International Texts - Receiving and Sending
I have found that a lot of people have reported issues with international texts. Is there anyone that can help with this?
I have tried sending messages to Sao Paulo, Brazil and Lagos, Nigeria. It seems as though they go through, but I can't tell if they are received. And I surely have not received any replies to them. Thanks, lewisr13, for your contribution.
Good evening aedubs,
I'd be happy to assist you regarding international text messages. If you are in the U.S. and are texting to or receiving a text from a Canada, Mexico or Puerto Rico number this is billed at domestic rate. If you have unlimited text or a text message bundle than this is included in your plan. Any other international carrier will be charged at international rate. For more information about international rates feel free to visit the following link. Have a great day! -

When my wifi is off and I'm away from my home connection - it shows wifi off (unless I turn it on to check my email etc.) - and in the settings cellular it shows "voice only". Will I be able to receive and send texts in those settings? Or check voicemail. I had wanted to keep my email from coming in all the time and only want to check it periodically - so I turn ON my wifi when I want to check my email. But when my wifi was off away from home- I hadn't seemed to be getting my texts. So- do I need to keep wifi roaming connected when away from home to receive and send my texts in real time. (which is what I want) or am I still able to send and receive texts with my wifi off when I'm away from home. (When I'm home I am connected to my home data plan automatically through wifi and I get texts when I'm home - but I'm thinking I'm not getting texts in real time - is it because my wifi is off when I'm away from home? My cellular shows voice only when my wifi is off away from home. Am I doing it right to receive and send texts away from home? Or do I need to open up the wifi in order to receive and send text messages. I know that I would need to turn on wifi roaming - which will use data - for email checking or sending - as well as to use browsing apps and now I'm guessing to receive voice messages I may have missed? So do I need wifi on to receive texts too? Thank you - GregorySC
Hello GregorySC,
In order to send and receive SMS or MMS messages, you will need to have an active cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
You will need these to send and receive iMessages:
An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
iOS 5.0 or later
A cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi connection
A phone number or Apple ID registered with iMessage in Settings > Messages

I have an Apple Ipad. I was having problems receiving and sending emails via my yahoo email account. I deleted the account and then tried to install it but it won't connect to server. Could you let me know what I do please?
I think you have to turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off.

Weird: receiving and sending old emails
I am both receiving and sending old emails - from about a month ago.
Emails that I've previously received are turning up again in my inbox. They are flagged as newly received, but the send date is from about 6 weeks ago. No message appears more than once and they are appearing in the order they were originally sent.
In addition, my contacts are receiving emails from me again, also sent from that same period, about 6 weeks previously.
There's another thing. Often, an email will appear in the Outbox from nowhere. This can be either an email I previously sent, or an email I've previously received. When I delete it, it goes to trash. However, when I go to inbox, or another folder, then BACK to Outbox, another email will appear in its place.
Weird, huh?
I've talked at length with my ISP about this and they've had me rebuild my account, only for the problem to persist.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Some if not all the problems you’ve described are caused by some index corruption (which in turn might be caused by some filesystem corruption) that makes messages to randomly appear in a mailbox different from where they’re supposed to be. If that mailbox happens to be Outbox, Mail thinks the messages are waiting to be sent and dutifully proceeds to try to send them.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and ensuring that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
4. Move any “IMAP-”, “Mac-”, or “Exchange-” account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all the mail stored there to be lost.
5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library. -

After the last iOS 7.1 update my phone is taking a really long time to receive and send pictures over messaging. Is there a fix?
iMessages or MMS?
MMS and SMS are exchanged over a carrier's cellular network only. Contact your carrier regarding a problem with MMS/SMS. -

I bought a used i pod 4 for my daughter and it does not have the message icon on it ( not even in settings) how can I get the message icon on it so it can receive and send messages
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Message Driven Beans: how to receive and send in a single session?
Hello
How to receive and send JMS messages in a message driven bean using a single session?
Thanks. Are you referring to writing code within the onMessage method itself to receive JMS messages?
If so, that is not a pattern that is recommended, especially not in the case of a blocking JMS
receieve. If you must write an explicit JMS receive within an EJB component it's best to use
a "check the queue" approach where you give a very small timeout for the receive. That way
if the message is there it will be returned but if not the call will not block.
You'll also need to take the transactional settings of the onMessage method into account.
If your are sending a message and then waiting for a response, those two actions can
not be done within the same global transaction. For that, you'll need to either use
BMT and perform each in its own transaction or just not use global transactions at all,
in which case each send and receive operation will be atomic.
