IPhoto11 is no longer publishing photos to MobileMe

For years I have used the integration of iPhoto and MobileMe to publish and share photo albums on the web.   This week on my iMac I tried to publish my most recent photos from the holidays via iPhoto11 and MobileMe and found that no photos were published to the newly created album - only the thumbnails.   When I then try to publish other photos to the new MobileMe album, I get a message that the MobileMe album will be deleted.
As this happened several times, I then tried the same from my Macbook Pro.  The first album I created published properly and I assumed that I had corrupted iPhoto software on my iMac.   When I then tried to create and publish a second album, I experienced the identical problem as I had on my iMac.
I am now convinced that this is a bug in either iPhoto11 or MobileMe.  I searched Apple Support and its communities but have not seen this error.   Any suggestions?

Thanks and Happy New Year to Old Toad and Remy for their speedy responses.  Unfortunately neither their suggestions, nor Apple/MobileMe's support worked.   I phoned AppleCare and the iLife specialist I was referred to was certain that it was not an issue in iPhoto as it had happened on two of my machines - but rather in MobileMe.  MobileMe has their own support group - Chat based.     The representative I was assigned to repeatedly got my name wrong, and took forever to make any suggestions.   I was not really frustrated with him as much as I am with Apple.    They have clearly abandoned MobileMe.   I said that I used to like sharing photos to my MobileMe Gallery because it was integrated with iLife and it just worked.    I told him that this is the great thing about Apple products they just worked - but in this case I felt like I was dealing with Microsoft.
I know that publishing will sometimes work, but I think I will set up my galleries with another photo sharing service and then request a refund from Apple.    I recall Steve Jobs was publicly disappointed with MobileMe, and some of the services have migrated for free to iCloud, but they could have made it better.  Now that it is sunsetted, they have abandoned paying customers like me.
There are quite a few photo sharing services out there.   I have used SugarSync's in the past, but recipients must set up an account, and I must export the photos from iPhoto first.    I see that Flickr is integrated with iPhoto, so that will be my first stop.
If anyone else has encountered the problem I have with publishing to MobileMe galleries, or knows a workaround, please post a reply.   I love Apple, but feel they need to hear from me, a loyal but now disappointed customer.

  • Blank "Album URL" when publishing photos to MobileMe

When I upload photos to MobileMe, there is nothing liste under the "Album URL." Granted, I know how to find the album easily enough, but I have a few albums that have not shown up recently and I was hoping to visit their URL directly. Does anyone else have this issue?

  • Publishing photo to MobileMe, not able to select one album

Hello, since the 3.0 update, I am not able to select just one album to upload a photo... By default it puts the checkmark next to the first album, and then I select a different album, but the checkmark never removes itself from the first... is this a confirmed bug?

I get the same problematic behavior. I can work around it by selecting, one by one, each successive album below the first one, which moves the checkmark down one album at a time until I can stop at the one I want. But that is clearly a major nuisance. I'd love to know how to fix this. On the more positive note, the videos I have tested post faster than I would expect, and work fine.

  • Publish Photo refuses to work

Hi all, I've done a bit of troubleshooting and still cannot resolve this issue. I was trying to load an iphone photo to my mobileme gallery today and it would not work, would not connect. It would give me the following message:
"Check your MobileMe name and password in settings."
I did so, even deleting my password and re-entering it. Got the same message. Checked my mail on the phone and that worked. So, it is connecting somehow. Read this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1672
Tried to do the locate, after enacting "push" (which I never use per battery drainage concerns) and that did not work. Could not locate my phone. Turned off the wi-fi I was on in my office, trying to get it through via 3G. So, it actually let me get to the publish page at this point, HOWEVER, at the bottom in the account section, it just perpetually reads "loading." Never actually connects. Went back to mail again...again it was able to retrieve mail. The password that lets me into my mail is working, and should be the same password across the board, so why am I suddenly having issues with publishing to mobile me? I did restart the phone. That didn't resolve the issue. I've tried all I can, still no joy. It does connect, and pull mail, when in mail on my mobile me account, so what gives with publishing. I cannot get it to connect either on 3G or wifi. Just constantly get "Unable to connect to MobileMe" when trying to upload a photo. Oh, and this has worked in the past, if that matters. I have a whole gallery of successfully published iPhone photos. Any clues? Thanks.

