IR Chart Customization

Hello -
I am looking to customize the Dynamic Charts that can be generated by an Interactive Report. For instance, I would like to be able to set a minimum value for the bar chart value axis. I have searched the forum for term such as 'IR Chart Customization', 'Interactive Report Customize', 'Interactive Report Customize Charts', et al and it appears that either there is a lack of information about the topic or the search algorithm and I don't speak the same language. I've waded through page after page of irrelevant search results.
So, I turn to everyone here. Does anybody have any idea where I should begin to look for making slight changes to the Dynamic Charts of an IR? I realize that much of the code is probably generated by a procedure or function likely in a package. I'm just looking for a starting place to begin this journey. I am fully aware that this may be an exercise in futility, but you can't blame me for trying to develop an application that will meet the needs of my organization.
Many thanks.
Austin

Hi Mehabub,
As Krunal has already correctly stated, it isn't possible to write a separate chart query with links for an Interactive Report chart. Only the attributes exposed via the Actions > Format > Chart menu are available for IR charts.
To have more control over your chart, you would need to create a separate chart region on your page, which would expose a much wider variety of chart types and attributes to you....and allow you to generate a drill down chart.
Regards,
Hilary

  • WebI 4.0 Combined Column Chart Customization

    Hi,
Is there a way to customize the cobined column chart if I have 3 metrics and I want to specify different colors for each metric.
    Metric 1 - Bar - Blue color
    Metric 2 - Line - Red Color
    Metric 3 - Bar - Green color
Is this do able in WebI. we are on SP 7 for Webi 4.0 and using SAP Bex Query.
    Please advice.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Custom palette colours in Webi 4.0 are tricky, but possible.
    From here: http://www.pieterverstraeten.com/blog/custom-color-palette-sap-bo-bi-40-bi4-change-analysis-crystal-webi-house-style/
    Open C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\images\VisualizationConfig.template.xml
    Save the file as VisualizationConfig.xml
Edit the colours as you please.
    Save the file.
    Restart Tomcat.
Yeah, a tomcat restart to change colours. I'm sure this will be tidied up in a future version.

  • Pivot charts customization

    Hello,
I have some questions concerning charts/pivot charts :
1- Is it possible to cusotmize the data labels of x-axis like this :
on my x-axis, I have the number of the month and the name of the month (so I see 1,January 2,February ...), and I would like to only see the month name (I need to keep the month number) ... I have seen nowhere something to do that. Is it possible ?
2- Concerning vertical bar charts, is it possible to "concatenate" the values ? I mean to do the same thing as an area chart but with vertical bar :
if I have for measure1 a value of 100 and for measure2 a value of 40, I would like to see a vertical bar with a maximum value of 100 but inside in a different color the values from 0 to 40 for measure 2 ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you Venkat for your answer.
1- In fact I need the 2 fields in order to sort correctly my x-axis because even if in the repository I say that my month name has to be sorted by my month number, in my chart it doesn't function.... in fact the problem is stranger : if in my request I sort by month number, my chart doesn't follow this order -> on my x-axis I have 7, 8, 10, 1, 2, 4 (= month numbers) so the month name can't be sorted correctly.
The only solution I have found, is to use a pivot chart, like this I can order by month number and so my month name follow. I could hide the month number in the pivot table but not in the chart table ... my question comes from this problem.
I can't use the substring in the criteria, because if I hide my month number, the sort won't be done correctly. Is it possible to use this solution directly in the chart options ? (I haven't seen where).
But I just have seen, that a number can be treated as a month name and this solves my problem.
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Flash Bar Chart Customization

I am trying to get a flash bar chart that shows multiple bars on a single row. The X Axis is time, so basically I want to show that something happens from 10am until 12am, and then something else happens from 3pm until 5pm. But I want them both on the same row. They cannot be stacked, because there will always be gaps.
I looked in the Anychart documentation, and it appears that the attribute point_padding should address this problem, merely by giving it a value of -1 (because it is a percentage). But that has no impact. I tried adding it to the chart node, the block node, the set node, still nothing.
I am trying to do this with a 2D Horizontal Range chart.
My questions: Does Apex's chart plug-in not include some standard functionality from Anychart? Or is this perhaps an older version and is that attribute not supported? And is there anyplace where I can see what is included in the version Oracle distributes? Or failing that, does anyone have a better suggestion for how to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

If you are using Apex version 3, it uses Anychart version 3.
    If you want to use the custom XML option on your chart you need to know the XML spec. If you look on the Anychart website, their documentation is for Anychart version 4 and will not work! Check out the version 3 documentation at;

  • Gantt chart customization

hello, I would like to know if it's possible to have some fields in the SAME side of a gantt bar.
For example I have the field START at the left and i would like to have the fields FINISH AND RESSOURCE NAME on the right.
    thank's for your answer.

    perrrot75,
Yes it is possible but you will first need to create a custom field (e.g. Text1) that combines the Finish and Resource Names field, perhaps with a dash in between.
    Text1=[Finish] & "-" & [Resource Names]
Keep in mind however that adding text to the Gantt Bars can get out of hand and make the whole thing crowded and unreadable.
    Hope this helps.

