Is it possible to link out to external URLs from within an HTML widget, and have them open in Safari?

I can add links within the iBook content, but if they're added inside an HTML widget, the new page loads *inside* the widget itself, with no ability to navigate back etc.
Is there any way to have external links inside an HTML widget open in Safari?
Thanks,
Mike

Those links need to be local the the book, sorry.
As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • How can I forward to an external URL from within a DataAction?

    This is a very simple question I'd guess -- but what I thought was the obvious answer turned out not to be. Keep in mind I am using struts, and the URL is constructed dynamically, so I cannot place a struts forward action in the struts-config.xml file. Here is what I tried from within my DataAction's prepareModel() method:
    actionContext.setActionForward(newURL);
    actionContext.setRedirect(true);
    This didn't work -- nothing happened. Anyone have any ideas?
    Brad

    In our application, we had a forward named Cancel, but for it to work properly we wanted a Redirect to occur to another page. The redirect was not working until we created a new actionforward and set th action forward to it as seen below. You can't programmatically change the forwards at runtime without error, from what I remember.
    DataActionMapping mapping = ctx.getActionMapping();
    ActionForward af = mapping.findForward("Cancel");
    ActionForward afNew = new ActionForward();
    afNew.setPath(ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getSession().getServletContext().getInitParameter("rootURL") + af.getPath());
    afNew.setRedirect(true);
    ctx.setActionForward(afNew);

  • Call external URL from ABAP userexit, capture data and return it to SAP?

    My apologies if this question has been asked before, but I've searched for a few hours today and haven't found anything directly related to my question.  Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide!
    I would like to be able to make a call from an SAP userexit during Sales Order Entry in the VA01 transaction in the SD module to an external website, allow the user to capture some data in the external site and then pass that data back into the userexit where I can use it to populate internal tables, etc.
    I'm completely unfamiliar with Web Dynpro programming, but this seems like a good place to start my search for a solution.
    Does this sound like a problem that can be solved with Web Dynpro and what documentation or code examples should I reference to go about building such a solution.
    I should also note that I'm hoping to build a solution that could be called from any userexit in R/3, SAP ERP, SAP CRM, etc. and would obviously need to learn about what dependencies to consider (ex: SAP GUI version, SAP product release number, Web AS release, etc.).
    Eric

    Thank you for the response.  Let me provide some additional information.
    The external application will be a Hosted Web page.  It is not an SAP system.
    The external application will be a web page served by a separate system outside of the company domain(shouldn't matter what the technology is I would think - but the web page will be hosted by a different company than the one calling the URL) that would appear as a web page in which the user will enter data, logic will be performed on that data and then some or all of the data would need to be passed back to the calling point in SAP.
    For practical discussions it doesn't matter to me if the call in ABAP occurs in an SD userexit, in a custom report, in an HR screen or in a CRM business partner screen.  There will be many places where this external application may be called from and I'm just trying to figure out how to call an external HTTPS URL and return data from that web page to the calling point in ABAP.
    I hope that clarifies my question.
    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

    TIA.

    Brandon, this forum member is known since a long time ago an arrogant (he thinks he knows more than every other) and stupid(*) (full of misconceptions). His first post is a very good example of what I just wrote. How does he dare to suggest to use File
    Explorer, if W8.1 already has a system built for doing just this search?  Do I have to open File Explorer in the folder (or somewhere near) the item I'm looking for? What about the other items in folders above it? This suggestion is stupid(*). He even
    asserts that I'm using Modern UI! I'm not! I'm using the desktop, but his misconceptions make him write such idiocies(*) with such arrogance: asserting what he doesn't know (arrogancy and stupidity). And more, this guy is no one to say he/he/he to me, because
    I know he is what you deleted from my posts, and more, he is often crying, moaning and snivelling like a spoiled child in this forum and messing up any thread posting stupid(*) images of programs imagined/designed/developed by others. All posts from him in
    this thread must be trashed (you should do it). He has nothing to contribute POSITIVELY in this thread, but just to MESS IT UP.
    (*) stupid, I can write, after all, you didn't delete this word from this ... poster.
    Now, look at the first reply: this forum member has no idea how much stupid is his 'work around'. And this 'work around' does not answer my question and even does address the environment I mentioned: W8.1 U1 search results window page, and not File Explorer!
    His second post just reassures me he has no idea what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. He even mentions Win-w(!) which proves he totally ignore what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. A user like this one, must have many monitors to
    keep him busy looking at them, and having excuses for not read and learn technical documentation. It's ignorance about technical aspects of computer issues that makes him post bad bug report and a bad idea in Connect site:
    Using Get-Date -Format "CyM" to work around some bugs
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/884502/using-get-date-format-cym-to-work-around-some-bugs
    Only total ignorance about PowerShell makes someone post such bad 'bug' report. He got critics about his bad post, but I'm sure he doesn't understand.
    Column headers for alias should include DisplayName instead of just Name
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/908152/column-headers-for-alias-should-include-displayname-instead-of-just-name
    In fact, the information displayed is already DisplayName, but this guy has no technical knowledge to understand what is happening.
    These 2 forum members just messed up a thread that should be free of negative contributions, besides off topic.

    Is there any way to link to an external URL from your flash

    the only way around this i've found isn't very useful - you
    have to put a small xml file on the host server where the page you

    Answer
    no it doesn't. getURL() causes no security issues unless you
    try to open the html locally and (try to) access something on the
    internet.
    unless your "flash site" is your local computer there is no
    security issue. if your local computer is an internet server, you
    just need to set the security settings for your local file and give
    it permission to access the internet zone.

  • Navigate to external URL from secured APEX server

    NOTE I am using the internal Oracle APEX server to host my application, so it may be possible that you will have to be an Oracle employee with the same access, or using a similar setup, in order to respond. Even if you are not, if you feel inclined to "take a swing" at it, keep this in mind.
    Hi all,
    I am using the internal APEX server at oracle to host an application (Application Express 4.0.2.00.07). I have other, NON-APEX applications hosted on other servers within the Oracle firewall.
    On page 0 of the APEX application (which, as you may know, usually displays as the "header" section of every other page in the application) I have created a select list of the other projects and their associated URLs as well as a "Go" button, so users that want to navigate to the other applications can do so from this application. Since page 0 does not seem to allow the creation of standard branch items (please correct me otherwise), I have created a process on that page triggered by the "Go" button. The process currently contains the following code:
    begin
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    htp.p('<script language="JavaScript">
    window.open (:P0_PRODUCT_PAGES); <!-- :P0_PRODUCT_PAGES being the URL of the selected non-APEX application -->
    </script>');
    end;
    That code currently replaces the existing page with a blank page and the associated URL is "https://apex.oraclecorp.com/pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept". I am assuming this means that APEX was looking for an application ID and/or page and did not get it so it "stopped" at this page.
    I am unaware if there are any settings on the APEX server, DB,or associated web server preventing me from navigating outside of APEX once I am running the hosted application.
    I would like to launch another properly-sized (default) browser window rather than replace the existing window pointing to the URL for the selected application.
    I have also tried using the owa.util code to try to generate the proper URL but was likewise unsuccessful.
    NOTE: I am not looking for different ways to do this by changing server parameters, settings, etc. since I do not have server rights to do this. Additionally, due to time constraints, I would prefer not to be drawn in to a discussion of the comparisons and/or benefits of owa.util or javascript over the other for navigating to an external URL from within APEX, etc. (I'm not trying to be a "punk", but I AM under the gun to resolve this with very limited time). In light of this, please indicate if you have a working option to do this under similar conditions that I can implement quickly. I have done much research within the forums and Googled extensively for information from outside sources but have not yet found something that will provide the proper results.
    If you are an oracle employee and wish to contact me directly, please email me at [email protected]
    Crossing my fingers and hoping someone has done this before.
    Many thanks in advance; your useful contribution will actually contribute to lessening the world's INSOMINA factor considerably (mostly mine). ;)

