  • Fixed Exchange Rate Posting

    Hi Friends,
Just a quick one,I am trying to post a journal entry with a fixed exchange rate that is different from the system exchange rate, when I type in the amount, the system still uses the system exchage rate to calculate the value despite the fact that I checked the exchange rate box and filled in different rate.
Is there something I have to set-up before I can achieve this posting with fixed exchange rate?
I will really appreciate your usual help.
    Regards

    hi,
    Exchange Rate
If you created a journal entry with an exchange rate different than the one defined in the Exchange Rate and Indexes table, select this checkbox and type the exchange rate used for that specific journal entry.
This information is essential when revaluating reports. When setting the parameters for revaluation, and choosing the option to refer to the rates defined in journal entries, SAP Business One performs the revaluation according to the exchange rate you type in this field.
If you do not select this option, the revaluation results might be inaccurate, since SAP Business One will consider the exchange rate defined in the Exchange Rate and Indexes table, and not the actual rate used in the journal entry.

  • Changing Exchange Rate Posting in General Settings

Hi, Plesae I need your help concerning the exchange rate. i'm using SAP Business One 8.8 PL 15. In the display tab in Administration -> System Initialization -> General Settings, I chose "Indirect". However, many transactions (invoices) were done.
I want to change the Exchnage Rate Posting to "Direct". I know that I cannot change this setting after the first posting is made.
But, is there a way to solve this problem. I 'm in a big trouble. Please any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Nadia,
unfortunately you are looking at the creation of a new database. This is one of the fundamental settings of the application & affects all postings. Therefore it is not possible to change this setting after postings were made.
You can check the DTW templates for the transactions you already have & extract the required data using queries. Convert the query output into DTW files & then use these templates then to populate the empty back up of your customised database.
    All the best,
    Kerstin

  • Exchange Rate posting to P&L vs B/S during netting, invoice payment and app

Our Netherland company has local currency EUR and group currency USD.  We also have a US company where local and group are USD.  We consolidate and report in group currency USD.
In NL company, we would like all exchange differences to go to f/x P&L account (both group and local) when the transaction currency is in anything but EUR.  However, when the transaction currency is in EUR, we would like the difference in group currency to go to CTA account.  How can we acheive that since there is only 1 account that we can use for a group currency?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Then you need to change the exchange rate based on your LIV posting date.
Check in OB08 with exchange rate type "M" , as when ever the difference in PO and Invoice you need to ask the finance team to change exchange rate  as per date on which you receive the Invoice so the posting is done as per the vendor invoice exchange rate.
Do refer the below KBA which explains you in detail how the exchange rate works during MIRO.
KBA: 1700942 - Exchange rate cannot be changed as changing the posting date during logistics invoice verification

  • Exchange rate posting method - Incorrect !

    Dear all,
One of our installations was setup with an incorrect exchg rate posting method. It should have been set as direct, but is set as indirect instead.
However, over the past three month, no transactions have been posted in the system using any foreign currency.
Having said so, there are still volume transactions since the past three months mainly involving AR, AP, Payments and JE's.
AR / AP with FX will start soon, and we want this posting method to be fixed. I am aware that since the transactions have been posted, this setting cannot be reversed.
I would like all of you out there to share your thoughts with me, as to how we can tackle this problem. The only two solutions, that come to my mind are -
    1. Use the backup of initial settings and import all transactions using DTW (lest importing does not have any impact)
    2. Changing the DirectRate field in the OADM table from N to Y. Again, I am not sure, what would be the impact of this.
Looking forward to hearing from you all,
    Cheers.

    Hi Somchitra,
The 1st option is right for you.  It is indeed lots of output and DTW to do but it is necessary.
The 2nd way is direct update B1 database. That is very risky thing to do.  You should never try to update through SQL command.  You may loose support from SAP.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Changing Exchange Rate Posting definishion

I created a new DB. I imported  GL accounts and BP accounts. The system does not permit me to change the  Posting definishion from direct to Indirect(grey).  How can I change this property ?

    Hello Sara,
You should set this flag before you load anything into the system....
(if you made bakcup, you  can rollback the state before you have imported the G/L accounts).

  • Exchange rate diff amount posted to AUC asset

    Hello All,
I am stuck with one issue and looking for some help
We are creating purchase order with account assignment as projects and then doing MIGO & MIRO and then settling through CJ88 to AUC asset.
The issue is related to exchange rate difference amount posted to AUC asset.
MIGO and MIRO are done on different dates and the difference amount in exchange rate posted to GL account maintained in KDM.
Now, when i settle the WBS element through CJ88 the AUC asset is posted with amount including the exchange rate difference amount.
Business do not want the exchange rate amount added to the AUC asset.
please confirm is this the system standard behavior .
    Your inputs appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shashi

    Hi Shashi,
As per Accounting Standards, the asset must be valued on the exchange rate on the date which risk and reward is transferred from seller to buyer.
For example If the vendor despatch the assets on 01.03.2014 at his place and contract is Exworks then the asset must be valued on exchange rate on 01.03.2014. Lets assume exchange rate on that day is 1USD=60INR. The price is 100 USD. You receive the assets on 10.03.2014 and exchage rate on that day is 55 INR. Now if you make GR on 10.03.2014 Asset value will be 5500 INR whereas as per AS it should be 6000 INR. That is why when you do MIRO the differnce between 6000 and 5500 is posted to asset.
When you do MIRO you must enter currency(USD) in Basic data tab and exchange rate 60 in details tab.
What happens in your system is standard behavior of SAP as well as correct process as per Accounting Standards.
    Hope it is clear.

  • Exchange Rate Field

    HI Experts,
How to enable me to edit the exchange rate field in Ap Credit Memo?  Coz i have diffrent rate in all transactions within a document....
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Danny

    Hi Danny,
    The field cannot be changed.
There should be no exchange rate difference posting as no money changed hands. You sent the Invoice, it was never paid, you clear it with a Credit Note.
For the stock in the movement, stock is always kept in Local Currency in B1, no exchange rate posting.
    Hope it helps,
    Jesper

  • Exchange rate postings

    Hi Experts,
How do i change the exchange rate posting under display in general settings from indirect to direct. Transactions have already taken place
    Thanks

    Hi,
After having transaction in the database, the checkbox cannot be changed.
The checkbox is one of few settings which are irreversible and cannot be changed after transactions have been entered in the database.

  • Input & System exchange rate difference make additional line item as different version in COEP

We posting cost for WBS as foreign currency.
But posted exchange rate differ system exchange rate.
(posting is made by web system and daily exchange rate update is missing in posting date)
In table COEP, additional line item was created as version 9 (PCA valuation version)
and only have transaction currency amount (COEP-WTGBTR)
    that amount logic is below
    (1) FI input exchange rate              9.8599
    (2) system exchange rate               9.7841
    (3) Input JPY                                 676,450
    (4) Translated KRW (Input rate)      6,669,729  = (1) * (3)
    (5) Translated KRW (system rate)   6,618,454  = (2) * (3)
    (6) Diff                                          51,275      = (4) - (5)
    (7) Diff translated JPY(system rate) 5,241        = (6) / (2)  ==> COEP Version 9 transaction currency amount.
why this amount is created as Version 9
and any effect comparing to same input exchange rate & system exchange rate?

    Hi,
    I got your point.
Its a standard behaviour as part of parerral valuation with addtional local currency.
Please make sure that the below are set in your system.
    1) in OB22, for your company code, for the HARD CURRENCY--The source curr must be Translation taking first local currency as a basis
    2) For every foriegn currency you use, you maintain the exch rates in OB08 with Foriegn Currency 2 Local Currency combination always. And at the same time make sure that there is no opposite combination rates for the same.
    (Like 1 USD = 50 INR...1 GBP = 80 INR....1 EUR = 60 INR only)
These may avoid most of the cases where 0.00 LC value lines during clearing.
    Regards
    Srinu

  • Purchase transaction with different exchange rate in GRPO and A/P Invoice

Hi, can someone help me with this situation.
My Local Currency is USD with INDIRECT exchange rate posting.
    I'm using perpetual inventory method.
I recorded GRPO in FC (IDR) when the exchange rate is 10.000/usd.
    The GRPO created this JE:
    Debit :Inventory  FC=100.000 ; LC=10
    Credit :Unbilled Payable  FC=100.000 ;  LC=10
When I record A/P Invoice, the exchange rate is 11.000/usd.
The A/P Invoice created this JE:
    Debit : Unbilled Payable   FC= 110.011 ; ; LC= 10
    Debit : Inventory              FC=  -10.011 ; ; LC=  -0,91
    Credit:     Vendor             FC= 100.000 ; ; LC=    9,09
    Is this JE correct?
I have no objection about the Inventory and vendor balance.
But i'm confused with the unbilled payable balance. Yes, it have 0 balance in LC. But it still have balace in FC.
Should i ignore the FC balance?
    Thanks for the support....

