Is it possible to create a MPEG4 file that is still hi def?
Hello, I'm new to Compressor, having just installed Compressor 3.5. I have a short Final Cut hi def (1080i) video file that my son wants to upload as a hi def file on youtube. He tried uploading the Final Cut file, but it was too large for youtube (over 3 gig), and apparently they requested a mpeg4 file. I messed with Compressor last night and created a 952 MB file using the Hi Def folder in Setting. I also created a 252 MB file using the MPEG4 folder in Settings. But somehow I don't believe that the MPEG4 file is hi def.
Is it even possible to create an mpeg4 file in compressor that is hi def? If so, could you please tell me which setting to use?
Thanks so much, Bob
Does the 1280 X 720 indicate that it is definitely hi def?
By definition (no pun intended), 'high definition' is any resolution greater than 'standard definition.' Standard definition video in NTSC is 720x480 (NTSC rectangular pixels or NTSC 640x480 square pixels). Standard definition in PAL is 720 x576.
how is it possible to still have hi def, if the file is 1/9 the size of the original file?
For a watered down version of compression, some of the information for each pixel's RGB values are thrown out during the compression process. For example, in MPEG-2 compression (commonly used for DVD and broadcast TV), the first frame is an independent or "I" frame, containing all the data for each pixel's RGB value. The next 14 frames only contain the data for each pixel that changed from the I frame or from the previous frame. This group of 15 frames is known as a GOP (group of pictures). The 16th frame is another "I" frame and consequently starts another GOP.
In reality it's a heck of a lot more complex than that, but that's the basics of video compression. For a more detailed explanation, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_compression

Is it possible to create an installation file using the
"setup -k" command for
iPlanet Calendar Server(iCS) 2.1? And is it possible to install iCS 2.1 with
JumpStart
from an installation server, or do I need to use the installation log?
<P>
The installer for iCS 2.x does not support silent installation (the
setup -k command). To install
iCS 2.x, the system administrator must run the installer directly on each
system where the calendar server is to be installed.
<P>
Silent installation may be supported on a future release.Wanted to know if [...] is possible to create an offline file(.cab) of our current, company specific Windows Updates.

Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles
Hi All,
Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles?
on any OS or DB version
regards,
sachinif I understand properly:
- you have a script to recreate the controlfile
- you have all of your database files backed up except your controlfiles
This should work as this is how we sometimes refresh dev databases:
1) restore the copies of the database files
2) recreate the controlfile
3) recover the database files to the desired point in time (if hot backup or archivelogs are available, otherwise, it would be as of the time of the backup)
4) add temp files to temporary tablespace(s)
The simpler solution would be to backup your controlfile at the same time as your datafiles (RMAN or o/s copy).
I hope I understood your question properly. -
Possible to create a JAR file from within a java app?
Is it possible to create a jar file from within a java application?
Can it be done more elegantly than by spawning-off another
process with the Runtime and exec() portions of the api?
Thanks
ScottThanks! I was mislead by the API notes for java.util.jar:
The JarOutputStream class is used to write the contents
of a JAR file to any output stream.
I was looking for a class or method to make jar files.
Seems this is it ;)
Thanks

Is it possible to create an "offline" file of company specific updates?
Hello everyone -
Wanted to know if and how it is possible to create an offline file(.cab) of our current, company specific Windows Updates. We currently use the stand alone SUS for all domain PCs.
I'd then like to apply this file to our current image, then capture it.
Currently our image is a bit dated and any deployment of this image will then have to "catch up" to all of our updates that we deploy, (around 300MB+ right now).
TIA,

Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the SQL as a param
Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the FULL sql statement as a paramater and returns variable results based on this?
We have a requirement to have a generic export routine to spit out csv's from clicking on a web page hyperlink, which would need to accept a "new" sql statement for every run, each containing different columsn etc that would be needed in the output.
I was hoping could have a generic Oracle report, exporting delimited data format (and as such not using a layout) and somehow pass in the "new" sql statement as a parameter at run time - each sql statement would be different with different columns etc.
Is this possible with oracle reports ?
thanksIf you need a simple dump of data you could try writing a report with a simple query such as
select 'Report title or column headers'
from dual
&data_query
then your &data_query parameter could be
union select col1||','||col2 from data_table
If you are outputing a comma separated data dump the you can concatenate together your data into a single text field.
This would allow you to have a simple heading followed by the actual data. I guess you could extend this so that the 'Report title or column headers' from the first query was also a parameter to output your row headings i.e.
select :column_headings_text
from dual
&data_query
Give it a go and good luck -

How do I create a .llb file that holds all the subVIs used in a VI?
Hi
I wish to create a .llb file that holds all the subVIs(~200) used in my main VI.
When I open my main VI, and look into the 'show VI hierarchy' I see a lot of subVIs, so to copy all these subVIs into the library file is going to be really time consuming. I am hoping there is an option in Labview by which I could automatically put all these subVIs into one library file?
Thank you
Gautham Radhakrishnan

University of TorontoIn your toplevel VI, go to "File..save with options".
Now select "Development distribution", press save, and give it a name for the llb.

How do I create a pdf file that is 300 dpi in Adobe Acrobat XI?
How do I create a pdf file that is 300 dpi in Adobe Acrobat XI?
PDF files do not have a "resolution" - they aren't images. The pages are a mix of vector art and text, and raster (pixel-based) graphics. The raster items on a page can (and often do) have different resolutions.

Is it possible to create a standard form that can be emailed to anyone and once filled out by the receiver, have a button that the receiver clicks and the form is encrypted and attached to an email back to the sender and a preset admin password would open it?
Hello Graphicsguy123,
You would need to first create the form ( or Widget in EchoSign) first to generate a url which you can paste it in the email being sent to customers. You would need to make sure you have a Document Cloud Enterprise Premium account in order to create a Widget. If you don't have the account, you can use the trial version to test it. Here is the link:

How do I create a .llb file that includes only the subVIs used in a VI?
hi....
can anybody help me ...i wanna creat a library file that holds only the sub-VIs that are running in particular main VI .
are there options for that in labview??I don't think understand the answer. From just the top level VI, do like I said and an llb will be created with the top level and all subVIs. You can also edit the llb (Tools>Edit VI Library) and make your main VI top level. A note of caution. An llb was originally designed as a means of storing VIs with extended names. With modern OS's allowing long file names, an llb is less useful except as a convenient means of distributing a group of VIs from one location to another. This would be done as a final distribution such as an instrument driver or to another developer who would then convert the llb to a folder. There are several problems with keeping the development VIs in an llb. One is that it doesn't work with any form of source code cont
rol. Another is that a corrupt VI in an llb can and has made the entire llb unreadable so unless you are absolutely religous about backups, you made find yourself in deep trouble some day. -
I am having trouble bouncing and creating an aiff file that plays back. I've checked my output settings which appear to be correct. Although I am able to create MP3s, the aiffs are blank. The happens when I try to export a track as an aiff file - it's blank.
When bouncing, do you use the Key Command or the button on the Output Channel Strip? The Key Command only bounces from the Stereo Output. The bounce button bounces from the Channel Strip it is on. So if you want to bounce out outputs 3-4 or higher, don't use the key command, but the button.
The strange thing here is that Logic, when it bounces an MP3, first bounces an AIFF, which at the end of the bounce process is being converted to MP3, so I can't imagine how you can get a silent AIFF and a normal MP3.
How have you listened to those bounces? iTunes? Quicklook? Quicktime? -
