Is it good for the battery health to recharge it when it is at 79%, 50% etc. ?

I use the battery like this (the people from the apple store where i bought my notebook said it was ok like this):
-durring the week i use my battery every day till it deplets arround 5 % then i recharge it (when prompted with the recgarge message). Then when i get home i plugg my machine and weight till its fully charged, then i use it plugged with the charger.
-In the weekend i keep my machine plugged in with the charger

    It does no harm. It won't over charge.

  • Alternative methods for checking battery health

    Model: 8922-A26, 3000 C200
    So in the process of trying my hardest to keep a recalcetrant C200 from it's sixth visit to the service centre in less than 11 months of ownership, I am trying to see if there's anything I can do to improve its battery life beyond the pitiful 30min i'm currently getting.
    Being a longtime thinkpad customer, I tried all the usual methods including the three-cycle power down and drain trick to recondition the battery, with no solution and ran through all the possible solutions in MIGR-63114 to no success at all.
    Except one - verify the health of the unit's battery, an online tool which uses ActiveX applets to work some black magic and tell you if it's pooped or not. However, it seems this tool is broken.
    It's not working in either IE6 or 7, and despite prompting you to install all the AX components nothing ever happens no matter how long you leave it. And if sitting around isn't good enough for you, you can stare at the broken image which is supposed to be a progress bar.
    Does anyone have any alternative ways of checking the battery health on a C200 or firing off some reconditioning tools to save me being another week without this unit? I don't mind dealing with the phone support group, but i'll be darned if I let the service techs near the unit again because I just know my luck will see them fix or replace the wrong part - for the third time in a row.

    "Call the spirits, ask them to bring pizza"

    I don't believe there is a way but more than likely an Apple Store can check it if there is one nearby.
    I've seen a post or two here reporting the same and the solution provided (which claimed to help) was using the iPhone until the battery is depleted causing the iPhone to turn off. Plug it in and allow it to charge completely.
    And if you haven't already done so, it can't hurt to Reset and/or Restore your iPhone.

  • Can Apple replace my macbook pro (mid 2012) retina's battery if I think that the battery health has gone bad/in need of and renewal?

    Can Apple replace my macbook pro (mid 2012) retina's battery if I think that the battery health has gone bad/in need of and renewal???
    I've had my Macbook for about 11 months now and i use it every day; its gone though about 420 cycles of charging and using the power, and i noticed the battrey preformance has decreased (as expected). The problem isn't sevear yet but it would comfort me knowing that i could replace the battery in the near future
    Please contact me or answer the question if you know anything about this!

    No only if they think under warranty/AppleCare, but your likely able to pay for a new battery if they have them, which they might not yet since it's such a new machine still.
    BTW, I have a Early 2011 17" MBP, 27 months old, charges to 97% and has only 14 cycles.

  • Is "restore factory setting" good for set's health...

    anyone plz help me...i want to know abt "restore factory settings"
    Q#1 : is "restoring factory setting" good for phone's health? And how often we should do that?
    Q#2 : is there any possibilities of phone becoming slower after doing "restore factory setting"?
    anybody knows abt these plz help......

    1. Do not think so...as it doesn't erase any data but just revert the SETTINGS back to Out-of-Box state..Needs to be done ONLY when need arises..
    2. No. Only when it switches ON after the Factory reset for the first time.. it will take a little longer time..

  • How much time will i take for the battery to drain, with white screen of death?

    Yesterday I updated the software of my iPod touch (4gen), and today while using facebook I got the white screen of death. I tried to holding the sleep and home buttons but I didn't help. Then I tried to connect to iTunes but iTunes does not recognize my iPod. It seems that the only solution is to let the battery drain. My question is how much time will it take for the battery to drain (I charged it yesterday). Am I damaging my iPod in anyway?( I am worried because the back is a little hot). Should Ii try co cool it by placing  it in front of a fan?

    Yes it will show the low battery picture. Then I just connected it to my PC and restored it.
    For the cold pack I used one of these gel-packs http://www.coldchaintech.com/products/gel-packs.php ( I had them at home).
    I don't think using ice is a good idea here is why:
    1. If you use an ice pack you should be careful to prevent water from entering your iPod.
    2. Your iPod should not get colder than 32° F which is the minimum Operating temperature. And ice is colder than 32° F.

  • Edge and Next are good for the corporations but are they good for the consumer?

