Is it possible in CrystalReports 8.5 to set conditional formula at runtime?

I program in C++.
Is it possible in CrystalReports 8.5 to set suppress formula (or any other conditional formula under "x+2" button) at runtime?
I know I can do a workaround, for example create a parameter field, type in (at design-time) a suppress formula with this parameter field and then set the value of the parameter field at runtime.
But... In our application crystal reports are modified at runtime. And in a section, which has its suppress formula, suppress property is changed at runtime, so the suppress formula disappears. But later (e.g. a user changed its mind) it would be very nice, if the suppress formula appeared again. How to do that?
(I tried to search and google, but answers I found was not those I wanted them to be.)

Hi Jacek,
That is a very good question. There are no sample app's any more for 8.5 which is 10 + years old now and I don't recall if that function was considered Report Creation which was only available for OEM Partner. Or the RDC had a few RCAPI's also. Typically you would add the formula in the Designer and then get that formula and alter the info.
But it's been so long now and you never say which engine you are using, not that it matters, I don't recall now if you can or not or how ....
Search the Header file if using CRPE32, or load up VB and the RDC , craxdrt.dll, and use the Object Browser to see if access is there... If you are using the OCX then it's the same as crpe32.h.

API/RAS - is it possible to remove suppress condition formula from report Section?

I need to modify a report on the fly so that sometimes the 'Suppress (no drill down)' condition formula is completely removed from a report Section. Optionally I would like to just modify the formula to return FALSE so that the section appears.
It seems like the code below works when the section format 'EnableSuppress' option is TRUE, but does not seem to do anything when there is a suppress formula for the section.
Is this possible to do?

Is it possible to export and import a set of variables?

Hi,
I'm using RH8 under WinXP. I use variables for our product names (=single software modules). This makes it easier to change the name, if a product name has changed. For each of these products there is a single RH-project. Now I want to import a set of variables, that I've created in one of those projects, to another project. Up to now, I haven't found an export/import option in RH for these set of variables. Is there a possibility to import/export these variables?

Set up a test project close it, copy the rhvariable.apj file from a project with the variables into it. Reopen the test project.

I have a question that I hope you can help me with:
Is it possible to have rules that become active only in certain circumstances, for example, if the RDD of the sales order is today or tomorrow?
I have limited knowledge on the topic; so your help will be greatly appreciated.
This is my scenario:
A sales order is raised in plant A for Material X, if there isn't enought inventory of Mat. X, there will be a rule to look for inventory in plant B. If stock is found in plant B; then an ATP Tree structure is created, which is then turned into a purch req; and then into an STO from Plant B to Plant A. Then the shipment is sent to the customer from Plant A. This is good, however, this is not what we want for sales orders that are placed with too much time in advance; because by the time the sales order needs to be delivered, the inventory may be available in Plant A, and those requirements are meaningless at that point. Any ideas of how to handle this? Thanks in advance!

Here are my answers:
If the requirement is placed upon B, how is it possible to later have excess inventory in A?
If the sales order was placed let's say 7 weeks in advance; during that time the whse could have received inventory from the plant.
This is mainly why I need to find a way for the rule to do the substitution and create the requirement in B, only if RDD is very close to today's date.
Is there a reason why wouldn't ship directly from B to the customer? (instead of first moving the stock to A)
Yes there is, the requirement of the business is that any sales order raised in A, must be shipped from A; but stock must be found in alternate locations to satisfy the order. If stock is not found, then the order is cut and shipped.
Is A a plant, depot, or both?
Is B a plant, depot, or both?
How is 'B' normally supplied?
Are you using MLATP? CTP?
Both are depots; and are supplied from different manufacturing plants across the country.
We are using MLATP.

BPC: Conditional Formulas in Transformation Files, Possible?

I have an issue where I have a standard conversion file for the Account dimension, however for certain accounts the account is also dependent on the Entity ID. Rather than writing several conversion files to maintain for each entity I am wondering if the following is possible:
Is it possible to write some sort of conditional formatting in the transformation file such as:
If (stringAccount)= "XXX" then (stringAccount) + (stringEntity) and go pick up conversion file A, else (stringAccount) and pick up conversion file B
Conversion File A would have Entity/Account combo as the External account, and the Internal account would be the account for that specific Entity. (I actually have this stored as a property on each entity but currently its assumed that some sort of dynamic EVPRO/property defintion will not function in a conversion file.)
Conversion File B would be my standard conversion file.
I am thinking that I this might be possible but need assitance in the syntax for the transformation file.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think I have figured out how I am going to do this, my co-worker suggested the solution is more simple than I was making it out to be:
my transformation file will be:
Account= Accountstring + Entitystring
then int he conversion file i will have the following:
1001*              1001
1002*              1002
1003EntityA     1013
1003EntityB     1023
1003EntityC     1033
1004*               1004
Only thing is that I will have to hardcode, rather than using the property...

Is it possible to use an AppleScript to set a *custom* paper size in Word?

I've used the following script to set the paper size in Word:

The gallant Pierre strikes again!!! For reasons having to do with a quirk of working with Word documents coming from a Windows machine, I ended up having to go the UI route, but I couldn't have done it without you! I actually ended up changing the Format For: popup menu instead of the Paper Size: popup menu, but this technique could be used for those who wish to chose a custom paper size:

The HDMI port on your set top box is almoste certainly an output port and can't be used for the Apple TV.
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p.

Is it possible by using boot camp to set up a high spec mac pro to operate as a pc server for a network of approx 20 pcs

My company has recently bought a high end mac pro to act as a mac server. However it is no longer need but business does need a new server for a network of about 20 pcs. Is it possible or practical using boot camp to tuen the mac into a fully funtioning pc server?

Thanks for the info. I don't have Server 2008 but the Boot Camp documentation says Windows 7 only is supported. Glad you jumped in knowing that Server 2008 is supported.
In the original poster's post he said he wanted a fully functioning server so I assume he wants Server 2008. If he is misusing the term server and only needs a peer network then he can install Windows 7.

Now I want to import only records where city is HYD, is it possible through import manager?

Hi Rajeev,
You can filter records during import if one of the Matching field is of type Lookup.
In your case if you create City as flat lookup table in MDM & maintain lookup values in DM(Just as an example), then you can import only records where city is HYD.
Map Name & City, Then in Match Records tab select both the fields (Combination)
then right click on it & select Filter.. option.
Now new pop up will open where you be able to see ur Lookup table values, from there select HYD and Add
Now in default Import Action, set Create Action for None/None (All other will be skip)
This way you will import only HYD records.
But this is possible only on Lookup fields & not foe Text fields

Is it possible for a cluster to be set to allow variable data input?

I posted this question at the bottom of a different thread but it looks like that one has died out plus this is really a separate question. So I hope no one minds me starting a new thread here.
I made the program Convert2Matfile.vi which I intend to use as a SubVI in other programs. How I want this program to work is I would like to bundle up double any quantity of 1D/ 2D arrays and or numeric values and pass them to this tool which will then convert what ever it is sent to an appropriate variable in a matlab file using the element name as the matlab variable name.
The issue I am having here, is that currently I have a 1D, 2D and a numeric value sitting in the cluster definition on my front panel of the Convert2Matlfile.vi. Because I have this, the code is looking for every cluster to be structured exactally like the one I have in the front panel. How do I source that code more generically? See the photo below of the broken wire. Error message is as follows;
You have connected two arrays of different dimensions.
The dimension of input cluster -> array #2 is 1.
The dimension of Cluster In -> array 2 is 2.
So clearly it is looking for the Cluster to be exactally like the one it is looking for. Is there any way to do this more generically so it can accept any type of cluster of any quantity of values so long as they meet my criteria?

Well it looks like I will likely need to treat this as a variant. Unfortunatley for me I hate dealing with Variants in LabVIEW likely more as a result as a lack of understanding when it comes to how to deal with them than anything. My stratedgy I would think should be as follows figure out how many items are in my variant that are either a numeric, a 1D or a 2D array. Then one by one go to each of those values. If say it is a numeric get the numerical value, get the label name and send it over to my convert to Matlab program one by one.
So that would be the theory behind how I would try to do this. Now how the heck do I actually do anything along those lines? I can't even figure out how to get the number of elements in my variant. I would have thought the "Get Variant Attribute function" would be a great place to start. So I made up the exploreVariant.vi below. See the images of the code plus the front panel after execution. I followed the instructions from the following location;

Is it possible to include DUR2 function in a comparison formula?

I have a column of data where I compare month-over-month statistics. Some of the data in this column are simple decimals which calculate fine. But, some of the data are durations which do not.
This is my month-over-month comparison formula with conditional formatting:
=IF(A1>0,(B1-A1)/A1,"")
Is there a way to make this formula resolve durations?
I've tried:
=IF(DUR2HOURS(A1)>0,(DUR2HOURS(B1)-DUR2HOURS(A1))/(DUR2HOURS(A1),"")
But it didn't seem to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've run into this before. Your comparison operator needs to have operands of the same dimension. The best way to do this is to have a cell with the content "0h", formatted as duration, to compare to.
So, let's say your zero-hour constant is in table T1, cell A1, then the formula would be =IF(A1>T1 :: A1,(B1-A1)/A1,"").

You can use the adapter you linked to and get a DVI to HDMI cable locally and it will work for you.

Is it possible to "lock" the ring volume setting?

I have set the call ring volume to its highest setting.
However, I guess when handling the phone, my fingers sometimes squeeze down on the volume setting button on the side of the phone and lower the volume back down.
It is a huge pain.
Is there a way to lock the setting or to disable the volume button?

I have been looking through the phone since I saw your post, and I have not come across anything at this point. Have you looked through the market for an app that can control the sounds? You must be hitting the buttons while using the phone, as it should not adjust the volume when the phone is locked... Maybe a different case? Something that sticks out a little bit to help "hide" the buttons?
