Is it possible to trigger a popup from f:selectItem

I have a use case, where I have a dropdown (selectOneChoice), which shows a list of existing oracle homes, and last label gives the user an option of 'create new location'.
I tried something like below:
<af:selectOneChoice id="ohSelector">
<f:selectItems value="#{row.candidateHomes}"/>
<f:selectItem id="selectNewHomeItem"
itemLabel="#{patchAutoUiBundle.CLONE_CREATE_NEW_LOCATION}">
<af:showPopupBehavior triggerType="click" popupId="::createNewOhPopup"/>
</f:selectItem>
</af:selectOneChoice>
now I see an error shown in jdev, that af:showPopupBehavior is not expected here.
Also I don't see separate event listener for a selectItem.
Is it mendatory, that all selectItem should have same action listener

Hi,
Welcome to OTN.
You can use af:inputComboboxListOfValues instead of af:selectOneChoice. In af:inputComboboxListOfValues, you add custom action (say create) and specify the popup for it.

    Is i possible to trigger a workflow from the creation of an event in iCal
    Or is is possible to create a workflow to ad events to an iCal calendar which then triggers the workflow or is combined with the ad events workflow.
    Graeme

    Hmm, nope. Not that I'm aware of. Very few apps allow you to hook scripts directly to user activity. Finder* is a notable exception. iCal's "publish" feature has the ability to auto-update after user activity, but you'll either need dot mac accounts or your own webdav server to get that working.
    I'd re-consider the idea of triggering a periodic workflow with iCal. That way if the computer is shut down or asleep, iCal will wait to run the workflow at its next opportunity. You could hide the unsightly repeating events in a second calendar so they're out of the way.
    The next best thing is to write a faceless AppleScript application with a long-duration idle handler. The user would simply add it to their login items in System Preferences. This would also resume its cycle after sleep or shutdown.
    Yet another option is to write an AppleScript that can register itself in the crontab. This has the advantage of running at a predictable time. If you're careful, you can even set the script to wake up or power on the computer as necessary.
    * Folder action scripts can be triggered when files are created, moved, or deleted, but not when they're merely updated. This probably rules out much of iCal's activities in ~/library/application support/ical/.

  • Is it possible to disable some popups from FEP Client on the desktop. But how to disable popups from real time protection

    Is it possible to disable some popups from FEP Client on the desktop. But how to disable popups from real time protection. This is so that end users who are non technical are not disturbed and only the I.T is aware of the viruses in teh environment.Shahid Roofi

    You could set policies which when a malware detected an action perform automatically without user interaction but there is no GPO which stop the notification, one reason could be that when notification keep appearing, then user will know something is wrong
    otherwise why FEP should display any warning.

  • Is it possible to trigger a transaction from an email sent to SAP mail box?

    Hi All,
    I have found a strange requirement where a transaction has to be triggered by double clicking on a line in the email sent to SAP Mail box...!!!
    The requirement is, a batch input program has to be executed and an email with error details has to be sent to the address specified in the parameter of the selection screen. If user double clicks on the error details, transaction SM35 should be called to rerun the batch...
    Hope I am clear.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Phani.

    Hi Phani,
    Not sure if this can be achieved using ABAP. But may be possible using workflow. Don't have much idea on workflow :(. Wait for others suggestion.

  • How to trigger a popup in another .jsff?

    I have multiple regions on a page. there are multiple task flows and multiple .jsff
    Is it posible to trigger a popup from one of jsff on one taskflow, the popup is defined in another jsff in another task flow in another region?
    If so, how can I get the popupId for the af:showPopupBehavior?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    this kind of inter-region communication requires the use of contextual events in which the producer region sends a notification to the receiving region, which then uses a method to launch the popup. You don't use the showPopupBehavior for this but JavaScript from Java

  • Is it possible to fire DDL queries from within a trigger?

    Hi,
    In Oracle 8.0.5, Is it possible to fire DDL queries from within a trigger?
    e.g. when no. of rows is multiple of 1000, I wish to call a procedure which
    analyzes the table and finds the size of the table. I am getting :
    "ORA-04092: cannot COMMIT in a trigger" error message.
    Regards
    Sanchayan

    One way around this is to use the AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION pragma, but I think that was introduced in 8i. Check your docs. Another way is to set up a procedure to do the ANALYZE and in your trigger submit a job using DBMS_JOB to run that procedure.
    Anyway, the second option is best because you really don't want to impose the overhead of running an ANALYZE onto a DML transaction.
    You are also going to run into the mutating table problem: you can't find out how big the table is, because you can't run queries against the table from within a trigger. You could use DATE_LAST_ANALYZED from USER_TAB_COLUMNS, but really you should just schedule jobs to run ANALAYZE at regular intervals - once a day, once a week, once a month, depending on the volatility and usage of any given table.