    Opening a URL in a new tab or window has to happen in the browser, without submitting the page. The server doesn't know about browser windows. Use:
    onchange="window.open(this.value);" in the HTML Form Element Attributes property of <tt>P0_PRODUCT_PAGES</tt> (making the "Go" button unnecessary), or, if the "Go" button is required to match the LAF:
    onclick="window.open($v('P0_PRODUCT_PAGES'));"in the button Attributes property, ensuring the button is a template button including the <tt>#BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES#</tt> substitution string, e.g.
    <input type="button" value="#LABEL#" #BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES# />Ensure that absolute URLs are used in the <tt>P0_PRODUCT_PAGES</tt> where necessary, specifying the correct scheme for the site, so that you are not trying to go to <tt>{noformat}https://apex.oraclecorp.com/pls/apex/www.google.com{noformat}</tt> for example:
    f?FOO:BAR:&APP_SESSION.    // other APEX app hosted on apex.oraclecorp.com sharing the same authentication scheme
    https://foo.oraclecorp.com // other secured internal site
    http://www.google.com      // unsecured external site

  • Link to an external .js from PDF?

    Using Acrobat 9 Pro, I have a PDF document that I want to link to an external .js file (for SCORM and LMS purposes).  I have imported a multimedia object (swf) into the PDF and it needs to call several Javascript functions.  Instead of copy/pasting each function of Javascript code into each PDF (menu path: Advanced > Document Processing > Document Javascripts), is it possible to write a line of code that links to an external .js file?
    In HTML, it would be someting like <HEAD><SCRIPT type="text/javascript" language="Javascript" SRC="pdf.js"></SCRIPT> </HEAD>.
    Possible?

    Try67, thanks.  You answered my question precisely.
    Of course, I now realize that I asked the wrong question.  Since the PDFs will be accessed via an LMS on a server, I cannot (at least, I don't think I can...need to verify...) use a folder-level script.  I'm pretty sure I need a document-level script.  Now, if that means I have to copy/paste all the functions I need into a document-level script, it would work, but I suspect that becomes a maintenance nightmare down the road if I ever have to update/replace code on each PDF.
    It would be much easier to have a document-level "link" to an external .js file, but I suspect that is impossible based on what I've read in the Acrobat Javascript reference.  Am I wrong?

  • Resuming audio after linking out to a URL

    I am able to link out to a URL and I have chosen  "Stop audio when clicked" on the button properties. My problem is that I cannot get the audio to resume when I return to Captivate except by pressing the play/pause button a couple of time. By this time the text on the screen is no longer in sync with the audio.
    Any advice most welcome. Thanks in advance.

    Hi MMDeaton
    Are you using Captivate 2?
    I don't believe you will be able to do this if the YouTube
    video isn't in .FLV format. The only video format that I've seen
    "embedded" inside Captivate in the manner you are describing is the
    .FLV format. So I suppose you would first need to convert the
    YouTube video to .FLV.
    Assuming it already exists on YouTube in .FLV format and you
    are using Captivate 2, the process should be pretty
    straightforward. You click Insert > Flash Video... and point at
    the URL for the video.
    You link to Web Sites and URLs using either Button or Click
    Box objects. I'm not sure what you meant to imply with your
    statement, as normally you would either position the invisible
    Click Box object over a logical area to be clicked or the Button
    does indeed look like a button they click. Your statement sounds as
    if users are fumbling around without the faintest clue as to what
    to click. If that's the case, they need more visual cues.
    Sincerely... Rick

  • Can you Launch External Applications From Within InDesign Ebook?

