Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

How do you define 'large'? iMovie is designed to handle DV streams running at 13GB per hour!
What is the source of those files? What kind of files are they?
How would you be able to find out how much space you have free?
That really is pretty basic stuff. Every time you open a new Finder window it will tell you at the bottom of the window!
You don't say what Mac you have, and why are you still on 10.4.10 instead of updating to 10.4.11?
For iMovie to work at its best you need at least 20GB of free space. -
My iPhoto is not responding. Whenever I click on the iPhoto icon I get a twirling beachball. It is as if the machine is looking in the wrong place for the photos. How can I see where the machine is looking to find out if this is really the problem. How can I see the path?
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If that's the case Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

When I try to download pictures my iphoto will not respond
When I plug in my memory stick pro duo card reader iphoto opens up and displays the download communication and the rotating circle however it just keeps doing this and never downloads my pictures. When I force quit it says the iphoto is not responding.
Not sure what the problem is. It was working fine and now is not.Can you access the material on the stick using Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) ?

Changed icon now iPhoto does not respond

Can anyone help me, I went a bit silly changing my folder icons, but have now found that iPhoto does not work. I did change the icon for my pictures folder, and the data is still there, but now when I try to open iPhoto it just says 'loading library' and nothing happens. I am using iPhoto 4.0.3.

Changing a folder's icon puts an invisible icon file inside the folder, so you changed your iPhoto Library folder's contents without iPhoto's participation or knowledge, and now iPhoto sees its database as damaged. This is a useful lesson in letting well enough alone, particularly where no useful purpose is actually served by your meddling. "Purely cosmetic" tweaks of the user interface can have more-than-cosmetic adverse effects on how things work (or don't).
Delete your custom icon from the folder, then hold down the Shift and Option keys while starting iPhoto. Keep holding them down until you're asked whether you want the database rebuilt. Say Yes and let iPhoto do its work. You will probably get everything back again in good shape.
If your adventures with custom icons haven't messed anything else up, you're probably lucky. -
Iphoto does not respond with batch change
Recently, when I do a batch change for example "descriptions" iphoto does not respond. I tried to see if it was the number of pictures that I was batch changing but it freezes even with one photo. I tried rebuilding thumbnails. Any ideas?
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

IPhoto is not responding except with the message: " Your photo library was not found. Do you want to find your iPhoto Library". Then, "iPhoto can't continue without a photo library. Make sure the disk containing your iPhoto Library is connected.

2. I can access my photos by clicking on ALL IMAGES in SEARCH FOR.
3. If I trash iphoto and re-install from my Install Disc 1, will I lose the photos?

Chose a photo to print, then the screen went grey (spinning white icon), and iPhoto will not respond
I chose a picture to print, but instead of a print dialogue box, the screen went grey and iPhoto will not respond. I have even shut down my iMac completely, but when I relaunch iPhoto, I get the same screen (grey with the spinning "thinking" icon). I am running the latest version of Yosemite on the iMac. I've successfully imported the videos I've shot with my iphone5 into iphoto on my MacBookPro but they're only showing up as still shots, ie the imported videos don't play! Itunes no longer opens automatically when syncing, and when I open itunes it shows that there are zero "home movies" in there, meaning that it never grabbed the videos from my phone either. What to do? Thanks!

Meh, not that it matters anymore. I ended up redownloading 70-odd albums, so I have the bulk of my music back. And I still have no idea what iTunes did with my files, but I'll make sure it never does it again.

The pass 4 days now my iTunes Store is not responding, when I reload it all that comes up is a blank white page that says iTunes Store. Help please!!!! Cannot load my gift card to buy music and such!!!

Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter
You should get a message that the winsock reset successful and you will need to reboot your computer.
Reboot and when I reloaded itunes the store loaded fine.

My Mac crashed. I got a new hard drive. I reinstalled Lightroom. Fortunately ircats are stored on an external drive. How do I import all of the old catalogues from external drive into a new LR catalogue. I have done it before. It has just been many years and I can't recall how.
If you had stored your catalog files on an external drive, then all you have to do is double-click on them to open them and use them.
Or you could move them to the internal drive and double-click on them once the move is completed.
To create a single catalog file from multiple ones, you could use File->Import from Another Catalog -

Other times the Wi-Fi connection works fine and it check e-mail or other within few seconds. The connection problems seems to be intermitted
This issue never happened before with IOS 5 since I bought the new phone in Oct 2011.We suffered the imap.gmail.com server problem After an IoS 6 upgrade. The simple solution is to delete the problem account, shut down the iPad, start up again and reenter the account. Everything comes back normally. Good Luck everyone!

The power supply is shot. But that it lasted even this long is the wonder.. not that it died.
The TC runs too hot..
Look on ebay for "Time Capsule power supply"
You can get a replacement and fix it although the economics are not so good.. it is probably time for a new TC.
If you can DIY it is really only a few dollars worth of capacitors that go bad.