  • Error while opening a popup from managed bean

    Hi,
    I am trying to open a popup from bean, after another popup is closed. When I open the second popup either through ActionListener(on first popup button) or DialogListener(on first popup), I am getting the below error on browser status bar(!); and the second popup doesn't open. There is no error in the log.
    *'AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent(...)' is null or not an object.*
    Although the popup id is there on the jspx page.
    <af:popup id="confirmationStatus" binding="#{MyBean1.confirmationStatus}">
    <af:dialog cancelVisible="false"
    closeIconVisible="false" binding="#{MyBean1.d2}"
    title="Appointment Confirmation Status">
    <af:outputText value="Appointment is successfully confirmed"/>
    </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    public void confirmAppointment_dialogListener(DialogEvent dialogEvent) {
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExtendedRenderKitService service = Service.getRenderKitService(context, ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    String popupId = "confirmationStatus";
    service.addScript(context,"AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent('" + popupId + "').show();");
    Please tell me why my popup is not getting open from the managed bean and I am getting an error in below line.
    service.addScript(context,"AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent('" + popupId + "').show();");

    To find out the right address of a component related to an other component, open your page select the component you want to add a partial trigger, go to the partial trigger property, select the down arrow at the right end and select 'Edit'. Now look for the popup in the component tree shown on the left side. When you have found the popup shuffle it the the selected side and click OK. The string you see in the field is the full address of the popup related to he component you've selected. Try the string you see there in your bean code. Remove the string from the partial trigger property, it's just to get the correct path.
    One other thing to check is that your popup has the ClientComponent property set to true.
    Next thing to try, is to use AdfPage.PAGE.findComponentByAbsoluteId(...)

  • Programmatically closing a popup from a managed bean

    Hi,
    in the following blog [http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-rc-programmatically-closing-a-popup-from-a-managed-bean/|http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-rc-programmatically-closing-a-popup-from-a-managed-bean/]
    the following statement is being made at the end ...
    The JavaScript call is issued as "window.exitPopup()" because the script is called from the page root. You can easily see how the JavaScript can be modified to have "exitPopup" becoming a generic function avoiding hard coded popup ID's as in my example.
    I don't understand how to avoid hardcoded popup ID's. Could someone please explain this to me.
    Thank you
    Bodhy

    Hi,
    thank you. It is working.
    @Timo
    The closePopup function in your comment has the variable popupId. That made me wonder, if it is possible to set this variable in my jspx page.
    I made a workaround by defining a new variable called popupId with getter and setter methods and using the setActionListener to set that popupId. After that I was calling the closePopup() function. Do you know a better way doing this?
    @Frank
    I was also reading through Frank's blog about JavaScript [http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/adf-faces-rich-client-javascript-programming/|http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/adf-faces-rich-client-javascript-programming/] , trying to find a solution to call JavaScript functions with variables (defining these variables in my jsp page). Is this possible?
    Thank you

  • ADF Show popup from managed bean

    Hi, i have one popup in jspx. On click of a command button a method in managed bean should be called and that has to decide whether to show the popup or not. I have a check and using that i need to show this popup. How to show/invoke the popup from managed bean? I used script also but it was not working. Kindly help me.
    Thank you,
    Sankari Kannan

    Hi,
    Which JDeveloper Release You Use?
    In JDeveloper11g the structure View---->Document----->Form.
    Try one of these solutions:
    - Try to put it outside of your pageTemplate tage as:
    <af:view>
    <af:popup>
    </af:popup>
    <af:pageTemplate>
    <f:facet>
    <af:decorativeBox>
    <af:view>
    I don't know is it possible or not.
    - you can put the ids of your popup container as
    StringBuilder strb =
    new StringBuilder("AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent(\"container1:container2:popup5\").show();");

  • Opening an HTML popup from Flash, not as tab

    Hi
    I need to open an HTML popup from Flash (using ActionScript in
    Flex 4).
    Thus far I found a solution, and it does work in Safari - a new
    and separate HTML window is popped up (with a new web page).
    private function popUpTheHtmlEditor():void {
      var url:String = "http://www.adobe.com";
      var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
      try {
        navigateToURL(request, '_blank');
      } catch (e:Error) {
        trace("Error occurred!");
    But in (my) Firefox (with my settings), when I click on the Flash
    (Flex) button, the page is being opened in a new tab.
    I need a solution which pops up the HTML page in a new/separate
    window, as far as possible regardless of the browser (and browser
    settings).
    I found an example where a popup is opened from HTML, and it opens a
    separate window (a real popup) in my Firefox:
    http://www.gtalbot.org/FirefoxSection/Popup/PopupAndFirefox.html
    -> "Open a requested popup"
    The JavaScript code seems to be:
      OpenRequestedPopup(this.href, this.target); return false;
    with this function def:
      function OpenRequestedPopup(strUrl, strTarget)
        if (WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup == null || WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.closed)
        WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup = window.open(strUrl, strTarget, "top=" + windowTop + ",left=" + windowLeft + ",width=" + windowWidth + ",height=" + windowHeight + ",menubar,toolbar,location,resizable,scrollbars,status");
        else
        if(WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.focus)
          WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.focus();
    How could I call such code from ActionScript? Should this work through
    ExternalInterface? I couldn't even get this to work:
      ExternalInterface.call('alert', 'foo');
    Should I use swfobject.js for embedding the .swf in the HTML wrapper?
    Any other ideas?
    The two files are pasted below.
    Here's the compiler command I'm using:
      mxmlc -output button.swf -target-player 10.0.0 flash_to_editor.mxml
    I'm running the examples locally (as files, not over http). Would it
    help to place the files on a server?

    Hi,
    Here's a solution.
    1. Make ExternalInterface work when files are loaded as local files:
    Go to
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
    In tab Global Security Settings: Edit Locations -> Add Location ->
    browse to the .swf file, add it. Make sure it's in the list (under the
    Edit Locations drop down, with a green check mark.)
    Now open the HTML wrapper in a browser (eg Firefox).
    Now this works (ActionScript):
    private function popUpTheHtmlEditor():void {
      ExternalInterface.call('alert', 'foo');
    On Windows: perhaps:
    http://techjig.blogspot.com/2008/03/flash-global-security-settings-windows.html
    "In order for external interface functions to be called, you must also
    specify the folder/file where the swf file is located."
    The above setup isn't necessary when the files are on a server.
    Also see:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/external/External Interface.html#call()
    ""ExternalInterface" "

    "Using the ExternalInterface API to access JavaScript"
    2. Open a real popup: Example:
    ActionScript:
    private function popUpSomething():void {
      var editorPathOrUrl:String =
        'wrapper.html';
      var windowName:String =
        "SomeNameSeeDocs";
      var windowFeatures:String =
        "toolbar=yes,menubar=yes,location=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=500,height=700";
      ExternalInterface.call(
        'launch',editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures
    JavaScript:
    function launch(editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures) {
      windowRef = window.open(
        editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures
    Works in all browser I tested except Opera.

  • Calling an ABAP WebDynpro Popup from a BSP view

    I need to know if the following is possible.
    I have a requirement to call an ABAP WebDynpro Popup from a BSP view.
    When the Popup is triggered (eg via pushbutton) the BSP will pass data to the Popup, before the Popup is closed the Popup will pass data back to the BSP to be displayed in the BSP view.
    I do not want to rely on Portal Events as Portals may not be used, would really appreciate a clean simple solution.

    Hi,
    any webdynpro application has a URL behind it. Haven´t you tried to call that URL with Javascript code ??
    script language="Javascript"
          url = "test_page.htm" + "?field=" + param;
          window.open(url, "F4window", "width=400, height=400");
    /script
    You can pass data to the WD application using parameters as I show you after the "?".