    Hi all,
    I was wondering if it is possible to open an external application from within an ebook (created with InDesign) e.g. click on a link and have an external ssh client open up for instance?
    Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Regards,
    RG

    It's possible to include hyperlinks in an InDesign file and export them in an EPUB file. Since I'm not familiar with working with SSH clients (in fact, I just had to Google it to have a clue what you're talking about), is this something that can be invoked in a standard URL format? If so, you could probably include it.
    The next issue is whether the link would work. The link couldn't be used directly in any eBook reader I know of, but at least the iBook on an iPad or iPhone would switch to to Safari to let you follow a URL to its destination. But I don't think that's possible on most eBooks.

  • Clone a Mac Partition to an External Drive from within Windows 7 Bootcamp?

    Anyone know if it is possible to clone the mac os x partition to an external drive from within Windows 7 bootcamp? I (like a few others) had a problem with the latest 10.6.3 update and I cannot boot into the mac partition but I can access it via bootcamp so I was thinking about trying to clone it to an external drive and then boot from the new clone and see if that works.
    Appreciate your comments.

    setup a 30GB partition on an external drive, along with a partition of 150% the size of your Mac OS X volume -- or larger.
    Install OS X to 30GB.
    While booted from DVD, before you install, you'll need to go to Utility Menu => Disk Utility to do the partitoning. While there, in DU see if you can repair your system.
    And where is your TimeMachine or clone backup? The "Step #1: Backup before beginning your Boot Camp project."?
    No way to backup or clone from within Windows, though you may be able to write to NTFS backup volume, UNLESS you bought MacDrive8 which allows read AND write to HFS+ from within Windows.

  • How to call Operating System commands / external programs from within APEX

    Hi,
    Can someone please suggest how to call Operating Systems commands / external programs from within APEX?
    E.g. say I need to run a SQL script on a particular database. SQL script, database name, userid & password everything is available in a table in Oracle. I want to build a utility in APEX where by when I click a button APEX should run the following
    c:\oracle\bin\sqlplusw.exe userud/password@database @script_name.sql
    Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Guys,
    I have reviewed the option of using scheduler and javascript and they do satisfy my requirements PARTIALLY. Any calls to operating system commands through these features will be made on the server where APEX is installed.
    However, here what I am looking at is to call operating systems programs on client machine. For example in my APEX application I have constructed the following strings of commands that needs to be run to execute a change request.
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script1.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script2.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script3.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script4.sql
    What I want is to have a button/link on the APEX screen along with these lines so that when I click that link/button this entire line of command gets executed in the same way it would get executed if I copy and paste this command in the command window of windows.
    Believe me, if I am able to achieve what I intend to do, it is going to save a lot of our DBAs time and effort.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Find out who catches exception from within exception

    Hi,
    I am writing some generic Exception for our project. The aim is to simplify exception handling by making the exceptions log the necessary information with Log4J.
    It seems pretty easy to find out which class actually threw the exception (top of stack trace) but I would much rather like to log the exception in the name of the class that will catch the exception.
    The problem is that the stacktrace (it can be retrieved within an exception as of J2SE 1.4) does not contain information about which class will actually be catching the exception.
    Is there any way to accomplish that? Would be very grateful if someone could point me into the right direction if there is a possibility.
    Thank you very much in advance
    Greets Robbi

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    What I actually really wanted is to log from within the Exception. Right now I am doing this from within the Exceptions constructor.
    I see your point with the constructor being supposed to be lightweight, but in most cases the logging will be turned off and log4J does not take a lot of time to find that out.
    The logging within the catch blocks is what we wanted to circumvent as that would be the same in all catch blocks. Additionally it would be easy to simply change the topmost Exception in our hierarchy to log somewhere else instead.
    Performance is not too crucial on our application, but traceability is, as a lot of money is tied to a single transaction. That is why we decided to for Exceptions to log, as thus even when a developer would forget to log, the exception is still logged.
    Anyway, I thought that it is quite likely not possible to determine who catches an exception from within that exception. I guess the virtual machine wouldn't like to unseal that information. Maybe this is something that might work in a future Java version.
    Thanks for the input anyway.
    Regards Robbi
