Is it possible to set up a script to auto render as new files appear in queue

We have a system that creates images automatically and we need to be able to automatically convert and re-size them and move them to a new location. Some are needed as .gif animations but most are stills.
I can set up a series of comps with the appropriate render queues
Is there a way to trigger a render when new files are written to the project's images folder.
Every day these images would be updated several times. The old images would simply be overwritten.
An additional component would be to stop the warning message that I am about to overwrite an existing file on the render.
Thank you in advance.

When you say "the project's images folder", do you mean a folder in the file system, or a folder in the AE project window?  Although I can't help you with the specifics, I'm pretty sure the former is possible (using scripting at the OS level to trigger an AE script), while the latter is not.

  • Folder Actions script no longer runs on new file creation

Hope this isn't trivial.......first time posting here...hopefully in the right place.I'm not a total Mac OS X newbie...and surely no techie, either. Dabbled a wee bit with Automator and scratchin' my head on this one. Help, please!
Any idea why folder actions not running when a new file is saved? A simple add-color-label script created in Automator was workin' fine before I did a Snow Leopard-to-Leopard downgrade clean-install & account migration from external HD (TimeMachine) backup. Folder actions are enabled and script runs only if I start it with Automator Runner. Previously, it would label the file as soon as I saved it....now it needs a manual start. Is this default behavior in Leopard? Or am I missing something or doin' something wrong? Or is this a consequence of downgrade? I was sure I had the same script workin ok in my original Leopard install - though possibly un-modified at that time.
I have no clue why, but the new version I created recently (cpl wks ago?)worked the first time I added a new file but not thereafter...and in that instance it only labelled the file in Finder upon quitting Preview (file is a Grab saved as pdf).
The reason for the downgrade was compatibility problems with Photoshop CS4 on SL (OS & app all updated yet crashin' at the drop of a hat) - maybe due to lack of RAM? (only 1GB). Saw quite a few posts regarding SL running CS4 problems, so now I'm back to running 10.5.8 ..again.. and PS actually runs smooth like it did before.
Maybe these console messages are a help......or am I barkin' up the wrong tree?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Apologies if this seems long-winded.

Folder Actions are set up a bit differently in Leopard (they use an AppleScript wrapper), and several actions have been updated to use new technologies available in Snow Leopard.  Looking at some of your console logs, it looks like some actions or workflows were just copied over from Snow Leopard.  When changing versions like that, you should rebuild the workflows so that they link to the correct actions, and check added actions for any dependencies (an action won't be loaded if it requires resources that are not available).
Resaving your Folder Action workflow as a Folder Action Plug-in should do the trick.

  • Custom dDocTitle set value by Script, is possible ?

    Hi to all,
I will like to know if is possible to set the dDocTitle by script, I tried the following code:
    <$var_01 = "Hola"$>
    <$var_02 = "_Mundo"$>
    <$titulo = var_01$ & var_02$>
    <$dDocTitle = titulo$>
this code was set in a rule and defined to the field dDocTitle in the user default value option when the field is added to the rule
    Oracle Content server version 10g
    tnks

It sounds like you want to use a default or derived attribute value.
You set these in rules, which are applied via profiles.

  • Need help setting up measurementLog scripting

I'm gruadually getting better at creating script but for some reason I can't get my brain around this one.  I'm trying to set up a script to take measurements of a series of 64 marquees created from an equal number of paths then export that log after the 64th marquee dimension is recorded.  So I"m making a selection from path, recording it's width and height, performing some operations, saving a file, making a new selection from the next path, and repeat.  Ideally I'd like to also record the location of the upper lefthand corner of each marquee at the same time.  I figure one challenge at a time.
Part of the confusion is the Object Model Viewer and support PDF's are saying one part of the process is accessed from the Application and another is accessed from the Document.  I'm not sure how that would look or what should come first.  Also I've not entirely got my brain around using file path locations in script and how to set those up so that they're universal between Mac and Windows.
All this combined is causing too many possible reasons for the dreaded ESTK "Undefined is not an object" error so I can't narrow down the reason for my test script failing.  I'm certain if I see the correct way once it'll all make sense, the clouds will part, angels will sing and all will be right... until the next hurdle or the conditions change slightly.
    Please help!  Thanks!
P.S. I can post my script this is going into if it'll help.  It's a mixture of my stuff, with a Frankensteined mish-mash of contributions I've gotten from others along the way.

