Is Contact form secure

Hi, Im creating a site for a client and wondering whether the built in contact form / code generated by Adobe Muse is secure from things like spam etc. I am exporting html not uploading to BC.
Appreciate any help on the topic.
Thanks

Hello
A captcha (image verification) module can be added to the Muse forms, however, it will only work if the site is hosted with BC. You may want to use a custom form of your choice. When you have the HTML for the form of your choice, simply enter it in Muse using the Object -> insert HTML option.
Cheers

  • How to make information sent to me in my contact forms secure

    I use Dreamweaver CC and Business Catalyst.
    I want to make sure the information people send to me in my contact forms is secure!
    Does any one have advise for me on the best way I can do this?
    Thanks

    Use security protocols thorugh a secure server. Security certificates are around $100 annually.
    But if all you are looking to do is to have a form send you an email, unless it contains credit card information or other information that could be used to steal someone's identity, I think it's probably a waste of money.

  • Make a contact form information secure

    I use Dreamweaver CC and Business Catalyst.
    I want to make sure that the infomation people send to me in my contact forms is secure!
    Does anyone have any advise for me on the best way to do this?
    Thanks

    The information is sent into BC into the CRM which you can only access by logging in to the admin or API through secure authentication.
    You recieve a workflow notification summary of that to your email. You can stop the form havinga workflow if you do not want that to go to your email if you feel your email is not secure.
    All BC data and information is secure.

    Might want to have a look at this form below. It's similar to yours but no styling - you'd need to use some css to style it up a bit. It's just the raw html/php coding. The form action="form_send.php" - basically save the code to a Dreamweaver document named form_send.php and send the information back to the page to be processed.
    <?php
    $number_1 = rand(1, 9);
    $number_2 = rand(1, 9);
    $answer = md5($number_1+$number_2);
    if(isset($_POST['submit'])) {
    // get the name from the form 'name' field
    $name = trim($_POST['name']);
    if (empty($name)) {
    $error['name'] = "<span>Please provide your name</span>";
    // get the email from the form 'email' field
    $email = trim($_POST['email']);
    if (!filter_var($email, FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL)) {
    $error['email'] = "<span>Please provide a valid email address</span>";
    // get the comments from the form 'comments' field
    $comments = trim($_POST['comments']);

    My host kept on insisting that the problem was with the adobe code for the
    contact form, but it didn't sound right so after gaining access  to the
    admin panel for my site I discovered a default email account had been, I
    assume, set up by the system. I started to test submitting both the muse
    forms and some pdf forms that I generated using Acrobat XI Pro. The emails
    were not delivered to the address coded into the forms but were being
    trapped in this default email account. I tried to access the account by
    clicking on the webmail button that was shown, but the browser could not
    locate the webmail  server. After some more digging I found an
    https://mydomain:1111 address that allowed me to get in. All of my test
    forms were being trapped and returned to sender with the message that I did
    not exist. Obviously since the emails were generated by the php email
    function they went nowhere.
    At about 2am I sent my host an email with screen shots and have basically
    demanded that he find a way to kill the default email account. I have not
    heard back yet.
    It was a lengthy forum exchange on the Muse forum in 6/13 between someone
    in the UK and various forum members and finally adobe's staff that helped
    to get me on the right trail. My host is using linux with apache server
    software. If this is happeneing to me, it is probably happening to others
    and they are being frustrated by a host who either is incapable or
    unwilling to dig in to find a solution.
    If you want I will let you know how this all turns out.
    Thanks for your help, and I am going to post the contents of this email as
    part of the forum discussion.

  • Why are Contact Forms being pounded with SPAM?

    Is anyone else experience an unusually high volume of SPAM in thier contact forms?
    I have two clients getting pounded with SPAM.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    The spam stopped once we applied the filters for the Comments and the Akismet is sitting there in the system now so they just need to fully role out the control into forms which will do a lot.
    The Amazing thing with that which I need to check with the engineers that I thought is that BC is run by BC, so if they are using Akismet I want to check to see if they are pooling all the spam filters applied on all BC sites into one central database that ALL sites have access too. If they are doing this - SWEET, if not I am going to suggest they do.
    THat would mean if your being spammed what you block will mean sites I build will not get those same spam and so on.
    Making the captcha more secure agaisnt OCR will make them harder to use so there is negatives you got to weigh up.

  • MUSE CONTACT FORMS BEING HACKED!!!

