Is aperature 3.3 not available for snow leopard

I just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and went to purchase Aperture 3 today.  The app store tells me that I had to have OS X 10.74 to purchase. Does this mean that I now have to purchase Lion to be able to use Aperture 3?  I was told that it would work on Snow Leopard.

In the upper left corner, choose "About this Mac."  The dialog will tell you the OS X version you're running.
Note if you're able to run the Mac App Store already then you must be on 10.6.6 or later.  The App Store came with 10.6.6.
You'll still probably want to use "Software Update" under the Apple menu to ensure you're updated to 10.6.8 first.
Do note that Mountain Lion has been announced to be coming out in July (i.e. this month) and will cost $19.99 as an update from either Snow Leopard or Lion.  So if you wait until it releases, you get it for $19.99.  If you want to buy Lion now it's $29.99, and then you may have to pay another $19.99 to upgrade to Mountain Lion from there.
If it were me, and I had a machine that could run Mountain Lion, I'd personally go that route.  You need to go to Apple's Mountain Lion page to see if your machine can run it, though, as some of the machines from 2008 and earlier cannot run it.

  • Multilngual Braille Output available for Snow Leopard

    Hello all,
My package for Braille output in languages other than U.S. English is now available for Snow Leopard. It's very easy to install, and allows uncontracted Braille to be shown on your refreshable Braille display using your own language's dotcodes.
The languages are Danish, French, German, Greek/Coptic, Hebrew, Norwegian, Russian and US Unicode (which gives the non-Latin languages). They are available as a free .dmg download from CeciMac. The site is in French, but don't worry, the Multilingual Braille package is the only .dmg download link on the home page. The installer is localised in French and English, and once it has run and you've restarted your Mac, the whole list of output languages is available via the popup menu in the Braille tab of VoiceOver Utility.
I'm currently working on a number of other languages, which will be released as soon as possible. They include Arabic, British English, Croat, Czech, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. If you want any other languages, please let me know by e-mail to conseil at anarchie dot org dot uk.
    Enjoy Snow Leopard!

    Hello again, all!
I have now added new languages to the CeciMac Multilingual Braille package.
The full list is Arabic, Danish, French, German, Greek/Coptic, Hebrew, Italian, Norwegian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and US Unicode. The pop-up menu now includes specific items for all of these, as well as the original Apple US English.
The installation instructions are only provided in English and French, but they are very simple.
To download the package, please click on the following link:

    All the best!

  • Address book and ical not working for snow leopard clients

We have upgraded our server to mountain lion from snow leopard.
At first glance all appears to have gone well, however, the ical and address book services don't appear to be working for snow leopard clients. These services DO appear to be working for lion clients.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I am at work right now and don't have access to my Mac. But I need to as if your Dad is on Windows Active Directory network? I also found these directions for Princeton's 2010 Exchange that might help. Did he set up the Address contacts & iCal Calenders were enabled when setting up the account in Mail?

  • Adobe CS6 not available for OS Leopard. Worth upgrading?

I love OS Leopard (I'm 10.8) and I love Spaces, something which I think vanishes with higher OSes—though maybe only Lion.
I'm very much interested in getting CS6 when it's released, and wouldn't mind trying the beta, but it's for 10.6.8 and above. Is OS Leopard really worth dumping just to use the latest and greatest Adobe software?
Tbh, I'm disappointed that OS 10.5 is being forgotten so soon. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. I just like being stable for years, not always upgrading and re-learning new OSes.

I think you mean 10.5.8.  10.8 isn't out yet. As for CS6, not being out yet, we can't comment on whether something is worth it.  While betas are still out there, they are subject to feedback from their testers.  If you want a beta when it is finalized to become available for older operating systems or older machines, contact the vendor of that beta and say so in their feedback page.

  • Serial Number not recognized for Snow Leopard Up to Date

Not sure where to post this question as it pertains to Snow Leopard....
Just bought a new imac but its Serial Number is not being recognized on the Snow Leopard Up to Date page. The serial number is recognized elsewhere, such as the warranty check page.
    Suggestions? Thanks

That's a shame. But I suspect it's temporary. I think you get 90 days from the date of purchase to get the free upgrade. I assume that Apple will be better able to deal with this issue as we get closer to the release date.
Meanwhile, we are not Apple employee's and can not speak for the company or guess what the problem is. Apple does have a direct Feedback site that they do read and respond to:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
For those that may have missed it or haven't tried yet, here's the sign-up page where you are supposed to be able to register online. You can also download the form and send it in the mail.

  • HP Scanjet 8250 No Drivers available for Snow Leopard 6.3.1 Help!

    Hello:
I wanted to know if anyone else using Snow Leopard 6.3.1 has run into a problem using the HP Scanjet 8250 Scanner? HP does not have drivers for this unit and does not plan on having them any time in the near future. If you know of a third party site that has drivers for it and works, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    I can confirm TeenTitan's experience.
On a clean install of 10.6.4 I installed the SANE packages referenced above.
    I then downloaded and installed:
HP Photosmart Studio: includes support for Mac OS X v10.4 and v10.5 (Leopard) v1.0 8 Feb 2008
(a newer version than referenced by TeenTitan)
The HP installer listed the correct scanner series and allowed the install to complete. After the install, but before the reboot, I received an error about /System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext not being installed correctly. The permissions were incorrect, so I did a chown root:wheel on the file and the error didn't return. For what it's worth, this same kext is a PPC kext and doesn't appear in the Extensions list of System Profiler.
So far, the only oddity I've noticed is that the pre-scan appears garbled at first. Once the scanner cycle completes, the pre-scan refreshes and looks normal. I've done several scans to PDF and the IRIS OCR looks to be working fine as well.
Thanks TeenTitan. I was going to go with SANE and the Scan Again GUI, not even imagining that HP's software would be able to work with SANE.

  • Flash Player Installed and not working for Snow Leopard

I recently installed Snow Leopard a couple days ago and everything seemed fine, but now tonight the flash player doesn't work. I use flash player for my homework for my Philosophy class and all of a sudden it doesn't work, I don't get it. I've installed, re-installed, updated, etc adobe flash player and my mac and nothings worked, I don't know whats going on. Please help.

Sorry, I know nothing about Mac OS; all I can do is point you to the troubleshooting page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html

  • RAM not made for snow leopard or lion?

    Still running leopard.
Snow leopard still gets terminal error and shuts down after heavy useage or after a period of time. have troubleshot everything to the point where my RAM is in question. I did upgrade to 32 GB RAM shortly before first attempt at installing snow leopard. Bought RAm new from trusted source-OWC. How can I determine the cause of my failure to upgrade OS?
yes, have attempted clean installs with just base software. have tried various cloning methods. different hard drives. SSD hard drive. resetting all RAM, unplugging everything, removing all windows 7 and all windows components. still get terminal shutdown errors in anything besides Leopard.

yes, better terminology would be a kernal panic.
my bad, can never remember or screen clip the proper name.
not a dust issue. mac has plenty of breathing space.
motherboard issue would present itself in either OS leopard or Snow Leopard.
checked and verified all of the RAM was working 100% with an app that checks that sort of thing.
nothing in the kernal logs consistent to determine any specific problem with a devise or a software. and, since the kernal panic happens anytime in SNow Leopard: on a clean install with no software or external hardware attached as well as a completely loaded system, by process of eliminating neither software nor the drive would not be a source of problem-error occurs tested using multiple internal hard drives.
Hopefully, Lion will fix whatever has prevented a lasting upgrade over all of this time.

  • Are there any free down loads available for snow leopard os x10.5.8?

ARE THERE ANY FREE DOWNLOADS FOR APPLE SNOW LEOPARD OS X 10.5.8?

If you're trying to upgrade the OS, no; you need to buy 10.6 on DVD from the online Apple Store.
If you're trying to download something else, it depends on the product.

  • IMessage for Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

I am on a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, with 4GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, running OS 10.6.8.
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan (p.s. the internet is pretty slow over here).
I always have my iPhone with me for taking pictures, and there are a few hotspots near the USO area where I can access the wifi and use iMessage with friends and family back in the world, email, Facebook, etc..
When I am in my room, I do have wired internet that I pay for through an ISP called sniperhill.  I use my MacBook Pro here in my room.
Is there a version of iMessage that I can install on my MacBook Pro to replace iChat and then be able to iMessage my friends and family on their iOS devices (the folks I am messaging all have iPhone 4S or newer).  I found a place to download iMessage for Mac, but after a 45+ minute download, it turned out to require 10.7 or later.  D'oh!
I use iChat sometimes to video chat with my wife and kids, but they aren't always on the MacBook at the house.  If I could iMessage them while in my room on my laptop, then we could coordinate to have them power up and hop in front of the MacBook at home, then I could use FaceTime 1.0.2 to chat with them.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    HI,
    Sorry about the delay.
I also see there are 19 "Me Too" clicks.
iMessages is the service run by Apple that basically started with the iOS devices and was a beta for a time in Lion (OS X 10.7) which also was date limited and ended on the 14th December 2012.
It is no only available with the Messages app in Mountain Lion.
FaceTime is available for Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) and can then FaceTime to those iOS devices.

  • Aperture 3.3 for Lion, but... how to install 3.2.4 for Snow Leopard?

New version Aperture (3.3) is not available on Snow Leopard (only Lion). Ok... but how to buy/reinstall Aperture 3.2.4 on my Mac of Snow Leopard?

You still  might be able to buy a boxed version of Aperture 3 at a local Apple store, but that will be much more expensive than the download from the App Store.
Since you cannot upgrade your machine to Lion, I'd stick with iPhoto, until you will invest into a new computer.  iPhoto libraries now can be opened by Aperture, so any work you invest into an iPhoto library will not be lost, once you transit.
No, I dont' want iPhoto. I need Aperture 3. It was available in the Mac App Store for Snow Leopard for a good price. At this moment I feel just cheated. Many people have a problem now - they have bought and can not update / reinstall. I can not buy. It should not be so. I'm sorry for my english.

  • What is the latest version of XCode for Snow Leopard?

I have XCode 4.0.2 for Snow Leopard installed.  Is that the latest version available for Snow Leopard?
Is Apple pushing us to upgrade to Lion to get a version newer than 4.0.2.  I see that XCode 4.2 is available for Lion.
    David.

This information might be useful for those who are not members of the $99/year iOS Developer Program.  I am not a member, I have Snow Leopard, and I purchased Xcode 4.0 for $5 from the Mac App Store in March 2011.  Just for fun I searched the app store for Xcode.  As expected, the only search result is Xcode 4.2 with stated minimum requirement 10.7 (Lion).  I am curious why it even shows Snow Leopard users the active Free button that implies I can download it.  I don't know how the app store works but I assume it would not let me install this on 10.6 Snow Leopard.
But the Purchased view shows Xcode for Snow Leopard.  I noticed the button on the right showed Update rather than Installed.  Clicking the item name to find details including the version number shows Your request could not be completed.  I decided to update in hopes this would be 4.2.  I deleted Install Xcode from my Applications folder, restarted the App Store, then pressed the Update button.  1.77GB later I have Install Xcode in my Applications folder, preview shows version 4.2 (used to show 4.0.2),
The installer just finished running, I now have Xcode 4.2 build 4C199.  About Xcode.pdf in the Developer folder starts with Developer tools for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and iOS 5.  So this is clearly not exactly the same as Xcode 4.2 for Lion.  It does include the iOS 5 SDK, LLVM 3.0, etc.  Not sure what is different in the Lion build.

  • Current iMovie '11 for Snow Leopard?

    Hi all,
I'm using an iMac at work that came pre-loaded with iMovie '09. Never had to use it until recently we've started doing some video projects, and I've become extremely frustrated with '09s lack of any sort of normal timeline. I see that '11 offers a timeline once again - great - and was once available for Snow Leopard - even better. But when I hopped into the AppStore I see that the system requirements say OSX 10.7.4 or later... which is Lion.
Is iMovie '11 no longer available for Snow Leopard?
Any suggestions?  I'm at the end of my rope with frustration over this iMovie '09 business, but I don't think my work will spring for Final Cut....
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Matt

So I decieded to try something I took my wife's computer and hooked up my external hard drive to it and copied iMovie11' from her applications folder and then copied it to my applications folder and imovie 11 works offically on 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on both our computers. So it is possible to get imovie11' on your 10.6.8. OS. You just have to fiqured out a way to get a disk or copy it from another computer. We don't have Mountain Lion but you might be able to try and copy from that and install on Snow Leopard.
    Cheers!

  • Safari for snow leopard

I use SL 10.6.8 and I have safari 5.1.10.  I like SL and have no real reason to change for my use.  I keep getting asked by Yahoo.to upgrade safari. When I hit software update it tells me there is no safari update.  So either Yahoo is wrong or software updae is wrong.  Can someone tell me what is or has happened?

You're right - if you have 5.1.10 there's nothing later available for Snow Leopard.

  • FaceTime for Snow Leopard?

Is FaceTime available for Snow Leopard? I seem to recall it was, and I even seem to recall paying for it at some point, but I don't see it on this particular Mac.
If so, are there steps posted anywhere to obtain it and set it up?

Click here. If you’ve already bought it from your Apple ID, sign into the Mac App Store with it and download FaceTime from the Purchases tab.
