IPMP svc command

Hi, I am thinking of changing the config of a live system which has configured 2 IPs. I'll leave only one and create an IPMP failover but when it fails over it would take the same IP as the primary interface.
This is the config:
bge0
<hostname> netmask + broadcast + group <name> up
bge1
group <name> failover up
I would like to know if when I do this command to restart networking service would drop the connection at all or not:
svcadm restart svc:/network/physical:default
PS: Solaris 10 x86 11/06. Could do the same on a sparc machine running Sol10

  • Svc:/network/nfs/client problem in Solaris 10

    Hi,
    I`ve been trying to figure out what is the problem with the below scenario for so long and till now i`m not able to.
    i have a X4100 SunFire system with solaris 10 installed.
    most of the services are not coming up (ssh,ftp,etc....) each time i reboot the server, and after approximately 3 hours everything comes fine by it self.
    i noticed that the service :/network/nfs/client is taking too long while starting. This might be related to the problem.
    See below the svcs command : hope this will be usefull :)
    bash-3.00# svcs -xv ssh
    svc:/network/ssh:default (SSH server)
    State: offline since Wed May 20 16:37:45 2009
    Reason: Service svc:/network/nfs/client:default is starting.
    See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-GE
    Path: svc:/network/ssh:default
    svc:/system/filesystem/autofs:default
    svc:/network/nfs/client:default
    See: man -M /usr/share/man -s 1M sshd
    Impact: 3 dependent services are not running:
    svc:/milestone/multi-user-server:default
    svc:/system/basicreg:default
    svc:/system/zones:default
    any advise on this ?
    Appreciate your help,

    hi all

  • Svc:/system/console-login:default failed repeatedly

    I am in desperate need of help. I installed some patches from Sun Update Manager and rebooted as instructed. My system comes up but when I tried to login through the console, the login prompt keeps coming back, thus no users can log into the system. I even tried to ssh into the system and when I enter my username and password, I get a blank screen and cannot do anything.
    I use a laptop to access the system through a hyperterminal serial port and when I navigate through directories as root, I cannot run ls commands or more on files. I do see an error message using the ls command:
    ld.so.1:ls: fatal: libsec.so.1: version 'SUNW_1.2' not found (required by file /usr/bin/ls)
    open failed: No such file or directory
    Killed
    When I use the svcs command, I see that the svc:/system/console-login:default is on maintainance. I disabled it and tried to enable it again, but the service stays offline. I tried all kinds of svcadm commands to get the service running, but nothing works.
    I also tried killin the sulogin so that the sulogin service becomes disabled and enable system/console-login, but that didnt work either.
    I tried using the svccfg steps, nadda. Can someone help? Thanks.

  • How to install the FRMI to Web Server 7.0

    Hi I need a little help, which is like being able to install the service FRMI web server,

    hope you installed the web server as a root user. if you have done, it is easy to take it from there . you can use wadm create-server
    <install-root>/bin/wadm create-server user=admin ..  config=.. --node=<hostname> <hostname>
    finally, you should able to start/stop using Solaris 10 SVCS commands like
    svcs -a | grep http
    svcadm enable -s https-.. (for server instance)
    if you chose enabling SMF during installation, you can do so for admin server a well. (so that you can start/stop using commands like svcadm enable -s admin-server)

  • JBoss status in SMF

    Hello Experts,
    I have the following problem with JBoss and SMF.. It is needed to implement Solaris script that would allow operator to get JBoss status. Initially it was decided simply to use svcs command to check JBoss status, but the problem is that SMF shows the system is online much sooner than Jboss is completely up. So, it resulting in operator seeing that svcs returns status as "running", however JBoss server is not accessible yet. There was an idea to use twiddle.sh tool for checking the status, but are there any other possible ways of solving this problem? Also, there are several JBoss instances running on the host, so as far as I understand in case of using twiddle.sh I have "to twiddle" all of them separately. Is this correct? All you advices will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Mikhail

  • Solaris 11 Early Adopter - hostname changing changes?  :)

    I see that the "old" way of changing hostnames from Solaris 8/9/10/11-Express has changed, but I can't get the new way to work in the Early Adopter release. The docs say to use this command:
    svccfg -s svc:/system/identity:node setprop config/nodename = new_hostname
    I can run that command as the root role, but the nodename property does not change (no errors, zero return code). I can't use svc commands to edit it or delete it either: it's like the property is immutable?
    This is a fresh text installer install in a VMware x64 VM. Current ugly workaround is to run the hostname command in rc2.d on boot to rename the system. (/etc/nodename, /etc/hostname.<iface>, /etc/hosts changes are ignored on boot: system is always renamed to the config/nodename property)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    run a refresh and restart on the service.
    svcadm refresh svc:/system/identity:node
    svcadm restart svc:/system/identity:node
    You might also need to set the config/loopback property with the new hostname (same way you set the config/nodename property).

  • Error registering server to DSCC

    Hi Guys
    On a fresh ODSEE install I am trying to run the following command
    "dsccreg add-server -h HOSTNAME -p 3998 /server/dsee7/odseeserver"
    I get the following error
    Enter DSCC administrator's password:
    /server/dsee7/odseeserver is an instance of DS
    Enter password of "cn=Directory Manager" for /server/dsee7/odseeserver:
    This operation will restart /server/dsee7/odseeserver.
    Do you want to continue ? (y/n) y

    Any ideas?
    The port is running

    *.389 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
    *.389 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
    svcs command shows the server is running
    the DSCC is on another server which I can access and see that it is active

    cn=Directory Manager is a special user that does not exist anywhere on your DIT. Also, when you create the instance, the suffix is not automatically created, thus you cannot create an admin user under a suffix that does not exist yet even if you are just creating a seperate admin account that just happen to have a similar name as the directory manager name.
    The ADS root tree entry is cn=dscc so all your DSCC admin users are by default created under cn=Administrators,cn=dscc
    Hope this clarifies it.

  • Can AnyConnect VPN Session Surviving a Logoff ?

    I see that AnyConnect is a Service. We sometimes have issues with remotes losing their Windows passwords. When this happens, we have them log in locally, (with a non-domain account), then connect to the VPN, then logoff, (the Contivity VPN Session will stay established), then we reset their password, and they log in with their new password. Some VPNs use a feature called 'Logoff at Connect' to accomplish this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    To log off all AnyConnect Client and SSL VPN sessions, use the vpn-sessiondb logoff svc command in global configuration mode:
    vpn-sessiondb logoff svc. In response, the system asks you to confirm that you want to log off the VPN sessions. To confirm press Enter or type y. Entering any other key cancels the logging off.

  • How to configure Solaris 10 IPMP for Oracle VDI 3.3.2

    Hi,
    Does anyone have an indication on how to configure Solaris 10 IPMP in a manner that supports Oracle VDI?
    We have setup two servers with 2 test addresses on physical and 1 logical for the hostname of the box, but when we configure VDI the VDI database does not come up on the 2nd box. We have also tried configuring IPMP without test addresses, but it doesn't make any difference - the DB still doesn't go into the up state after configuration on the 2nd server.
    Solaris 10 u9 with patches
    Two physical NICs on management VLAN via 2 switches
    Two physical NIcs on VDI VLAN via 2 switches
    VDI 3.3.2
    All hostnames are in DNS and resolve for short name, FQDN and also reverse IP lookup
    The is a proposal pdf on Oracle website that mentions IPMP, so someone has done it. Just could do with a hint on how it was done so that it works.
    ( http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/virtualization/vdi-design-proposal-1401195.pdf )
    Thanks
    Paul

