IPod nano battery issue

I bought my iPod nano the second day it was out and 3 weeks later had a problem with it, Apple took it and declared nothing was wrong with it so sent it back.
Now before I sent it to them I got roughly 13+ hours out of it, but I have just got it back and I'm stretching to even get 7, I'm not happy with this, now I'm not saying it's thier fault but I want to know what I am entitled to here...if anyone knows that is.
And do you think it would be possible for me to give them my old on back so I can get the new one if I paid the extra...the new iPod that is.
Thanks guys.

I had the same problem with my FIRST nano. I have gone through 3(see my topic: iPod nano is a joke). The best thing I can tell you is to return it for the exact same thing just tell the salesperson you want one from the newest shipment as to not get one from the same batch.
Hope I Helped, Jake

  • Specs of the ipod nano battery

    Hello everybody
My main question is: What capacity does the original ipod nano battery have?
I'm not looking for a 3rd parity replacement - i'm only concerned about the max. charging current given by apple as 1 Amp.
Li-Ion as well as Li-Poly batteries can be charged at a maximum of 1C (0.5A for 500mAh, 0.7A for 700mAh and so on)
higher charging current is quite dangerous and can result in damage or even explosion.
I doubt that the ipod nano batteries really have a capacity of 1000mAh. So i wonder if the current is limited by the ipod itself.
    Does anybody know this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
While I don't know a great deal about batteries, charging currents, etc., I would tell you to just stick with what Apple says.
I'm sure there are other parts inside the iPod nano that could be affected by higher voltages, or there is some other reason for this limit.

  • IPod Nano Battery Life when using Nike+

I saw this on the support site:
How much does using the Nike + iPod system affect my iPod nano battery playback time? The receiver draws very little power from the iPod nano. The overall impact on the iPod nano battery playback time is less than 5 percent.
However, I've owned my Nike+ kit for a couple of weeks now and I went from fully charged to almost empty on my battery after only 3 1-hour exercise sessions! That seems pretty insane given how much battery life the 2G nano is supposed to have. Any thoughts?

Are you leaving the backlight on during your workouts? If so, that's probably the culprit.
Also, do you get "normal" battery life (12-20 hours of playback, depending on EQ settings, backlight, etc.) when you're using your nano simply to play music (and not using the Nike kit)?

  • 7th generation ipod nano battery life? Please help.

I only seem to be getting about ten hours out of my new ipod nano.I've only had since October when it came out and charged it only about five times since then.I have calibrated the battery a few times, but it still has not improved.I only use my ipod for music and photos and I have the brightness setting on lowest.I don't use the equalizer or bluetooth.I have read that resetting it doesn't help.I really love my ipod, but I hope it's not defective 'cause it's engraved and I haven't bought the warranty for it yet.Does anyone else have this issue with the battery life? Any advice?

I guess i neglected to say that I did all tests from letting it completely die to letting it sit for 22 hours without touching it (who uses ipods without touching them for 30 hours?) and it died just after 22 hours. 3 times now it said connect to charge after 5 to 6 hours but one of the times i let it play without touching it after it said to charge and it went for another 5 hours then died? Any other hints or tricks or is this battery really garbage like others are saying!? If apple don't do a fix for this they will be getting hundreds of these ipods back because of the deception on battery life!

  • IPod Nano Battery

I just got an iPod nano (4th gen.) yesterday and I charged it until the battery was fully charged. I used the iPod for about 2 hours total today and the battery completely drained. I was playing some games, but mostly listening to music.
Is this a problem of the battery just starting up, and if so, do I need to charge it a bit more before the battery reaches full capacity, or is there an issue with the hardware itself?

