Is Decklink mini monitor compatible with FCPX

Hi-
Just started editing on FCPX after waiting till current release.. I have a Flanders HD monitor with SDI input I use in my FCP7 system. The FCPX system has a  2009 Mac Pro (4,1) with Nvidia GTX680 card that has been flashed for Mac use. IT works fine with FCPX, just in case anyone asks. My question is HD monitoring. Can something as simple as the Blackmagic decklink mini monitor with one SDI output work to feed the Flanders? IT seems like it should but curious

Most all monitors including dual monitor setups work with the new Mac Mini's.
The Mac Mini has two display outputs, an HDMI port and a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort.
The HDMI port can be used for HDMI monitors and DVI monitors using the Apple Supplied HDMI to DVI adapter.
The Thunderbolt Port (aka Mini DisplayPort) can support Display Port, DVI, HDMI and VGA monitors using available Mini DisplayPort adapters and cables.
Go to > Apple - Mac mini - Technical Specifications and look at Video Support and Accessories sections.

  • Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt connection

Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt adapter?

The 1080p and 1080i options only appear on the HDMI display settings, the display settings for the thunderbolt to vga adaptor has 1920 x 1080.
Via the HDMI output of the Mini via an HDMI cable to a HDMI input on the Samsung the display fills the screen but the text looks vile.
The options for picture adjustement on the samsung include fill screen as you suggest
Using the thunderbolt to VGA adaptor the text looks as it should, crisp and clear but the display is shitfted to the right.
The options for picture adjustment on the Samsung does not have the 'fill screen' option available when the VGA input is selected. However a new option called 'pc screen adjustment' appears and you can nudge the display over to the left a bit but not enough to cover the whole screen.
I remind you the pc worked perfectly 1920 x 1080 on the same VGA cable and input to the samsung.

  • Premiere Pro 5.5 + Black Magic Decklink Mini Monitor Issues

I have been running Ppro 5.5 on a windows 7 x64 machinine without issues. However, I added a Black Magic Decklink mini monitor recently. I am having issues of time line stopping at certain native transition effects like cross disolve and premier freezing crashing to blue screen when using black magic Ppro presets.
When I changed the render mode to 'Software only' things improved. However, still face freezing intermittently but frequency is much less.
I also use ASIO4all audio driver to monitor, though when I use BM presets sound is played through HDMI.
    My configuration is as below:
    Processor: Intel quad core i7 2600 K @ 3.40 GZ
    Memory: 8 GB
    Display Card: Nvidia Quardo 2000d
    OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
Edit Software: Adobe Production Premium CS 5.5 (PPro patch loaded)
SSD 128 GB system hard drive
    2 TB Media Drive Internal
Audio Interface: Mackie Tapco Firelink (not used when using Black Magic Ppro Presets)
Audio Driver: ASIO4ALL (not used when using Black Magic Ppro Presets)
Could any of you give some idea what could be wrong here?
    John

I have not used a Mini Monitor on CS5.5  (I have used others) but BM cards did work differently with CS5.5 to CS6, when Mercury Transmit was introduced.  They did not do realtime effects as well (as you are finding) and only output from Blackmagic sequences.  So most of the problems you are having, apart from the crashing, are normal.  The BM card is also seen as a sound card so it could be set to do the sound for the system, or for Premiere, even though the picture is not being transmitted (check the audio hardware preferences in Premiere to see which is being used for sound).
The crashes could be related to graphic card drivers.  CS5.5 won't be programmed to use the latest nVidia drivers, and we have had problems using the latest (300 series drivers) with CS5.5. which only show up with hardware (Blackmagic/Matrox etc) but work in software mode. The fact that you get crashes with effects may also point to this.  Try downgrading the quadro drivers and see what happens - to a version like 275 or 296 rather than a 300 series driver.

  • BlackMagic Decklink Mini Monitor - how to output Source signal?

    Dear PrP users,
I currently purchased a Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitor video I/O to use with PP CC and SG CC as well as Da Vinci Resolve 9/10 once I move onto it; nothing too fancy which I'm fine with the kind of grading work I do. I did this so I could have a maximum of 4 computer monitors whilst I grade on my GPU then the additional output for the Director/Client.
However I did not know upon purchase that it only outputs the Canvas/Timeline (Program) from Premiere Pro. Before I would have my big TV output not only the Canvas (Program) but also the Viewer (Source) so I could show the Director/Client a clip from the browser without having to drop it into the timeline. This was a super useful feature and I am hoping to use this to Decklink Mini Monitor through premiere pro (as that is what I do primarily) that will both do Source and Program signals from PP CC. Is there a way to do that? Can it be done?
I will of course go on BlackMagic forums also to find out, but thought I'd try here also just incase.
    Thank you.

You're right, I can output the Source monitor too however it will only output 1080p (I found this out my playing ProRes 1080p through the Source). The material I'm working with is r3d 4k, of which I am working in a 1080p timeline (down scaled and down sampled) which outputs the Program to the Blackmagic DeckLink just fine, when I try to put the same material in a 4k timeline it refuses to play it. Thus, the Browser and conversely the Source monitor has no choice but to output the r3d 4k in its native resolution (unless there is a way to non-destructively output the r3d 4k Source as 1080p also)?
Any solutions? Is it the video card itself (its BlackMagic cheapest model) which limited to 1080p or the TV itself I'm using?
    Thank you for your advice.

Yes, using the DVI to VGA adapter included with your G5 and a VGA to Macintosh Video adapter that you'll have to purchase elsewhere. Griffin has one (the Mac Connect) and you and probably find one elsewhere as well. For full information on monitor compatibility, see:

  • Is nvidia geforce gtx 675mx card compatible with fcpx

Is the Nvidia geforce gtx 675mx comes with the new iMac 27" compatible with fcpx?
I could not find it on Apple's list of cards required or fcpx

    It should be.
I have only heard about issues with the 640mx card..
But FCPX uses OpebCL and other system API's to use the GPU, so if someting is not working, it should be the OS having issues..

  • Canopus ADVC 300 compatible with FCPX ?

    The title says it all.
Compatibility with FCPX would make my transition forward much easier as I still need to convert VHS from time to time.
    Thanks.

    Yes!!!
Soon after downloading FCPX, I hooked up the ADVC300 which appeared as a choice when clicking on Import From Camera.
Made a brief "Import " of a VHS tape.
I didn't bother installing the Picture Controller 300 software as I just replaced my MBP internal hdd and did a clean install of apps that don't require Rosetta.  In other words, I'm ready for Lion.  Apps that require Rosetta are on a small SL partition for a while longer.
i5 MBP, OSX 10.6.8 on a Lion-ready partition, 750 GB Seagate Momentus HDD, 8 GB RAM.

  • Is benq GL2440 monitor compatible with Mac Mini (early 2011)

    Hey all
Bought a Benq GL2440 monitor to go with my mini (not latest, previous)
but when connected via HDMI nothing but a msg saying 'no cable connected'
Any one got a solution ?

That's correct, the link perfectly describes the Apple 20" Cinema Display I have. With the new Mac Minis requiring an HDMI cable to link to a display, the HDMI to DVI (female) adapter looks like the one I need. I found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Gino-Black-Female-Converter-Adapter/dp/B006Z8N60C/ref=sr_1 _18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371158207&sr=1-18&keywords=hdmi+to+dvi+adapter+ca ble
This adapter is an all-in-one plug with no cable linking the HDMI to the DVI ends. It looks like it might be too wide to plug in anything immediately adjacent to the HDMI socket on the Mac Mini due to the width of the adapter when the adapter is plugged in. However, I could get around this by purchasing an extension cable with HDMI male on one end and the HDMI female on the other if I had to.
However, one of the comments said that the DVI is video-only and that another cable is required for audio. Can I assume that plugging in either or both of the other connections (a USB and a FireWire) coming out of the 20" display will take care of audio?
That leads to another answer, but I'm confident that I'm almost there thanks to your help. Close enough to mark this as "solved". Thank you! Let me know if you have any further thoughts with regard to the audio though.

  • Helping can't see Output to Decklink Mini Monitor

    Hi all,
Did the upgrade last night to the Newest version on Premiere Pro CC and I lost all links to my Decklink Monitor. I have unistalled and reinstalled the drivers serval times now. Prior to the update all was good. Also experiencing the same with After Effects and don't see the ability to output to the Monitor in Photoshop (all programs upgraded to 2014)
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Any ideas on fixes?
    Thanks
    Tommy

In order for the Blackmagic to install into Premiere Pro CC 2014 you need to have Premiere Pro CC v7.x.x installed.
Blackmagic will be releasing a driver that will correct this in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • '09 mini not compatible with mini-DVi to video adapter?

I hooked up my new '09 mini to my AV receiver via Apple's mini-DVI to video adapter but got no picture. My previous mini ('06 model) worked fine w/ the DVI to video adapter. I'm thinking the mini-DVI port on the new mini doesn't pass analog signals anymore, i.e., it's now DVI-D vs previously being DVI-I.
Anyone else have this experience w/ the '09 models? I know it works with the older models. I'm just trying to figure out if I have a defective adapter or if the '09 mini's DVI just doesn't pass analog. I noticed the supplied mini-DVI to DVI cable is DVI-D, so maybe that is a hint.

I doubt that'd work. Usually these adapters work by connecting "legacy" wires on the newer connectors to an older interface. The mac actually produces all the appropriate signals, and the adapter just hooks the wires together appropriately.
It sounds like the only analog signals the mac is producing are Red-Green-Blue signals, like you'd use for VGA or component video. It's not producing a composite video signal. So if you convert mini-DVI to VGA, the composite line is going to be dead on both.
The only kind of adapter that could help you would be one with some amount of circuitry that actually pastes the Red-Green-Blue signal into a composite signal. Something like:

Might really be better to purchase a new or used monitor with DVI or other common input.

If you mean FCP friendly then I can suggest JVC GY-HM100 or JVC GY-HM150. It shoots native, no need to transcode. Just drag and drop.