Allan, deleting the account worked. It was weird however. When I first reset it, tried to reestablish the account on the phone, it set it up, but showed the account "inactive." So, that was certainly an unanticipated surprise. I did some searching and found a number of people who also had .mac accounts show as "inactive" on their phone and had to go through the process of setting up a new password. I did so on .mac, deleted the account on the phone again, then re-established it with the new password and suddenly it worked. And not only did it work, but publishing photos to mobileme worked as well. That whole process doesn't seem to make any sort of sense, but after some hurdles, it's now working. Thanks!

  • Problem publishing photos from iPhoto to Facebook

I just recently updated to ios5 and can no longer publish photos from iPhoto to Facebook.  The "publish" button is grayed out.  Anyone else had this problem??  Any solutions?

I have the same problem...just happened because I have never had problems until today.  I finally ended up going to my profile, clicked on Photos on the left side of the page and then I selected Make a New Album.  It brought up a list of choices where I wanted to get pictures from...like Desktop, or iPhoto, so I selected iPhoto and the pics came up and I scrolled down to the pics I had just recently uploaded to iPhoto and a new album was created on my profile and on the home page.
I liked being able to send them directly from iPhoto to FB but at least this way I can get them on FB.

Also, how can I remove duplicate photos in an album without doing it manually?

When the prompt pops up next time you start iPhoto select Learn more. Then click on iPhoto preferences and select the Accounts tab. Delete your MM account and the quit iPhoto. Next time you open iPhoto the problem should be eliminated.

  • Photo Page will no longer publish new photos

I have an Photo Album with with 12 Photo Pages. Total number of photos in the Album is 364. My newest Page will no longer publish new photos. The Album and Photo Pages, up to now, have been working fine. Is this a case of where I need to break up the Album Page.

The "empty cache" command is gone from the Safari dropdown but Option/Command/E still works and is in the develop menu.
A hard refresh (Shift/Command/R) has been missing for a long time - maybe V 4?
Safari is becoming more and more dumb with every update. I keep saying that its hardly worth testing in Safari since its a minority browser but does anybody listen?
Test your local version in Firefox and the one on the server in Chrome. See my last post in this discussion to see why you should use the error console now and again...

  • Uploading Photos to MobileMe Gallery results in "Request to Server Failed"

    Hello everyone!
I've run across a very frustrating problem.
I am wanting to upload some photos to a MobileMe gallery from within iPhoto '08 (Version 7.1.4; Mac OS X 10.4.11). When I start the upload, it runs for several minutes and the progress bar appears with the message "Uploading Thumbnails". After several minutes of this (usually the progress bar gets about 1/4 of the way through), I get an error message that says "Request to Server Failed". If I try to then restart the upload by clicking on the alert icon next to the gallery name in the sidebar, the gallery disappears.
I have tried deleting the iPhoto caches from ~/Library/Caches and the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" file from ~/Library/Preferences. I have logged out of MobileMe from System Preferences and had iPhoto log me back in. Nothing seems to work. I keep getting this error.
I have published photos to .Mac Gallery in the past (but not since the transition to MobileMe. Those galleries are still there on the web and listed in the sidebar. I'm afraid of messing with them though for fear that they too will disappear.
I've done Google searches and searches here on Apple Discussions and found no definite solutions.
I could really use some help on this one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

How many galleries do you have? If only a few try deleting them manually from the iDisk/Web/Sites/_gallery folder and republish from iPhoto.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can someone help me with a problem I have publishing photos to Facebook and Flickr

I am using LR4.4 on my HP laptop (Windows 7 Home premium) with Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. I was able to publish some photos from LR to my Facebook account early in October. I have some new photos to publish, but find I now can no longer publish to Facebook.  I get a message – “Facebook authentication check failed”. I have tried to reset up publishing to Facebook within LR, but when I click on the Authorize in Facebook, I get a Firefox Error Message:  “The address wasn't understood Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (lightroom) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address.”  I have tried using IE as the default browser, but I get the following Internet Explorer Error Message:  “The webpage cannot be displayed. Most Likely Cause:  Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed.”  From the Adobe website (helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/errors-occur-using-lightrooms-publish.html) I have unsuccessfully tried all 5 solutions to resolve this issue.
Other steps I have tried - I have removed the LR app from Facebook, then attempted to Authorize from LR. I can get through 3 steps in Facebook (request for Public Profile, accept Posting to Facebook, and accept managing FB pages), but the final step again fails.  In Lightroom, after the authentication step fails, I note that the “Failed to receive authentication token” is highlighted blue. When I click on this, a popup appears (see below). I had found a suggestion that this should be changed (I can’t recall what the alternative url was – but part of it was …”export.facebook”…) but I’m not sure where this change should be made. I attempted to paste the new link into this field, but this didn’t seem to work either.
I have also tried to set up publishing of photos to my Flickr account. I go to the LR setup, which directs me to my Flickr account, and click on the authorize button. But again I get the same error message!  I am just about at the end of my knowledge / ability to solve my Publishing problem. I would really appreciate you help and advice with this issue. Can you please help me?