The reason it is draining so fast is because coverflow is kicking on most likely. You know, the thing that kicks on when you barely move it, and it shows the albums.
When you turn the device to the side, it shows your albums. Well, this drains the battery big time. I have tested it myself. If I put the hold switch on, and carefully do not allow it to kick into coverflow, I could get 24 hours, but when coverflow kicked on, I would get 2-5 hours.
The problem is, Apple didn´t ship this Ipod Nano with the ability to disable coverflow, which they should have. The biggest complaint about this device is coverflow, but Apple still has not fixed it. I have been waiting 2 months for them to fix it, and give us the option to disable coverflow, but they still have not. If I were you, I would send some feedback to Apple and tell them to give people the option to disable coverflow, but as it is taking them forever, I don´t know if they will listen or not. I recommend you return the device and either get another brand or get a 3rd generation nano, if you can get your hands on it. The only downside is the max size on the 3rd generation is 8gb, which is why another device from a more responsive company may be in your interests. I have mine on sale at Amazon because I am tired of waiting for Apple to fix it. The funny thing is, I think a lot of people are avoiding buying this device because of all the bad reviews on Amazon about coverflow. Usually, when I sell a device on Amazon, I sell it within a day of listing it. It´s strange that I have not been able to sell it yet. People are ripping this device to pieces on the Amazon reviews because of coverflow, and on this forum, likewise. It should be simple for Apple to fix, but who knows if they will or will not at this point.
The other problem with coverflow is that it is incredibly annoying, and it makes it hard to adjust the volume. This is a huge flaw. Complain to Apple.
I am almost 99 percent certain that your low battery is because of coverflow kicking on. It is heavy on video, and anything that displays graphics will eat battery faster than just audio and less graphical movement.

  • Help with iPod mini (Battery issues)

I am an owner of an iPod mini (1st generation) that I bought in February from Amazon. The mini has constant battery issues that have led me to suspect a bad battery within.
For instance; I leave my mini in it's charging cable overnight, and it reports "charged" in the morning. I leave it for the rest of the day in my coat's poket but during my walk home from the bus stop, I find that the mini's battery is completely DISCHARGED and doesn't work at all. I'm sick and tired of having my battery last only a minute before it completely dies on me while walking home.
Can anyone lead me to a source of help? I NEED to get this problem fixed as I don't want to listen yo all my music while having to be hooked up to a cable.

Apple will replace your battery (if its within one year of purchase, no receipt needed, just the SERIAL # on the back of your mini), and you can get repair for FREE, just $32 for shipping and handling, OR you can, if an Apple store is near your home or in your town, take it to them, and get a REPLACEMENT mini on the spot, for FREEEEE!!!
Try those methods, but i HIGHLY suggest you take it to an Apple store first and see their take on the issue!!!

  • IPod nano 7G issues with shuffle function

    Dear all,
I just bought a 7G iPod nano. Altogether it's great but I have a couple of issues I would like to comment with you:
    1. I sometimes use the "shake to shuffle" function, but when I go and turn it OFF, the shuffle function still remains (although not in the "shake" mode), and I must turn it off manually by tapping on the screen while a song is playing, and de-selecting it. Does this happen to you?
    2. When I pair the iPod nano 7G to my car through bluetooth, after listening to any album up until the end, it then suddenly pauses, then starts playing again but in a shuffle mode, without me having done or touched anything. So after the end of any album, it just turns on the shuffle mode automatically. My car stereo system is a 2012 Mercedes Benz Audio 20 system, which has both A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Has anyone experienced something similar?
It's sounded like fun to listen to the iPod wirelessly in the car, but I must say that the bluetooth functionalities are so limited (play, stop, next track, last track) that it quicly becomes quite boring. I wish it had all the browsing controls like when you plug it in...Any comments?
Thanks a lot in advance for you help with these issues,
    CCCP

im having the same problem. I drive a 203 c class with audio 20 and for some reason the media interface wont sync with my ipod. The bluetooth works fine but when i try to plug it via the media interface cables, it only charges....

  • IPod Nano 7G - Issue controlling music through Bluetooth

I recently bought a 7th gen iPod Nano for running, but I'm also using for music in my car through Bluetooth.
I have a problem where if I'm listening to music with shuffle on and I skip the track using the cars skip buttons shuffle is turned off and the iPod starts going through the album/playlist sequentially. I previously had my iPhone connected instead and didn't have this problem at all, so it can't be the car sending the wrong signals...
    Anybody experience similar issues?

