IPTC geek stuff (If you understand this that's just sad)

Question

I am seeing two IPTC deviations between Aperture and Adobe CS2 and/or iView. These are fields whose mapping is well specified by IPTC documents and these mixups shouldn't be occuring
The Aperture Sub-location field (IPTC IIm 2.92) which should map to Adobe CS2's Location (IPTC IIMv4.1 2.92 = IPTC Core Location) and iView's Location (IPTC IIMv4.1 2.92 = IPTC Core Location) fields does not appear in either program.
The Aperture Expiration time field (IPTC IIM 2.38) which shouldn't map to any supported field in either Adobe CS2 or iView appears in iView's ISO Country code field (IIPTC IIMv4.1 2.100 = IPTC Core Country Code).

There are really two main issues that I raised in my posts.
First: some incompatibility issues that should be possible to resolve in a minor program update. The fault here may lie with Adobe or iView although I would guess its probably the newest of these applicaitons--Aperture. These troubled fields don't store photographer contact info but do help with establishing the location of an image.
Second: From what I can see Aperture inherits its IPTC structure from the Mac OS and Spotlight. They seem to have done a very exact implementation of the 1999 IPTC IIMv4.1 standard, Even to the difficult to read formating of the date fields CCYYMMDD (i.e. 20060416 with no separators or punctuation marks for easier reading).
The newer 2004 standard IPTC Core (or IPTC XMP) has the fields that allow contact information to be a part of the image metadata record. For the legal reasons I mentioned above I would think that any professional would want their contact info in an image's metadata record.
NOTE: Even if an image says "copyright to Joe Smith" the users of the image can claim that they didn't know how to contact Joe so were entitled to use the image without payment.
Including contact info in the IPTC data would require that Apple adopt IPTC Core (XMP formatted metadata) and would probably have to be implemented as an OS level revision (OS X 10.5). I can't imagine any reason why they wouldn't want to support photographers in that way.
To view the question that has popped up in several other threads of putting metadata in exported files, in particular RAW files: the standars for attaching metadata to RAW files are so fuzzy or badly followed that sending out a RAW file to a client is asking for your IPTC information to be ignored. Better to use TIFF, JPEG or PSD.
