Irritating "Network Error" Popup

Hello!
iChat is set to launch at startup. Once the OS has loaded and apps are launching, I immediately get a "Network Error" popup from iChat saying that it appears my network is not connected. Usually my wireless is starting up while this message is appearing. Once my wireless has engaged, the box does not go away, neither does iChat connect. I have to manually click "Available".
Can I make this box go away? I am currently having to click this box closed every time I start up.
Thanks,
Brooke

Hi Brooke,
What may work is to go to System Preferences > Accounts and Your Mac account.
Select the Login Items
Delete iChat.
Re-add it to make it the last item in the list.
I am not quite sure why your wireless connection is not seen properly before this.

  • Network Error in Client Full System Restore

    Hi,
I've been attempting, as a test, to restore a full system backup to a client computer using a boot flash drive. When I attempt to do so, I get a "Unknown Network Error" at the point where the client has attempted to contact the server, been unable
to and offered the opportunity to enter a name or an IP address. When I enter either one, I immediately get an "Unknown Network Error". There's no error number or other specific identifying informations.
    Details:
The client computer is a UEFI motherboard PC running Windows 7 Professional. It connects with no difficulty whatsoever on a normal basis to the Windows 2012 R2 Essentials server. It gets backed up every night by the server over the network with no problem.
When I boot from the Network Client Computer Restore USB key, everything works fine except that it is unable to find network drivers. When given the chance to load missing drivers, I use the "Drivers for Full System Restore (from the full system backup)"
on another USB key and they are found just fine.
Then when we get to the point of searching for the server, it appears to look for 30 seconds or so, then a dialog comes up asking whether to search again or if I want to enter a IP or name. Searching again doesn't yield results, and when either an IP or
the server name is entered, I get the "Unknown Network Error".
I feel certain there must be some logging that is either available or could be turned on if I knew how. I feel concerned that I would not be able to restore my client computer if something were to happen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Jeff

    Hi Justin,
Thanks for your response. I'm sorry that I didn't see it sooner - I guess I assumed I'd get an email if there was a response...
Anyway, at the time when the error occurs, the OS is not running. We have just booted via PXE over the network and started the "Full System Restore" Wizard, so it is not possible to "ping" the server. However, the fact that we successfully
booted via PXEs tells me that basic connectivity exists to the server, because otherwise the PXE boot wouldn't work.
Thanks for the pointer to the logs - I'll check them.
What I have done since I last updated was to do a few experiments. I added a Windows 7 boot image and install image with the Windows Distribution Service, so that on PXE boot I'm given 2 options - a Full System Restore and a Software Install.
I also roped another PC into service, one that is running from BIOS rather than UEFI. On that PC, both the System Restore and Software Install via PXE boot work fine. This tells me the server is at least nominally working, and that the problem is related
somehow to the specifics of the PC being connected. Could be server setup still, could be something on the PC.
On the computer with the UEFI, neither Full System Restore nor Software Install works. However, there is at least a clue in the error response from the Windows Setup - I get a lengthy error message that essentially says that \Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgr.EFI
is corrupted. I'm not clear whether at this point we are referring to a file extant on the PC or one that is being downloaded that's being claimed to be corrupted.
This took me down a path in which, to eliminate variables, I changed the boot drive on the UEFI system from MBR to GPT. No joy. Also broke up my mirrored drive and changed the SATA from RAID back to AHCI. Also no joy. But everything I am reading is leading
me to believe that the problem has to do with the fact that my target PC has a UEFI BIOS. I continue to investigate - and will look through the logs you mention.
    Jeff
    Update 8/24/2014
Made some progress yesterday. I'm now able to use Windows Deployment Service to deploy Windows 7 over the network to the UEFI computer. I had to do two things to get that to work.
Turn off driver signing in the UEFI bios. That got me past the error screen complaining about a corrupted driver (which I'm pretty sure I don't have). But then it got hung up saying it couldn't find a driver for the network.
To fix that, I added the driver package to the boot image using the tools in the Windows Deployment Service applet.
After that, it found the server just fine, allowed me to authenticate, and would have proceeded to install Windows 7 if I hadn't aborted.
I then added the exact same driver package to the Full System Restore boot image, but it made absolutely no difference. Exactly the same symptoms as reported previously.
So, where am I and what do I know?
I can do both a Remote Windows 7 install and Client Full System Restore using Windows Deployment Services on an X64, BIOS based computer.
I can do a Remote Windows 7 install to my X64 UEFI based computer.
When I attempt a Client Full Restore to the X64 UEFI computer, I get all the way to the Full System Restore Wizard, which tells me that it can't find network drivers (even when they've been installed to the boot image). It finds network drivers when provided
via a USB key, but then when the Wizard looks for the server, it's unable to find it. When a manual option is presented, and I enter the server's IP address, I get an "Unknown Network Error" popup message, and I can't proceed further.
On the UEFI computer, I've tried all combinations of Compatibility Support Module (CSM) settings, but they make absolutely no difference to the Full System Restore process.
I've also tried converting the boot disk from MBR to GPT, didn't make any difference.
I "unmirrored" my mirrored RAID drives and changed the SATA bios from RAID to AHCI. Made no difference.
So, at this point I'm kind of stuck. I'm out of ideas for things to try for now. I did look at the logs as suggested, but didn't see much of anything relative to WDS. Possibly logging has to get turned on?
As always, any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Data network errors when manually switching from 3g to 2g

    Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been posted before but im running out of ideas! - Got my iphone 4 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed a rather irritating problem with it. For some reason, if i manually switch from 3g to 2g the data connection drops.. I get 'cannot activate cellular data network' errors and i have to toggle airplane mode on/off to reset the connection. Is this a network issue? - I live in London and am with Vodafone... Their tech support are useless as all they suggest is resetting the phone or getting it replaced. Its my third handset in 2 weeks and im getting close to calling it a day and sending the phone back to Apple. Anyone out there in a similar situation? - Advice??

    Bump
So no-one has suffered this issue? - Not even fellow vodafone uk users?

  • Error popup in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

I keep getting an error popup message that reads:
Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website.
It also has a checkbox to hide this message.
I've seen on the forum to turn off the notifications but then I won't know about updates. I have the current version of 11.0.05
Any idea why this might be happening?

    Hi JoeDiffDez,
There might be chance either the security software is blocking Adobe to search for updates over the internet or it could be issue with your computer while communication over the network that it is being redirected from the path everytime.
You may try to reset internet explorer back to default settings . For help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.
Also you can try to rename the host file on the computer : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
Or you can download the update manually from adobe com and install : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows

  • Kill the Network Stalling popup!!!

Does anyone know how to stop iTunes from throwing up the "Network Stalled" popup? It’s absolutely, completely, and infinitely infuriating. I simply don't care if the network is having an issue. I especially don't want a popup coming up randomly while I’m trying to do other more important things….like work. I loose window focus on what I’m working on and either have to wait for the window to close or grab my mouse to click back on what I was doing. All the while I’ve lost my place and wasted time on something I can’t change or fix. And, to add insult to injury, when the window comes up, the specific focus is on the “Stop” button. Therefore, if I’m typing and the window pops up before I can stop, my key presses cause the “Stop” button to be clicked and iTunes stops playing. It would be fine if the message displayed in any of the iTunes status message areas within the application. But, it’s completely pointless and counterproductive for anyone to endure the current behavior.

As an addendum to this post, hopefully Tech staff gets messages from this forum: ANYTIME iTunes has a dialog box it Steals the Window Focus. This should only happen when a severe error will affect the entire computer. I have had multiple dialog boxes dismissed without being read becuase I was typing along and iTunes stole the window focus and the space bar dismissed a box before I knew what happened. I then had to use the mouse to go back to the application where I was actually getting some work done. Please fix this in the next release!

