Is it free to send a iMessage from my iPhone in the UK to an iPhone user in New Zealand?

I'd like to know if iMessage works internationally or whether itll cost me to iMessage someone in another country?

iMessage is free if your both on Wi-Fi
If your not your carrier may charge you

Your message on your screen shows up blue if sent as iMessage or green if sent as regular text.  If not connected to wi-fi or cellular data, iMessage isn't available to/from.  Both of you need a data connection for iMessage to work.
But your message on the recipient's screen will show up white.

  • How to send an iMessage from an iPhone to an iPod touch?

    Hi Guys,
I installed the new iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 and i was wondering if somebody could tell me how to send a iMessage from my iPhone to my iPod Touch.

to b very honest i think iMessage has been launched in competition to Blackberry BBM service.
But iMessage being an Apple product is far more advanced.
Also SMS and Email are two different things. cannot be discussed in detail here.
I know people who dont use email on their iphone just to save on data usage. so sending them an iMessage makes sense.
and now they save money on their message plan also.....!!

Wi-Fi is not required for iMessage. Internet access is required for iMessage which includes when the iPhone is connected to the cellular network.
If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will fail to send and you will be prompted to send as an SMS if text only.

I am sorry, my english isn't very good.
Next try :) I send a iMessage from my ipad (wifi only) to a friend and he answers but i don't receive the answer on the ipad but on the iphone instead. Both devices using the same Apple ID (Settings>Messages>Receive At, same Adress on both devices). I tought iMessages are always received on bothe devices, like the advertisment says i should be able to start a iMessage conversation on ipad and finish it on iphone because both devices receive my iMessages... Thats not like it is on my devices, most times iMessages are only received from the iphone.

  • HT3529 Why when i send an imessage to another iphone user it sometimes sends as atxt message and the other person doesnt end up getting the message?

Sometimes when i send an imessage to another iphone user it comes out as a txt message. I was just wandering why this happens and sometimes when it does the message is never sent to the person.

You can have a separate AppleID only for iMessage and keep using the other one for iTunes.
Just change the AppleID used for iMessage in Settings > Messages > Receive At

  • My iPhone 4 sending a iMessage to another iPhone user, the message will send then says not delieverd? So I have to send it as a normal text message .

Hey! So I'm having a problem with sending an IMessage to another iPhone user and they are having the same problem. The problem is; is that I send a message to them it will attempt to send then will say under the message that it was not delivered? So I send it as a normal text message. Weird part is that we both have full service and have the phone bills paid. Lol

There is an earlier thread that was answered by an Apple employee that states they are seeing the iMessage and Facetime servers are down. It is unknown when they will return, however it generally is not an extended period of time.

  • HT3529 Hi. My imessage has been linked to my ipad as well as my iphone with hotmail address. When i send an imessage from my iphone it appears as my email, i dont want this to happen. When an iphone user texts my number i dont receive it

    Hi everyone.
My iphone ipad and imessage are all interlinked with my hotmail (apple id.) However this now means when i send an imeesage from my iphone it appears tomy friends as my email, i don't want this to happen! Also when iphone users text my mobile number it doesn't come through to my iphone so i end up missing out on text messages a lot - how can i sync my iphone to receive all texts and imessages but to my mobile number only?

Simply disable all incoming methods of iMessages other then your phone number.
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive at > You may be reached at > Unselect your email addresses.
Now when your friends send you an iMessage they can only send it to your phone number.

  • How can I send/receive iMessages from my iPhone 5 on my MacBook Air?

When I first got my MacBook Air (January 2015), iMessages updated automatically upon sign in to display all of my text conversations from my iPhone 5. I also used to see incoming and missed phone calls by default. As of the beginning of March 2015 when I sign in, my MacBook Air does not sync messages from my iPhone at all and I have stopped receiving phone related notifications. Also my MacBook Air is sending all messages from my email address as opposed to my phone number.
I've looked at the Messages help guides for send and receive SMS and activated text forwarding for my MacBook using my iPhone but this still hasn't helped with me being able to see my phone call/text activity on my MacBook as I was able to prior to early March. The iOS is up to date on my MacBook and my iPhone. I've also checked my iCloud and Apple ID and both display my phone number as an eligible send/receive address.
Was there an update that changed a setting? I didn't have this trouble syncing messaging and phone when I set up my MacBook Air for the first time so I'm not sure what else to try. Someone help!

    Greetings jennamarie416,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to use the Apple Continuity features such as phone calls and text messages on your Mac. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article for more information on these features and to ensure that they are set up correctly.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support

  • Messages sending as iMessage to ex iphone user

I was wondering if anyone can help. When I got my Iphone 4 I gave my 3gs to my mum. She used my account for the app store and when iOS5 came out she got her own account to use with iMessage, find my friends ect. My mum has now moved to an Android phone and is using her iphone as an ipod and to play games with wifi.
I've removed the iphone 3gs from the relevant accounts as I've seen there are problems with iMessage. I've turned off iMessage from my mums phone and removed her apple id from her phone, but when I message her from my phone it still insists on trying to send as an iMessage and instead of sending as a text message after so long, she just never receives it so I have to change it to a text message by holding the message and pressing "send as text". After doing this, things are fine for a while, but then after a few hours it will start trying to send iMessages to her again.
This is driving us both insane, and I've exhausted all my options. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to stop this? and why have apple made it so difficult to do? People do have freedom of choice to move to other phones after all.
I had a crappy experience at an apple store last week and am starting to get disillusioned with the who apple machine that I used to be such a fan of
    Any help appreciated.
    Sort it out apple!
    Rachel

have you tried removing her from your contact and then readding her number?

  • TS2755 I have an iPhone 5 and am experiencing problems with receiving photos in iMessage from other iPhone users.  I have been to the Apple store and the genius could not find anything wrong with my set up.  suggestions anyone?

My iphone 5 is receiving photos from other iphones as text, not imessage...the genius at the apple store did not find any problems.  suggestions anyone?

    - On her iPod go to Settings>iCloud  and turn off contacts and other things if you want.
    - On the iPod go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and add here own email address and delete the Apple ID email address. Also uncheck yur phone number if it appears. The only way to delete the phone number is to use an Apple ID not associated with the phone. You do that in Settings>Messages>Apple ID
You can go to Settings>FaceTime>Yu can be reached at and add here email and delete the Apple ID.

  • My iphone only recieves IMessages from other IPhone users, even if i'm not using imessage at the time.

So for whatever reason, whenever i text other iphone users, and one of us uses IMessage, my phone will only recieve their texts when i'm connected to wifi, even if we both stop using it. For example, i'll text a friend while temporarily using wifi or 4G, and then for the rest of the day, or maybe even longer (it may be permanent, i'm not entirely sure), i'll be completely unable to recieve any texts from them unless i connect to wifi. Sometimes, connecting to 4G again doesn't even allow me to recieve the texts. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or a settings problem, so i'm posting this here. I know it's not a service problem, because i can have normal conversations with my friends using Android, no interruptions or weird breaks in service. I can't afford to turn IMessage off, as i find it extemely useful, money saving, and I often find myself in wifi areas, but during those times i'm not it's extremely annoying because i'm forced to wait a long time just to recieve a short text.

  • Send/recieve mms from non iphone users

I have an iphone 4s and I just got it recently. I am unable to send and recieve picture messages to non iphone users. How can I fix that? I have tried resetting the phone, turning on and off mms and imessage, and plugging it into the computer. What else can be done? I'm on verizon wireless and ave the most recent version of IOS

Does your plan support MMS? If you have turned MMS on on the phone (Settings app > Messages > MMS Messaging), but it still doesn't receive them, you should probably look to Verizon for assistance.
