Is it possible to have an empty column title in a configTable?

Hi all,
is it possible to have an empty column title within a configurable table (chtmlb:configTable)? Whenever I change the title with the config tool to empty and save the changes it seems that it doesn't take effect.
The problem is that the column width is too less to display the whole text and I don't want to have "A..." displayed there.
Best regards
Ben

Hi,
Not possible directly but possible programatically.
The Column titles come from the data-element description. To override this, you will need to change the data element nd its fairly simple. Create a data element similar to the std. data element domain but put your description and then in GET_M method of that attribute, use this Z data type.
For example, suppose its searhc result Displaying addresses in a table view, then for states, you get name as "Region".
In most of asian countires, instead of region, "state" this word is used. So if i want to disply the colum header as states and not region,
1) i will find which is the doain of std. region field.
2) i will create a data element with this domain but i will give different description to my data element, This description would be States
3) In the GET_M method of that particular column attribute, i will change the type to my data element.
an i am done.
Thus you can create your data element with shorten and more meaningful text . I think system does not allow you to save a data element or domain w/o a description hence i doubt if blank will be possible..need to check it out.
Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to have a fixed column width and a URL link?

    I am trying to achieve having a popup link on a column within a SQL report but also have the report column a certain width. I can have either or however not at the same time.
    What I did was created a SQL report, edited a column and gave it a URL redirect (page in application) as normal.
    For the fixed column width, I used:
    <div style="width:250px; height:54px; overflow:hidden" title="#Comments#">#Comments#</div>On Column Formatting / HTML Expression
    And for the popup URL, I used:
    onclick="window.open(this.href,'_blank','resizable=0,scrollbars=0,width=650,height=300,menubar=0,location=0');return false;" title="Comments"On the Column Link / Link Attributes

    Andy thank you for your reply, however I either am not completly understanding or there is a problem elsewhere.
    I have changed to the code to fit the needs of the application as so:

    App ID: 523
    Page: 23
    Item: P23_STATUS_COMMENT
    Column to select: Comments
    Whenever clicking on the link, the following error is given:

  • It's possible to have, on a column library, the relation of a document with the others ?

    hello,
    I have a document library. I need to permit the user to bind a document A with a document B, C, ... this relation is reciprocal. So I need to have on the item of document B the relation with the document A. the bind must be an hyperlink on a column ColBind.
    And I want also to program the least posible.
    I tent some cases :
    use documents set. it's bad for : a document A is bind with a document B wich is band with a document C, but A and C aren't bind together
    use a column lookup multiple. it's good for : easy to enter data, the links are good for the document A / it's bad for : I don't have reprocity
    on the document B; all titles needs to be differents
    use a liste to save the binds. it's good for : conserve the data bind informations / it's bad for : I can't automate all the binds on a column and have the hyperlink
    use a data source linking : it's bad for : I don't found how put the information on a column of the library
    can you help me for chose the solution and give me starting how deploy this?
    thanks

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to make different documents have the relation in a document library.
    I recommend that you can follow the steps as below to create a lookup column in the current document library to implement it in your environment.
      1.  Open this document library in  your site, go to the “Library Tools”, click on the “Create Column” under the Library tab.
      2.  Create a Lookup type column named as “lookup”, set the “Get information from” option to the current document library, select the “In this column” option to “ID”, check the “Allow multiple values” option, and set the “Add a column to show
    each of these additional fields” to “Title”, click on the “OK” button.
    Then, you can make users to select the corresponding documents ID to lookup when they add new documents into the document library or edit these documents’ properties.
    The result is shown as below:

  • Changing Matrix column title?

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to change a matrix column title using the ColumnTitle.Caption property? I have tried using the following code but it does not work:
    'Sales order form - Add mode.
    If pVal.FormType = 139 And pVal.FormMode = 3 Then
    'After form loads
    If pVal.EventType = et_FORM_LOAD And pVal.Before_Action = False Then
    'SO form.
    Set oForm = oApp.Forms.Item(FormUID)
    Set oItem = oForm.Items.Item("38")
    Set oMatrix = oItem.Specific
    Set oColumn = oMatrix.Columns.Item("1")
    oColumn.TitleObject.Caption = "Item Code"
    End If
    End If
    Thank you.
    Andrew.

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the reply. Your questions/suggestions led me on a path to finding the problem and a solution.
    I tried the same block of code in another company db and it changed the column title fine. The reason it wouldn't work in the current company db I'm working on was because I had previously changed the column title to 'Item No.' (using ctrl & double-click). So the SDK was changing the Original Description but the new desc. of 'Item No.' remained unchanged. As soon as I deleted the new desc. the SDK worked fine.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Andrew.