  • Flash Player error popup

Based on what logic Flash Player raises error popups? When do we get it and when do we not?
    Thanks

The same thing as the debugger version, but no popup is shown.  No code that was supposed to run after the exception is run in that frame, and then the next frame or input or network event runs code again (which could throw other errors if they depended on code that was not run.

  • Robohelp Multiscreen Output is showing random script error popups

Generated multiscreen output clean with no errors; however, simply browsing final output is creating these script error popups like those shown below - Help - this needs to be fixed ASAP...

Are you viewing this locally or on a web server? There are known issues with IE11 at the moment and this could be related.
Try moving the help to a web server and see if it still errors. Note web server, not network server.

  • Software update - networking error (Mac OS 10.4.11)

    Hi everyone,
I've been having problems running software update on my 867 MHz Powerbook G4. Every time I try to run software update, I get the same message: "A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
    I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11.
My network is running fine, and I've run Network Diagnostics several times fully through to confirm this.
I've tried repairing the disk permissions through disk utility a few times, and nothing's changed.
I tried copying three files from my Library / Preferences folder, along with my Caches folder (after reading that this could fix the problem), but still, software update doesn't work.
I tried running the 10.4.11 combo update for PPC, rebooted in safe mode, and repaired my disk permissions again, but still, no luck.
There's another problem that might be related: Safari can't load pages. Firefox 2.0.0.18 works fine, but Safari doesn't do anything. Also, closing the Safari window (Ctrl + W) doesn't work, quitting the program is the only way to make it go away.
Thanks in advance for the help, it's much appreciated!

Hi James, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To expand a bit on Sig's great advice...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Also, how much free space do you have on your HDD?

  • Trying to download iOS 7.1 and I get a "Network Error" message. How can I fix this?

Hello. Today iOS 7.1 came out and I want to get it.  I currently do not have 2.5GB of free storage on my iPhone 5s so I wanted to use iTunes to download and install iOS 7.1.  The problem is that every time I try to download iOS 7.1 I get a "Network Error" message (screenshot provided).  The alternative I tried to use is downloading the IPSW file directly from the internet but I also get a network error (screenshot provided).  I was able to download anything and everything else I wanted to download today but only get this error when downloading an Apple IPSW file.  I downloaded iOS 7.0.6 less than a week ago through iTunes and didn't have an error but with iOS 7.1 I am having many difficulties.  I disconnected my internet and tried again but still no success.  Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem?  Any input will help!  Thanks so much!
    The error through iTunes
    The error through Google Chrome

Try directly from your device. I had the same problem but it updated when i tried from the device itself.

  • A network error occurred while accessing this document on the internet

    Dear all,
I am now facing a very unusual problem that, when I try to open a pdf file from internet, it says: "A network error occurred while accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?". Here's my situation:
    Browser: IE8 (or Chrome 35.0.1916.153)
    Adobe Reader: 11.0.0
    OS: Win7
1.Directly open from IE. Says: "A network error occurred while accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?"
2.Try to download(Save AS). In IE, says: "The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"; In Chrome, nothing happened, but still can't download.
3.Try to disable the "PDF Reader Addon" in IE8. First the browser needs to download the PDF file, but failed, see point 2.
1.I can open the same PDF file from another network, that is, out of my company.
2.I can open another PDF file in the network of my company, but the pdf is created by another scanner
3.All PDFs from both scanner can be opened locally.
So, here's the possible problem, the network settings, and(or) the PDF. Does anyone ever meet this situation, please help?
    Thank very much.
    Li

    Rave,
    IE: 8 & 9
    Adobe Acrobat Pro/Acrobat Reader 10.x & 11.x
    Chrome: work fine
So the answer is to manually enable and disable websites based on whether the pdfs open within the browser.  That doesn't seem like a great long-term solution to have have our users to manually enable / disable browser integration.  We have web applications that work better with browser integration turned on.  Is this something that Adobe will fix or is it an IIS/IE issue.
It appears the Adobe removed the #1 config option that you lised in the new 11.x versions of both products.  The manage Add-ons does not disable the browser integration on the new Adobe versions.

