Is it possible to track web services call ?
Hi,
I have a Tomcat application server exposing web services; I have a client that accesses those web services using apache axis. More deeply, from client I do something like:
Service service = new Service();
Call call = (Call) service.createCall();
call.setTargetEndpointAddress(url);
call.setOperationName(methodName);
call.setUsername(userName);
call.setPassword(password);
Object o = call.invoke(args);I would like to log, for each call, some sort of "unique identifier of the call", both client side and server side.
How can I do this ?
Any help would be very appreciated!
Pietro
I think one of the ways to implement such thing, is to add some identifier parameter to header of soap message. For example when client calls service you change that identifier on your server and store it somewhere for example in some static field. And you add this parameter to your response SOAP message header so client side can get it.

System processes needed for web service call
Hi experts,
one theoretical question: how about the system processes needed for a web service call? If have created a test service that does nothing except to wait for 10 seconds. When I call it from outside, no extra process is busy (as seen in trx SM50). Is it possible that one web service call (from outside -> SAP machine) does not need a DIA or BTC process on SAP machine?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Kind regards, MatthiasHi,
Of course a web service needs a dialog workprocess to run.
But if you used the "wait" abap instruction, it may be that this instruction frees the work process ?

Is it possible to make synchronous web service calls?
Hi all,
Is it possoble to get a web service call to block and wait
for a response rather than doing it asynchronously using
flex/action script?

In support of the flash player's design I'm going to have to
disagree with you here. It is completely normal in any multi
threaded environment to make all functionality non blocking by
default. Blocking by design can be implemented with semaphores, and
is not a hack. To implement simply create a flag such as
'hold:bool' init it to false when your application starts. Set it
to true just before the web services send() method is called. In
the result handler you set it back to false.
In this way you have complete control over what should be
blocked and what should not be blocked, by simply testing the
'hold' semaphore. In this way the GUI itself, and all non dependent
functionality stays alive. A timeout value would arbitrarily block
all functionality for a fixed amount of time if the request was
never filled. Although a semaphore could be used to do this as
well, it has far more flexibility, and users have notoriously
shorter timeout values than developers.

Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16
Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16
I need to make wsdl web service call in my weblogic app server. The web service is provided by a 3rd party vendor. I keep getting error
Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found
Certificate chain received from ws-eq.demo.xxx.com - xx.xxx.xxx.156 was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure
Validation error = 16
From the SSL debug log, I can see 3 verisign hierarchy certs are correctly loaded (see 3 lines in the log message starting with “adding as trusted cert”). But somehow after first handshake, I got error “Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found”.
Here is how I load trustStore and keyStore in my java program:
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore",”cacerts”);
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", trustKeyPasswd);
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","JKS");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","JKS");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStoreName);
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword",clientCertPwd); System.setProperty("com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump","true");
Here is how I create cacerts using verisign hierarchy certs (in this order)
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignClass3G5PCA3Root.txt -alias "Verisign Class3 G5P CA3 Root"
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediatePrimary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Primary"
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediateSecondary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Secondary"
Because my program is a weblogic app server, when I start the program, I have java command line options set as:
-Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore=SSLTrust.jks
-Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
-Dweblogic.security.SSL.enforceConstraints=strong
That SSLTrust.jks is the trust certificate from our web server which sits on a different box. In our config.xml file, we also refer to the SSLTrust.jks file when we bring up the weblogic app server.
In addition, we have working logic to use some other wsdl web services from the same vendor on the same SOAP server. In the working web service call flows, we use clientgen to create client stub, and use SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter to load trustStore and keyStore, and then bind the SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the webSerive client object and make the webservie call. For the new wsdl file, I am told to use wsimport to create client stub. In the client code created, I don’t see any way that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the client object, so I have to load certs by settting system pramaters. Here I attached the the wsdl file.
I have read many articles. It seems as long as I can install the verisign certs correctly to web logic server, I should have fixed the problem. Now the questions are:
1. Do I create “cacerts” the correct order with right keeltool options?
2. Since command line option “-Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore” is used for web server jks certificate, will that cause any problem for me?
3. Is it possible to use wsimport to generate client stub that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to it?
4. Do I need to put the “cacerts” to some specific weblogic directory?

The how to guide is :
-Download the wsdl file (with bindings, not the one from ESR)
-Correct it in order that the schema corresponds to the answer (remove minOccurs or other things like this)
-Deploy the wsdl file on you a server (java web project for exemple). you can deploy on your local
-Create a new logicial destination that point to the wsdl file modified
-Change the metadata destination in your web dynpro project for the corresponding model and keep the execution desitnation as before.
Then the received data is check by the metadata logical destination but the data is retrieved from the correct server. -
Setting the attachment name in web service call scheduleReport
Hi there,
I searched the forum for this, found lots of threads but no useful solution...
I am using BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 and I need to send a PDF report by email using its web service functionality. This works fine but the report is attached as "attachment.pdf" which is far from ideal. Is it possible to specify what the attachment should be called (e.g. "veryimportantreport.pdf")
See below an example of the web service call I am doing.
Thanks

We are using BIP to generate reports from Apex and it works very well, except for this small detail.
By the way, you sound very sure; are you related to Oracle in any way (I mean, is this an "official" answer)? I can't tell from your profile...

Initiating BPM Process Instances from External Web Service Call
I'm attempting to update the HelloWorld example so that I can create an instance of the process from an External Web Services Call rather than via the Workspace. Our current SOA Architecture is configured so that all BPM instances are managed through a .NET SmartClient via the Service Bus and the use of PAPI W/S and so I'm wishing to recreate this capability in the new BPM.
I understand the replacement for PAPI W/S is Human Workflow so I've therefore updated and republished the HelloWorld Example with an Exposed 'TaskService' Service for the Human Task within the BPM Process.
I've then attempted to reference the TaskService through our existing BPM, and have been able to import a number of generic WSDL's as follows:
Task Service
http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskService/TaskServicePort?WSDL
Task Metadata Service
http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskMetadataService/TaskMetadataServicePort?WSDL
Task Query Service
http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskQueryService/TaskQueryService?WSDL
When I examine the available operations for these generic services, there are quite a lot, each of which have a fairly complex schema. I believe I should be using the TaskService: InitiateTask Operation to create an instance of my BPM Process but my questions are:
- Is the above the correct method of interacting with BPM Instances from an external system such as the Service Bus?
- Does anyone have any examples of a basic XML payload that would initiate a process instance?I created an process with a message start event and can call it from an external web service call. I can also pass input arguments and map those to process data objects. However I can not find how to return data as response to the external web service call as e.g. the process instance id.
Is it possible to this?

Web Service call from VB Macros & web service for logging in
Hi All,
Is it possible to call a SAP web services from a Visual Basic macro?
1) If yes, how to do so?
2) Is there a standard web service through which we can login to an R/3 system?
3) Once we are logged in can we call other web services?
Thanks in advance!!
Regards,
SaurabhHi Saurabh,
ad 1) It is possible. In this Excel to SAP R/3 I posted some examples on how to call webservices from within Office 2003 applications.
The posts are very detailed, I just didn't create a blog since feedback to scripting languages blogs is so low that I didn't find it worth to carefully author a blog.
ad 2) Web service calls are stateless so you have to authenticate each time you call a service. Either by single sign on mechanisms or by simply hardcoding the credentials.
hope it helps,

Asynchronous web service call using PL/SQL
Hi Guys,
i'm using Apex 4.1.
Is that possible to invoke a web service asynchronously within PL/SQL code block ? If so,
How can i access the return value of the service when execution of that web service completes ?Bolev wrote:
We have (Oracle 10g) automated process (ETL) based on internal data. Now there is an offer to incorporate existing web service call (let's say for additional record verification) in this process. Service call (I do not know what type of it yet) is using data from remote database which is not ours.Web service calls from PL/SQL is not that complex. You can use the standard UTL_HTTP package as shown in {message:id=4205205}.
I never heard anybody goes this way especially for ETL processes.Well, if you push a million rows through the ETL process and the call overhead for the web service call (assuming perfect network and web server response) is 1 sec, that translates into 277+ hours of runtime alone for the validation to be done via web service.
So yeah - it would seem kind of silly to use something like a web service to validate large volumes ETL data. -
Hi All
I am working on 12.2.3 build 165. I am trying to call web service dynamically providing url at the run time..
I tried using wizard way- giving url, then selecting operation and it works fine. But is it possible to give url as input at run time... I have tried giving no. of inputs at run time but none worked. Pls guide in detail if this is possible.
thanking you all , taranumHello Nagaraju,
I need to create a dynamic Webservice call for my application.
As you mentioned on above I passed the following with link editor in Web service call,
1. WSDL Base URL
2. WSDL URL
3. Opertaion
but its showing the following error
com.sap.lhcommon.webservice.SoapOperation.getInputMessage() of an object loaded from local variable 'oper'
Am i missing any mandatory field value to pass to Webservice call ?
how can I pass XML input at run time to the request object in this scenario ?
Here I'm using this as a common transaction, so multiple transaction can use it to post to Web sphere.
Looking forward for your assistance.
I need to pass wsdl's dynamically, So can I pass Input XML to request object in linke editor ?

Web services call directly from SAP ?
Hi ESA Experts,
Is it possible to make a web service call directly from a SRM or SAP R3 system without using SAP XI ?. If so, have you some code samples ?
Thanks a lot for your response.
Best regards
EtienneHi, Etienne.
There are two things to do.
1. Prepare Service Provider
For providing services, there are many tools to publish as web services
from BAPI, RFC and Enterprise Services.
Please look at here.
help.sap.com - Web Service Toolset
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/db/99c04ba22fe64f96a8651df68eab92/frameset.htm
i recommend Web Service Creation Wizard as first step.
2. Prepare Service Consumer
Also has many tools. What i like is WS Navigator for basic test of web services.
help.sap.com - Web Service Homepage

Syncronous web service call through B2B
Hi There,
I am trying to do a synchronous web service call through the B2B component. Is this possible? Has anybody got this working?Ok the process flow is as follows (or at least how I anticipate it):
external party (HTTP) -> B2B (httpReceiver) -> Callout (HTTP) -> OSB -> sync reply -> B2B -> external party
I have read the section you mentioned, but was hoping to see a XML snippet of the xml posted to the httpReceiver endpoint... I have tried adding those values in the soap:header section, no effect, also tried adding it to the soap:body section and adding the payload in the payload tag, which I assume should be the correct way...
So in other words should the payload message I post to this URL have the following layout:
<soap:Envelope xmlns.....>
<soap:Header/>
<soap:Body>
<to>MyCompany</to>
<from>extCompany</from>
<documentProtocolVersion>1.0</documentProtocolVersion>
<documentTypeName>order</documentTypeName>
<payload><...payload goes here....></payload>
</soap:Body>

Web Services call from SOA to BI Publisher
Hi,
I have never worked on this web service call from SOA to BI Publisher funcationality and I am strugulling to understand on how this woks.
My requirement is that SOA will call BI Publisher on a parameter basis eg( some id) to a report and BI publisher should pick that id and execute the report and place the PDF file (file name is combination of id and date) into specific location in the FTP server and in return BI Publisher should send the response to SOA defining the file name and location of the FTP server.
Can anyone please help on this. This is a big sore on my head.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
ApkThanks for your replies.
Actually I am working on Forms 6i version , so does same solution works on Forms 6i as well.
Also this application is for address search, so user provides for some key like PostCode etc and then call the Webservice and it will give you list of options.
Now user will choose and confirm one address.
Do all this interaction possible using UTL_HTTP?
After going through link provided , I need to implemented in following steps:-
1) Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 Create a SOAP_REQUEST.
2)Create a wrapper program who calls Web Service.
3) Call this Wrapper Program from our form and PL/SQL Package.
Please let me know if this sounds OK.
Thanks a Ton,

How can I use web service call for edit a report with SSRS in Java Struts2 web application
Hello im new in SSRS technologie and I would like make web service call at my SSRS server. Is sombody can help me ?
- What API should I import in my project ? I use Maven can I found this API on Maven repository ?
- I would like have an sample of code which initialize the ReportingService, do the call and process result.
We use the SQL Server ReportingService 2008 R2 and currently we made HTTP call like this : http://<ssr_server>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fSSRS_OMB%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&MyParam=<value>
RegardsHi ombinte,
SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. Because the Report Server Web service is an XML Web service which uses Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer
Protocol (HTTP), any SOAP-aware application or development tool can communicate with the SSRS web service.
There are three primary ways to develop Reporting Services applications based on the Web service, please see:
Develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.
Develop applications using the rs utility (RS.exe), the Reporting Services script environment.
Develop applications using any SOAP-enabled set of development tools.
For more information about Report Server Web Service, you can refer to the following document:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152787.aspx
Hope this helps.

SivaYour business logic has to be implemented by using OIM APIS. oimclient.jar..
you can then expose these business functions accordingly using a webservice or rest ...
for business logic refer:-
