Document type description field
Hi Gurus,
While defining the New Document Type in customisation,In Doc. type desc field it allows me to enter only 20characters.
Is there any settings to be done to allow more than 20characters.
If yes pls let me know..

There is no facility to provide long test for the description ti Document Type in Customizing.
by logic its just a short Description of Doc Type.So why a long test is required?
So if you mean short description then there is no point in giving Long description.
Yes but when you are creating a DIR ( Document) you can give long description to the document number
as this is must required to as per Business Process Requirement.
If anwer is Usefull Please grant me the points.

How can I use Document Set description field in a SharePoint workflow
We bundle together related documents into a Document Set and then route the Document Set for approval using a Sharepoint 2010 workflow. Within the workflow, we are also sending an email to each approver, and an email to a manager if items become past
due. I have been asked if I can add the Description field from the Document Set to the email text.
I am familiar with the use of the "Add or Change Lookup" control to insert fields into the email text.
For example: Data Source "Current Item" with field "Title" becomes
[%Current Item:Title%].
The problem is that I can't find a data source that will pull in the Document Set description.

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use Document Set description field in a SharePoint workflow.
I recommend to modify the view to display the description field.
If you add the description, it will display the value.

In billing document type controlling fields one field which indicates "credit memo w/val dat".

Credit memo with value date
If the field "Credit memo with value date" is set, the reference billing document is not settled and the payment deadline date for the base billing document comes after the billing date for the credit memo, then field VALDT (fixed value date) in the credit memo request is filled with the payment deadline baseline date of the base billing document.
This does not happen if the payment deadline date of the reference billing document comes before the current billing date of the credit memo.

ME21N Document type wise Field selection
While creating the PO, in ME21N screen, i am have 5 different document types for Document type ZNB3 i want to make Account assignment category as mandatory and also the enduser have to select K(Compulsary).
Is it possible to set acc *** category K as default for ZNB3 document type..or otherwise this field should be made mandatory only for this ZNB3 Document type

First make the Acc ***. category as mandatory field in SPRO->MM->PUR->Purchase Order->Define Screen Layout at Document Level.
Please note that, for Standard PO field selection key is NBF which is set id Doc type level in SPRO->MM->PUR->Purchase Order->Define Document Types. In your case, create a new field Selection key and assign it in the doc. type.
If you want to default the value as K, just assign K in ME21N Personal Settings.
If you want to restrict only K, configure Allowed combinations for Acc. ***. category and item category in OMG0 -
Is it possible to sort document using Description field?
In a specific folder you can sort documents by "Name", "Size" and "Last modified" fields. does anyone know how to enable the sort by "Description"?

NadiaI will give you 2 answers since I am not sure exactly how your report runs.
Lets say your users choose a couple parameters to limit certain columns by in your where clause. In this case, you would want to just create a user parameter, and use that parameter in the where clause.

start_date between :P_START_DATE and :P_END_DATEPretty simple. Now here is how I would do it if those are optional parameters, and the user could enter a value, or could leave all blank.

where job_id = nvl(:P_JOB_ID, job_id) and
start_date between nvl(:P_START_DATE, start_date) and
nvl(:P_END_DATE, end_date)If its null, it will set the column equal to each other, and will return all the rows (good little trick).
The other case is if you need a different select/where clause entirely based on what the user sends in. For example, lets say you have 2 entirely different queries based on a certain parameter. Then you'd want to use lexical parameters and an after parameter trigger.
I think you are looking for the first scenario, so try that and post back if you are looking for something different -

If you have the sales document number VBELN then pass this VBELN in to table VBAK and you can get the sales document type VBAK-AUART.
Now pass the same VBELN to VBAP table here you can get the Profit Center VBAP-PRCTR
For sales Document type description you pass the VBAK-AUART values into table TVAKT table and get the values for TVAKT-BEZEI is you sales document type description
For Profit center description goto table CEPCT and enter the profit center you will get the
KTEXT
LTEXT
MCTXT

In this step, you create Document Type for categorize documents according to the organizational procedures.
Supppose u define ZAD
Document Type The document type is used to categorize documents according to the organizational procedures. E.g. in company, there exists many departments for which separate document types have been created. For example, ZAD,ZCB,ZCD etc Document type is a three digit alphanumeric field.
Document Type Description Description appears in the screen heading when document info record is being processed.
Use Kpro Indicator controls that the original files are stored in defined content repository via Knowledge Provider.
Assignment of Revision Level This indicator shows that a revision level is automatically assigned to a document the first time the document is released with reference to a change number.
CM Relevance u2018 u2018 u2013 Not Relevant for Configuration Management
u20181u2019 u2013 Relevant for Configuration Management
Determines whether Configuration Management controls the object.
Number Exit MCDOKZNR Program that controls number assignment and version numbering for documents.

Hi,
When user creating PO and goods receipt ,he doesnot getting po document type description(in MIGO also) ,only he is getting po document type in header as NB (it shoulb be NB Stadards po). I have checked in options and expert tab also ,still issue not yet resolved.plz advise soon.

Follow the steps to have value like NB Standard PO:
Go to ME21N screen, in Standard toolbar click
Customize Local layout (Alt + F12) - >Option- >Expert--- > (select check box) of Show Keys in All Dropdown lists --- > apply --- > Ok
Now go to ME21N screen, you will have NB Standard PO instead of NB

Purchasing screen field selection is controlled by the linkage between Document type and Field selection key assigned to that Document type e.g. for NB its NBF so if you want a choose the Fields as per your records then try
SPRO => MM => Purchasing => define field selection groups for purchasing...
here you can maintain your fields Suppressed, mandatory or optional...

Default Layout by PR Document Type
I am trying to define different layouts based on different PR document types. I noticed there are two fields when defining a new document type.
Field Selection
Layout
I have been able to use the Field Selection option to control what is available on the screen, but not the sequence the fields are in. I am not sure how the Layout field is suppose to work, but I entered the Variant I created on ME51N, but it didn't work.
Any help or clarification on the Layout field would be much appreciated.Bradley E...you had asked in one of your post about the purpose of the layout field on field selection. Did you ever get an answer on this? We have a value of SRV in that field and I'm wondering what it means (and what will happen if I remove it.) I'm trying to figure out why our validity dates aren't coming up anymore on framework PRs and I think it might have to do with this layout field.

If you have the sales document number VBELN then pass this VBELN in to table VBAK and you can get the sales document type VBAK-AUART.
Now pass the same VBELN to VBAP table here you can get the Profit Center VBAP-PRCTR
For sales Document type description you pass the VBAK-AUART values into table TVAKT table and get the values for TVAKT-BEZEI is you sales document type description
For Profit center description goto table CEPCT and enter the profit center you will get the

In the vf03 , i should be able to see Document type and Description ,?
When i go to VF03 i need to display not only description of Document type like " Customer Invoice" but i want to display what is the Docuement type also along with that ex "F2" . How to achieve this?

Make material as a mandatory field for a particular document type in PR
Hi,
Currently we are in SAP 4.6c version. There is a business requirement for making material as a mandatory field for a particular document type of purchase requisition as they don't want the user to raise non material purchase requisition using that document type. The field for material is currently not available in the configuration for Define Screen Layout at Document Level for purchase requisition.
So could you kindly let me know the possible options to prevent user from raising a non material purchase requisition using that document type. If not could you kindly suggest me the user exits available at the time of saving purchase requisition which i could use so that we can write a code to check if the material number is entered or not. If not entered prevent the user from saving the purchase requisitions.
Also it would be helpful if you could let me know how the fields for enjoy transaction (like material,document type) can be made available for selection in the configuration for Defile Screen Layout at Document Level for purchase requisition.
All you help in the solving the above problem is highly appreciated.

Check below method works out for you, if you do not want to proceed with any ABAP development.
Have a custom field selection key with Material Description field as "Mandatory" and "Display" in Basic Data, Item selection group.
Assign this to your PR document type which need material as mandatory. With this you are making user to enter material indirectly as mandatory & user will not have an option of entering text which avoids indirect / service procurement.
"Material Group" option won't help as User can have default settings with some value and it updates even in display mode of field.

Quantity field not getting displayed for all document types
Hi,
I have made a configuration to include field Quantity(BSEG-MENGE) in the GL account line item display.When I ran the report for stock adjustment account(FAGLL03), only the following document types are showing quantity against them.
WI- Inventory document
WA-Goods Issue
WE---Not showing quantity against (WE- Goods Receipt)
Can any one please explain. I have seen the original document from FI document. The original document as well as FI document carries quantity.

Check SAP notes 1063198 and 1117587.
FAGLL03 display quantity which is updated in FAGLFLEXA, BSEG is not
relevant in this case. This is clearly explained in the note 1063198.
The quantity posts through to FI on the 'goods receipt' items, but not on the
'invoice receipt' items.
In the FI normally the Quantity is not a 'real' important field, as it
is more related to the MM area.
But in the old 'Profit Center Accounting' and the old' Special Ledger'
the field has been important.
As the same logic of these areas to 'store' the Quantity is also used
in the NewG/L the field get only filled in the line, where it make
'sense' from our point of view, because only in the 'goods receipt'
lines a 'real' Quantity is posted to the system.
So as before in the PCA and SL, now also in the NewG/L the Quantity is
filled in the correct and important lines and postings.
In the BSEG ('old document segment table') the field is filled 'just'
as it is send to the FI, but this is not completely correct from the
business point of view.
This can also lead to issues with the reporting and summation to this
field. So with creating the new logic in the NewG/L the 'correct'
standard of the 'writing' for the Quantity has also been taken over.
So in the end, the update and display is correct according SAP standard behavior.
Actually,Quantities within G/L are never reliable,
because the purpose of FI is a view on the data according to amount
but not according to quantity.
In the FI normally the Quantity is not a 'real' important field, as it
is more related to the MM area.
