Is it possible to increase the disk size of a vm's system disk in ovm 2.2.2

I am running OVS 2.2 and OVM 2.2.2 - I have imported a OEL 5U6 template and created a machine to try and install OHS on .. unfortunately at about 95% through the install I run our of disk space - so I want to be able to increase the size of the drive... unfortunately the templates from edelivery dont seem to have lvm volumes so I cannot simply add a 2nd drive and extend the partition that way.
any help on how I can get round this is appreciated.

It may be that you need to do that in the storage section in OVM 2.2 - I have updated to 3.x as soon as it was released. If you are not able to expand the virtual disk itself, you can also create a new virtual disk and create a LVM pv on that one and add it to the LV of the system volume.

  • Possible to increase the total size of a software raid set?

    Hi,
I need to increase the size of a software raid set which is internally in one of the Xserves - originally it had 2x 400G drives.
I've swapped drives into the raid so they are both now 500G drives.
diskutil info drive XX (ie raid set) shows that the raid is still a 400G raid volume as expected.
Question is - can I grow the Raid Total Size to use all the capacity of the member volumes?
I guess the alternative is to remove the drives from the raid, enable raid on one of them and then add the other drive as a member... but this would mean I would have to take the raid offline.
The raid sets are not my system disks.
    Any clues?
    TIA

    Thanks for your help.
I rebuilt the array using enableRaid. Worked fine with Raid Volume offline for approx 5 minutes - although I had to degrade the array (and go bare with no mirror) twice in the process.
In case anyone is interested, this is what the process was:
1 Swap into Raid array larger drive (say, disk 2) and let array rebuild
    2 Disable file services.
3 removefromraid disk 2 (leave it mounted).
4 Unmount the raid set and eject drives (say, disk 1) Remove drive - it's the only original backup.
    5 enableRaid on disk 2
    Providing enableRaid is ok -
6 Insert a fresh larger size drive in the place of the removed drive (disk 1)
7 Unmount new drive and addToRaid
8 (Rebuild array). Providing rebuilding ok -
    9 Start file services again.
Data, permissions & ACLs were all intact. So now users can fill the rest of the raid up with more MP3s this week <sigh>
Maybe not the best approach but it worked well for me.

  • Is it even possible to increase the font size in the Illustrator CC UI? Panels are unreadable!

With the demise of my beloved Fireworks, I am giving Illustrator CC a try. Right off the bat it is unusable due to the microscopic font sizes in the UI, panels in particular. Is there any way to make the UI more readable?

In OSX search for the "FontTheme_Panel.xml" file within the "Adobe Illustrator CC.app" package. (right click + "show package contents"). In it you'll see the code below.... I didn't mess with the "!ENTITY" kText values, just the "FontSize name=" values. You'll probably want to bump the "Text_Main_Large" size up to 13. Past that it doesn't read well but then again I guess you could set custom row heights for panels like layers.
And as always, back up the original and back up your altered file.

  • Can I increase the page size in an existing PDF?

We have a PDF of a CAD drawing from a consultant.  The problem is, the page size is letter, and we need it to be tabloid to accommodate a section of General Notes and a Cost Estimate table.  We would rather not go back to the consultant both from a cost standpoint and from a time standpoint.
Is it possible to increase the page size within the PDF so that I have some blank space at top or bottom for the needed blocks?
I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

  • Is it possible to increase the size of my startup partition?

    Hello,
I need to know if it is possible to increase the size of my startup partition. I have a 320gig drive that I put in my MacMini. I had given my startup partition 100Gig, and then created 2 other partitions. I've since started getting messages that my diskspace was running low and wondered how that could be. Well, upon using Grandprespective I found I have a 45gig .sparsebundle file, which I believe is related to my use of FileVault. I had tried to turn off File Vault, but it then tells me that I don't have enough space to turn it off. My thinking, if it wasn't taking up so much space I wouldn't have that problem to begin with......
So then I thought I might be able to adjust the size of my startup partition, but after I shrink the size of the partition next to it, it still will not let me shrink the size of my start up partition.
Is it not possible to decrease the size of a startup partition?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Don't partition.
Off load files to another drive.
Clone and backup and then restore to a single HFS+ partition.
Partitions either don't work, get in the way, or you/I have to be ready to redo them.
Now, there may be a 3rd party program you can buy, but I'm not sure and of course you should not try anything without backups.
First thing that comes to mind would of course be "iPartition" but as I said, never used or read anything on.
The other, to buy yet again another larger or 2nd drive.

