IPod nano (4th gen) not recognized by iTunes 11.1.3
I have an iPod nano (4th gen). After upgarding iTunes to v 11.1.3 (MacBook Pro) I get the follwoing message:
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.
Unfortunately, I restored to factory settings, which erased everything, but each time I connect the iPod I get the same message.
It must be an issue with compatibility because I get the same message with my wife's iPod (same gen), but hers syncs just fine on her iTunes (v 10), and I get the same message using two different USB cables.
So now my iPod is essentially empty (factory settings) and as good as a paperweight unless there is a way to get iTunes to recognize and sync. If I could get past the error message, I suspect it would be easy to sync automatically or manually.
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksHi JMfromMN,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If your iPod isn't recognized by your computer, this article may help:
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
Since your wife's iPod displays the same behavior omn your computer, it sounds like the troubleshooting for the iPod itself (which you've largely already done anyway) can be skipped.
Cheers,

Ipod Nano 4th Gen not recognised in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Itunes and screen blank
Hello,
I have a quite old (3-4 years old) iPod Nano 4th Gen.
The screen is blank, which means it needs charging. When I plug it into my laptop/computer then it doesn't show up which im assuming is because it needs charging.
When I plug it into my plug charger (plugged into a wall) nothing happens.
I think this is because the cables (I have 3- 2 computer USB cables and one plug charger cable) being too lose and not connecting to the iPhone fully.
I have looked at all the articles, I have done the R's, I have tried to restore it, I have pressed the clickwheel and centre button together and I have toggled the hold switch.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated! (And please save the "take it to apple support" etc... comments for if you can't think of anything else- not being rude but I know this)
Thanks
BitMyAppleHey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
"different" computer.
Try reformatting it. -
IPod Nano 1st Gen not connecting to my computer
My friend's iPod Nano 1st Gen won't connect to my computer (i have previsily added songs to it since last month) and now my iTunes won't show that ipod on my devices lists (I did NOT update iTunes because of the problems other people were getting)..... it will charge on my computer but WON'T sync....... WHATS UP WITH THAT???
THANKS IN ADVANCE TO THOSE THAT HELP.Could be any number of reasons. One of them just may be your refusal to update iTunes. Just because others are having issues does not mean you'll have them!

IPod touch 4th gen not connecting to anything
I got an iPod touch 4th generation for my birthday yesterday, it was charging and working fine until a few hours ago, my computer and iTunes can't find it, the whole adapter doesn't work basically, I even tried connecting it to my adapter and it still didn't work. All of this has seemed to occur after I updated my iPod to iOS 6.1.3, if anyone can help me with my problem it will be much appreciated.
Have you tried a reset?

Ipod nano 1st gen. not connecting to computer
My ipod connects to the computer because my computer makes a sound when I plug it in. But everytime I do, the computer tells me to connect it to a high speed usb port. Apparently I have 10 "high speed" ports I wasn't aware of. I have tried changing ports to every one on my PC and none of them work. Everything else I connect to a usb works fine, so is there suddenly a problem with my ipod? The fact that I can't put anything new on my ipod is driving me nuts. I've tried everything to fix this problem, both with the ipod and with the computer. NOTHING works. Help would be appreciated.
OwenI'm having the same issue and have just posted a question before reading yours. I know what your going through and am just as frustrated. I have built my own computer so I'm not computer illiterate by any means, but you'd think so by the fact I cant get a little storage device to work at all. I did hear that the newer version of itunes is not supporting old nano's, anyone??

Ipod Nano 6th Gen not connecting
Everytime i plug my ipod into my computer, it never connects with itunes, and also does not charge. Any help?
So it sounds like *nothing* happens when you connect it.
I would make sure your cable is good. Also look at the plug on the Nano and make sure there are not any bent pins or debris in there.

My question is this: How to perforn the "restore" function?

Hi, I just got my new iPod Nano 4th Gen. and the screen is blank... It's not on and its plugged into my Mac OS X Mountain Lion. I don't know what to do. Help!?
If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

Using a Windows formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with Bootcamp on a Mac(Win XP
Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a previously formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with a Mac that has XP Bootcamped on to it. If the Nano is placed in manually manage music with the original computer it was formatted with, will it be able to accept music, movies, podcasts, etc from the windows on the Mac or will they still be incompatible?
Well, I have 4 internal drive bays filled already, is there room somewhere for 5th one in the box? I wasn't aware of it if there is?? My mac is MacPro3,1, early 2008.
That macsales.com link is interesting but I'm not in the US (I'm in Croatia), and all those brands are supidly expensive here, that $80 esata docking station is almost $200 here... bahh. For that price I may as well buy a whole new 3TB external disk, I want to dock the old one to save money.
I've browsed around and I've found Icy Box docks, which have much more reasonable prices:
BOX IB-110StUS2-B
ICY BOX IB-111StUS2-Wh
ICY BOX IB-115StUS2HC
They all claim to have OSX support... anyone have any experience with them? -

My ipod nano 4th gen was submerged in water.
My ipod nano 4th gen was submerged in water. After it dried inside, i tried to turn it on but doesnt work, showing the blank screen. I plugged it in, held the menu button and it made 2 beeps then stopped.I could still connect it to the computer and access its content . What is the problem with it? And would apple to be able to repair it at what price approx?
Thx in advanceThe damage is not covered by the Apple warranty. An out-of-warranty Nano repair is about $80 (plus tax). Before you send it in for repair, be sure that you have the music backed-up.
