IPhoto Shared iCloud Album Keeps Reappearing

On my Mac, I keep trying to delete a Photo Stream- I Ctrl+Click ->Delete Photo Stream, and for 2 seconds it is gone, then it is rebuilt. I can't figure out how to permanently delete it. I still want to keep sharing/photo stream on, for other photos, but not these.

The album was created by the "Family" app to share photos. While the Family is active, the album will be activated and will show on your albums as "family"

  • IPhotos - Shared iCloud vs My Photo Stream????

In my iPhoto I have a "RECENT - My Photo Stream" item that contains 194 photos and a "SHARED iCloud" item that contains 402 photos.  Some of these photos in the two "albums" are the same.
Question: What is the difference between "My Photo Stream" and "iCloud" photos??????!!!???
I never set up a SHARED iCloud photos album.

Where exactly are you seeing this SHARED iCloud.  It this what you you're referring to:
That's normal.  If you click on the iCloud icon you'll see in the window at the right the My Photo Stream album and any shared albums that you might have setup manually.
So if this isn't what you're referring to please describe in more detail or include screenshots.

  • How can I sort by likes or comments in shared iCloud albums?

Is this possible? If I share an iCloud album, the likes and comments that those I share it with appear in Aperture which is fantastic. However, there's no way to sort or filter the album in Aperture to show me just the photos that have likes or comments. This would be extremely helpful. Is there something I'm missing that would allow me to do this?
It would also be MUCH better if the edits I made to a photo were reflected in both the iCloud album and the Aperture Library rather than just the Aperture Library. At the moment though I have to go to the Library to make adjustments to an image and then I have to re-share it to the iCloud album if I want those changes to be reflected there.

In the range from useful professional (reliable, repeatable, efficient) to amusing toy, the Photo Stream is closer to the toy end.  It's cool, it's fun, it can be useful -- but it is not and (imho) cannot be made to be a professional tool, which seems to be your goal.
There are (many) other tools for client interaction.  I use EditDrop, and like it.  (I have no affiliation with APhotoFolio other than being a customer.)
Fwiw, none of them (that I know) provide live updates to pictures.  The prevailing paradigm is that the editing is done "off-line", and the results are posted on-line.  The results can be removed, but are not, in practice, changed.  Instead, a new image is published as a variant of the one-that-got-edited.  This makes sense to me -- you don't want the comments to the first published version of an Image attached to the edited second version.
In this regard, they all work like Photo Stream.
Do you know of any programs that work with images differently?

  • Photos app doesn't display shared iCloud albums

I've been using Aperture and iPhoto, and had a few shared albums on iCloud. The upgrade to Photos app didn't seem to go smoothly and I had some strange behavior and messages about connecting to iCloud when the app first launched. I don't recall what they were exactly.
Now I can't view any of the shared albums in Photos and when I try to share to them, they are not seen as options. I can still view the shared albums on my iPhone. And I was able to re-establish shared albums in Aperture. But I can't see any way to get Photos to see and display them.
I disabled and re-enabled iCloud sharing in Photos preferences, no effect. I am not using iCloud photo library and am not interested in upgrading.
I eventually logged out of iCloud and removed all its data locally and then logged in again. Everything was restored except the shared albums.
So far nothing I've tried has worked. Photos looks nice, but I can't access my shared albums.

This post should be under iCloud on the Mac, not icloud.com. If any moderator can move it, that would be great.

  • IPhoto Sharing of Albums

I have a Macbook Pro Computer and an iMac. I created an Album on my MacBook Pro computer and want to share/move this to my iMac through sharing. I've set up sharing between my two computers and see the photos on each computer, but can't find a way to share my albums or even burn these to CD to move them. Any help or tips would be appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Three options:
    Best:
Use iPhoto Library Manager to move the album, photos, versions and associated metadata between the Libraries.
    Next best:
Export the Album from the host Library (File -> Export) to a folder on the desktop. Drag it to the other machine. Import to the other Library. This way you don't get the multiple versions. You can write the metadata to the files on export.
    Least Best
Enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and move to the other Mac. There, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
You can drag the pics from Shared Library in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
THis way you don't get the versions and will miss a lot of the metadata.
    Regards
    TD

  • How do I move iPhotos to iCloud while keeping events intact?

Can I move most of my iPhoto library to iCloud to free up space on my MacBook?  If so, how?  I want to maintain the "metadata" - events, albums, etc.  Once the photos are stored in iCloud, how do I access them

Photostream photos will only stay in photostream for 30 days and you can only have a thousand photos in photostream at any time. On top of which any photos in photostream on your Mac will take up just as much room as being in iPhoto only.

  • Videos in shared icloud album don't load - 'The operation could not be completed'

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue. A couple of days back suddenly the videos that we have posted in the shared album stopped working. Oddly enough they still worked initially for the person who uploaded the video and then they stopped loading altogether. Tried switching the photo sharing on/off but hasn't helped. Now all of the videos stopped loading altogether. It's very weird as my father who lives in another country can access all the content - so it seems it's still there in the cloud ?
Has anyone had a similar issue ?
Tried restarting, resetting settings - called apple support but no clue...

  • HT201317 How do you show the photo labels in iPhoto from an Album to shared iCloud folder?

I labeled an album of photos and shared the album on iCloud, I would like the labels of each photo to show up in the shared iCloud album, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately photo stream and shared streams do not share your iPhoto comments.
If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.

  • Photos Slideshow from iCloud Album Displays comments

When projecting a slideshow from a shared iCloud album standard iCloud Photo Sharing comments box (you know the like box) appear on bottom left over the projected photos. I can't find anyway to turn this off. There are no settings for this. Must be a bug?

When Apple support contacted, they acknowledged there was an issue with not all photos syncing
I haven't seen any issues posted in this forum before about missing pictures in albums, which hasn't been down to the file format being incompatible with tv, take a look at the photos which are missing are they all either JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF or PNG, if not they are not compatible.
Is any one else having problems?
I'm not experiencing this problem at all.
Also when trying to sync a iphoto slideshow, only the music plays on ATV, no images
Now that is strange, for now I'm going to assume that this might be that some of the photos in these slideshows are the photos that won't show up as per above. You are probably better solving the first issue before giving this one anymore thought.

  • When I share an album from iPhoto on iCloud and invite friends, can those with a pc view them?

When I share an album from iPhoto on iCloud and invite friends, can those with a pc view them?

That depends, see this link:   iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
iCloud Photo Sharing adds new features to shared photo streams, including the ability to share videos and allow subscribers to contribute to your shared streams. These new features work with the following devices and software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 7
Mac using OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later and either iPhoto 9.5 or Aperture 3.5
Apple TV with Apple TV software 6.0 or later
Windows PC using Windows 7 or later and iCloud Control Panel 3.1 or later
If you're using earlier versions of iOS, iCloud Control Panel, iPhoto, or Aperture, you can still create and view shared photo streams. Learn more.
If all fails, you can publish the shared photo stream as a webpage and mail  the links to your friends with a PC.
Can I share with people who don't use iCloud?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings for your shared stream, your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser. Learn more about inviting people to view your shared photo streams.

When I go to access my albums from any app on my phone or iPad, I cannot access the iCloud albums, only the albums synced with iTunes/iPhoto manually.  This is frustrating because I cannot add to those albums from mobile device, I have to add to them during a Mac sync.  I would like to be able to use my iCloud albums to organize my photos but if I cannot access them from apps it seems pointless.  I will end up having to maintain both an iCloud library and a separate iPhoto library which is more work that seems necessary.  I want everything easy to organize and access.  It seems like in this age where most people are more likely to use their mobile devices than their Macs (and some do not even own Macs) that there should be a mobile solution.  Hopefully I am simply without a clue and you folks can help me out with a fix or a source of info as a solution.  I have not found answers yet.

  • Cannot access shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3 on mac

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3.  The directions in help tell me to go to iPhoto preferences > photo stream, and check the box next to "select the shared photo stream checkbox".  There is no such option in my version.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3
Is this a shared photo album from iPhoto on a mobile device or a Shared Photo Stream?
If a shared Photo Stream you should have this preference pane in iPhoto 9.4.3:
Check the boxes as shown in this screenshot and then go to the Photo Stream section in iPhoto and see if they appear.

  • Problems with iCloud shared photo album

I am subscribed to a shared photo album via iCloud. I had to restore my phone, and afterwards, my shared album was blank, no photos there.
It appears fine on my iPad; I can see all photos previously added.
I made sure that I have iCloud Photo Sharing on. I also had the owner of the album to delete and re-add me.

If the photos were synced to the iPod you have to unsync them or use a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView to delete them.