    I'm getting pretty tired of the reasons why adobe can't provide captcha or some other form of security on forms created in muse and hosted outside bc. There are several cheap third party form building solutions out there that can provide the functionality to create secure forms, are you saying that they are better than you?
    Yes, I can build some pretty amazing sites with muse but I'm not interested in hosting with bc right now so what good are they and my monthly subscription to your service if my clients are only going to complain and threaten to fire me because their contact forms have been easily hacked by someone for god only knows what purpose. Every day now, I receive copies of hacked emails from client sites that I created in muse. Emails with strings of letters and numbers and two-way conversations some clowns seem to be having with each using these forms.
    I'm sick and tired of this crap. If you can't provide me with a viable fix... I will have to consider other options non-adobe.

    1. Limiting spam
    What's the URL for a page with a form that's receiving spam? Have you verified SQL is installed and available on the server (by loading http://<thesitename.com>/scripts/form_check.php)? If SQL is available, the form code generated by Muse will limit the number of form submissions that will be accepted from a single IP address during a short period of time, which will deter some spammers.
    2. Form solutions with CAPTCHA
    As you've noted, there are many different form solutions available in the market that can, in general, very easily be integrated within a webpage on a Muse site via Object > Insert HTML (i.e. JotForms, WuFoo, Adobe Forms Central, CoffeeCup, Business Catalyst forms). Forms are a very deep area with entire large businesses devoted to providing rich forms solutions. Depending on your specific needs, the solutions available from these services will vary in cost from free to hundreds of dollars per month or more.
    3. Cost of Business Catalyst
    Hosting a website on Adobe Business Catalyst with support for forms created in Muse and 10 e-mail accounts requires a webBasics+ hosting plan. A webBasics+ plan costs $10.99/month with a one-year contract. If you would like to take advantage of the customer database and targeted e-mail marketing functionality within Business Catalyst that would require a webMarketing hosting plan, which is $16.99/month with a one-year contract. (One webBasics hosting plan is included with a Muse standalone subscription and 5 webBasics hosting plans are included with a Creative Cloud subscription. A webBasics plan includes support for Muse generated forms, but does not include any e-mail accounts.)
    As for "What's the URL for a page with a form that's receiving spam? Have you verified SQL is installed and available on the server (by loading http://<thesitename.com>/scripts/form_check.php)? If SQL is available, the form code generated by Muse will limit the number of form submissions that will be accepted from a single IP address during a short period of time, which will deter some spammers."  What exaclty is a "limit"?  I cleaned 150 spam messages out yesterday and 79 out so far today.  I have to do something soon because it's getting so bad that I can't stand to open the email for that course.  And yes, I have green checkmarks on everything when I load the above-mentioned check for my website.  I have forms central but began creating a form and realized that I cannot find an option to add captcha in the darned thing.  I got keys for Goggle's Recaptcha, but can't for the life of me figure out how I'd add it to said Forms Central form . . . .

  • Contact form check boxes will not work on a Tablet

    Hi there,
    I created a website (Desktop) and a mobile version (Phone).  I did not create one for a tablet but have relied on the Desktop version if someone views it on a Tablet.
    Here's the thing, I created a contact form with checkboxes.  It works great on a desktop (because people check the boxes with their mouse), however, it doesn't work on a Tablet, when you try and check the boxes with your finger.
    Help!

    Please share the site URL.

  • Changed Outlook Contact Form back to IPM.Contact - now I can't save contact in Public Folder

    I recently changed the Contact form that we were using back to the default IPM.Contact. I did this so that it  would be consistent for only a few of us had a custom contact template to use and it made it difficult to share contact information. After
    changing the contact default back to IPM.Contact and changing all the contacts to reflect the default Message class, no can add a contact to the Public Folder contact file. I have tried several different setting for the permsion. Publishing Author, Publish
    Editor, Owner, it still gives the error
    The item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the degfualt folder for the item.
    When I changed the form back to IPM.Contact  i ran the omglass.exe to change it on all the contacts in the public folder.
    Please advise for no contacts can now be added to our company contact list

    Hi,
    Please right-click this public folder, click Properties. In the General tab, make sure the field of "When posting to this folder, use" is set to IPM.Contact.
    Please restart Outlook with Outlook /checkclient switch(Start > Run > type Outlook /checkclient and enter) to have a try. If it fails, please create a new Outlook profile to have a try:

I would also like to remove the <br> from the email message. Can you also tell me how to change the colour for heading so its clear.

    I made few changes to the coding by removing:
    $msg = "$rearExt<br>\r\n$sideExt<br>\r\n$twoStoreyRear<br>\r\n
              $twoStoreySide<br>\r\n$loft<br>\r\n$newBuild<br>\r\n$flat<br>\r\n$other\r\n";
    as the email message shows the results from the checkbox twice.
    I also removed the <br> from:
    $body = "Name: $name<br>\r\n
              Email: $email<br>\r\n
              Contact No: $contact_number<br>\r\n
             Other: $other\r\n
              Message:\r\n
                $message";
    I have add the result and the PHP coding you have helped to fixed for anyone needing a working PHP code containing Text Fields, Drop Down List, Checkbox and Text Area. Many thanks for all your help. If you have a coding to change the heading text colour I very much appericate it.

    Making the HTML form is easy but the form processing script which collects data & sends it to your email is not quite so simple.   Start with your web host.  Ask them if they have form-to-email processing scripts you can use.  If they don't, find out which scripts your hosting plan supports (php, asp, asp.net, perl, coldfusion, etc...)

  • Contact Form (php)  - how to prevent new window...

    My contact form works just fine, however, I currently have
    the target set to "_blank" which is not what I want.
    Rather than opening the .php file open in a new window, I
    just want to go to a new frame (labeled "success" or "error")
    within my flash file (which currently works fine)
    So, my question is how do I send the form information to my
    php file WITHOUT having to open a new window outside of my flash
    file since I'm sending the user to new frame instead.
    FYI: I've already tried removing "_blank" but it still opens
    the php file in a new browser window.
    My code below:
    on (release){
    var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    my_lv.fullName = fullName_txt.text;
    my_lv.email = email_txt.text;
    my_lv.emailMessage = emailMessage_txt.text;
    if(fullName_txt.text != "" && email_txt.text != ""
    && emailMessage_txt.text != "") {
    my_lv.send("contact.php","_blank","POST");
    gotoAndStop("success");
    else {
    gotoAndStop("error");
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Yvonne

    Thanks for your help, Zupko.
    I tried your suggestion but I'm still experiencing the same
    problem. A new window still opens. Perhaps I'm doing something
    wrong?
    My code with your suggestion below:
    on (release){
    var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    my_lv.fullName = fullName_txt.text;
    my_lv.email = email_txt.text;
    my_lv.emailMessage = emailMessage_txt.text;
    if(fullName_txt.text != "" && email_txt.text != ""
    && emailMessage_txt.text != "") {
    loadVariables("contact.php","POST");
    gotoAndStop("success");
    else {
    gotoAndStop("error");
    Your help is very much appreciated!

  • DW CS5, Sending contact form results to email with page redirection using php script

    I am currently building a site from scratch with Dreamweaver, with the intent of replacing my current website layout that was designed using Intuit's website builder. My dreamweaver site is not online, but i have setup a local test server on my computer, using XAMPP, and i have an apache server with a MySQL database and a mercury mailserver running. I mention that in case it makes a difference in your answers. If necessary, I can include those settings, but that may be asking too much.
    I have an html contact form for users to schedule service appointments. I need the resulting actioned php file to do the following after submit is clicked: verify certain fields have been entered; prevent spammers or verify human visitors; send the form results to a (hidden from public view of any kind) email address; redirect user to a confirmation page, or an error page.
    I found the following code but being less than a newbie im not sure what needs to be changed, or if its even the right script i should be using:
    5 <?php
    6 $email = $_POST['email'];
    7 $mailto = '[email protected]';
    8 $mailsubj = 'You Have a Service Request';
    9 $url = '/MyLandingPage.html';
    10 $req = '0';
    11 $mailbody = "Results from form:\r\n";
    12 $space = ' ';
    13 $line = '
    14 ';
    15 foreach ($_POST as $key => $value)
    16 {
    17 if ($req == '1')
    18 {
    19 if ($value == '')
    20 {echo "$key is empty";die;}
    21 }
    22 $j = strlen($key);
    23 if ($j >= 20)
    24 {echo "Name of form element $key cannot be longer than 20 characters";die;}
    25 $j = 20 - $j;
    26 for ($i = 1; $i <= $j; $i++)
    27 {$space .= ' ';}
    28 $value = str_replace('\r\n', "$line", $value);
    29 $conc = "{$key}:$space{$value}$line";
    30 $text .= $conc;
    31 $space = ' ';
    32 }
    33 mail($emailadd, $subject, $text, 'From: '.$emailadd.'');
    34 echo '<META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0; URL='.$url.'">';
    35 ?>
    Can anyone please illuminate me on what I need?
    Thank You in advance

    Take a read here, this might enlighten you a little.

    You are doing this with your local testing server, is it set up to email?
