Is it possible to create a word doc or excel in iPad Air

Is it possible to create a word doc or excel in iPad Air? Also is it possible to open or transfer documents from my computer to my iPad?

Yes. you will need the appropriate apps to do that. some options:
Apple's Pages and Number. These will create documents in their respective native formats, but can be exported in Word or Excel (among others) as needed. They will also import from those formats (with limitations)
MS has published Word and Excel fort the iPad, but in order to create of edit files, you need an Office 365 subscription ($99 USD per year, I believe)
There are a number of other apps available in the apps store that will also accomplish this for you.
Just be aware that regardless of the apps chosen, there will be limitations compared to Word and Exel for PC (I don't know of any app for iOs that can handle pivot tables, for example)

Yes, several options, including syncing via itunes. However, you may fiond using a cloud service is more convenient. What you chose will depend on teh editing apps you use.I use DropBox and Box externsively, as well as iCloud (if you opt for Apple's apps). Skydrive would be your best option if you use MS apps.

  • OLE2 Doc/Code snippet to assist in creating a word doc with underlined text

I would like to use OLE2 to create a simple Word document. I would like some of the text to be bold/underlined and the rest of the text to be regular. There seems to be a serious dearth of information regarding OLE2 in conjunction with PS/SQL in Word applications. We're running Forms 6 and Oracle 9i.
I don't believe that I need to use the techniques described in the Forms Manual (OLE2 containers, etc.). I have managed to create a Word doc and write some text to it but I've been unable to find out/guess at the syntax that I'd need to control bolding and underlining. It would be a big help if I could just find the syntax for Word OLE2 commands. During my documentation search, I seem to remember a post that mentioned 'Reference 2' and maybe 'Reference 3' as a source of information related to OLE2 in PL/SQL code. If anyone can give me a shove in the right direction I'm more than willing to read the manuals. I won't be too disappointed if someone could send me a code snippet either!

    Hi Ron,
Office ships with a number of resources that you will find indispensable for the sort of work you're doing. Take a look at the VBA IDE (Visual Basic for Applications IDE). You may already be familiar with it, if you've ever written a Word macro, but to call it a macro editor sells it short -- it is a full-blown development environment. Its Object Browser allows you to browse Word's object model, search by keyword, and view call syntax.
In case you aren't familiar with the VBA IDE, try this:
    1. Open Word
    2. Switch between Word and the VBA IDE by pressing <Alt><F11>
    3. Open the Object Browser by pressing <F2>
Spend some time familiarizing yourself with the Object Browser. Constrain its scope by selecting the Word library instead of <All Libraries> (the default). Learn to search by keyword. Click on items within your results for details. If Visual Basic Help is installed, pressing <F1> will raise help on a selected item.
Visual Basic Help may not be part of the Compact or Typical install. Running Office Setup, either from the install CD, or through Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel, will allow you to add the feature. (The Office installer lists Visual Basic Help in the Office Tools section.)
I have found the VBA IDE to be the perfect place for prototyping and testing automated processes. It is a far friendlier environment for learning Office automation, as it offers code completion and context-driven help. Once the process works, I manually translate my VBA routine into Forms PL/SQL, which is fairly painless. I've written a short tutorial, that I will post shortly -- I didn't want to bury it in this thread!
    Hope this helps,

    Hi c3 cyber club,
Unfortunately FormCentral and Echosign are two different services and forms created in Forms central can only be submitted via and to Forms Central.
We cannot have the form filled in using FormCentral and get it signed using Echosign.
However, you can use Echosign directly and you can get most of the functionality.

iwork for ios accepts for upload and also happily opens all your Microsoft office files, from Office97 standard doc/xls/ppt to the 2011 versions of docx, xlsx, pptx and various other of these format extensions.
Notice : the upload feature in www.icloud.com is only active if you in fact own these apps on your iPhone/Pad/pod. it is not a feature of iWork for the Mac ( iwork09 ) which itself is not icloud capable at all.

