Is 700 pixels the standard, safe page width?

Is the standard width for a page still 700 pixels? Or more? Mine are all set at 700 but I am considering widening them to 800. What would be a downside? Would some monitors be unable to see an 800-pixel page?????

The "real" answer to your question:
You are the Web page author and you get to decide the browser page width.
I get thousands of page "hits" each month but most of my pages do not set the browser page width (they scale based on the user settings).
iWeb "default" page width (700 pixels) will work in any browser but my "stats" from page visitors show about only 10% have a page width setting under 800 pixels. The rest all have larger settings.
The Web page author must also consider other "mobile" devices that may be viewing their pages and, if you target them, you should make a single page code that works for all visitors.
If you get feedback that your visitors are having trouble viewing without scrolling then your page width is too large. If your own viewing experience at your pages changes the text layout to a design that you don't like then you can always go back and reduce page width.
What I do know is people don't like to scroll "sideways" but nearly always expect to scroll down.

No on the book title, no problem there.
The issue is: my book pages appear as on white paper, no background that resembles a open book and also no option to change fonts. The book was created in iBooks author, there was a problem going with the "Publish" menu route so I was instructed my Apple to "export" the file and submit that. I think that's the problem after reading that iBooks author is a hybrid epub file.

Change the Light Framework page width

I have a requirement that I need to change the Light frame work page width like the latest SDN site.
Instead of expand the portal page to full window I want to align to the center of the window.
Just I want similar to the latest www.sdn.sap.com .
I tried with the com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par. Can any one know where I need to change doe width?
I am trying to align light frame work page with the 3 column (Narrow:Width:Narrow) layout.

Hiding Employee data from the Standard Compensation Page.

Hello All-
We are using the standard Iview for Compensation planning. In this page once we select the org unit for comp. adjustment we can see the list of all employees and their adjustments. If we click on any employee then a new window will popup which is having the following sub parts ( Employee General data, compensation eligibility, compensation guidelines, Salary Survey). In the Salary Survey we see different parts like Salary Range, Survey Data, Employee Data.
We have a business reason to hide the Employee Data. So Is there any backend SAP tables that I can use to hide this data? or is there any way to hide this data?

In this case u cant make the change at view.
May be a second option is make a copy of RFC, Webdynpro and ours structures (used inside RFC) and change the aplication. If you make the copy, you need a new deploy of model data and metadata inside Portal.

Jave files you can get from JAVA_TOP under specified path and XML files for pages you can get from APPL_TOP>product_top>MDS folder.
While customizing the seeded objects make sure you are not going to modify any seeded object, try to extend it.

Standard Page Width

I am going to tackle my first fireworks project.
With there being so many more wide screen monitors now, what is the current standard for page width?

You do whatever fits your project and the expected user base.
That said, a number of people like 960, because it is evenly divisible by so many numbers and so is flexible for dividing into columns.

Issue with adding a new value to the Default Login Page

Hopefully this is an easy one guys, I've added a select list item to the standard login page (P101) to allow the user to select a DOMAIN as well as entering their username and password.
When the next page is displayed and I try to retrieve the value held in the new field it has been cleared, but the values entered into items
P101_USERNAME and P101_PASSWORD are still present.
I can't figure out why the values held in items P101_USERNAME and P101_PASSWORD are still present but P101_DOMAIN has been cleared.
I've tried creating a value on page zero and writing the domain value to it using pl/sql and javascript but as soon as the next page is requested the value is cleared.
Any Ideas how to get around this????

please note the random number assigned to you. Once you login, the same number will appear on the page 1 (near to the top).
So, that is how you could solve your problem.

Hi,
You need to FTP all the files that are related to your page.
What is your exact requirement ? You can make the changes to the page even without FTP all the files and it depends on your requirement.
For example, if you want to extend a controller, then just move the standard controller and create a new java class extended from that controller. Later you can compile the same on unix box. So there is no need to FTP all the files.
Yes, whatever class file you FTP, you need to put those at \jdevhome\jdev\myclasses.

When the Employee pressed the Save button and if the status of timecard is Approved/Submitted , a popup should display.
I have created a page with two buttons (Yes and No) with warning "By clicking yes, all previously submitted versions of this timecard will be retracted. The Timecard will need to be resubmitted and reapproved. Are you sure you wish to continue?"..
If Employee pressed Yes...I need to save the timecard and normal process should follow..
Here even if I called the PFR of the TimecardListCO(Standard) controller, It's not working.
Is there a way to create the page dynamically with two buttons ?So that I can write the code in the extended controller itself rather than creating a new page.
Which method should I follow to implement this?

Error when trying to customize the Information.htm page in LSO 300

Hello,
I did a custom page to replace the standard information page in LSO 300. But when point to the new object in table
LSPAGE_ALIAS_C its not shown properly. The custom page is a copy of the standard but it begins with 'z'.
If I point to a standard page in the table, for example catalog.htm or navigation.htm its shown properly.
Testing in backend also is ok.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Modifying Standard JSP pages of UCES

Hi Folks!!!
We want to customise the standard JSP pages of the UCES6.04, I have defined a track in DI with all the dependcy components. Imported to NWDS and tried to develop a project everything is fine. But I am not able to find the standard JSP pages of UCES component here. Am I missing any thing. But when i try to create any jsp pages or some onject i am able to use the standard classes and othe functionlities of the dependent components.
Is there any thing we need to do to edit the jsps of any component like UCES or Useradmin.

Page numbers navigation bar instead of the standard first-next-previous-last

I want to add page numbers to my navigationbar instead of the standard "first next previous last".
For example I have a repeat region with a navigation bar (standard) I have 7 records per page and I would like it to say at the bottom:
1 2 3 4 5 ect. Is there any way I can code this up with php or with dreamweaver or is there an other way to do this.

frustrated because I wanted to do something with repeated
div's in a
liquid site. But the Recordset Paging s.b. locks the number
of records
per page to a fixed number. I'm trying to figure out how to
make the
records per page a variable that's determined by the window
width. I've
created a liquid site with a products page that contains both
text and
thumbnail product images. The text occupies 2/3 of the width
of the
window, and the div container that holds the floated div
thumbnails I
want to account for the other third. The thumbnail div's are
produced by
a WHILE statement and I want them to be paged based on the
number of
div's that will fit within a container that occupies a
percent of the
browser window width. Here's what I've got so:
