Is a 64-bit Linux RDBMS appliance on a Windows 7 64 bit host available?

I have Cloudera Hadoop running with no issues. All I have are 32-bit Oracle Linux environments. It appears I need a 64-bit Oracle environment to install the connector because it has to have Hadoop installed atop of it.
It there a 64-bit Oracle Linux virtual box or VM appliance for a Windows 7 64 host that I can use for testing? Even better, one that has the HADOOP connector and SQL Loader already installed?
Rob

We are planning a VM that will have 64 bit Linux with single node Hadoop, connectors and a database. I will post a note when it is available.
Meanwhile, it is straightforward to have a 64 bit Oracle Database install and then add the Hadoop client that one of the connectors needs. The connectors documentation points to instructions for installing the Hadoop client.

    Dear Eva,
    Yes, you can move to the 64 bit platform with SQL Server 2005 according
    to note 960769.
    Information in note 905634 means there is no installation DVD for
    release 47x110 for SQL Server 2005. So it is not possible to do a fresh
    installation of 47x110 except if you follow the workaround of note
    899111 (for x64).

  • Error when using 64-bit host in send port

    Guys,
    I am trying out a simple message routing scenario. I have created a send pipeline and have used the MIME/SMIME component in the encoding stage of the pipeline. My application has a receive and a send port with receive port configured to receive *.xml documents
    and is using XMLReceive pipeline. My send port uses the pipeline I have explained above and contains a filter to BTS.ReceivePortName=="[receive port in the application]". The send port is also configured to use a certificate. The send handler is the 64-bit
    BizTalk host. When I drop a message in the receive port, message in the send port gets suspended with error "Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {254B4003-2AA7-4C82-BB2E-18BA7F22DCD2} failed due to the following error: 80040154
    Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
    " However when I use a 32-bit host message on the send port gets encrypted as I expect. Has anyone faced this issue before and found a solution? BTW I am using BTS 2010 on 64-bit machine

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa559177(BTS.10).aspx
    This occurs because the MIME pipeline component is not supported in a 64-bit host instance. To resolve this, the host associated with the send and receive handler for the file adapter must be configured as a 32-bit only host. For more information on this
    see How to Modify Host Properties. If you already have a 32-bit only host configured on the system and want to use it see Configuring the File Adapter for instructions on configuring the host(s) associated to the file adapter’s send and receive handler.

  • Problem about Biztalk SAP adapter running on 64-bit host instance.

    Hi there
    Both 32-bit and 64-bit host instances are running. We use WCF-Custom adapter to communicate with SAP. And for WCF-Custom adapter, we assigned a 64-bit host.
    We copied all the library files in rfcsdk32bit to folder Windows\System32, and those in rfcsdk64bit to folder Windows\SysWOW64.
    All is going just fine until we can not enable the receive location retrieving data from SAP with WCF-Custom adapter and BindingType sapBinding. Error information as below:
    Reason: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Adapters.SAP.SAPGInvoker.dll' or one of its dependencies.  is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)

  • Installing Essbase Server on Linux, Other essbase components on windows.

    Hello all,
    We are planning to upgrade from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.2. We have just the essbase server installed on linux and other essbase components like Essbase Administration Services, essbase integration services, provider services installed on Windows. My question is how do I go about gathering files to install just the Essbase Server on Linux and other Components on Windows. I have gone through the Media Pack doc for Windows 2008 64(on which we plan to install the other essbase components). In that if I click on the files needed for essbase(listed as essbase plus) it gives me all the files needed to install essbase components.Which means(correct me if am wrong) on a server where am planning to install just essbase components like Provider services, Essbase Admin Services and provider services it gives me the files needed for Essbase server as well, which I donot need. So how do I go about accomplishing this. Or are there any other ways to achieve what am trying to do.
    Thanks,
    Ted.

    Awesome, thats what I thought, so in that case, if I want to install Essbase server on Linux, I have to download the essbase files for linux and select only the essbase server while installing, and if I want to install essbase components on windows, I have to download the same set of files but for Windows OS and select to install only the essbase components that I need. Is that right?
    Thanks,
    Ted.

  • What's the recommended setting for "Process memory usage" ("process virtual" in UI) for a 64-bit host on a 64-bit OS?

    Hi gurus
    In resource based throttling, what's the recommended setting for "Process memory usage" ("process virtual" in the resource based throttling tab of the UI) for a 64-bit host
    on a 64-bit Windows OS?
    According to MS (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee308808(v=bts.10).aspx):
    "By default, the
    Process memory usage throttling threshold is set to 25. If this value is exceeded and the BizTalk process memory usage is more than 300 MB, a throttling condition may occur. On a 32-bit
    server, you can increase the Process memory usage value to 50. On a 64-bit server, you can increase this value to 100. This allows for more memory consumption by the BizTalk process before throttling
    occurs."
    Does this mean that 100 is the recommended setting for a 64-bit host on a 64-bit Windows?
    Thanks
    Michael Brandt Lassen

    Hi Michael,
    Recommended setting is the default setting which is 25 .dot.
    If your situation is abnormal and you see message delivery throttling state to “4” when the following performance counters are high or if you expect any of you integration
    process could have impact on following counters, then you can consider the suggestion by Microsoft. Don’t change the default setting.
    High process memory
    Process memory usage (MB)
    Process memory usage threshold (MB)
    You can see these counters under “BizTalk:MessageAgent”
    You can gauge these performance counter and its maximum values if have done any regression/performance testing in your test servers. If you have seen these counters having
    high values and causing throttling, then you can update the Process memory usage.
    Or unexpectedly you’re process high throughput messages in production which is causing these counters to go high and cause throttling, then up can update the Process memory
    usage.
    The above two cases where I know my expected process usage (by doing performance testing) or suddenly my production server processing has gone high due to unexpected business
    hike (or any reasons) which caused throttling, then do changes to default throttling setting.
    Just changing the default setting without actual reason could have adverse effect where you end up allocating
    more processing capacities but the actual message processing message usage ever is low means you end up investing in underutilised resources.

  • How can i prove rac on linux is better than on windows ?

    Hi all,
    Is there any document or any thread on this forum which will help me prove that RAC on linux is better than on windows. Actually i did not recommend to my management windows os for RAC, now the management wants the reason why did not recommend windows. I want some sort of proof or any document to prove my point. Please help ......

    > now the management wants the reason why did not recommend windows
    Then give them reasons. TCO. In-house experience and skills with Linux. Official support from vendors like Sun for Linux on their servers. Linux being used as the core development platform for Oracle. Linux proven as a cluster-based operating system - it leads the supercomputer/cluster market by a significant percentage.
    According to www.top500.org (listing the 500 fastest/biggest computers clusters on this planet)*:
    Operating System Family Top500
    Linux 85.20 %
    Mixed 6.80 %
    Unix      6.00 %
    Windows 1.20 %
    BSD Based 0.40 %
    Mac OS 0.40 %
    * (In other words, if Linux is good enough to run 85% of the world's fastest computers, it is more than good enough to run your company's RAC)
    There are numerous sound reasons for choosing Linux over Windows. But do not make performance claims that you cannot ever hope to backup with technical evidence.

  • How to call a Linux exe from LabVIEW for Windows

    Hello,
    I need to call a non-LabVIEW Linux executable using LabVIEW for Windows. Any suggestions, aside from buying LabVIEW for Linux?
    Thank you,
    Chris White

    Okay, I'll throw out a few ideas and I'll let you pick which one you may think is easiest.
    1. Use the internet toolkit ($$$) or build a simple telnet client yourself in LabVIEW (use the TCP VIs in labview). This would allow you to connect to the telnet port of your linux box, login, password, and execute a command. (You'll probably want to use nohup, do a man on nohup to find out more).
    2. Install SSH daemon on your linux box, and an ssh client on your windows machine. You can't get SSH for windows from cygwin. This would be more secure, and you wouldn't need to use the TCP VIs, you could simply use the "system exec" vi to call SSH.
    3. On your linux box, install your app in inetd. Then, whenever someone connected to a certai
    n port # on the linux box, it would execute your command. A little dangerous because someone might try to connect 50 million times (or a port scan) and kill your box. You also wouldn't be able to send a dynamic command line argument.
    4. Write a small TCP application on your linux box to wait for connections (listen for command line options) and execute your command.
    You'll probably find one of these options ideal depending on your administration and programming background.

  • 32 bit Host running on 64 bit machine

    Hi All,
    I am running biztalk on 64 bit computer. I know we can configure 32 bit host on 64 bit computer.
    My question is  will there be any negative impact or performance hit? Can this configuration create any issue in future?
    Thanks

