Do i need to source application environment .env to use FNDCPASS utililty?

Hi
In R12, do i need to source the application environment .env to use FNDCPASS utility to change passwords or not?

I think on Apps R12, it is little bit different.Immediately after login to the AIX server, i issued the following command, without setting any source environment file.By default, the oracle_home environment is \vision\apps\tech_st\10.1.2 and default directory is /home/applvis
$ FNDCPASS
You have not provided the required arguments for this program.
APP-FND-02703: Usage: FNDCPASS logon 0 Y system/password mode username new_passw
ord
where logon is username/password[@connect]
system/password is password of the system account of that database
mode is SYSTEM/USER/ORACLE
username is the username where you want to change its password
new_password is the new password in unencrypted format
example FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager SYSTEM APPLSYS WELCOME
FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager ORACLE GL GL1
FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager USER VISION WELCOME
$
Is it correct to run the command from this directory or not? Please clarify.

    It's a pretty standard technique for setting default variables under *nix, no magic involved. • Source the environment file

    Shamefully I asked a question similar to this on this forum some time ago. I didnt properly understand it and so I am now going back and forth with an SA in Metalink.
    I am trying to follow this instruction:
    Log in to the APPL_TOP environment and source the environment file.
    What exactly do I do to "source the environment file".
    As the APPLMGR user, if I do this:
    apcltest@TEST:. oraenv
    ORACLE_SID = [apcltest] ?
    Should I accept that?
    Or should I go to the TEST_databasecl.env file in /oracli2/oracle/testappl and do something there??
    I can see the .env file (it is there)....but I am confused with the term "source". To "source" is to simpy verify its there???
    Such a simple step is complicating me!
    Thanks

    You are right, Dan. Looks like the env file is already sourced in the applmgr user's profile (.profile).Sorry about this, I am still a little unsure about which .env file I should be looking to "source".
    Ironically I have a multitude of "sources" telling me where I can find this .env file.
    p22 of Banerjee's "Oracle Applications DBA Covers 11i and R12" states:
    APPLSYS.env OR SID.env
    The Oracle Applications Field Guide explains (p 29):
    "In the $APPL_TOP directory, APPLSYS.env and $CONTEXT_NAME are environment files"
    When I check in the APPL_TOP here, I see several .env files. I would just like to know, for sure, which one to "source". They are the following:
    TEST.env ( I think this is the one, since it most resembles the one quoted on pages 22-26 of Banerjee's book. It gives paths to context files, AD_TOP, APPLTMP etc, NLS_LANG )
    APPSORA.env
    APPSTEST_mydbcl.env
    TEST_mydbcl.env
    Thanks

  • Application environment

         Hi,
    my stateless session EJB read application environment (a string)
    from jndi.
    This string value is prepared for saving to jndi by ejb-jar.xml DD :
    <env-entry>
    <env-entry-name>myName</env-entry-name>
    <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
    <env-entry-value>myValue</env-entry-value>
    </env-entry>
    SunONE Server 7 writes to log during deployment time :
    FINE ( 1892): Binding name:`java:comp/env/myName`
    but the code (invoked from setSessionContext() method) :
    String value (String)(new InitialContext()).lookup("java:comp/env/myName");
    produces javax.naming.NameNotFoundException
    The session EJB is part of simple application and it works fine
    with J2EE RI 1.3.1 and WebLogic 5.1 too
    (the application is compliant with EJB1.1 and it has been adapted
    for SunONE 7 app-server by asmt migration tool)
    My simple question - where is a problem ?
    Thanks ...

    Also,If we have to re-install the Visual Studio .will be there any effect on the existing 11.5.10.2 application?I belive yes it could effect your system until your install process end.

  • I need to add a new report to the application that is done using visual studio and SSRS and SQL Server 2008

    I have an application that is done using SSRS on visual studio and it connects to the report server on SQL server 2008 environment.
    I've been changing the existing reports using visual studio 2008 and modifying the reports on the report server. How do I add a new report to the application ? I created a new report and deployed it on the report server but it didn't show up in the application.
    I can access the application source code on visual studio 2010 and TFS (Team Foundation). Thanks.

    Hi,
    I have a question. This application retrieves SSRS reports from the report sever. When I download the reports
    from the SQL Server I can open them in visual studio 2008 but they don't open in visual studio 2010. I can access the application files on visual studio 2010 and team foundation server 2010. I was unable to open team foundation server 2008 on visual studio
    2008. The issue is that I am unable to add a report with a new name to the application. I use visual studio 2008 to deploy the reports on the report server but it has to be the same name to be able to run the report from the application. I can deploy any report
    on the report server but I can't access it from the application unless it has to be the same name as the present reports. If I keep the report the same name then it will replace the old report and the new report will run from the application. But only if it's
     the same name. I guess when I add a new report to the application with a new name I am supposed to add a definition in the application C sharp files  on visual studio 2010 so that the new report will show in the application. What's your opinion
    ? I have attached 2 images of the application and team foundation server 2010 and the report server.
    Thanks.

  • Can I source an environment before making a system call from the database

    I can execute system calls from the database like
    Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("env");
    but I am unable to source an environment before making the call.
    Our goal is to from within the database to execute tkprof on a
    raw trace file then load both files into clobs in a table. We can load
    the raw trace no problem, we just cannot figure out how to execute
    tkrprof on the raw trace then load its output.
    Anyone know if this is possible to hava java get a runtime and then call
    an environment file to source the environment so that path's and other environment variables are set prior to executing another system command.