Getting an answer at PS-scripts.  Feel free to post anyway if  you desire.  thanks!  Extra info is always good.

  • Setting up additional script directories

Hi - I work for a company with a sizeable number of texture artists. I've been creating a set of photoshop helper scripts for them to use, and I'm trying to figure out how to get photoshop to detect it automatically.
The way that I see noted all over the Internet is to simply put the .jsx script into the Presets\Scripts directory. While this does work, it's unwieldy in our environment (specifically, it requires me to tell the texture artists that there's an update and have them copy the scripts into the folder, which is a recipe for out-of-sync scripts and sadness).
Ideally, I'd like to be able to simply check the files in to our source control (at, say, OURPROJECT\art\photoshopscripts\*.jsx) and somehow tell Photoshop to also load scripts from that location, so that it would always be loading the scripts without any manual copying involved by the art teams.
Is such a thing possible? Bonus points if it can be done via an environment variable.
    Thanks!
    Josh

On a Windows System I do it by adding a link(Windows Shortcut) to my Script tree into Adobe Photshop Install tree folder "C:\Program Files\psVersion\Presets\Scripts". Warning on a windows 7 64 system do not build you Script tree in Windows   C:\Program Files\  Tree if you use both the 64bit and 32bit Photoshop versions.   For when you run the 32 bit version of Photoshop even though the shortcut you added is to C;\Program Files\xxx something in the system substitutes "Program Files (x86)".
I have never tried using a network drive. I think it would work however using a remote disk may very well slow down Photoshop's start up process. Photoshop seems to process the Script tree during start up.  It creates a script list it displays when one uses menu File>Scripts and It also look at the scripts to see if any are Plug-in scripts like Conditional Mode Change and Fit Image.  If you have alot of scripts that a lot of network trafic each time Photoshop is started by someone.  I think you would be better off find a process to push|Pull updates onto users machines,  Photoshop seems to pick up the changes that are made to scripts when its running. Running from a local disk would also be better for performance. However Plug-in scripts may not work if updated and there was a change made to its dialog t which change deleted or added setting.
Photoshop can use script from any folder but only scripts in Photoshop Presets\scripts tree including following links. Will be listed in menu File>Scripts. Links must be present when Photoshop starts for script to be included into Photoshops script list. Note also some scripts like plug-in scripts get listed in menu File>Automate.  Othere scripts can be browsed to or be execute from actions the have their browsed to location recorded into the action. Actions are not loaded automaticly and not automaticly updated when shared by users. A copy is use fow when a User loads an Action set a copy is made into ther Photoshop Preferences. Id a Action ises a script the script is not copied the action only has its name or Full path recorded in the action not the script itself.

  • RE: Is it possible to set 2 commands to 1 keyboard shortcut

I am wondering if it is possible to set  2 commands to 1 keyboard shortcut.
I have a script that saves copies of InDesign pages to the desktop. I would love to set the keyboard shortcut for this script to be the same as the Save shortcut (Command S), which saves the InDesign pages into our content management system. However, I can't seem to get this to work.
    Any suggestions?

No, you cannot get a kbsc to do two things at the same time.
But…you can set it run a script.

  • Possible to run a photoshop script by selecting files in Bridge?

    Hi,
I have a good script I've written that I always used to run from Photoshop. The script has a dialog box which asks where to get the files from. Is it possible to select files in bridge and run the script from there? Without rewriting it for Bridge?
    Thanks,
    Stan

    > I have a good script I've written that I always used to run from Photoshop. The script has a dialog box which asks where to get the files from. Is it possible to select files in bridge and run the script from there? Without rewriting it for Bridge?
Yes, this is possible. However, a much easier solution is to select the files in
Bridge then switch to PS manually to run your script. It avoids having to having
to write any code to run in Bridge at the cost of not having seamless integration.
In xtools/xlib/XBridgeTalk.jsx I have a set of functions that simplify working
with Bridge from within PS. For instance:
    var files = XBridgeTalk.getBridgeSelection();
will return an array of Files that are currently selected in Bridge. If Bridge
isn't running or if no files are selected it returns an empty array.

  • Is it possible to set BIOS settings over a command line?

    Hi,
is there a possibility to set Toshiba BIOS settings over a command line tool?
We have hundreds of Toshiba Notebooks and would like to activate Wake On Lan.
I know there is hwsetup, but as far as I know this GUI doesn't accept parameters...
We would like to propagate new settings over a script.
    Any solution for this ?
    Thanx

    > is there a possibility to set Toshiba BIOS settings over a command line tool?
Something like that is not known to me and I doubt this could be possible.
As you said there is an preinstalled Toshiba HWSetup tool which can be used to change some certain BIOS settings. But this is only one way to change the BIOS settings from the Windows OS.

  • Is it possible to run one ud script to update parms for multiple servers...

Is it possible to run one ud script to update certain parameters in mib for multiple
servers by giving multiple occurrences of the parameter and server id. I tried
a ud script as follows and it seem to update the parameter for only the first
    server.
    SRVCNM .MIB
    TA_CLASS T_SERVER
    TA_OPERATION SET
    TA_SRVID 101
    TA_SRVID 102
    TA_SRVID 103
    TA_CLOPT -A -r -e srv1.err --
    TA_CLOPT -A -r -e srv2.err --
    TA_CLOPT -A -r -e srv3.err --

From the ud's output, it looks like it used only one occurrence of the fields that
    I provided.

  • Max. heap size - possibility to set in jar file ?

    Hi everybody,
    my first question ;-)
I used java webstart for a while to roll out my software to 2 other colleagues. There was a possibility to set the starting and maximum heap size via the jnlp file. Recently I switched my "deployment process" to a simple jar file. I looked through the jar docs and googled a bit until I found this in the [bug database|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4682105]
    and especially:
When jar file is read the maximum heap size is already set.
It is not feasible to introduce this feature.
So the only way to do this is using a script ?
Thanks in advance and enjoy your day,
    Michael

Thanks for your quick and economic response.
Another way would be to use a tool like Launch4j which builds an exe file. Until now I have not been a friend of exe files for java programs. Since my application is only used in Windows environment I will have to rethink this opinion.

  • Disk Utility: Is it possible to set volumes NOT to mount at start UP?

Is it possible to set up volumes so that they do not automount on start up (all disk utilities I have used before (Hard Dsk Tool Kit, Silverlining) have this capability)?
If so can you explain how to do it?

To prevent their eDrive from mounting, Micromat uses a script that runs during the launch process to dismount the eDrive. So the drive/volume is actually mounted for a few seconds and then dismounted by a Unix command in the script.
If you will open Terminal and type "man unmount" you will find how to use the unmount command to dismount a volume which is likely what Micromat uses in their script.

  • Is it possible to set quota or events expiration preferences ?

Is it possible to set quota or events expiration preferences?
    <P>
There are admin tools that can go into calendars and delete events over a
range of time. There is no automatic way to do this with iCS 2.x. You would
have to write a script to run periodically, loop through all calendars, and
delete events that are considered "old".
    <P>
There are no quotas in iCS 2.x.
    <P>
The admin tools can list calendars for a user. Once you know the calendar, there
are admin tools that can list events, etc. There is also an admin tool to list
    the total disk usage.

    this may be impossible.

  • Is it possible to set the project selection?

The scripting guide tells me app.project.selection is read-only, so this might be a stupid question.  But I could swear I ran across a script recently that was able to select items in the project window (yes, it would be helpful if I could remember which script does this).  I'm hoping to write a script that will select in the project window all the comps that are queued for render.  Is it even possible to set the selection?

Paul Tuersley over at aenhancers came up with the answer:
    http://www.aenhancers.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1374&p=5243#p5243
You add and remove items from the project selection by setting the item's .selected flag.

  • Hi I have two questions. I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users? How is the session timeout set? Thanks, YS

<i>I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users?</i>
Um, there is no such thing as NAS4.1.
I'm assuming that you mean NAS4.0 (maybe NAS4.0sp1?). If so, then the session timeouts are specified in the session section of the NTV configuration files.
AFAIK, you can specify session timeouts on a per user basis.
