Iphoto video and image library separate?

I was running out of space on my hard drive, so i got an external drive to store my photos and video on, i followed apples instructions to move my iphoto library to the external drive, and it all worked fine.
i can open iphoto and all my photos and video are still there and in the right place, this follows through to imovie, using the photo tab in imovie it finds my iphoto library on the external drive no problem.
but
all my iphoto videos still show as beeing on my normal hard drive? so any of the projects using these clips now say they cannot find the source video??
and help?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for two files: AlbumData.xml and AlbumData2.xml
Move them both to the Desktop.
Launch iPhoto - it will recreate those files.
Launch iMovie - see if this has corrected the issue.

If the Migration Assistant won't do it, move them over as you would any other folder; they're located in the Pictures and Music folders of your home folder by default. Independant video and audio tracks separate

I am using Premiere Elements 12 on a PC. I am working on a multimedia project combining video, stills and audio. Independant video and audio tracks separate when I insert a still image on another track. The tracks are not grouped or linked together. I do not know how to prevent this happening. The manual suggests pressing the Alt button when inserting but this does not work.

Holding down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard does work and works well under most ordinary conditions. Please practice and refine your Alt technique with care patience. But....
Have you tried keeping certain parts of your established track content together by using the Group command after selecting a
bunch of clips all at one time?

Place video and images in different folder? N73

Hi All,
Once I go: gallery/images and video, all images and video will display together. There is no way to create new folder so that I can put, or hide some private images there.
I've try using PC to do the job, created new folder and place some images in, does't work...
There is no problem on my previous Nokia phone, can anyone care to share or advise?

Unfortunately, some software designer decided that it would be better for users to see all videos and images in one long list no matter where they are, and then require you to use the "Album" feature to organize them.
In other words, the Gallery simply ignores different folders and shows everything in a long list.
There's nothing you can do, except use a different app.
I can only hope that the behaviour returns to something more sensible in future devices.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that does'nt help log into another user account on your Mac and try iPhoto from there.

N72:Videos and Images lost, when updating "phone r...

I had bought N72 1.5 months back. Recently I bought a mem card (1 GB)and copied some audio and video file. On a holiday recorded some videos and images. But suddenly all my audios and videos went missing.
Then again I recorde some, after some time the previous recorded things again missing.
I am residing at a remote place in India where net connection is available but care centre is far from here.
So when I started updatin my s/w through PC and Net. I got all kinds of errors like:
Internal Module error (so I tried regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml4.dll)
then not done.
Then continuously I am getting phone recovery remove battery and charger, connect battery and charger and retry. I did this too but in-vain.
I even hard reset it "*#some code 7580 or so don't remember#" but also not working

HT1479 DVD with video and images

I need to burn a DVD that contains both video AND images for viewing at another location. My video is not burning correctly, as in the audio drops out and the video gets choppy. I've tried several times on my new souped up iMac w/ OS 10.8. Any ideas?

I have to send the DVD in the mail to another state to be viewed there. It's for a job application, so I need all of the material - both jpgs and .mov files - to be playable on another Mac. This should be cake, but for some reason the .mov files are not transferring in the burn.

Apple TV slideshow with video and images

I want to make a "slideshow" with alternating video clips (from one movie) and pictures.Can I tell the movie to play for a certain amount of time and then switch to an image and then go back to the movie, repeating until the movie is over and then have the whole thing start over? Or can I use iMovie to break up the video and insert the image and make a movie to sync with the AppleTV? Is there an easy way to do this?

As a Z10 user I do not find an easy way to share my video by mail. I had to upload it to Box and send it from my computer.
Do you know a way?
As a Cascade developper I'm thinking about developping an open source app to do this:
My app would be registered as a sharing application
It will just crop/resize the video, the image, or zip the file/folders according to the user need and redirect to another sharing application with the same attributes, except the new downsized sharing data
Any guy would be interested to use it or to tell me about a already existing app with similar features?

I think that app would be quite popular. I've seen the video AND picture res-sizing request many times. Some of the photo editing apps will resize, but not easily share from the app.
A simple image/video downsizing or reducing file size function > Share would be nice.

Safari Sluggish on Videos and Image Search

Safari seems to take forever to open videos. On the ABC news site, a video took so long to load, I opened Firefox, loaded the video and watched the whole thing before Safari even started. [http://www.mediaite.com/tv/confirmed-diane-sawyer-abc-news-absolutely-obsessed -with-ipads>. Also, when I search for images in Google with Safari, the search return is quick, but the images take forever to load. This is not true when I search to Firefox.
I'm not trying to boost Firefox. I love Safari. It's just lately the web surfing experience in Safari has been slooooow. It seem to have been the more recent updates.
Any ideas?