My friend just got a nice new 27" iMac. On such a large display the menu bar disappears into oblivian when you sit far enough back to actually use such a large display. Is it possible to increase the size of the top menu bar? I had a look around at preferences and couldn't find anything.

In short, no. Just found five or six threads asking this. Here's one.

    Thhanks for your reply.

I see, in Finder you have the ability to see things in multiple views. I would very strongly recommend you use the Find Out How Video tutorials , specifically Finder Basics. You can increase the font size in any view by clicking the View menu - Show View Options where you can increase the font size.

    Done. Thank you, Allan.
The sparse image article you sent a link to needs a little updating (or there's some variability in prompts (no password was required) with my OS and/or Disk Utility version), but it worked.
Phew! It would have been much more time consuming to use Time Machine to recover all my photos after repartitioning the drive.

  • Is it possible to increase the size of everything on the display (All fonts, icons, menu bars, etc) at once without changing the screen resolution?

I have a user with a new 27" Mac who is very.... specific... with how she wants things.  She says she needs the displayed size of everything on her computer increased as everything is too small.  I tried changing the resolution to 1920x1080, which she stated was around the size she wants, but this will not work for her since things aren't crystal clear and she says it hurts her eyes to view it like this.
I come from a Windows background so I assumed there would be a way to simply increase the display size of everything in one shot.  If not, what hoops will I need to jump through to have this adjusted for every application on the machine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OS X doesn't have a UI size increase ability like what you expect on Windows, it's been a long complaint of Mac users for ages, but Apple simply refuses to listen.

I have a web browser solution here, the other opiton is to use a scroll wheel/head mouse and a Universal Access "control" key to press while scolling with the mouse up and down to zoom in/out where the mouse is pointed or some other trackpad etc arrangement.

  • Not possible to increase the size of a sparsebundle on 10.5.7

Hi, I have a sparsebundle of 300GB on a NAS (Droboshare). It's used for Time Machine backups. I think the band size is 64MB.
I can decrease the size (e.g. from 300 to 299GB) with hdiutils but when I try to increase it, I always get the following error message:
    hdiutil resize -size 350g DroboCapsule/MacBook_00xxxxxxxxx.sparsebundle
hdiutil: resize failed - Operation not supported
    Am i doing something wrong?
    Thanks for any hint.
    Cedric

I've seen a number of threads about this issue all having to do with the fact that you changed the band size. if you leave the band size the default then you can increase the bundle size without any issues. this is pretty clearly a bug in 10.5.7. it's probably been submitted already but you might want to do it anyway

  • Do Leopard icons increase the file size?

In programs like Photoshop you have the option of including a preview or a thumbnail icon for the image you’re saving. This is important to know because, if you are making a web page or trying to fit as many files as possible on a disk, you want the file sizes to be as small as possible, and you do not want the images saved with a thumbnail icon or preview.
In Leopard, in list and icon views, I noticed that the files have an icon whether you had these settings turned on in Photoshop or not. How does this work? Are those icons in the finder being embedded into the file or is Leopard some somehow generating them “on the fly” and not increasing the file size of the individual images? Does Cover Flow work the same way, and generate the previews on the fly rather than embedding anything into the images?

Unless you've given a file a custom icon, through the Finder, Photoshop, or another method, the icons are generated elsewhere in the system and aren't part of the file itself.

is it possible to increase the hard drive capacity on my Macbook Pro?

If you feel confident, you can do it yourself.
If not, Apple can do it for the small matter of money.
    If you go to http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
Find you Mac on this page it has videos that show you how to replace the disk drive.
After you view the video then you can make your mind up as to which is the correct way for you to go.

  • How do you increase the volumne size of a hard drive partition?

how do you increase the volumne size of a hard drive partition? the drive is set up into 3 partitions C, HP_tools and, recovery, C has space and would like to move some to HP_tools that is full. when I run backup I get drive full. I have run backup now to an external drive so that is not an issue.

    Hi,
Firstly please don't keep anything in HP_TOOLS except things have been there. You can use Windows systems tool called Disk  Management. Please use the following tutorial:
