Iphoto Can't Open / Update!

I can't open my iphoto app. Please help! My iphone is full of pictures that i want to transfer to my macbook.

You don't need iPhoto on your iPhone to transfer photos to your Mac.  Plug the iPhone into your Mac, launch iPhoto on your Mac and import the photos into the iPhoto Library there.

I can't open PDF files, can't open, update, or download Adobe Reader. (I had it until recently.) None of the "helps" seem to help. I can't even open Adobe Reader now.

Ignore the instructions about "edit options", to install Adobe Reader download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and run the installer. Alternatively, a direct link for the latest version of Adobe Reader is:

  • TS1702 Can't open update tab in app store

I can't open "update" tab in the app store... When i click it, it show a blank page

Apparently, there is a problem with Apple’s servers.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.
You can also download the updates in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad.

I accidentally moved iPhoto off from my tool bar.  Now i get the message that iPhoto can't open because it may be damage or incomplete.  Can someone help?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Can't open/update iPhoto

I have been lucky to install the new iLife '11, but after I have installed it for about a few weeks, it can't open. It happened to me when I tried to open it pops up a notice like this:
In order to open iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version.
Please run Software Update to install it now.
I have never seen this before, I mean it should be normal to update iPhoto, but there should be no reason why it cannot open just because of that small update. Anyway I went to Software Update and clicked to check new softwares. Guess what? It didn't even have anything to update. So I went to manually download the latest version of 9.1. Once again I failed, when noticing that it said right there, iPhoto update cannot be installed to this disk, iPhoto 9.0 or later is required to install this update. This is strange, wasn't iPhoto '11 version 9.0?
Luckily my photos are still there and quickly made a backup folder. Looks like I have to open my pics using review one at a time!
Anyone can help me out or had experienced this? Thanks!

Thank you Col Raider! I have never moved iPhoto 09 or created folders, I left all the files exactly where they were originally installed and I still received the same error. I did exactly what you explained, I downloaded and installed update 9.1 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1322) and voila, I finally successfully opened iPhoto 11. Not sure what the problem was, even after I uninstalled iPhoto 09 and deleted all the files and folders mentioned in some of the other discussions, it still did not work until this. Thanks again.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto won't open, update not allowed

Recently updated to Yosemite and now my iPhoto can't be opened, I tried to update the app from the App Store but it tells me that I am not the original purchaser (I am, I've never had another Apple account).

The error message is not very appropriate. It essentially means, that the iPhoto that is currently installed on your Mac is not associated with your AppleID.  It may suffice to accept iphoto and other iLife applications to your AppleID.
Sign into the App Store with your AppleID (from the Store menu), open the "Purchases" tab and check, if there are any preinstalled apps that need accepting. Then press the "Accept" button.
Now try again to update or reinstall.
If iPhoto does not show on the Purchases tab at all, delete iPhoto from the applications folder (don't empty the Trash), then go to the main tab of the Apple Store (the Featured tab), enter iPhoto in the search field, and install.

  • Can't open updated version of iTunes (7.6)

When i opened my iTunes, it told me i needed to upgrade to the newer version of iTunes to play my an album that i pre-ordered. So i did, but when i tried to open it, an error message popped up...something about an error with Quicktime.
I tried re-installing iTunes all over again, but the same message came up. So i deleted Quicktime from my computer, but left iTunes, & then installed Quicktime.
My Quicktime works, i can play videos using Quicktime, but i can't open iTunes.
Re-installing Quicktime doesn't work & re-installing iTunes doesn't work. What else can i do???? This happened the last time i updated too, so i am pretty ****** off. Any suggestions??????

I was having a similar problem and searched this forum for 2 days trying to find the solution...and couldn't!
I decided to solve try a few things myself.
I turned the SpyWare off first then . . .
1 . I opened the Register Editor, by typing in "Regedit" in the run application for XP or start search for Vista.
2 . I searched all of the files, around six of them, and deleted ALL quicktime and itunes folders.
3 . I then went into the Program Files on the hard drive C:\ and deleted the files iPod, iTunes and QuickTime.
4 . After that I went back to C:\ and went into Windows and deleted a file named QuickTime VR and all other QuickTime and iTunes files.
    5 . Restarted the computer
6 . Reinstalled ONLY QuickTime 7.4 from the website
7 . Reinstalled iTunes 7.6 from the website and it worked!
Hope this works, it was a nightmare to figure out and a hassle to do but it does work....for me at least!
    Good Luck!

  • IPhoto can't be updated due to previous purchase.

I have read that you can re-purchase the update by dragging the iPhoto app off the dock and the app, itself, into the trash.  Following a restart, you should be able to repurchase the app.  I am concerned that this will drag all of my photos into the trash too.  Does anyone know if this is the case?  I'm fully backed up via time machine but that is only minimally consoling.  Any thoughts?
Another thought- if iPhoto '11 was recently purchased on a new MacBook, can iTunes read what I have and allow me to download it on my iMac?  It seems like this is the direction they are going with Lion- purchase it once and it is available to all devices.
    Thanks

If you have purchased iPhoto by way of the Mac App Store and you are having issues with a MAS update, then yes, drag the app to the Trash and restart. No worry about the Dock alias. This will not effect your iPhoto Library because it is located in Mac HD/Users/ ~/Pictures, not in the app itself.
As for iPhoto that came on a new Mac. That version of iPhoto cannot be updated via the MAS. That can only be updated through Software Update.

  • IPhoto can't open library

After the latest update, iPhoto informs me the library can't be open and quit afterward, see image below. Advices are appreciated!

Your screenshots are showing, that you already installed Aperture 3.5 and iPhoto 9.5.  If updates are showing twice on the AppStore, you really do not need to do them twice. This can happen, if you own two licences of the same software. For example, if you bought a bundled version on CD or DVD, but also bought a copy from the AppStore on another mac, or it came preinstalled on another mac that you own. In that case you do not have to run the update again for each copy you own, once will suffice. You may want to hide the duplicate purchases from the "Purchased" tab, so that you do only have to deal with one copy.

  • IPhoto can't open photos, can't find original

The photo “Andrew, Jacob and Erin.JPG” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.

    Did you have a question?
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.