  • Is it possible to have an icon in the column title of a chtmlb:configTable?

    Hi all,
    is it possible to have an icon (with tooltip) displayed in the column header as the title within a configTable (extension chtmlb)? I think I already know the answer but I want to try everything I can.
    Within the configuration mode I think there is not possibility isn't it? But is there any kind of coding (maybe with columnDefinitions or something) to do it?
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards.
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
    You can try enhancing the handler class of the BSP Element (configTable). There is a method in the class CL_CHTMLB_CONFIG_TABLE named IF_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW_ITERATOR~GET_COLUMN_DEFINITIONS. Or create a new BSP Element based on a custom class similar to the standard one.

  • My New Tab Page does not work at all. I just have the empty squares with nothing in them at all?

    My New Tab Page does not work at all. I just have the empty squares with nothing in them at all?
    I know how to use about:config & have had the usual problems with newtab page tiles but this is more like a bug- using 33.0.1. Doesn't show tiles icon in top right corner just shows a gear that is used to hide the empty tiles that I can't fill with sites. First it would only show 2 rows of 4 columns even though I had it set to 5 & 6 then few days later for no reason they went empty with a serrated line around the tiles & can't drag from the bookmarks---- really bloody annoying!!!!!!! Possibly a setting in the about:config but i can't fig it out?

  • Is it possible to have a dropdown with a blank option

    Is it possible to have a dropdown with a blank option
    1) When desigining a form is it possible to have a dropdown with a blank option as the first option.
    2) Also if the field is a required field will the application prompt the user if the blank option is selected.

    1) If you are using any dynamic data from database tables then you can use below sample query:
    select  * from (Select ' ' QueueName, ' '  QueueValue from tabXYZ where  columnname = <provide some value that is not available in this  column>
    union
    Select columnname QueueName, columnname QueueValue from tabXYZ) s
    order by QueueValue
    2) Onsumbit of the form in ISF you need to capture the empty value(' ') for validation

  • How to hide/suppress empty columns in pivot tables

    In a pivot table, is there any way to do something like "suppress missing data" to make an entire column hidden only if it is empty? I have a situation where I can't hide an entire measure because the measure has values for another dimension, but I would like to hide the column that is empty. See the example below. I would like to hide the combination of Dim1 and Measure 2, and the combination of Dim 2 and Measure 3. I can't hide all columns with Dim1 and/or Dim2, or Measure2 and/or Measure3. Is there any way to hide just the column with the empty combination? Thanks.
    Dim1 Measure1 Always populated
    Dim2 Measure1 Always populated
    Dim1 Measure2 Always null
    Dim2 Measure2 Always populated
    Dim1 Measure3 Always populated
    Dim2 Measure3 Always null

    Bhawna -
    That made a difference, but it still needs some work. The IfNull() function picked up every value in the columns that I wanted to hide and changed them to zero. The conditional formatting that you suggested hid the content in those columns from the HTML. However, there ended up being several issues:
    1) IfNull() picked up other null values that happened to be in the resultset, so the conditional formatting was applied to more than intended. I could correct that by changing the data value in the physical database columns for the entire pivot table columns that I want hidden, but then I have to work around having bogus values in those intersections. Still, that is a possible workaround.
    2) The column headers for the columns that I want to disappear did not go away. When I applied CSS display:none, it shifts the pivot table cells to the left, so a lot of the data ends up under the wrong column headings.
    3) CSS display:none only hides the content from screen readers. When I view the pivot table on the dashboard and print it to a PDF, the data in the columns that I want to disappear are back.
    That still seems like it's a long ways from "suppress missing data" for the entire column. Thanks for your suggestion.

  • In a ADG is it possible to have a pie chart in a summary row?

    In a ADG is it possible to have a pie chart in a summary row?
    The segments would be worked out from a funtion applied to the data
    in that grouping.
    Thanks :)

    The JTable is a tabular component. So it will always have enough columns to display the maximum row length. you don't have to pur a value in every cell.
    There are methods in JTable to remove horizontal and vertical lines and you could implement a renderer to make empty cells look like the background.

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information. Outcome: Unknown Error

    Received this error (The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information.) recently on a workflow that was
    working fine and no changes were made to the workflow.
    I have tried a few suggestions, i.e. adding a pause before any ‘Update’ action (which didn’t help because the workflow past this action without incident); checked the data type being written
    to the fields (the correct data types are being written); and we even checked the list schema to ensure the list names and the internal names are aligned (they
    are), but we still cannot figure out why the workflow is still throwing this error.
    We located the area within the workflow step where it is failing and we inserted a logging action to determine if the workflow would execute the logging action but it did not, but wrote the same error message.
    The workflow is a Reusable Approval workflow designed in SharePoint Designer 2010 and attached to a content type.
    The form associated with the list was modified in InfoPath 2010.
    Approvers would provide their approval in the InfoPath form which is then read by the workflow.
    Side note - items created after the workflow throws this Unknown Error some seem to be working fine.
    We have deleted the item in question and re-added it with no effect.
    Based on what we were able to determine there don’t seem to be any consistency with how this issue is behaving.
    Any suggestions on how to further investigate this issue in order to find the root cause would be greatly appreciated?
    Cheers

    Hi,
    I understand that the reusable workflow doesn’t work properly now. Have you tried to remove the Update list item action to see whether the workflow can run without issue?
    If the workflow runs perfectly when the Update list item action is removed, then you need to check whether there are errors in the update action. Check whether the values have been changed.

  • Is it possible to have an Opaque Border

    Is it possible to have a transparent border? I'm asking because I'm putting a component into one of Hans Mullers wizzzy MultiSplitPanes which in turn is opaque because It's used inside a TabbedPane (XP colours these with a white background gradient .i.e. not dialog grey).
    The tree with scrollpane weren't quite centered so a slapped an empty border on it with insets to make it look square, but the border - even empty ones appear opaque when used inside a transparent component?! Anyone seen this before?
    nb.I'd guess it would be possible to nest the scrollpane inside yet another transparent panel with a gridbag insets of (2,2,3,2).. but that seems even more of a pain just to shuffle up one pixel.
    This should illustrate the problem, you shouldnt see any grey around the tree:
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.EmptyBorder;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class BorderShouldNotBeSeen {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            JFrame frame = new JFrame();
            JPanel panel = new JPanel();
            frame.getContentPane().add(panel);
            // make it really obvious, should see red right up to the darker scrollpane/tree border
            frame.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.RED);
            panel.setOpaque(false);
            // just BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder() didnt cut it.. so then I used..
            class MyBorder extends EmptyBorder {
                public MyBorder(Insets insets) {
                    super(insets);
                public boolean isBorderOpaque() {
                    // ..guess what it still looks opaque!
                    return false;
            JScrollPane treePane = new JScrollPane(new JTree());
            treePane.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(
                    new MyBorder(new Insets(10, 10, 11, 10)), treePane.getBorder()));
            panel.add(treePane);
            frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            frame.pack();
            frame.setVisible(true);
    }- Richard

    Wow, yes that fixes it - obvious when you think about it, the borders were just increasing the insets on the component. Just didn't see it.. Thanks.

  • RE: DropLists in ArrayFields - is it possible to have adifferent sele

    Richard;
    Here you go....
    newList : Array of ListElement = new;
    { add elements }
    row : Integer = { get your row };
    column : Integer = { get by name or just know the number }
    // poof! Watch that down cast!
    (DropList)(<arrayField>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row,column)).SetElementList(
    newList);
    You can also change FieldWidget settings....
    <arrayField>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row,column).FillColor =
    C_BLUE;
    My array field doesn't scroll (lucky me!). See if the AfterFieldScrolled
    event fires at the right time to recalculate the widget state. I haven't
    played with it and I'm far from a Forte GUI guru, but I suspect that you are
    altering the column template and the visible widget is separate from the
    data. So as you scroll, the data would scroll but the new settings stay
    put. That's not what I would want/need. The widget reflects something
    about the data. When the data scrolls, so should the presentation
    properties!
    What may be needed is to somehow derive the presentation state settings
    dynamically from the mapped data. So when the data scrolled, the dynamic

    Subject: DropLists in ArrayFields - is it possible to have a
    different selection list per row?
    I have a DropList in an ArrayField column. Is it possible to have a
    different list of selections for each DropList in a different row?
    (ex.
    DropList #1 in row #1 can choose from a/b/c, whereas a DropList #2
    in row
    #2 can choose only from d/e/f, etc.) Technote 4996 seems to imply
    that it
    isn't possible, and everything I've tried so far has failed as well.
    Any insight appreciated.