Empty the Safari cache more often. Either from the Safari menu bar, Safari / Empty Cache or press Command + Option + E on your keyboard.

Concatenate / assemble videos and images

Hi all,
I'm trying to concatenate some fotos and videos in one video file.
I'm using Vision Development Module but it's my first experience with it and I don't know if this project is realisable.
I found an example to generate an AVI file from a photo. It works good.
First, I tried to write photos and video (with different sizes) in the same AVI file (like the example in the VIs attached). This gave errors, all datas must have the same size...
The result is that I have to generate an AVI file for each photo an video and after I have to concatenate them...
Is it possible and how?

Yes I have.
It's works but this involved to deform the photos and video.
The must would be really to concatenate diferents files with diferents sizes.

Sony DSC-RX100 Video and Images supported?

I was wondering about if anyone has a DSC-RX100 that they have successfully used with iPhoto. Successful = imported video & images by connecting their camera to iphoto and clicking import.
I had a dsc-hv9v sony camera which was great until its demise. The issue was the images came over fine but the videos did not. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5251) Sony uses a MTS (AVCHD) format. Which seems to have issues importing to iphoto.

"more info" in Get Info showing "--" instead of actual infos for newer videos and images

I've just noticed that when I click on "Get Info" on my newer pictures and videos, the "more info" section is now showing "--" instead of the dimensions of the images and videos. However when I go to my older files, the info is showing. Also if I search any of the newer files (those with the missing info) in Spotlight, it doesn't show up. I've done some research and some people suggest reindexing Spotlight, but that never worked for me. In fact, even if I exclude a folder in my Privacy list, it's still showing as a result when I search them. I'm sure this is a problem with Spotlight as it stores the dimensions info, but since reindexing it is not a solution, can it be solved in some other way?

It takes time on newer things, but might have to be opened first or something.
If you want, you can clear the caches with OnyX (#12) and that would rebuild and repair the entire sub-system.

Support for RAW Video and Image Sequences

Being a stills photographer who moved into video some years back, I'm very interested in the direction Lightroom is going with regards to video support. I haven't tried it yet but I wondered if LR4 supports Red R3D files? And would it perhaps support other future RAW video formats from the likes of Canon and Sony? It would seem like the perfect application, perhaps intergrating with Premiere in a similar way to RedCine with FCP. Be great to be able to log footage, orginize it into bins and do basic colour correction in LR, edit the project in Premiere and re-touch in After Effects.
Another task LR would seem ideally suited to is combining image sequences into timelapse video. Shooting timelapse as an image sequence on a DSLR is pretty much standard practice these days; and I've used LR to colour correct, crop and scale my sequences (before fitting them together in Quicktime) for years now. It would be fantastic to be able to preview the clip and export the video (as DPX, ProRes or DNxHD) from within Lightroom.
These are obviously fairly long term wishes. In the short term though, the video features are pretty much useless to me without support for exporting ProRes and DNxHD files. With this LR becomes a powerful asset manager that could be used to collect together footage from multiple sources/codecs and transcode it all for editing. As mentioned in a previous thred, XML support would make it even more useful in this context. There is definitly a gap in the market for an application than can handle this kind of task well.
With other manufactures floundering or neglecting their professional user base, Adobe would seem poised to take the video post crown. I wonder if Lightroom could be part of the takeover?

As I understand it Andy, its intention is to remain a photographers program, not a videographers program. The basic video features are available for lightweight management of videos coming from digital cameras, but it's not going too much further than that at this point in time. Of course that may change in the future, but we'll all have to wait and see on that one.

Font, Video, and Images Blurry

When I preview or even work on my project everything is blurry but when its just the picture or video is its very clear. Do I have something wrong with the size? What should I do? I just want to make a dvd of a local theater production for the cast to have. So it have images, video, music and fonts. Thanks

Whenever you add non-DV images to your video project (titles, graphics, photos) or you add effects to your clips, you will need to render this segment in order to see it at full, final quality. (This is indicated by a red line above your clips on your project timeline.)
To render your clips, press Enter. When the program finishes processing your render, the red line will turn green and you will see your video at a quality more representative of your final output.