  • Copying word.doc and excell spreadsheets

    I just bought a new Curve 8330.
Can I copy word.docs and excell spreadsheets to my Blackberry?
    If so, how?
Thank you for any help you may give me.
    Gordon

    Yes, you can.
    1. You can email the files to yourself and from the BlackBerry device, download to your Media Card.
    2. You can set the Media Card to Mass Storage Support, and move the documents from your PC to the BlackBerry while connected to the PC via the USB cable.
    See this:  http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_add_media_files_to_my_microSD_card%3F
Now, if you have OS 5.0 on your device, (Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.xxx") you will have DocumentsToGo and WordToGo and SheetsToGo installed on your device (look in the Applications folder).

  • Is it possible to add a word doc (as a separate file) in Captivate?

This could help to satisfy 508 compliance. This is in addition to the closed captioning feature, which I plan to incorporate.
FYI - I used Articulate Presenter in the past and was able to attach a Word Document, which user was able to access via link.
It would be nice to have a word doc incorporated into the stand-alone Captivate outpout.
    Thanks!

    Hi Share,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You can add a word doc in Captivate as a separate file.
On a button or click box you can select the Action to "Open URL or File" and then type the name of the word doc in URL box. After publishing the output paste the word doc in the output folder and this will open the word doc as a separate file from the button.
    Thanks

  • Performance issue when opening DOCX Word Doc with Excel Links

Is this a bug or is there a config setting that can prevent Word from needlessly opening Excel repeatedly (upon initial open of a DOCX Word doc) when pre-existing links should NOT be updated. The behavior is good using 2003 formats (DOC & XLS),
but varies significantly (~100:1 range in performance) depending on the test scenario (see below) using DOCX with XLSX.
We can't move our environment to the new XML formats until we can find a fix. We were led to believe Microsoft knew this to be a bug in Office 2007, but it has NOT been corrected in Office 2010. Omitting a detailed explanation for why we need to
do this, here's our test scenarios:
-Currently testing Office 2010 Pro Trial version on WIN XP SP3. (We have found similar results using Office 2007 with Win7 or XP).
-Word Option Deselected/DISABLED: "Update Automatic Links at Open"
-The Word Doc contains 100 linked Excel tables and is 130K in size (DOCX).
-Each link points to the same 10x10 cell range in one Excel Workbook located in same directory as the Word Doc, although other tests using separate directories produced similar results.
-The Excel Links were inserted into Word via Paste Special/Paste Link/MS Excel Worksheet Object.
-The workbook (XLSX) is 15K in size.
-All Links are set for "Manual" update, our testing showed no difference if links are set to "Auto".
-Again, Word is set to NOT update Automatic links when the document is opened.
-Results shown below are for local hard drive test.
-Network response times are slightly greater on 100mb LAN
-Word is completely restarted prior to each test to make sure there's no application caching involved.
LOCAL DRIVE RESPONSE TIMES TO OPEN THE WORD DOC in Docx format:
    1. Open the Word Doc from Word with Excel closed - 175 seconds (Excel appears to be opened and closed once per link)
    2. Open the Word Doc from Word with Excel open & workbook closed - 33 seconds (Excel appears to be accessed once per link)
    3. Open the Word Doc from Word with the linked workbook already open - 7 seconds (Excel appears to be accessed once per link)
    4. Rename Excel XLSX workbook so that Word can't find it. Then open Doc the from Word. 1-2 seconds (Excel does not appear to be invoked)
    5. Repeat ALL of the above scenarios 1-4 using DOC and XLS files. These files are created with "Save AS" option based on original test files and then re-pasting the links.  1-2 seconds to open the Word Doc (Excel does not appear to be invoked)
    Summary
Using DOCX/XLSX, if Word can't find the linked spreadsheet it gives up and performs nicely during file-open. Otherwise, Word performs needless, time-consuming access to Excel, and in the worst case, opens and closes Excel repeatedly in the background.
Testing with DOC/XLS formats gives good performance across all scenarios.

It is a known bug and one for which AFAIK, there has been no fix.  The only way that I could get around it in a particular application was to do something like save the linked information as document variables and then on opening the document recreate
all the information.  My memory on exactly what I did is a bit hazy, but I can go back and check if you are interested.