    One way to do this is to get at the specific dropList widget in the
    arrayField by calling the getChildInCell(Row,Column) method on
    <..theArrayField..>.BodyGrid. This widget can then be assigned any
    dropList you want. Depending on the uniqueness of the individual
    dropLists, each data row specific dropList can be coded as an attribute
    (array of ListElement) on the mapped class, which can then be assigned
    to the dropList widget.
    A code snippet to do this would be -
    method refreshArray
    begin
    for displayRow in 1 to <myArrayField>.VisibleRows do
    dataRow : integer = displayRow + <myArrayField>.TopRow - 1;
    myDropListWidget : dropList =
    dropList(<myArrayField>.BodyGrid.getChildInCell(displayRow,
    <..columnNumOfDropList..>));
    myDropListWidget.setElementList(myArrayField[dataRow].myElementList);
    end for;
    end method;
    This method has be called only when the user scrolls the arrayField, as
    in -
    when <myArrayField>.AfterFieldScrolled do
    refreshArray();
    Hope this helps.
    Prashant.

  • Can you have a calculated column in a table not a view?

    We have a table which contains a series of rows
    Key   Effective Date   Value
    1       10/Feb/2006     123
    1       23/Oct/2006      456
    ...We have a requirement to store an indicator that tells us which row is the most current and what the end date of the preceding row was so that we get something along the lines of:
    Key   Effective Date   Value   Status         End Date
    1       10/Feb/2006     123      HISTORY    22/Oct/2006
    1       23/Oct/2006      456     CURRENT   NULL
    ...I can produce this result quite easily using the analytic function LEAD. My question is, is the answer to this problem to create a view over the table that includes the analytic function or is it possible to define a calculated column in a table that would populate/maintain this vale as part of a table definition?
    And as I finish writing this I feel I've answered my own question but hey, there's no harm in asking how others have handled this kind of situation.
    Cheers
    Richard

    My bias would be to create a view that did the calculation.
    In theory, you could add those additional columns to a table and maintain the data via a set of triggers, but that would be substantially more complicated than the alternatives for little or no benefit.
    A third option would be a materialized view. That might be easier to deal with if you want to have different indexing strategies for current and historical records or if the historical data is queried often enough and updated infrequently enough that it ends up being cheaper to do the calculation once during the update rather than every time the query is run.
    A fourth option would be to use stored procedures to maintain the data and have that stored procedure expire the current row and add the new row.
    Finally, you might consider version-enabling your table using Workspace Manager rather than writing your own code since Oracle has already written all this code for you.

  • Hiding empty columns in ALV

    Hi all,
    I want to hide some columns in ALV which are empty on display when calling
    cl_gui_alv_grid->set_table_for_first_display
    That is to say the internaltable will contain empty columns.
    I know that using the "no_out" attribute of field catalog we can hide columns.
    But the question is how to find these columns which are empty - should I have to loop through the itab to find it out OR
    Can we set it in ALV LAYOUT or field catalog attributes so that it wont display empty columns.
    any help is appreciated....
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If i understood your question correctly,
    The you can try this
    TYPE-POOLS:slis,abap.
    TYPES:BEGIN OF ty,
          f1 TYPE c,
          f2 TYPE c,
          f3 TYPE c,
          f4 TYPE c,
          END OF ty.
    DATA:it TYPE TABLE OF ty,
         wa TYPE ty,
         wa_field TYPE slis_fieldcat_alv,
         i_fieldcat TYPE TABLE OF slis_fieldcat_alv,
         i_details TYPE abap_compdescr_tab,
         wa_comp TYPE abap_compdescr,
         ref_descr TYPE REF TO cl_abap_structdescr,
         lv_field TYPE abap_compname.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS:<fs>,
                  <fs1>.
    ref_descr ?= cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_data( wa ).
    i_details[] = ref_descr->components[].
    wa-f1 = 'A'.
    wa-f3 = 'C'.
    APPEND wa TO it.
    wa-f1 = 'X'.
    wa-f3 = 'Y'.
    APPEND wa TO it.
    if it[] is not initial.
    LOOP AT i_details INTO wa_comp.
      ASSIGN wa_comp-name TO <fs>.
      SORT it BY (<fs>) DESCENDING.
      CONCATENATE 'WA' '-' <fs> INTO lv_field .
      ASSIGN (lv_field) TO <fs1>.
        READ TABLE it INTO wa INDEX 1 transporting (<fs>).
      IF sy-subrc = 0 AND <fs1> IS NOT INITIAL.
        wa_field-fieldname = wa_comp-name.
        wa_field-seltext_m = wa_comp-name.
        APPEND wa_field TO i_fieldcat.
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.

        it_fieldcat        = i_fieldcat[]