    Ok so I have never paid full price upfront for a phone!  Ever since my first phone from VoiceStream I have opted for what ever phone was "free" because way back then (I blush as I type) I actually thought the phone was "free!!!" Ah, to be naive again!! But as we all know the phones never were nor will they ever be free.
    However I say programs like Verizon's Edge and AT&T's Next are good for the corporation if they weren't they would not exist.  The first reason I say this is because Edge and Next allow the cellular service provider to easily recoup the entire cost of the phone in a clear way unlike with subsidized phones that muddy the profit water.  For example, the Verizon 64GB iPhone 5s retails for $849.99, currently with a two year contract you pay $399.99 for that 64GB iPhone 5s.  The EFT for that phone is $350 (minus $10 per month of post paid service).  If you on the 15th the day after you got your phone you paid the EFT but kept service you only paid $749.99 for that $849.99.  Sure you still pay for service but you can leave when ever and Verizon cannot say hey you owe us $100 more for you phone.  Its yours and they can't take it back and the only way Verizon will get that $100 back is though another customer  that subsidized a much lower cost phone that at the completion of that contract Verizon will  more than recoup the cost of that lower priced unit. To top that off you could turn around and sell the phone for $800 go back to Verizon or another provider buy a $450 phone and break even.  I'm not suggesting that people do that or that it may prove to be a big hassle for some that went through all the trouble.  Its just a point to show that subsidized phones make the profits less clear for the service provider to see at first glance.
    Second reason these programs are good for the corporation is they allow the service providers to get a better grasp on the true cost of maintaining their networks and providing us the consumer access to their networks.  Third reason it good for the corporation is the people that feel the need to upgrade every six months to a year are required to pay at least 50% of the retail cost of the phone at the same time they must surrender that device in exchange for the new device.  So the service provider then has the phone refurbished certified to be in "like new condition" and sell it again potentially making more than retail cost when the profits of both sales of the same handset are factored together.
    That being said what will the impact of programs like Edge and Next have on cost of future cellular service plans and smartphones?  Over time will the service provider give us the best per line access fee (not likely but maybe)? Or will people upgrading their smartphones at faster intervals cause the cost of the smartphones to drop over time? What are your thoughts?

    Hello,
    I am not a PC security expert but that software looks pretty suspicious to me. If you google the name of the software there are a large number of posts from people asking how to remove it and suggesting that it has been installed without their consent.
    I suspect that it is adware which hijacks the users browser home page / default search, displays adverts and generates revenue for the owner. It is possible that it also causes other security issues.
    I don't know enough about that software to feel confident in telling you that you '''should''' remove it (especially if you are getting value from the service it offers) but I will say that I wouldn't feel comfortable having it running on my own machine.
    If you like the software then by all means keep it but I do suggest running a range of antiviurs / malware removal tools. These will run alongside your existing anti-virus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
    * [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    If any of these flag easylifeapp as a problem then I suggest removing it.
    I hope that helps.

    iOS 6 can be loaded without problem on the 3GS.  Not all features are supported however.
    With respect to your reading people are having trouble, what did you expect to see on this technical support forum?  People don't write in to state they have a trouble-free upgrade.

  • What's best for the battery?

    Have a new HP311.  I want to know what is the best treatment for the battery.  Should I just leave it in the  machine while I am using it off the mains power or should I remove it while running on mains or should I charge it up and use the machine off battery and then recharge.  I'm new to this.

    It is a matter of opinion as far as removing it or leaving it in. If you leave the battery in and plug it in and unplug it frequently the capacitors could read incorrectly and think that the battery is charged to 100% when it is not. This is only a temp issue. Calibrating the battery will resolve this. If you leave the battery out of the machine it could get lost, or give your notebook more spaces to get dust in it. Personally I always advise to leave batterys in for this reason. Charles informed you to leave it out which is not incorrect either. The notebook will run a bit faster on ac power and your graphics performance will be increased(with battery in or without) and you should not run into the memory issue. It is a matter of choice. You can run a battery check in the Total Care advisor and if it needs calibration because you leave it in often and it should link you to the steps if needed.

  • Is the wall charger better for the battery then using the computer?

    I was looking for things for my Shuffle to add to my Christmas list when I came across this in the Apple Store. Someones review said that this item is better for the battery as when you plug it into a computer it drains the battery, then recharges it. As to this iten which charges the empty space only and does not drain the battery before recharging. Is this true? I will give points to those who can answer.

    Apparently it makes no difference to the life of the battery how or how often you charge it.
    I charge mine in a USB port on the external speakers I bought (iSound) and a full charge takes about 3 hours. - this is about the same as just plugging it into your USB port on your PC.
    (I tend to just top up the charge after a couple of uses)
    I just find it more convenient to be able to charge it without having to power up the PC everytime.

  • Which is better for the battery life?

    Should I keep the charger plugged in constantly or use up all the battery life and charge only when the battery life is near 0% and charge until full?
    I want to keep the battery life as long as possible. Thank you!