    Thanks for that...but can I do multiple edits in my Stored Procedure Vaibhav and pass back something that I can then utilize in my SSIS? For example...
    One and Only one Member Span...so I'd be doing a SELECT COUNT(*) based on my match criteria or handle the count accordingly in my Stored Procedure and passing something back via the OLE DB Command and handling it appropriately in SSIS
    Are there "Diabetes" claims...again probably by analyzing a SELECT COUNT(*)
    Am I expecting too much from the SSIS...should I be doing all of this in a Stored Procedure? I was hoping to use the SSIS GUI for everything but maybe that's just not possible. Rather use the Stored Procedure to analyze my stged data, edit accordingly, do
    data stores accordingly...especially the data anomalies...and then use the SSIS to control navigation
    Your thoughts........
    Could you maybe clarify the difference between an OLE DB Command on the Data Flow and the Execute SQL Task on the Control Flow...
    You can get return values from oledb comand if you want to pipeline.
    see this link for more details
    http://josef-richberg.squarespace.com/journal/2011/6/30/ssis-oledb-command-and-procedure-output-params.html
    The procedure should have an output parameter defined for that
    I belive if you've flexibility of using stored procedure you may be better off doing this in execute sql task in control flow. Calling sp in data flow will cause it to execute sp once for each row in dataset whereas in controlflow it will go for set based
    processing

  • Sys_context not working from APEX application / environment

    I am struggling to retrieve a user-defined context value using sys_context(...) from APEX application / environment
    I have created a global context to be used as a storage mechanism for log severity to be recorded.
    CREATE OR REPLACE CONTEXT PA_LOGGER_CTX USING PA_LOGGER ACCESSED GLOBALLY;It is seeded through a function pa_logger.set_severity(1) within the package pa_logger through (excerpt):
      dbms_session.set_context(c_ctx_context_label, c_ctx_severity_label, TO_CHAR(p_severity_in));
      with:
      c_ctx_context_label     CONSTANT NVARCHAR2(16) := 'PA_LOGGER_CTX';
      c_ctx_severity_label    CONSTANT NVARCHAR2(8) := 'SEVERITY';
      p_severity_in   IN  PLS_INTEGERusing the following from sqlplus, other DB-tools, works as expected:
    -- setting it
    BEGIN
      pa_logger.set_severity(2);
    END;
    -- displaying it
    SELECT sys_context('PA_LOGGER_CTX', 'SEVERITY') FROM DUAL;returns 2
    This works from different sessions, different users ... no problem.
    Using it from within an APEX (accessed via embedded gateway/XE11.2 or OHS/11.2.0.2.0 ) application or even from the "SQL Commands" from the APEX Workspace returns a NULL value for :
    SELECT sys_context('PA_LOGGER_CTX', 'SEVERITY') FROM DUAL;And
       SELECT value  FROM GLOBAL_CONTEXT WHERE NAMESPACE='PA_LOGGER_CTX' and ATTRIBUTE = 'SEVERITY';returns the right value, which obviously defies the purpose of using the CONTEXT.
    It is as well possible to set the CONTEXT to a different value, which is picked up outside APEX, but even so using sys_context does not work, always returning NULL
    As a note aside: using sys_context with a standard CONTEXT, e.g. SELECT sys_context('USERENV', 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT') from DUAL works without any problems.
    I guess I have a conceptual break somewhere. Does this have to do with the APEX user used, wrapping within the APEX environment, the way the context is defined ....
    Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    - Thomas

    Hi Rod,
    Thanks for the time to answer. Meanwhile I found some more hints on the subject (Retrieve values from my own global context in Apex and I do now understand the concept.
    I understand that I can even clear the specific CLIENT_IDENTIFIER by issuing a "dbms_session.clear_identifier()", which then subsequently works
    Looking at the CLIENT_IDENTIFIER as set by APEX it is "<apex_login_user><apex_session>";
    I understand it is set for every DISPLAY-SUBMIT it is reset by the APEX framework.
    Hence it is not sufficient to set it for a user session; it needs to be changed for every display-submit. I can achieve this through application processes, but I am really reluctant to do so, because I do not know, if APEX relies on the CLIENT_IDENTIFIER to be set the way it is done. I suspect a purpose behind this, causing me problems elsewhere. I post this as a seprate question as this question has been answered.
    On to your point about: Using a table variable. This is the way it works currently, but allegedly using the CONTEXT would give us for the logging configuration a performance gain of about 1 dimension..... but unfortunately other problems..
    Thanks!

  • Close external window from source application

    I am trying to close the external browser window from the source application (wda). But it seems that I am unable to close from the source window, just by calling close method. This close method has a parameter '  control_to_focus_id' . I am not sure what exactly it needs to be filled with.
    But anyways these act like two separate sessions and can't communicate any longer.
    Is there a way for me to control the external window and close on some user action at source/
    Any inputs would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    External window is independent of source window, you cannot control it from source application. May I know what is your requirement!

    Hi,
    Take basis team or team lead help and do it at ECC side RSA9.
    While replicating data source applications also will replicate. You need to replicate data source under same application component.
    at bw side your application components are not exist then fron BI content you can instal lthem.

    Hi,
    This issue may be caused by corrupted files or application conflicts. I recommend you to run "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt to check the system files. In addition, you can perform a clean boot to see if any service is causing the issue.
    If the above cannot solve it, maybe you can find if there is any hotfix for the application or uninstall the application.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Combine supported files is not automatically opening and closing source applications?

    On my Vista 64 machine, suddenly, the "Combine supported files in Acrobat" has begun malfunctioning. Instead of automatically opening and closing the source application (such as MS Word), Acrobat opens the application and then asks to save a new PDF file for each source file and stalls out the conversion. This problem is not happening on my Win XP machine. I have used the 'Repair Acrobat Installation' function but the problem is not corrected.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Just to close out this thread, the bug was fixed with the latest version of Acrobat Pro Extended (9.3.3).