  • Word doc with excel table to pages conversion

    Help!
Im a new Mac user and am trying to convert a word doc to pages.  The stumbling block is that the word doc has an excel spreadsheet in it and pages converts this to a text box rather than a table.

.cwk (Claris Works) covers several types of documents, now openable by several applications so I do not think you can do that automatically, you must export them in Claris/AppleWorks, then import them in apps of the younger generation. Pages can open, I think, only cwk files created as word processing in AW 6.x.x

  • Word docs and PDFs on iPad

I don't have an iPad yet but I'm considering buying one. Can I transfer a Word doc or a PDF from my computer to an iPad in order to read it? To edit it?

You have to be careful with annotation apps. With some, you can view the annotations in some pdf readers but not others. There have been discussions about this before, below I include a post by GNRBeaumont. I have PDF Expert, but it can't create the two types of annotation formats (see below) - but it does have other features that are valuable. Since iAnnotate PDF can handle the two formats, I bought that as well. You'll also be wise to have several pdf readers, since some do not read material that other do. Anyway, the post I referred to...
"I have spent several hours of research and trial and error and money on numerous apps to learn a surprising thing about pdf.
Annotations will not show up unless [1] the viewing app supports the particular format by which the annotation was added or [2] You are using an annotation that saves in image format (still a pdf file).
I like the latter but that means the annoation can not be edited.
The best for "2" are neu.annotate and noterize. When your annotations are made in this format everything will read it including built in email attachment viewer.
Number "1" is a mess. If you use editable format for adding annotation then the built in email viewer will not show it and many other pdf readers (iPad and desktop) MAY not read it. I have had really crazy combos, including one where my desktop would see it but when it printed the annotation disappeared.
The app in "1" category that seems most universally reliable is pdf expert.
iannotate is the only one I know of that lets you choose what format (editable or non editable) to save in. But it currently has a rotation bug that they are working on.
Since I want to make sure that whomever I send annotations to can see them, I use method "2" "

  • Is there a way to sync word docs from MacBook to iPad?

I've read through some forums about this but they all seem to be pretty old with a lot of back and forth about whether or not this is possible. I'm trying to see if there is a way to sync my word documents between my iPad and Macbook. I've tried pages but am not a fan and honestly have trouble transferring from a word doc to pages doc so I can edit it on my iPad then convert it  back from pages to word once I'm back on my Macbook and I have way too many documents to spend the time doing that and unfortunately they have to be in word.
Anyway, just curious any help would be appreciated and please keep it friendly (I've seen a lot of bashing in these forums too)
    Thanks!

  • Word docs from pc to iPad

I can't figure out how to share a word doc from my pc to the iPad. I went through the steps in the manual but can't find the file share option they talk about in the app tab on iTunes. Any ideas?

Do you have Pages installed on your iPad? If not, I'm not sure that file transfer option will appear, though I'm not certain; perhaps someone else here can confirm or refute. If that is indeed the case, then you'll have to email the document to an account your iPad can pick up, or get Pages or one of the other iPad apps that supports Word docs and provides a file transfer capability.

  • Using MS Word and Excel on Ipad Air

I use MS Word and Excel 2010 on my PC and I work from home copying data (copy and paste) from an internet web site into these programs. I have ordered an iPad Air and want to go to the internet with it when I'm away and copy formatted data from a web page into a program on my iPad, then put these files (one a text file in Word and one a data file in columns in Excel in idrop box where they will stay until I get back home and copy them to my PC in Word and Excel. Can I do this? How?

Thank you, that looks like the answer, now all I need to know is if the iPad will allow me to cut and paste.
The web site I use is an online newspaper that I get information for mailing advertising. I sign in and go to text files and data lists and from there I open the office program and select, copy and paste. The Excel workbook page accepts the paste of the columns data exactly as they appear on the web page. Also the text section allows me to select just what text I need, then copy and paste into Word. They are not large files. I can fine tune the data later on my PC Office 2010 when I retrieve it from Drop Box.
Up to now I have been doing it from my PC Office 2007 laptop when I'm away and it works fine and put them in Drop Box. Now I want to use an iPad, as my laptop is heavy and the battery is dead. I also plan on using iCloud. The apple world is all very new to me.