  • Problem signing in to adobe reader. Have a valid account but keeps coming up 'network error'.

Had a problem signing in to my adobe reader account for about a week now.
Use the PDF pack to convert Excel into PDF and have been using this for 6 months without any previous issues.
Just comes up with 'network error occurred while trying to sign in' but my network is working fine and no other problems with my computer or network.
I have tried unloading and reinstalling the PDF pack but makes no difference.
    Completely stuck, please help!

    Hi Sara,
    Thanks for the quick response.
I am using the latest version or Reader XI.
I can log in direct through cloud.acrobat.com so that is a way around the
issue but I still need the use of the PDF pack ideally.
If I try to log in to acrobat.com via the adobe Reader XI homepage then it
comes up with the following - "We cant seem to find the internet. Please
check your connection and try again"
I am using my home wifi connection with no problems on any other computers
    or devices.

  • A network error occurred while trying to communicate with the server.

    Hello All,
I am getting some new error messages when opening the server app on my Mac Mini server running OS X 10.8.2 and Server 2.2.1. First I get a message that says "A network error occurred while trying to communicate with the server." and then after trying to open some of the service panes, I get additional errors that say "Multiple errors occurred on the server while processing commands." The services don't load and I just see "Error Reading Settings" in the server app.
I started to get these errors when I added a new website to the server. All the services are working fine but I cannot access them in the server app.
In console I'm seeing these errors when I try to access various services:
2/24/13 8:02:12.692 PM Server[956]: Error: The server '10.0.1.150' reported an error while processing a command of type: 'readSettings' in plug-in: 'servermgr_dns'. I have already restarted the server and used terminal to stop and start postgres. Any more thoughts on how to repair this?

Just as I had suspected, the whole GUI crashed because of certificate problems. After two and a half hours with enterprise support, it turns out the com.apple.servermgrd certificate in the server keychain had become corrupt.
We determined this by typing https://127.0.0.1:311 into Safari and we could see all the server modules and interact with them through the web interface. All the services were working properly as well so we knew that it was just the Server.app GUI that simply couldn't read settings that was causing the problem.
So, first we closed the server app. Went into /var/servermgrd and deleted all the files from this folder. Then, in Keychain, deleted the com.apple.servermgrd certificate. Did a search for com.apple.servermgrd in Keychain and deleted everything else that came up for it.
Then restarted the server. Now the server app was able to properly connect to the services in the background and read them properly. This was the jist of the troubleshooting that solved the problem. It also seems like DNS is causing problems because that is the only service that will not read right but is functioning properly in the background.
I will post an update once Apple figures out what is wrong with DNS. Hope this helps anybody else having these problems.

  • Error popup im not sure if its to do with firefox , a box appears with a looks like a film icon with several dots in the bottom

i have a persitant error popup whilst on my computer , it looks like a film icon and has several dots in the bottom of it , i have tried to investigate but come up with no solution , when i use firefox to clean my comp there is lots of mgbites for this error message , so i have taken google of and that seems to have stopped the error message in the ccleaner but it still keeps popping up , can anyone solve this for me

First, let me thank you again for your time and attention to my inquiry. I do wish Firefox and the Mozilla community well -- and I would agree that not nearly everyone who has downloaded version 4 has complained.
OTOH, I don't know what your multiplier is -- that is, how many downloaders on average actually having some kind of problem it takes for one of them/us to find it worth her/his time and trouble to input complaints this way. And thousands of messages does also still add up to quite a number of different problems. And my PC is old enough that it is perhaps more susceptible to problems and limitations.
So I have downloaded version 4 -- but I'm not planning to install it immediately . . . not until I have the time and patience accumulated to handle installation and its problems, whether they're teething problems or teasing problems or absolute lockdown/drag-out fights.