  • Popup from the popup

    Hi Experts,
    I'mcreating a popup in a standard way from a normal View called 'MAIN':
    lr_popup = lr_window_manager->create_window(
        modal               = abap_true
        window_name         = 'WND_POPUPMAIN'
        title               = lv_text
        close_button        = abap_true
        button_kind         = if_wd_window=>co_buttons_yesno
        message_type        = if_wd_window=>CO_MSG_TYPE_NONE
        close_in_any_case   = abap_false
    lr_popup->subscribe_to_button_event(
                       button            = if_wd_window=>co_button_yes
                       button_text       = lv_text
                       action_name       = 'CPY'
                       action_view       = lr_view_controller
                       is_default_button = abap_true ).
    In the Action handler of the YES button (It is in the MAIN View),  I made some operations, then I'd like to close this popup then open a new one, which shows the errors  (if there are errors) in another popup.
      lr_nd_errors->bind_table( lt_errors ).
        lr_api_comp_controller = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
        lr_window_manager = lr_api_comp_controller->get_window_manager( ).
        lr_popup = lr_window_manager->create_window(
          modal               = abap_true
          window_name         = 'WND_ERROR'
          title               = lv_text
          close_button        = abap_true
          button_kind         = if_wd_window=>CO_BUTTONS_CLOSE
          message_type        = if_wd_window=>CO_MSG_TYPE_ERROR
          close_in_any_case   = abap_true
    The problem is: that this second popup doesn't open.
    My question is: IS this possible in WenDynpro? (open poopup from another one) If no then what do you think, how can I show the error table?
    Thanks
    N.

    It seems, WDA can't open a popup from a popup

  • Problem while invoking popup from backing bean

    I am invoking a popup from backing bean method.
    The same backing bean method has the business logic which depends on the data collected from popup(user enters some data on popup).
    So I need the business logic to be executed after popup comes up.
    The popup is coming after the execution of return statement in backing bean method . How do i make popup trigger at earlier point in the method.
    <af:commandToolbarButton text="#{corePostupgradeuiBundle.SIGN_OFF_MIG}"
    id="socb52"
    partialSubmit="true"
    actionListener="#{viewScope.signoffBean.signOffAgents}"
    partialTriggers="t3"/>
    public void signOffAgents(ActionEvent event) throws SQLException {
    DCBindingContainer bc =
    (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding summaryIter =
    bc.findIteratorBinding("Signoff1Iterator");
    showPopup("credentials"); //will get credential details from user and store in credential Bean
    //Following logic uses the data collected from popup
    EMCredentialReference credRef= credentialBean.getCredReference();
    submitJOb(credRef);
    public static void showPopup(String popupId) {
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    StringBuilder script = new StringBuilder();
    script.append("AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent(\"").append(popupId).append("\").show();");
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks =
    Service.getService(context.getRenderKit(),
    ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    erks.addScript(context, script.toString());
    UIComponent component = context.getViewRoot().findComponent(popupId);
    RequestContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(component);
    }

    Well, your work flow is wrong.
    What you try to accomplish should work out of the box as
    1) user hit toolbar button
    2) this opens a popup "credentials" which have listeners for ok and cancel
    3) use fills in data in popup and hit ok or cancel
    4) one of the listeners gets fired
    5a) if OK listener you do your business logic
    5b) if cancel you do something else
    So all you have to do is the use a af:af:showPopupBehavioron the toolbar button, add a popup canel listener (if you need to act on canel) dependign on your popup design (dialog or simple button) add the appropriate listeners and in the listener method so your business logic.

  • How to trigger a refresh from SAP

    I have setup a web dynpro to display information from a function module in SAP. The function module executes abap programs in the backend SAP system and returns a result to a table in SAP. The information in this table is read by the function model that is bound to the web dynpro. I would like to know whether it is possible to trigger a refresh of the information displayed by the web dynpro once the abap in SAP has finished running. How do I go about implementing this in Developer Studio?
    Thanks
    Seb

    Hi Seb,
    the only solution is to use the TimedTriggerUI to get your browser doing a refresh. Even if you would have a thread running which polls yours backend, the server has no possibility to send this to your http client (browser).
    With the timed trigger your browser refreshes (connects) in intervals to the java app server. This events can be used to poll changes.

  • How to trigger the workflow from the excel sheet

    hello friends,
    my problem is that i should trigger the workflow from a excel sheet which contains a list of appraisers and appraisees.how to do this. can anyone  help on this.
    thanks.

    Hi Murthy,
    If you are asking if a workflow can be started on R/3 while in Excel - may be possible if you can develop some fancy macros that can make RFC calls to an ABAP function module. I won't even attempt to travel that route.
    Save the excel sheet as CSV or Tab delimited file and process it using ABAP. You can use the WAPI function module SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT (Rel 4.7)to start the Workflow by raising the relevant event. In earlier releases, see FM SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
    Please do keep in mind there could be performance and response time issues for dialog users of the system if you are going to start several workflows using a report program.
    Cheers,
    Ramki.