  • IPod Nano Battery query

Hi, I got an iPod Nano 16GB for Xmas and was wondering if anyone could help me with my battery query? Have downloaded the pdf from Apple, but am still none the wiser. When I plug it in my laptop it gives me 'Connected; Eject before disconnecting' screen, I was expecting the screen with the green battery as it's being charged off the USB on my laptop. So, basically have left it a couple of hours and I can't tell whether it's charged or not without un-plugging the Nano and looking on it's screen - which incidentally says a 'full green' battery at the top of the screen, but there is no prompt to tell you this. I find that if I disconnect if from iTunes and put it in ‘sleep mode’ from the pre-set time of 15 minutes, I get the large battery screen indicator – is the correct?
I bought an Apple USB Power Adapter for my wall socket, have found from various forums, if disconnect the iPod from iTunes and put it on the minimum of a 15 minutes sleep mode from the menu I can get the larger green battery charging, is this normal/correct? As Apples pdf has no mention of the sleep mode and the larger green battery display in its pdf manual. Thanks.

Thanks, I'm a complete new user to the Nano - and the pdf wasn't to the point as I'd liked. Cheers.

  • Ipod Nano - Bluetooth issue

my ipod nano 7th generation won't recognise any bluetooth devices.
I'm particulary trying to connect to my car radio, but as it doesn't seem to find any other bluetooth devices we have not sure if it's an issue with the Ipod?

Not all bluetooth devices will be discovered by ipod nano. To be able to do this, it must have A2DP BT profile. But it can still connect to other devices like jambox (which I am using now), etc. Cheers!

  • IPod Nano battery dies after 2 days in Sleep

My iPod Nano is about 2 years old and is working great for the most part. When fully charged, I can listen to music for 6-8 hours before the battery dies. But, if the iPod is fully charged and not connected to my computer and put in sleep mode, the battery is fully depleted after about 1-2 days. Is this normal? I know that even in sleep mode, the iPod will draw some power from the battery, but I thought it would stay charged for longer than it is. Any suggestions?
I have checked that it is not getting awakened by any alarms. Do I need a new $59 battery?
    Thanks.

I agree with you on the wallsocket charging thing, it's a must have, really. The case is a different thing.
People would get stuck with a generic case, and not have one they liked. Now, you can buy whatever color/shape you want, without hassle.
The reason I got a white one: the earplhones, the radioremote and all other things are white. If black ones were included/available, I'd have gotten a black one.
Oh, and I have mine 1.5 months now, and am as happy as a clam. I used to have a portable CDplayer with MP3 capabilities, but it was HUGE. This fits in my shirt pocket, doesn't have any moving parts (no skipping when running), and is just about as cool as it can get.

  • Nano Battery Issue?

Plugged in new iPod nano to charge/sync, which I thought worked fine. Battery showed it was fully charged - full green large battery graphic, though it says 'Charging' at top and there's a lightning bolt through small battery icon in top right of screen. But when I unplug Nano, screen just turns blank, like there's no power without being plugged in. Have tried the reset.
Then half hour later, large graphic is totally grey (empty) and little icon in top right corner has a little red bar in battery with lightning bolt and says charging. Does it need pluggig into USB2 only. It's currently going into PowerBook G4 with USB1 port. Will try leaving plugged in overnight.

I had the same problem with my FIRST nano. I have gone through 3(see my topic: iPod nano is a joke). The best thing I can tell you is to return it for the exact same thing just tell the salesperson you want one from the newest shipment as to not get one from the same batch.

  • Ipod nano recharge issue

    Hi,
I have a ipod nano 8gb. I had connected to the laptop for charging left the laptop unnoticed for few hours. However when I saw the laptop was in sleep and the ipod's battery was drained completely. Now when I tried to recharge by reconnecting back to the laptop, nothing is happening to the ipod (ipod is not responding). I want to know how to recharge my ipod nano and get it back in working condition.
    Thanks
