I DO have a good backup copy of the library but I would still like to find out how to fix this problem.

  • Iphoto 2.0.1 fails to organise the library right

Any photos imported from another computer (in this case a PC) are organised in the iphoto library by the data MODIFIED rather than the date taken, even though in iphoto, looking at the properties of each photo, it has the correct date under the images original date.
after getting really annoyed by this, i just cant help wondering why i cant just organise my photos inthe library the way i want to, as i can with itunes?

^ Eh? What has this got to do with anything? Am I not explaining this right? Of course in the Finder, within a folder, files/tracks are arranged alphabetically. And yeah, there's no alternative. It would be nice if Apple allowed you to list files in the finder by other attributes (timestamps, ID3 tag data, etc) as in other operating systems, but that's another story.
What I said was you could organise the hierarchy of folders anyway you like, and even keep all your music files out of the library altogether and somewhere else. So instead of the default option in itunes, where it puts tracks inside a folder with the album name, and that folder inside a folder with the artist's name, you can organise them into folders by genre, style, BPMs, whatever you like.
"iTunes allows more viewing options because music files have more "meta-data" than photo files, but the different viewing options don't change the file organization in the folders that contain the original files."
For the third time, I'm not concerned about the viewing options within the application. I'm interested in the way iphoto organises the HIERARCHY of folders within its library.
It SHOULD be organising them by the date and time they were taken, but instead, for a large number of photos which were copied of another computer, it organises them by the date modified, which is the date they were copied over. So I have huge folder within the library on the 8th of october, within the 2005 folder, containing many months of photos.

I tries and it doesnt work!!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • IPhoto 11 won't launch and crashes every time I try to rebuild the library. Urgh.

iPhoto 11 won't launch- it's another case of an infinite skinny wheel. I've tried rebuilding the library numerous times, each time it takes about a day and each time it crashes near the end. This is just ridiculous. Any tips folks?
APPLE if you can hear me... shouldn't you be testing this stuff prior to release? I know you do but I mean, like REALLY testing it? This is my second iPhoto upgrade disaster. The last time I lost my entire library, had to spend £80 on recovery software that recovered not only most of my photos, but every image cached on my machine. So then I had the fun of sorting through literally thousands of images...
And I only got the upgrade becasue my iPhone is refusing to sync, freezing on the iPhoto bit. Gah.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • DBD: Error while trying to load the transport provider for odbc. Failed to load the library. System error: The specified module could not be found.

    Hello Everyone,
We are getting an error while trying to create an Universe via Microsoft -> MS Analysis Services 2014 -> OLEDB for OLAP Provider under Connection in UDT -"DBD: Error while trying to load the transport provider for odbc. Failed to load the library. System error: The specified module could not be found."  We have installed BI 4.1 SP05 in our system. As per earlier posts in scn in BO XI 3.x this issue used to be for improper installation of Integration KIT but in our scenarion Integration KIT is within the BO 4.1 package so no seperate installation is required. Moreover I have checked whether all the driver is present under file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\drivers" and seems everything is fine. But still I am getting this error. One important point is we could use IDT because in IDT still we don't have option to connect with 'Microsoft Analysis Services - 2014 (XMLA)' as we are using Microsoft Analysis Services 2014 version.
Kindly help if anyone has faced the same problem with SAP BO 4.1.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Ghosal

    Hello Everybody,
The problem is solved now after installing "OLEDB drivers from SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack". We had OLEDB drivers that comes directly from SQL Server but that did not worked out in our case.
    Thanks for your support.

Whats your setting for disk copy command in your init<SID>.sap
I think you are using cp command
    >disk_copy_cmd                  copy

Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7)  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

If you do not have the original install DVDs, use the Aperture Trial installer instead:
Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number:

  • When I try to access iPhoto it says "your application has is either in use by another application or has become unreadable." It recommends rebuilding the library, but says backup everything first. I can't get into it to back anything up"

Is there anything I can do on my own to get this fixed? I have tried shutting down and restarting and it does not help.

It recommends rebuilding the library, but says backup everything first. I can't get into it to back anything up"
It is recommending backing up your entire system or have a current Time Machine Back up which includes  your iPhoto
Then rebuild your iPhoto library as recommended:
hold the Command and Option keys  down during the complete launch of iPhoto.

  • FIM "failed while calling the BPC system"

    Hi guys.
Hope there's an FIM wizard out there.
We have FIM installed on our BPC server (BPC 7.5 SP06 & FIM 7.5 SP08)
I am seeing an issue with the connection manager in FIM:
When I create a new connection, it seems to form correctly (resolves name/IP and gets the list of AppSets from the server)
However, when I log out and go back in to FIM and check the list of connections, I see an error:
    "Error Loading Data Models"
The detail of this error is:
Failed while calling the 'Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC)' system to perform the 'GetApplicationSetList' action. : javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException:
org.apache.cxf.service.factory ServiceConstructionException: Failed to create service
This happens whether I connect using the server name, the FQDN or the IP Address and seems to be the very definition of inconsistency.
(Why should it see the list of AppSets when the connection is first made, but then fail afterward)
I am connecting using a secEnterprise login which is mapped to an alias of the BPC Sys Admin account (using LDAP).
Please help if you can, as this is driving me insane.
    Thanks

    Update.
I have added the output of the STDOUT log file (including the last couple of things to complete before the ERROR is reported):