    Arin,
If you have a development company test this.....
    use:
    Financials>Exchange Rate Differences
Check Business Partner and uncheck G/L Accounts
    Enter Code from To
    enter Excecution Date
Make sure you have all your Exch Accounts set
    and Execute
Have a look at the outcome, it may help, it would be better then having a balance in FC me thinks!

  • Problem while 're-posting' a cancelle Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing a problem while re-posting an Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference. I say re-posting because this invoice was previously posted and reversed on the same date. Here is the scenario along with the relevant postings:
    1)
G/R is posted in September when the exchange rate for dollar was, say, Rs. 49 = 1 USD.
    Posting:
    Service A/C.....100 USD (Rs. 4900)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (Rs. 4900)
    2)
MIRO is done in October, when the exchange rate was, say, Rs. 48 = 1 USD. Thus, the exchange difference posting was done in the respective accounts.
    Posting:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To Vendor A/C...........90 USD (Rs. 4320)
To TDS A/C..............10 USD (Rs.  480)
To Exch. Difference A/C. 0 USD (Rs.  100)
This was the correct entry, however we missed out some TDS codes and thus needed to reverse this entry and repost it.
    3)
Now this invoice was reversed (T.Code MIRO) in october itself on exactly the same date on which invoice was created, and it resulted in the following postings:
    Vendor A/C......90 USD (Rs. 4320)
    TDS A/C.........10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (4800, i.e. 48 * 100, Rs.48 being the exchange rate in october)
    4)
Now when we try to post MIRO again, it is posting the following entry:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......97.96 USD (Rs. 4800)
Exch. Difference A/C.....2.04 USD (Rs.    0)
         To Vendor A/C........... 85 USD (Rs. 4080)
         To TDS1 A/C............. 10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To TDS2 A/C.............  5 USD (Rs.  240)
This is a wrong entry. SR/IR clearing A/C should have been debited by 100 USD (Rs. 4900), and the Exch. Rate difference account should have been credited by 0 USD (Rs. 100)
Can someone please help us with this. What the system seems to be doing is, that when the Invoice was reversed, the value that got reversed for SR/IR Clearing A/C was 100 USD but with Rs. 4800 instead of Rs. 4900. Now, when we try to repost the invoice, the system divided this value by the exchange rate prevalent in September, i.e. Rs. 49, thus the resultant value 97.96 USD (i.e.  4800 / 49).
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Angad Nagpal

    Solved.
The final entry is correct, as the net result in the G/L balances is the same. For further information please refer to notes 116250 and 46564.
    Thanks!

  • Problem while posting FI document through BAPI - Multiple Exchange Rates

I am able to post FI document with multiple exchange rates for the same currency using FB01. But, when I try to post the same document details using BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST , it throws an error F5 701 - Inconsistent Rate for Currency XXX .
How can we avoid this error while posting through BAPI ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nidhi

    Hi Nidhi,
    Value range
The field CURR_TYPE (currency type) describes the role played by a
        currency in the SAP System.
The currency type can take on the following values, for example:
        o   00      Transaction currency
        o   10      Company code currency
        o   20      Controlling area currency
        o   30      Group currency
        o   40      Hard currency
        o   50      Index-based currency
        o   60      Global company currency
If an entry is not made in the field CURR_TYPE, the default value "00"
        is retained.
If only one data record is transferred in transaction currency for each
line item, the field CURR_TYPE does not need to be filled out. If
several data records are transferred for each line item, the currency
type must be entered for each record.
If the parameter CurrencyAmount is filled with the currency fields,
a complete document check including characteristics and value
components of profitability analysis (CO-PA). Otherwise, the account
    assignment objects are checked.
    Check the BAPI documentation SE37.

  • Exchange rate differecen to be posted to different WBS in forex p/o

    Dear Friends,
Pls note my client hv budget allocations in WBS & thru this only the procurement activities are happening. In case of import p/o the exchange rate is displayed by default when you enter the date but when the G/R-IR happens the exchange rate differs and the difference is posted to the respective stock account as per the customization settings. Their requirement is they want the system to post this exchange rate difference to different WBS along with G/L account automatically which they shall create only for this. I tried this OBYC (KDM) but their only the G/L can be assigned & not WBS.
Kindly help if any configuration settings needs are required ?
    Thank You
