I noticed my screen was black. No buttons would work, so I took it out of my case and tried again with no luck. I finally got it to shut down from holding the Home & On/Off buttons simultaneously. Anyone else have this problem?

I had a similar problem.  I will be talking on the phone and next thing I know the screen is black & unresponsive.  The apple logo comes up and than the call continues.  I am not sure what is causing this but it has happened several times to me AND has also happened to a friend of mine.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Random unresponsive screen

Parts of my iphone 4 screen become randomly unresponsive at times. It does not seem to be as a reaction to anything so nothing I do seems to prevent or resolve the problem.  It does eventually work itself out but is happening every day, several times a day and is EXTREMELY frustrating! Can anyone help???

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself. Ignor the "slide to power off", let it shut off and restart on its own. Your iPhone will be just like it was before, but will function better.

  • IPhone 5 screen off

    Hi guys,
My iPhone 5 screen has turned off but not the mobile, after putting on charge. And screen is not turned on even I am pressing the HOME button & lock button also. For confirmation, I made a call on that no. from another mobile. it seems ringing. But, on iphone, no ring sound & screen on. so, pl. suggest me how to resolve the issue..??

    Hello YSMS,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.  It is definitely inconvenient and frustrating when you are not able to access your iPhone.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip the steps you have already taken):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:
