Is clone Siebel server environment possible without using nsbrowse utility?

Hi, can someone give me a quick firm answer about my question "Is clone Siebel server environment possible without using nsbrowse utility?" We try to automate the Siebel server enviornment using cloning and reconfig on Linux while nsbrowse is a utility only runs on Windows. Is there some command line commands that can be used as a replacement of nsbrowse editor utility? This is very important for us to made the decision on automation strategy. Thank you very much!

"...hosted in a datacenter for high availability for when internal environment fails and the mail system is still up and running. "
Yes, Office 365 (Exchange Online) would work perfectly with DirSync.
If the requirement is for mail to work even when the internal environment is down, then do not implement AD FS because in that scenario, authentication is dependent on access to the domain controllers in the internal environment.
As for simply hosting one's own server in Azure, I just read an article that recommends against it:
- Exchange uses alot of resources. You would need a rather expensive configuration.
- You would still be responsbile for the updates.
- Your VPN connection would have to be very reliable. Exchange is constantly querying the domain controllers / global catalogs. EDIT - I see you wrote "without a VPN" - well, that's not possible. Exchange will never work directly across the Internet
like that.
I can't find the link to the article but there are others that also advise against that option:

  • How to Secure SQL SERVER 2012 Backup without using TDE or any thirdparty backup solution

    Hi Experts
Actually I was using backup set password feature for MS SQL SERVER 2008 but it is dropped in new versions (2012 & 2014). Please suggest some options to making the backups secure without using TDE or any third party tools.

    Hi khalil_pak,
The WITH PASSWORD feature didn't really encrypt your backup. It just made it difficult for someone to accidentally restore the backup when they were not allowed to. And as other post, the password option is weak and could be broken easily.
The only true way to protect the data is to encrypt the data at the source by encrypting the database with
TDE. Or you can choose to use
cell-level encryption to encrypt sensitive data.

  • How to merge hard drives without using Disk Utility?

    Hi,
Disk Utility has no visible 'Partition' tab when I click on a hard drive, so I am wondering if there is a way to merge my hard drives without using it?
A possible reason for the Partition tab not being visible is that my MacBook was set up by adminstrators at my school, and perhaps they have locked the hard drive so I cannot merge them.
Is there any way to get around that?
    Thanks!

Yes, you cannot Partition a Partition, even if it's just one Partition, you must Partition the whole disk, which may erase all your data... I forget which version of OSX it changed to allow resizing Partitions.

  • How do you fix bad blocks on an external hard drive without using disk utility

so basically does anyone know how to fix bad blocks on a external hard drive without using disk utlility please

Oh...if you have data you are trying to save then its best to try cloning the drive to another one, which should save its data as-is to another drive. Hopefully you can do so without there being hangups around the bad blocks and keep at least most of your data intact. I'd recommend you try using Carbon Copy Cloner to do this, but you will need a secondary drive that is at least the size of the data on the problematic drive.

  • Initial setup: Is it possible without using DSL?

    Hi!
My wife bought a 2TB Time Capsule, to be used only as a wireless external hard drive, as we don't need the Extreme AirPort base part of it.
She's tried to set it up a couple of times without connecting it to our DSL box, but without success.
My question is simple: Is it possible to set up Time Capsule without having to connect to the internet, and if so, how?
    Thanks in advance,

+First, your idea of connecting the Time Capsule to the modem would only be for the initial setup, right?+
To use this installation option, you would need to consider this as a permanent setup. If this will not meet your requirements, then two choices remain.
+Looks as if having two separate wireless networks might be the lesser of two evils+
Two separate networks would be the worst of two evils. If you cannot connect your modem and Time Capsule together permanently using an ethernet connection, then the next best option would be to have the Time Capsule connect to and "join" your existing wireless network. That is why I keep asking for the information to provide you with instructions to configure it this way.
If you want to go the two separate wireless network route, I just want to make sure that you understand that the Time Capsule automatically backs up any changes that you have made each hour. You will need to manually switch wireless networks for backups to occur. Do you really want to do this? If not, backups will be missed and delayed, and I cannot offer much assurance that you will have future reliable operation.
But, it's your choice and I offered to help with the setup if you will decide which route you want to take. It's either 1) Join your existing wireless network and everything will be pretty much invisible for your backups, or 2) setup a separate network and manually switch to the Time Capsule network each time you want to perform a backup. Which would you prefer?

  • How can I reformat my Mac Book Pro without using disc utility? My laptop keeps crashing, and needs to have everything reinstalled, but disc utility will no longer open, saying it 'quit unexpectedly'. I'm running Mac OS X10.6.8. I've lost install CD.

My laptop keeps crashing. This seems to happen only when it's streaming from sites such as Netflix, YouTube or Spotify.
Also, it stopped being able to run iTunes, and can't download Yosemite.
I want to wipe it and reinstall everything - I've already done a full back up.
The problem is disc utility will no longer open, saying it 'quit unexpectedly':
I'm running Mac OS X10.6.8 and I've lost install CD.
I have no idea what to do, but need to get this sorted as quickly as possible as I need my laptop for work.

Even if you could open Disk Utility you can't reformat a disk while you are booted from it. You will have to use the install CD. Ring the Apple Online Store at the number given at bottom left of this page and give them the serial number of your Mac. You should be able to get the Snow Leopard install disks for a nominal fee.

  • Moving backups to new drive -- without using disk utility restore

    Hello,
I have done some research on this already but I don't believe I've found the solution. I just bought a new media / backup hard drive, and I've moved my itunes library (over 100 GBs) to this drive. Now I have researched how to move the time machine backups to this drive, and know you can't just copy the files.
The instructions I've received tell me to use the disk utility to restore the old time machine backup drive to the new drive, however if I do that won't I lose the iTunes stuff currently on that drive?
Is there an easier way to move that data without me transferring the iTunes back to my laptop, and then restoring through disk utility, and then re-transferring the iTunes again?
    thanks,
    James

yes, you will. but it is also a VERY bad idea to keep other data on the same partition as the TM backup. first, this data will not be backed up by TM. if you value your itunes data you should have it backed up. also, TM is very buggy and there are too many situations when you need to delete existing TM backups and start from scratch. this should be done by erasing the entire TM partition. you should never delete any TM backups from finder. also, TM will eventually fill up the entire partition with TM backup. it will start bumping up against other data on the partition and you won't be able to put anything else on it.
the upshot is that you should make a separate partition just for TM. don't keep any other data on that partition. you can add a partition to the drive without disturbing your itunes data. type "create new volumes" in disk utility help to see how. however, that's not a good idea IMO as you'll have both the itunes data and the TM backups on the same physical drive. when the drive fails (and it will eventually) you'll loose everything.
Is there an easier way to move that data without me transferring the iTunes back to my laptop, and then restoring through disk utility, and then re-transferring the iTunes again?

  • Using Synchronous webservice without using SAP XI

    Hi,
I have a requirement of wherein which my client has provided me a dot net webservice which needs to be consumed in SAP R/3 using which i have to build an interface between SAP R/3 and the legacy system. This interface needs to be synchronous in nature.
Please let me know how to handle this in ABAP and is this possible without using SAP XI / PI.
    Step 1:
SAP r/3 ( sends data )------> (Webservice) Legacy system
    Step 2:
    (Webservice) Legacy system -
    > SAP R/3 (recives response from legacy system)
    Regards
    Joel

    Hi Joel,
You can use the webservie (SOAP or WS[if it is PI7.1server] adapter).
By calling the webservice from the ABAP.

  • Do i need to source application environment .env to use FNDCPASS utililty?

    Hi
In R12, do i need to source the application environment .env to use FNDCPASS utility to change passwords or not?

I think on Apps R12, it is little bit different.Immediately after login to the AIX server, i issued the following command, without setting any source environment file.By default, the oracle_home environment is \vision\apps\tech_st\10.1.2 and default directory is /home/applvis
    $ FNDCPASS
You have not provided the required arguments for this program.
    APP-FND-02703: Usage: FNDCPASS logon 0 Y system/password mode username new_passw
    ord
    where logon is username/password[@connect]
system/password is password of the system account of that database
    mode is SYSTEM/USER/ORACLE
username is the username where you want to change its password
new_password is the new password in unencrypted format
    example FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager SYSTEM APPLSYS WELCOME
    FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager ORACLE GL GL1
    FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager USER VISION WELCOME
    $
Is it correct to run the command from this directory or not? Please clarify.

  • How can you run an executable from AS2 code without using fscommand() or a projector?

Just using some short .asc files made out of Notepad for some back-end server stuff, but without using fscommand() or projectors, how can you call an executable? There's a C++ program that I want to run from more-or-less the same directory as the .asc files, which handles some logging, and I need to be able to pass it arguments when telling it to run.
Please note that I have Googled this with no useful results and that I'm on an assignment that necessitates this question. Also I'm open to the possibility that it can't be done.
    Thanks!

The swf is on a different server and using AS3.  The little bit of AS2 back-end stuff is on a few different servers that the swf is hooking up to for streaming video and audio.  The executable would be on the AS2 servers.

  • Multi-mapping with message bundling but without using BPM

    Hi all,
I have a requirement to bunch specific no. of records (say 50) from source message and create separate target messages for those bunches. For example, if the source message has 120 records, then there should be three separate target messages created containing 50, 50 and 20 records each.
I am wondering whether this multi-mapping is possible without using BPM, as the typical no. of records in the source message are in the range of 600 to 800, and rarely (twice or thrice a month) they shoot up to 2000. So my concern is whether BPM would affect the performance. We are using PI at SP12.
    Regards,
    - Shankar.

Sorry for late reply.. Well the sender is a file system, which sends a single XML file containing multiple records. (I mean I have a sender file adapter that polls periodically from a specific path and picks up the file when it is available)
The no. of records in the source file may be different in each run. The requirement on the receiver system is that it can handle a file which has maximum of 'n' records only (say 50 in my example)
Now the sender file can contain any no. of records. It may contain 10 on some day, or 200 the next day, or 120 on the third day. But on the receiver side, I want the files to be created such that each will contain AT MAX 50 records.
So, if source file has <=50 records, then there will be only 1 target file having the same no. of records.
If source file has between 51 to 100 records, then there will be two target files. One will have 50 records, and the second will have remaining records.
    And so on..
    Regards,
    - Shankar.

  • File-To-RFC without using BPM

    hey guys
is a File-To-RFC scenario possible without using BPM? i have gone through the blog by Arpit Seth ( /people/arpit.seth/blog/2005/06/27/rfc-scenario-using-bpm--starter-kit ) but it uses BPM.
i am new to XI and not very comfortable with BPM.
please let me know if BPM is the only way out or are there some other methods too.
Also under what circumstances one should use BPM?
    thanx in advance.
    aamir suhail

    Hi,
it's a standard non BPM scenario
(you can find many weblogs like this)
the only different thing is the RFC signature import
    (inside repository)
and the use of different channels (file and RFC)
you can find many examples in my XI FAQ
    (document section)