  • Showing one data point on a line chart - X-axis label placed away from its actual position

    Hi Guys,
In line chart, i used CircleItemRenderer to show single data point. It shows correctly if it is single data point. But the x-axis label placed away from its actual position. Right now it displayed left most position where the line chart starts. I need to move that label straight of that datapoint where it plotted.  Please see the screen shot attached with this post.
In screen shot, x-axis label "Jan" displayed in left most position.
And how can we show the datatip for single datapoint. At present, we can't able to see the datatips also with single datapoint.
Can any body help me to fix those two issues.

I figured out a way to customize a single datapoint in a line series.  The solution is at this link:

  • Questions on SAP Strategy Management

    Dear Experts,
I am very new to SAP Strategy Management (SSM). I already tried to find some information about it in the web, but unfortunately most documents only provide high level information (mostly marketing slides). Therefore I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:
    1. SSM provides charts for data visualization. Is there an overview of supported chart types? Is there a source which gives further information about chart customization?
    2. SSM provides a collaboration functionality that enables user to add comments. Can comments only be maintained on query level, or also by navigation state (e.g. comment is only shown, when navigating to Calendar Year 2006 and Company Code 4711)?
    3. Is it possible to print comments / export comments combined with charts / reports to PDF
    4. Can users upload documents (e.g. MS Word docs)?
    5. A new version was just released which is supposed to have a better integration with SAP BI. What are the improvements in terms of integration? How can SAP BI data be accessed?
    6. What are the current system requirements for SSM?
    7. Where can a documentation on SSM be found (I could unfortunately only find an installation guide on service.sap.com)?
Thanks a lot for your help!

    Marco,
Here is some information about SAP Strategy Management:
    1. SSM provides charts for data visualization. Is there an overview of supported chart types? Is there a source which gives further information about chart customization?
Strategy Management provides out-of-the-box packaged reporting templates: Benchmarking, Trending, Percent Contributions within subtotals, Exceptions, Rankings, Ad-Hoc reporting of multiple dimensions & metrics.
With Strategy Management, you can also provide links to reports or charts in other applications for further drill-down or exploration.
    2. SSM provides a collaboration functionality that enables user to add comments. Can comments only be maintained on query level, or also by navigation state (e.g. comment is only shown, when navigating to Calendar Year 2006 and Company Code 4711)?
Comments are added by users to specific areas and can be defined as to which user groups have access or visibility to these comments. These comments are directly associated with a specific area (i.e. objective, KPI, initiative, etc.) with a tagging icon to show individual users if there are new, unread, comments since their last access to system.
Comments are added at the user interface level and would be stored in either the MaxDB or SQL database, depending on how the implementation was configured.
    3. Is it possible to print comments / export comments combined with charts / reports to PDF
Strategy Management has an Operational Review function that allows users to capture screenshots, annotate them and publish as a pdf report.
    4. Can users upload documents (e.g. MS Word docs)?
Throughout Strategy Management is the ability to provide links to other reports, internal or external documentation, as well as other applications. Best practices would have an associated link to documents.
    5. A new version was just released which is supposed to have a better integration with SAP BI. What are the improvements in terms of integration? How can SAP BI data be accessed?
The improvements are an administrator tool that provides a basic user interface to simplify the handling of BI connectivity: importing schemas, defining virtual measures, creating scorecard metrics, and importing data.
    6. What are the current system requirements for SSM?
That information can be found in the installation guides. There is a Master Guide and a Sizing Guide which will both be helpful.
    7. Where can a documentation on SSM be found (I could unfortunately only find an installation guide on service.sap.com)?
The best public resource for documention about SSM is the BPX Community> Enterprise Performance Management
    Hope this is helpful,
    Bob

  • Customize Apex charts

    Hello,
I'm an Oracle DBA thats slowly learning Apex. our company wants to use Apex for forms and various reports. I have absolutely no XML, Java, HTML or any such knowledge that would be usefule for webdesigners. i rely mostly on the settings Apex provides, but i'm learning a few tricks here and there.
my question is, how to customize/edit charts? here are open issues:
    - i have a 3D stacked bar chart (flash chart). i want to be able to
    - add a line to this chart for the same data. the line can be a "trendline" or some fixed value. i saw a website (AnyChart) that offers this soultion, but have no idea how to incorporate this. in any case, i did some tests, and it didn't work.
    - changing the Legend: we want to be able to change the order of the legend, so that it fits the chart! seems like a simple thing, but Apex does not offer this. it shows the legend in reverse order to the chart.
Also, the Legend seems to fix a capital letter to the first character of a word, the rest is small.
ex: we want a legend definition "AA KCOO" and we get "Aa Kcoo". we define this in the SQL Query, but it doesn't accept this.
i suppose all this can be changed in XML coding, but how, and more important, why? shouldn't a tool like this have that option of changing these things? the GUI tool seems so limited here. its nice that you can customize in XML, but i think these are missing options..
can anyone help, or guide me to the right documentation?
    thanks,
    mike