  • I can no longer publish my ICal work calendar

Just updated to the new calendar in mobile me but it deleted all previous calendars that were on my iCal app on desktop computer.  Fixed that with apple's help, but can no longer publish new calendar updates that are created on home desk top computer/ical (not mobile me).  The radio beacon is no longer present on the work calendar that has been published for 5 years and in the tool bar under Calendar "published" is not able to be selected.  I have 81 mb of my iDisk being used and over 9 gb of free space.  Any help/ideas out there.  Thank you.

This is odd: I have no trouble doing this. However I'm on Snow Leopard, so I don't know what difference Leopard makes.
When Apple sorted out your initial problem with the calendars after the upgrade, are you sure they didn't land you with MobileMe calendars? The new calendars live on MobileMe and Leopard can read them and display them in your iCal - I don't know whether it lists them under your MobileMe login name as Snow Leopard does.
Try this: create a new calendar and make sure that it's 'On My Mac'. Add a single event to it just so that there is something there. Can you publish this? If so, then the other calendars probably are on MobileMe and need to be transferred back to your Mac (from where they won't sync with MobileMe).
This is the procedure for shifting calendars back to 'On My Mac':
Select a calendar listed under your MobileMe login name.
From the File menu choose Export...>Export. An .ics file will be saved at your designated destination.
Create a new calendar with the same name as the one you've just exported from, choosing 'On My Mac'.
From the File menu choose Import... Select the .ics file and choose to import it into the calendar you just created (make sure you don't import it into the MobileMe version).
When complete, check that it's OK and then you can delete the MobileMe version.
Repeat for other calendars. I should keep the .ics files for a bit as a safety until you are quite sure everything is correct.

  • How do I publish photos to share like I used to on Gallery?

I used to publish photos on Mobile Me that people could download at full quality.  How can I do that that now that it is no longer available on Mobile Me and ICloud does not support it?

  • Uploading photos to MobileMe Gallery - Help please

I have MobileMe and have created a public folder for uploading photos to. On my iPhone, I can click on a photo and see the option to send the photo to MobileMe. When I go to my MobileMe on the web, the photo is there BUT it is only 800x600 instead of full resolution. I'm assuming that since it e-mails the photo to MobileMe from my iphone, it must reduce the resolution, eh?
Is there a way to prevent it from reducing the resolution? I just want to be able to upload my iphone photos to MobileMe while on the go. I understand that the MobileFiles 2.0/Pro application gives you the ability to access your iDisk storage, including uploading from the iphone to idisk. However, I cannot seem to confirm whether it will allow me to upload photos that I've taken with the iphone's camera or if the uploads have to be from within the MobileFiles app? Also, will this also result in a reduction of resolution?
Thanks! Any other suggestions/solutions on how to easily upload photos I have taken with the iPhone's camera to my MobileMe account would be appreciated.

  • Cannot publish photos

I am unable to publish photos to my ftp site. No problem publishing to a local folder, but then when I try to upload using Fetch it stalls out when it reaches a photo page. I can publish text and movie pages with no problem. I don't have a MobileMe account. Rudd

Thanks, Old Toad. I have downloaded Cyberduck and will try it tonight and report back
Here's a bit more information: I have been talking with Apple Tech Support and Engineering about this problem for about a week. They have reported that their tests have shown no problem with iWeb and no problem connecting to my ftp site, and I agree. The baffling thing is that I can publish text and movie pages, but not photos or albums. They have suggested that it could be caused by a wrong port configuration but I have little knowledge in that area. R.

  • How can I upload high resolution photos to MobileMe Web Gallery

Since upgrading to the latest iPhoto edition when I upload photos to MobileMe many of them appear as KB rather than their original MB, even though I choose the highest setting in Advanced before publishing. I did not have this probelm with earlier versions of iPhoto. Paul

Further to my last post, when iPhoto commences uploading, it says uploading thumbnails, despite me checking the "actual size" option. Can anyone advise how to get full resolution photos on MobileMe Gallery using iPhoto '11?
