Is it possible to print mailing labels from an excel spreadsheet in Macbook pro?

How do you print mailing labels from an excel spreadsheet on a macbook pro? Is it possible. I can only find information about printing labels from your address book.

Why not ask in MacBook Pro forum, or SL, or even MS community or MacTopia.
Office 2011? pretty easy to setup mailing, just click on ribbon tab, and use the built in help.

  • Printing Mailing Labels from Address Book

Stupid question, but one that is driving me crazy.
How do you print a sheet of mailing labels from Address Book but when the entire sheet of labels is the SAME label?
I can print labels successfully in address book, can select the label type and number, etc.
However, when I select a single contact, I can't find a way to print up an entire sheet of labels (e.g. 14) of all the same contact - it only prints one label of the single contact.
Please help! I know it must be a simple fix but can't find it anywhere to select as an option.

OK, weird that this morning (one day after you posted this question) I had the same question. I just want to print some return address labels for my own company. While I haven't been able to find a software based way to do it, I did think up a workable (if a bit ridiculous) hack. Copy the address you want to fill the sheet of labels with however many times there are labels on the sheet and select those however many copies and click print! I created 30 copies of my own company's address in Address Book, selected them, and printed a sheet of labels without problem. A bit dumb, but it works!
    Hope that helps.

  • Print Mailing Labels from Address Book

After following the convoluted rules for Address Book, I finally got my Leopard computer to print Mailing Labels with proper relationships displayed. I upgraded to Snow Leopard and now this is all broken again.
I read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3952 which describes the changes made to Snow Leopard, however for anyone who already put in a lot of work to get labels working correctly for Leopard (or Tiger), this is a major set back.
Not only that, the Snow Leopard method for printing labels breaks so many other uses of Address Book. I will name a few:
    iPhone:
I sync my address book with my iPhone. My buddy calls, now instead of "Bob Smith" displayed on my iPhone, I will see "Bob & Jean Smith" even though the call is from Bob's cell phone....all because I followed the new 10.6 rules to get proper labels printed by 'hacking' the first name field and changing "Bob" to "Bob & Jean".
    Mail:
When I receive and email from Bob, instead of it saying "Bob Smith <[email protected]>" it will display: "Bob & Jean Smith <[email protected]>"
I'm sure there are other examples of how this change will break other apps.
    Solution:
Apple should add a Print option to Address Book with a backwards compatibility checkbox that will include relationships with matching addresses to support 10.4 - 10.5.8 address book printing usage.
If you agree that Apple should add this Print option to add back support for relationship printing, add your voice to this thread, as well as post a bug report to Apple with similar contents.

A vote here for a checkbox in preferences to "include related names," allowing for 10.5 style behavior.

  • How to print mailing labels from my Thunderbird adress book?

I want to print mailing labels, such as Avery 8164, from an address book or a mailing list in my Thunderbird Address Book. How can I do that?

Thunderbird only has the ability to print emails or an address book.
Thunderbird is not the correct software for wanting to perform something like printing labels. You would need to use MSOffice package or OpenOffice.org (free) see link: https://www.openoffice.org/
Using OpenOffice.org Base you can select to connect to an existing database and select Thunderbird Address Book. After saving to a suitable location, you can then use OpenOffice.org Writer.
    File > New > Labels
    select the saved filename.odb database.

  • When printing mailing labels from Contacts how do I change the label size?

I want to print mutliple labels from a group in Contacts. I can print 20 labels per page but I want to print 14. I have tried every option in the pop up window but nothing lets me change the label size,

    Hi 786menzies,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that your print jobs from Photosmart 5520 seems very small.
The font size is controlled by the software program that the document was created in, for example any Microsoft Word document that you send to the printer the font size would have been chosen in Microsoft Word.  I've included two different documents on how to change the print settings; one for Mac and one for Windows 8.  These documents will show you the process on changing print settings if not the actual steps as you may not be using one of the operating systems mentioned.

  • Help...trying to print address labels from an excel document.  I only need info from some of the columns.  Using Avery labels.

Help...I'm trying to print address labels from an existing Excel document that opens fine in Numbers.  I don't want to print everything from the spreadsheet.  The Avery template and site were no help.  Any suggestions?

If you do not need all the excel specific items you can just write it to a spreadsheet using the write to spreadsheet file vi's.
If you want to go the excel route you will have to use active x. you can see a lot of examples on the excel board under the breakpoint forum. please post a sample of how you want your data to look and I can maybe help explain what options you have. and also oyu do not necesarily need the report generation toolkit.