    Hi Dimitri,
    thanks for the tip.
first of all, getting the item in like you mentioned did not work. i tried with and without the single quotes
without quotes (<line value=&P8_LINIE etc) gives me an "XML Error was malformed" message, and with the quotes (<line value='&P8_LINIE' etc) gives me a completely differnt number! it draws a line at the very top of the scale, fixed at 160 in my case.
i did another tes, redoing the flash chart in a different region. exact same error, only this time, since i set my y- axis max value at 180, then the line was drawn at the top again - so it seems like the line is automatically drawn at the place where the chart value was defined for maximum...
oh well, no idea where this comes from...
as far as Anychart goes - i took a look at the website - it costs a fair bit for this newer version! for one developer license 500 USD, for 4 developers 1000 USD!
my question is: will a future Apex have the newer version? would it make sense to buy this or should we wait until Apex 4.0 comes out?
i have since discovered another thorny issue with Apex charts, but i will open a new thread for that. see my "remove marker from 2D Line flash chart" thread
so far, i'm quite frustrated at the lack of modification options available to this GUI tool. perhaps in future versions, Apex graphs will be better...

  • How to suppress bars on chart and customize legend text

I am new to Crystal Reports and have a couple of questions about bar charts.  I am using Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with Developer Studio 2005 (C# .NET) and SQL Server.
I have a very simple report that sums up the values of 14 different database columns.  There is a also a bar chart to display the summed values.
    My questions are:
    1.  Based on some user preferences, I may not want to display all 14 values.  I found how to Suppress fields on the report, but cannot figure out how to prevent them from appearing in the bar chart as well.
    2.  Can I customize the names of the bars in the legend?
Any help will be great appreciated!

Please re-post if this is still an issue to the .NET Development - Crystal Reports Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly

  • Return to Customize Chart Page With Parameters

I have a chart with some parameters and the customization page of this chart is being opened from a menu. The chart runs fine after entering the values for those parameters in the customization page. Now I have a link in the chart (after it runs) to return to this customization page (using CHART_NAME.SHOW_PARMS) but the customization page is blank (all the values entered are gone). I want to keep those values when it is opened thru' link from the chart. Is there a way to do this?..Help would be appreciated.

  • Chart color customization for Sentinel Log Manager (and RD)

    Hi all,
I am trying to customize the color of the chart provided by the SDK. I
    based on the
top 10 Report as modification. The default severity 0 color is WHITE.
I tried to change the files of color_RGB.csv or Key_color.csv of the
    entry to GREY4 but
it turns out it is not reading it at all during build-report.xml.
    Does it mean:
    1) I have to put those csv files in parameter directories?
    2) Do I have to run the autoparam build?
    3) Or I have to work with JFreeChart via the eclipse and rebuild the
    java files first?
    Thanks,

The original csv files are in the AA-common directories. I changed it,
and using the build-report.xml. The result is negative. The chart
    severity color does not change.
So I put the modified csv files into the parameter directors under by
    report build directory. Same problems.
So from the documents, it should be referring to the csv files to
define color mapping. So I cannot be sure where to put those files or do
some java programming with JFreeChart in order to achieve it.
    Thanks,

  • Chart, axis and customize grid and labels

    Hi!
I created simple LineChart. Chart is dynamic. It changes when
    I choose something from ComboBox.
I want to customize vertical axis (mx:verticalAxis) to show
    grid and label for: 0,1,2,3,4...etc.
    Now I have:
    <mx:verticalAxis>
    <mx:LinearAxis interval="1" minimum="0"/>
    </mx:verticalAxis>
But It doesn't work. Sometimes I see grid/labels in: 0,3,6
and sometimes 0,2,4,6 !! My maximum is changing but I think it
doesn't matter. I want to show label/grid for each integer number.
    How to set it?
    Thanks for help! :)

    Hi,
Yes you can do this....you need to increase Top value for xtitle in cordalayout.cxml at this location OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\chartsupport.
Totaly we had five types in this LEFT LEGEND WITH TITLES ,RIGHT LEGEND WITH TITLES ,TOP LEGEND WITH TITLES,BOTTOM LEGEND WITH TITLES,NO LEGEND WITH TITLES.
So based on the type of view you used in you chart, change x and y axis titles, title and legends top, left, width, height as per your need.
I think you used BOTTOM LEGEND WITH TITLES,as per you requirement you need to increase xtitle-top value in order to increase size between x-axis and label.

  • How to customize Flash Chart color scheme (Look 1 etc..)

    Hi,
Is their any way I can customize the Flash Chart color schemes (Look 1, Look 2). I know there's a "Custom" option but I'd like to define what Look 1 is so that I don't need to use custom values for each chart.
    Thank you,

    Thank you Dimitri
What you suggest is what I am currently doing.
But let's say I have to change the colors in all my graphs, I would have to go through all of them and change the "Custom Colors".
I was looking for something similar to a template where I would only have to change the color definition in one place...
