Is it even possible to bind the RMI servant to a static port?

Hi all,
We would like to bind a RMI service to a static port, so that it is easier to configured the firewall setting to make it accessible by RMI client outside of the fire wall. Is it possible at all?

That's what the port argument to UnicastRemoteObject.UnicastRemoteObject() and exportObject() is for.

Is it possible to administer the license server from a remote computer?

NI VLM and the license server service are running on a license server machine. Company policy prevents me from having admin access to the machine (which seems necessary in order to run NI VLM). Is it possible to administer the license server service from a remote machine? i.e., can I install NI VLM on a machine that is not the license server, but connect to and manage the license server service over the network? I can access the license server via RDP, but without admin access, I can't get very far.
Is there any other way to manage the VLM without admin access to the machine it is running on?

I haven't heard of a case where someone was able to administer licenses via VLM without having administrator access. Is there any possibility of getting administrator access on the license server machine, even if it's through some sort of temporary account?

Is it possible to create the template Server 2012 R2 in Azure?

For RemoteApp, I know that I need to create a template of Server 2012 R2.
I don't want to create it locally.
Is it possible to create the template Server 2012 R2 in Azure?
And then upload from Azure to Azure?

LabVIEW FPGA was unable to contact the Compile Server at "localhost" on port 96.

Hi,
The following error occured when i am trying to compile my design on labview fpga 8.6, and the error reads as follows.
"LabVIEW FPGA was unable to contact the Compile Server at "localhost" on port 96. The server name or port may be incorrect, a firewall may be blocking communications with the server, or the configured timeout may be too low. You may reconfigure Compile Settings by clicking the Configure button or try contacting the Compile Server again by clicking the Retry button. Click the Cancel button to abort."
Can ane one help me in sorting out this error.,

In BAM 12c, you can send data via JMS by configuring an EMS in BAM using the "self-described" payload. Make sure the date formats match correctly. You can configure an error queue which will show you any data parsing problems.

Server.java - a remote object implementation that implements the remote interface
Client.java - a simple client that invokes a method of the remote interface
I have started the rmiregistry by running "start rmiregistry" in the java bin directory. There is no output in this window, i hope this is correct.
But when I try to run the server I get the following message:

The RMI 'codebase' is a list of URLs where classes can be found. You define it in your server JVM via the java.rmi.server.codebase property. Normally the URLs are http: URLs, which means you need an HTTP server which will serve classes or JAR files from the specified URLs.
Alternatively you can:
(a) start the client with a classpath that contains the classes mentioned in the remote interface, including itself, and
(b) (i) start the Registry ditto, or
(b) (ii) start the Registry inside the server JVM via LocateRegistry.createRegistry.

Problem with lost of the access to the RMI server

Hi to all.
We have two applications. First one (master) provides to second (slave) through RMI service their data or other resources.
In the ordinary way all works fine. But if we need for some reason restart master application, slave can't access to the RMI service and calling of the method Naming.lookup(...) throws java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling return; nested exception is: java.io.EOFException
Interestingly, calling of method Namig.list(...) at this moment correctly returns an array of the names bound in the registry.
For completeness, in the time of restarting master application, classes of the RMI services are not changed and thus Stub/Skeleton classes are same on both sides.
What is reason for this behaviour? It is way to restart/restore RMI access of the slave application to the master without restarting server (Tomcat) of both applications?

For registering and binding I used usual practices. Following snippets of code are inside method that perform initialization on application startup. I was trying three versions.
First version creates registry and binds service classes only. Without any checks.

The third version first unbinds all services and then performs binding again.

How to stop the RMI server?

Hi,
I create a RMI Server, it has no problem to start. And I created a gui for the server, so that when user press the "start" button, it will start the server.
But somehow I want to update the server and restart again, but while the server is running, i press the "start" button again, i got the following error messages:
"Server error: internal error: ObjID already in use"
Is that mean i have to stop the server first? But how should I stop the server? Thx

I've tried to unexport the remote object and unbind the registry, but I still got this error message when I try to restart the server on the fly:

Host name clashes while ping the rmi server

i am having rmi server in the machine which is connected to internet.
the machine name is "bugs".while calling remote method thru rmi client
it tries to ping some other machine in the internet which has same name of rmi server.
my rmi url "rmi://hostname:port/<service_name>
how can i give unique machine name or ip address while rmi server is connected to internet.
for this scenario which is best ip address or machine name

Talk to the people who run your network. Sounds like you have a DNS problem. (Not a Java problem.)

Remotely Bind the Web Server to Netscape Console

Problem when we created the managed server to configure different ports.

I am trying to configure different ports for admin console and my communication service as we can’t share admin port to the outside world.
So that only admin can access admin console using admin port.
And out side clients can access my webapplication using different port.
For this i have created the managed server in weblogic.and I deployed the application on managed server.
Now admin server is running on 8001 port and my Communication Service application is running on 7001 port.
But when I tried to configure MBeans related to myCommunicationServiceApplication those were disapper on admin console. And the other wlng services are appearing on admin console.
1. Since my application deployed on managed server MBeans registration happened from myapplication hence it’s disappear on admin console.
Now If I want to configure Mbeans (related to my communication service) how can I configure it?
2. My communication service using configurationStore module and other wlng services.
When I tried to start my application on managed server I got the below error:

In my case, cardinality of AET table was 1:1, and I was getting duplicate PARENT_ID every time when trying to create a subsequent service request for my activity.

In other words, at runtime, can we change the binding of an Inputfield to another context. Or a table to programmatically bind to another table?

      it is possible..
       you should first pass the id of he ui element and then bind it.
       for ex:
         if there is an input field, you can get the attribute that is bound, using cl_wd_input_field->bound_value.
         if you want to set an attribute, use cl_wd_input_field->bind_value.
         the first one will give an idea of how a valueshould be given.

Is it possible to bind the first element in a collection in a datagrid?

I have a datagrid and I need to bind a property in the first element of the collection of my datasource object. By the momento I am using a converter:

But I would like to avoid the need to use a converter, so I have tried this:

Is there any way to do it?

You cannot call ElementAt(i) from the XAML because it is a method.
MyCollectionProperty[0] will certainly get you the first value of the MyCollectionProperty collection provided that the type has an indexer.
If you want to be able to this without using a converter you must change the type of the property from ICollection<T> to for example IList<T>.
You could create a wrapper property (potentially in a partial class definition) and bind to this one:
//old property:

//new wrapper:
public IList<YourType> MyCollectionPropertyWrapper {

return new List<YourType>(this.MyCollectionProperty);

ICollections are not very XAML friendly and you cannot bind to the first item of an ICollection using an indexer or ElementAt(0) or any other direct way.

Is it even possible to increase the font size in the Illustrator CC UI? Panels are unreadable!

With the demise of my beloved Fireworks, I am giving Illustrator CC a try. Right off the bat it is unusable due to the microscopic font sizes in the UI, panels in particular. Is there any way to make the UI more readable?

In OSX search for the "FontTheme_Panel.xml" file within the "Adobe Illustrator CC.app" package. (right click + "show package contents"). In it you'll see the code below.... I didn't mess with the "!ENTITY" kText values, just the "FontSize name=" values. You'll probably want to bump the "Text_Main_Large" size up to 13. Past that it doesn't read well but then again I guess you could set custom row heights for panels like layers.
And as always, back up the original and back up your altered file.

Is it possible to call the SQL Server DB from jsp to java?

im doing a configurable system where you can create your own table using the system. i can do the creation of table by running the statement CREATE TABLE...........(with attributes) in java.
Let's say i have created tblST1 with attributes st_ID, st_Name, st_Description.
My problem is i dont know if it's possible to retrieve all the attributes from jsp to java.