  • Print Mailing Labels from APEX

Hi all, I need to print Avery style (5660) labels from APEX. Has anyone crossed this hurdle? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

    Hi Joe,
We are using BI publisher. THe APEX we are using is configured with the print server settings. I had to install the BI publisher desktop to get my templates to work locally.
So all we had to do was
    * Create a report query from the shared components Tab and export the xml to a specific directory.
    * From MS word, upload this xml. place the data fields and format the layout and then save it as an rtf. (you can preview it there itself in word)
    * create a report layout from the shared components tab and upload this rtf template.
you can specify this template name in the layout item drop down (in the print tab of the report properties - in the page)
or you can call the the report query (url specified in the report query) to call it from a button or branch.
    Hope it helps.

  • Creating mailing labels from an excel worksheet

I have been following the directions using data merge manager. but I only get the first row name in every label on the page. My excel document is a list of names in 1 column. I want to create 1 label for every name. What am I doing wrong?

Well, I cannot be positive about the Mac 2011 version, but I teach Microsoft Office at a community college. If you are using the wizard, you should start from a blank document, select the mail merge wizard. You then tell it the starting document, set up as labels. From there, you would select the Recipients, and from there, you navigate to the file you are going to use, and in this case, an Excel spreadsheet. Here is where it gets a little dodgy. When you select Existing list, can you choose your Excel file? After selecting the Excel sheet, is it prompting about the header row, or is this where you are seeing it ask about the conversion? I know it may look a little different than the Windows document, but it should work rather similar. Hoping I can help you.

  • Epson prints too dark from LR on color managed MacBook Pro?

    Hi all,
I have a newish MacBook Pro, calibrated with Spyder2, and printing to an Epson 2200. The prints are too dark, and don't really come close to matching the screen in LR. I've brought the images into PS2 for soft proofing, but the prints are still far too dark. It's not just out of LR, but DPP as well. I found this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc44027/28
Tthat seems to describe my problem, but it seems to be Adobe-specific. Doug doesn't say if he's tried printing from other apps. I use Epson's custom profiles, which actually seem to be worse than the standard profiles that come with the driver.
A new twist seems to be that profiled jpg images with sRGB profiles exported from LR also print too dark when I had them sent out for printing, which leads me to think that my screen is not profiled correctly, or there's some weird flaw in the Mac's color management engine that skews everything.
My first question: When I profile my screen using Spyder2, I have the brightness set at maximum. Should I bring it down, and if so, how far? The Spyder2 help says use "Factory Defaults", but the MBP ships with brightness set on auto-adjust based on ambient light levels.
My second question: Are there others who have this issue? Have any of you resolved them successfully, and if so, how?
    Thanks!
    Timmy

Time for a reality/sanity check for those who complain that "the "prints are too dark from my Epson printer"!
If you will just reduce your monitor's white-point luminance to the range of 80-90 cd/m2 when you edit your images, it's almost certain that the problem will be solved (assuming you're not making some other error in color management setup). Many people conclude that their problem must be a generic failure or defect of Epson printers (i.e., compared to HP, etc)-- or that the Epson paper profiles are defective. Well, perhaps there's some element of truth to that conclusion--to the extent that Epson printers have evidently been designed with typical professional editing environments in mind (i.e., the low brightness levels to which "serious" printers adjust their monitors and ambient lighting). Why would they do that: Well, who wants to spend many hours each day looking at the glare of a 200 cd/m2 monitor screen (and the reflections from a brighly lighted room)?
So, for getting "monitor-matching" prints from printers such as the SP 2200, you simply need to work (edit) with your images in a more-or-less "dimly lit" room using a monitor that is properly adjusted for such a low-light environment--(i.e., the screen luminance not higher than 90-100 cd/m2). Of course even with such a reduced screen luminance, the light used for print-viewing must be sufficiently bright(**)
It's possible that your monitor cannot be adjusted to the necessary (low) luminance level--or that you haven't any means to measure the luminance level. Those are correctable hardware issues, although may require $$.
(**)please note that a fairly bright viewing light is needed for prints (made as suggested above) to appear to be a reasonably close "match" to the monitor image.

  • Is it possible to swap HDD's from my iMac onto my MacBook Pro?

I currently have an iMac G5 (first gen w/ out the camera on it) that had a 250GB HDD on it but would love to swap it onto my MacBook Pro (first gen aswell) that only has a 80GB HDD. While doing my research, I noticed that they only go up to 200GB 4200-rpm drive. Is this correct? My MacBook Pro is : 1.83 GHz Core Duo. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks in advance.

The drive in the imac is likely to be a 3.5 inch desktop drive so it won't fit in the MBP.
The MBP takes a 2.5 inch sata drive. You can get them up to 250gb and 300gb is near if not already here.
Take a look at www.macsales.com to see what hard drive upgrades are open to you. You don't actually have to buy a drive from them.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I record a voice mail message from our iphone onto my MacBook Pro?