    OK, updating this with what was causing the issue.
    Not an IPMP problem this was a DNS problem. The VDI servers have access to two DNS environments, so had a DNS search path that had the domain where the VMs where going to go and another for management of the box with two DNS servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf.
    We configured VDI using the FQDN for the management DNS, however the vda-config script takes the hostname of the box adds the first DNS domain from /etc/resolv.conf search entry and configures using (it seams to ignore what you put into the vda-config). When the config script comes to configuring MySQL because the names didn't match (FQDN it created by adding hostname to the 1st entry in DNS search path & FQDN that you put into vda-config command), it decides that it is configuring a "Client MySQL" instance rather than a "Slave MySQL" instance, which means the VDA DB never comes up in the out of vda-center status.
    So the fix is to:
    1) configure IPMP without test addresses (so traffic comes out of the correct IP and can be reverse looked up in DNS by the other host)
    2) if you have multiple DNS search entries, configure VDI using the first entry in your search path as its FQDN

  • Commands to copy apps to local drive from networkshare and installing via unattend install

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm in the process of deploying and testing Windows 8.1 with different settings via unattended answer file. I would like to test out with another settings during unattended install but I'm having a hard time to implement it. Here is the scenario, I've a
    server named WDS-DEP-SERV with a hard drive portioned into 2. One is C and other is E. On my E drive, I've a bunch of .exe apps saved. I would like my unattended answer file to pull those .exe apps over to the local drive from network share and install them
    as the unattended install takes place. I'm looking for a command that can help me achieve it in a silent mode. During testing before, I was able to have my unattended file to pull VMware tools drivers from network share under RunSynchronousCommand parameter
    with domain credentials of the network share and it installed successfully. For example, like this below.
    \\WDS-DEP-SERV\E\Distribution\Drivers\setup64.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress" /l C:\Windows\Temp\vmware_tools_install.log
    I was searching online and came across a lot of things but none answered what I'm looking for. Can someone please reply back with the answers on how can I implement it in my unattended file.
    1) To be able to have unattended file pulling drivers from network share, copy them over to local drive during unattended installation process and execute them silently. I need a command to pull this off.
    2) What pass should I use in unattended file?
    3) So far, I've used RunSynchronouscommand  under Windows Deployement Neutral during "Specialize" pass to install just VMware tools. Is there a way to execute all apps in one go instead of doing it one at a time via Synchronouscommand? Please
    correct me if I'm wrong, Is it true every time you use Synchronouscommands for various different apps or scripts to pull from network share, you'll have to use network credentials under each and every Synchronouscommands section. Like, if I add 4 SyncrhonousCommands
    to the unattended file to pull 4 different apps or scripts from network share, I must provide network share credentials for each of those. Can it be just one time network share credentials under those and they all get pulled and executed during unattended
    install?
    Again, please if someone can get back to help me out. I would really appreciate it. Hope to hear from someone soon. Below is my unattended answer file in case someone would like to see it to understand better.

  • Creation of IPMP Group failure

    Hi All,
    I used the following commands to create the IPMP Group for 10 Gbe interfaces but it seems to fail:

    As soon as I add the net16 device to the IPMP group, there is a failure.
    Can anyone please help?
    Regards.

    Julius,
    Thanks for the update. As suggested by you i have inserted one entry of auth group in TBRG table against FI object with SE16.
    Now how do we maintain the view of V_TBRG. Is it from SE11?, if yes then i should do this step from ABAP login.
    But what i heard is, this activity is purely involved by Basis people.
    Please suggest.
    Rgds,
    Durga.

  • Command  in Solaris

    Hi
    I am bit confused woth command df -h and du -sh.
    can somebody help me?

    The option -h for both commands is used to present the numbers if a more human-readable format. This means that the numbers are presented using K, M, G, and T when necessary.
    df is used to show space properties for a file system (total, used, free, i-ndoes, size etc). The numbers presented by df comes from the filesystem super-block.
    du is used to count the space occupied by files and directories but not necessarily for an entire file system. The -s option is show only the total space occupied by all the files under a tree and not the space occupied by each individual file.
    Sometimes, df and du present different values for the same filesystem. This happens because there are some information stored into a FS that is not from a regular file but used by control information. Check example 3.
    For example. The output below is from one of my testing systems, using df[] and [b]-h. If -h is not used, the numbers are presented in a "raw" format. The second example show du being used to count the space allocated for each directory uinder /var.
    Example 1

  • Make non-global zone svcs persistant accross reboots

    Q: Solaris 10 services such as telnet will need to be enabled after installation of non-glabal zones. Command "svcs enable telnet" did not leave telnet enabled after rebooting a non-global zone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Did you do the "svcs enable telnet" while zlogin'ed to the zone.
    If so it should have worked.

  • Oracle 10g CRS autorecovery from network failures - Solaris with IPMP

    Hi all,
    Just wondering if anyone has experience with a setup similar to mine. Let me first apologise for the lengthy introduction that follows >.<
    A quick run-down of my implementation: Sun SPARC Solaris 10, Oracle CRS, ASM and RAC database patched to version 10.2.0.4 respectively, no third-party cluster software used for a 2-node cluster. Additionally, the SAN storage is attached directly with fiber cable to both servers, and the CRS files (OCR, voting disks) are always visible to the servers, there is no switch/hub between the server and the storage. There is IPMP configured for both the public and interconnect network devices. When performing the usual failover tests for IPMP, both the OS logs and the CRS logs show a failure detected, and a failover to the surviving network interface (on both the public and the private network devices).
    For the private interconnect, when both of the network devices are disabled (by manually disconnecting the network cables), this results in the 2nd node rebooting, and the CRS process starting, but unable to synchronize with the 1st node (which is running fine the whole time). Further, when I look at the CRS logs, it is able to correctly identify all the OCR files and voting disks. When the network connectivity is restored, both the OS and CRS logs reflect this connection has been repaired. However, the CRS logs at this point still state that node 1 (which is running fine) is down, and the 2nd node attempts to join the cluster as the master node. When I manually run the 'crsctl stop crs' and 'crsctl start crs' commands, this results in a message stating that the node is going to be rebooted to ensure cluster integrity, and the 2nd node reboots, starts the CRS daemons again at startup, and joins the cluster normally.
    For the public network, when the 2nd node is manually disconnected, the VIP is seen to not failover, and any attempts to connect to this node via the VIP result in a timeout. When connectivity is restored, as expected the OS and CRS logs acknowledge the recovery, and the VIP for node 2 automatically fails over, but the listener goes down as well. Using the 'srvctl start listener' command brings it up again, and everything is fine. During this whole process, the database instance runs fine on both nodes.
    From the case studies above, I can see that the network failures are detected by the Oracle Clusterware, and a simple command run once this failure is repaired restores full functionality to the RAC database. However, is there anyway to automate this recovery, for the 2 cases stated above, so that there is no need for manual intervention by the DBAs? I was able to test case 2 (public network) with the Oracle document 805969.1 (VIP does not relocate back to the original node after public network problem is resolved), is there a similar workaround for the interconnect?
    Any and all pointers would be appreciated, and again, sorry for the lengthy post.

  • ORACLE_HOME disappeared, SQLPLUS - bash: sqlplus: command not found

    OK, I am a newbie but am having real difficulty with my 10G DB which I had set up on Unix Solaris box but someone was messing around with it and now I can't see ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_SID, they all return blank when I try to "echo" each.
    I realise I should have originally set it in Bash_profile, but is now too late.
    So how do I set them back up, I cannot get SQLPLUS / AS SYSDBA.........bash: sqlplus: command not found
    I have tried to reset and export but still doesn't work.
    I got the ORACLE_BASE as:
    training:/export/home/training/product/10.2.0/Db_1:N
    but can't seem to set the three variables to run SQLPLUS, any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Tried messing around to reset but nothing works, this is the present state of affairs:
    env
    SSH_TTY=/dev/pts/3
    USER=training
    ORACLE_SID=training
    ORACLE_BASE=/oracle/app
    PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
    PWD=/export/home/training/product/10.2.0/Db_1/bin
    TZ=Eire
    PS1=\e[33m\h\e[31m-\u-\e[33m\W/\e[31m-$\e[32m
    SHLVL=3
    HOME=/export/home/training
    LOGNAME=training
    ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/app/product/10.2.0
    Can someone help me, really need a step by step guide to set these back up properly.
    Thanks