    First the impact on usage point of view,
    running
    FTP adapter, POP3 adapter, and MIME Decoder on 64-bit host instances is not supported. So you got to have 32-bit host instance configured for these adapters.
    You don’t have option, so no performance comparisons if you want to use host instances on these adapters.
    FYI, SQL adapter in BizTalk 2013 and R2 does support 64-bit. This was the case until BizTalk 2009. Things have changed from BizTalk 2010 onwards (I think change happened in BTS
    2010, I am sure SQL adapter is supported in 64 in BizTalk 2013/R2). Reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa560166.aspx
    For all other adapters and processes:
    Since you’re checking the performance impact of 32-bit host instances in 64-bit product, it’s better to understand the background and its impact in BizTalk process.
    On Windows x64, 32-bit host instance under WOW64 and may utilize the full 4GB of virtual memory i.e  4 GB can be addressable ((2^32) in BizTalk
    application which is "large address aware" app. On this 4 GB, 2GB are allocated for applications handles (user mode), and 2GB for the Kernel handles –OS. However, 32-bit applications may not be able to
    create as many threads under WOW64 as they can when running natively on x86-based systems because WOW64 allocates an additional 64-bit stack (usually 512 KB) for each thread. In addition, some amount of address space is reserved for WOW64 itself and the data
    structures it uses. The amount reserved depends on the processor; more is reserved on the Intel Itanium than on the x64 processor. There is an impact when you compare 32 bit process in 64-bit.
    Having said this, the 4GB of virtual memory allocation is just for one host instance, But with host instance design you can have more than one host instance and allocate
    BizTalk process to different host instances based on expected load. So any performance impact due to the fact “32-bit host in 64-bit” is low and manageable with correct host instance allocation design.
    Reference:
    Performance and Memory Consumption Under 32-bit in WOW64.

  • Problems with a c++ code on a linux pc translate into java windows pc

    Hello does anyone know how I can use this c++ code in my java program.
    This is a c++ code what we use on a linux pc now I have to make the code

    void GetLocalIP(int s,struct sockaddr_in *local)

       int done=0;
       int x=0,l;
       // Get local ip addr, make information struct
       cfg.ifc_len = sizeof(ifs);
       cfg.ifc_req = ifs;
       // ioctl interface informatoin into the struct we made
       if (ioctl(s, SIOCGIFCONF, (void*)&cfg) == 0)
           l = cfg.ifc_len / sizeof(struct ifreq);
           while (!done && (x<l))
             if (strcmp("eth0",cfg.ifc_req[x].ifr_name)==0)
               memcpy(local,&(cfg.ifc_req[x].ifr_addr),sizeof(struct sockaddr_in));
               done=1;

    How do you want to "make the code for a windows pc with java" ?
    Java can use sockets directly, and you can get the Local IP address by this code..

  • Use Linux server NAT gateway for Windows domain?

    Well, I'm kinda new to this...
    I don't have a hardware router appliance, and I am short on Windows licences, so I figured that a Linux box would make a cheap NAT router (and firewall). I remembered that Linux generally can supply DNS & DHCP out of the box - but come to think of it, they are both optional.
    I didn't stop to think that the DHCP could be on the windows domain controller, but I guess it would make excellent sense to keep AD & DNS & DHCP all together on one DC... the linux box would just become a 'router appliance', nothing more.
    The second DC just DNS and AD, no DHCP - and both of them ( andall clients) pointing to the inside IP of the Linux box as the gateway.
    Thanks very much for all the suggestions, I think I'm on track now :-)

    We're short on machines and I want to set up a lab network.
    I have a 2008R2 and a 2008Standard that I want to use as domain controllers (R2 as 'primary', so to speak).
    I understand its bad practice to make DC's multi-homed, but need to set up an internet gateway to my lab network - and I was wondering if it's possible to use a handy Linux box (Centos 6) as the NAT gateway & DHCP. (Using the Linux box as an Internet gateway for my Windows domain)
    Has anybody ever done this successfully? I guess the trick would be getting DNS updates passed to the Windows NS from the Linux DHCP server??

    Flash player freeze a lot when playing Youtube videos fullscreen from Linux, but plays videos ok from Windows (CPU: AMD APU).
    When playing video in default size it's OK (windows and Linux), but when setting video in full screen, on Linux there's troubles: video is hashed (freeze every 3 seconds).

    Hi s, well congrats on getting your brother's computer up and running. On your system, you have all correct Flash Player
    files for IE and FF, as well as the SWO and SWF.
    Since the Install of Flash Player, have you installed any programs that would have added any ActiveX Controls, or any other add ons or plug-ins?
    Have you had an opportunity to see if your brother's computer has the issue you have when watching the same websites?
    Are you using any ad-block in FF(Firefox) or any pop up blocker software installed?  I can't imagine updating to FP version 10 alone would cause this.
    Is this happening only on the BBC website? Does what you watch come thru the BBC website or youtube directly?
    We have your brother's computer to use to determine what is going on. If he is able to see the BBC website and what you
    are having problems with, then we can rule out the website.
    Other browser add ons, anti-virus programs, etc. affect the browser. Even tho, no problem with vs 9. Sometimes updates
    can have an affect, even with Windows as we all know:-)
    Thanks,
    eidnolb