My wife has a few voice mail messages on her iphone from her brother(who passed away). She would like to save these in a safe place where she can listen in the future. Recording these messages on an MP3 player as other have suggested, doesn't give us that permanence, security, easy accessability we are looking for.

I had exported an address book backup: abbu
so since i wrote, i have found my way into the cloud: selected all entries - deleted them all from the cloud.
This wiped out contacts on my iphone and i pad, and MBP, as well as on the cloud.  I then imported the abbu back into my now empty address book.
To repopulate the crowd, i selected all in my address book and created a single card vCard for export to my desktop.  I then dragged that vcard into my empty cloud.  Now my cloud has the same clean contacts as my MBP addressbook.  The cloud then pushed the clean contacts into my empty ipad and iphone contacts.
I had to go back to Address Book>preferences>Accounts and Add an I cloud account - but if you accidentally create a second i cloud account - all of a sudden your address book will duplicate itself.  I quickly reversed it by deleting one of the icloud accounts in my Address Book>preferences>Accounts.
I created a new entry on my MBP and it is now on all devices and in cloud
I also created a new entry on my iPhone and it is now in the address book on my MBP.
    I feel empowered!!
    Have i missed anything??

  • Is there a Template for mailing labels from contact lists

Is t here an app to use contact list to print lmailing labels?

    Hello Jb1947,
I understand that you want to print mailing labels from your Contacts. If your MacBook Pro is running Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), there is a way to print mailing labels directly from the Contacts application. The information you need is located in the following article.
    Contacts (Mavericks): Print contact information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15095
    Print contact information
Select contacts or a group. If contacts in a group have multiple email addresses, street addresses, or phone numbers, you can choose which to print.Select addresses for group members
    Choose File > Print.
Choose the print style from the Style menu, then set related options. If you don’t see the Style menu, click Show Details.
    Mailing labels:
Click Layout and choose a label type from the Page menu. To set page margins, space between labels, and how many labels to print per page, choose Define Custom.Click Label and choose the address to print from the Addresses menu. Set any other Label options.

  • Can Pages Print Mailing Labels?

I have a number of clients that currently use mail merge on their PC's in Office 2003 to print mailing labels. Their biggest issue has been getting this to work painless, as theres always some sort of file compatibility issue or what they see on the screen is not what they get in print form.
Can Pages do a 'mail merge' or similar to print mailing labels easily? Is there any way to print mailing labels from an address book stored on the Mac? If so do you need to manually enter label sizes or is there a list of compatible brand labels (such as Avery) like Word has?
A few of my clients would consider switching over to a Mac if daily tasks like this were more painless then using Office on a PC. You would think after all these years someone would be able to make this simpler.
    PowerMac G3   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Pages 2 can do mail merge using data in Address Book, but it appears to be intended to use in form letters & envelopes & prints one record per page not for printing a page of labels.
But, there is no need to use Pages for the labels. Address Book in Tiger will print labels directly. There are several printing options in the Print dialog - labels, envelopes, lists or pocket address book.

  • Can I print mailing labels with a "The ____ Family" as the name?

I know how to print mailing labels from my contacts, but I would like to be able to print the labels showing only the last name of the person inserted into "The ___ Family" in life of the full name.  Like The Smith Family rather than Bill Smith.  I was able to do this using outlook and my old PC.  As a new Mac user, I have been unable to figure this one out.  Any help would be much appreciated.

It's a piece of junk fore those which are too dumb to read Numbers User Guide and iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide.
I used (and continue to use) AppleWorks for years but when I need a new spreadsheet document, I build it in Numbers whose unique drawback is that it's slow.
Those which took time to search in existing threads know that there are at least two easy ways to create labels with Pages and Numbers.

  • How to Export from Numbers 09 to Address Book or print mailing labels?

I need to know how to export contact information that is part of a Numbers sheet to Address Book and to be able to print mailing labels. I do not have to print from Address Book but do need to produce address labels. I've tried a number of things from the help menus in Numbers 09, Address Book, Word and Excel for MAC 2011. I probably just don't have a grasp fo what I'm supposed to do. Thanks much!

    nushuz,
I can sympathize if you're having trouble following the directions. Address Book will reject what looks like a perfectly good CSV file if it doesn't like the data it finds inside.
Here's what I have found to be the best way to create a CSV from Numbers for Address Book import...
Drag an Address Book contact to a Blank Sheet in Numbers. That's a Sheet in which you have deleted the default table.
This will give you a properly formatted table for conversion to CSV, and you just have to add all your contact data to the table you just created. Before you begin though, it's a good idea to Unhide all Hidden Columns, and there are probably many. Hover over any Column Label and click the menu triangle, selecting "Unhide All Columns", or words to that effect.
After you have all your data situated in the table, Share > Export > CSV and then Import to Address Book.
    Jerry
