Is JavaBean same as EJB?

hi there
is JavaBean same as EJB? when i use javabean in a jsp page, can this bean be a EJB?

ok, if i have a JSP with a form on one hand which will
collect some data, and on the other hand, i need to
call a web service and pass these collected data to
it. i need to simulate a server application on the
client side that is going to take these data, and pass
them to the web service. can i build a EJB to do the
backend work, or a JavaBean, or a servlet? I can not
decide what is the best way to simulate this server
application. Yes you can, an EJB is a component which can be accessed remotely. Since a JSP contains Java code you can pass an object holding the data you collected to the EJB for back-end processing. Or you can use a servlet. It depends on your requirements. A servlet is easier to build an deploy, for a small application it might be a better option.

  • How to use the same Entity EJB to access the same table in 2 syb databases

    We are trying to convert an application to J2EE. We have the following
    concern. The application requires the use of 10 sybase databases with
    identical tables. One database per branch. We would like to be able to use the same set of entity EJBs to access all databases.
    One solution we can think of is to use bmp entity beans and have a dispatcher session bean pass the database that the entity bean has to connect to.
    Would it work?
    Is there a more elegant way to do this?

    I don't know if there is a more elegant way to do it, but that will work. I have a similar scenario, one database per customer. You'll have to use BMP and get your connections based on the branch.
    Each one of my DAO methods requires that a customer ID be passed in for each method. The customer ID is part of the primary key for each entity bean; therefore, if I need to find a deposit (entity) for a customer, I pass the customer ID and deposit ID to my session facade, create the PK using these, do a findByPrimaryKey, etc. In the ejbLoad, I use the customer ID and the deposit ID to pass into the DAO. There, another class (ConnectionFactory) returns a proper connection based on the customer ID passed, which I use to do my queries.

  • Javabean Clients for EJBs in OC4J

    Is there anyone who has written a Javabean that accesses a EJB
    deployed in OC4J, doesnt have to be a structural EJB, could be
    any class that does it and is then used by a JSP. If so, could
    you please help me out. I cant seem to do that, i cant
    understand what will be the directory structure. I use the ANT
    tool for creating the ear file.

    Hi nil,
    This may help you:
    http://kb.atlassian.com/content/tutorials/jollem/orion-cmp-
    primer/
    It shows how to access a CMP entity EJB from a JSP. The java code
    is embedded in the JSP file(s) but I think you can easily move
    the code to a java bean and call the java bean methods from the
    JSP.
    Hope this helps you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • While trying to import an Enterprise Javabean Model "No EJBs available"

    Hi,
    I´ve facing the following problem, it was working but suddenly it stopped.
    I´ve created an EAR project that contains an EJB project, the EJBs are add to the public part, at least all the java classes that I want to access and the ear has another public part that references to the EJB public part, when I try to import it on Web Dynpro trying to create e new Enterprise javabeans it says to me that:No EJBs available, in fact it shows the project that contains the ejb but when i check and go next to list the EJB files in that project it says: No EJBs available.
    Any idea of what is happeening?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Initial Context Factory for same OC4J EJB access in 10.1.3.1

    What should the INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY be set to when you try to access an EJB from within the same OC4J instance? Should it be:
    a) ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory
    b) RMIInitialContextFactory
    c) Nothing at all
    d) Something else completely
    I ask because I am try to move from 10.1.3.0 to 10.1.3.1 and I have a thread spawned during startup that is unable to access the EJB

    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: MySessionHome not found
    It does not set the INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY because it has been my understanding that this is not necessary. Did something change in 10.1.3.1?

    Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I tried adding the following entry to my orion-application.xml file with no luck. I was able to fix the problem by adding commons-digester.jar,commons-logging.jar, and log4j-1.2.15.jar to the /BC4J/lib folder on the server. Unfortunately this fix caused errors when trying to launch the BPEL console. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Any idea on what could be the reason??? Why it is not working in my system??

    Thanks Guys.
    I have found the root cause of this issue i.e even though mapping program is same in 2 environments,standard functions(i.e concat Text function)  behaviour may change based on support package versions.
    As i explained in previous posts
    (QA mapping program not generating some of the node in IDOC as DEV does, basically its SOAP to IDOC mapping)
    QA(PI7.0 SP15) and DEV(PI7.0 SP10) have different Java support package stacks, especially SAP_XITOOL component.
    Untill PI7.0 SP10 concat standard function was working for Queue values but in next SP releases it wasn't working(SAP made it Value function i guess, no where its documented by SAP as far as i know).
    So I am sending this issue to SAP.
    Cheers,
    Jag

  • What is the diffrence between a javabean and  EJB

    hi!
    what is the diffrence between a javabean and entreprise jvaabeans! i mean which are the uitilization featires of eaxh one !

    i am seeking for a solution for my problem , in fact i ma trying to implement and develop an application with java that allows a certain range of IP adresses to be connected to a database server in order to extract the suitable data from the server .
    let me explain mor ethe suitation , in fact what i am loking for is to use javabeans to grant my application much more consistence and pertinence : si i am asking if it could be possible to use javabeans in my case especially if i am not trying to developp a web application but a cleint /server one allowing some services.
    The application is in fact dealing with a stock exchange market and what i am trying to do is to grant particilar registrated customers to have the informations that they need ( portofolio, currency's status, market indicators, .) also drawing some charts decribing rates, variations, and others specefic financial caracterestics .So , if we consider that this application is not a web application ( no HTTP request and no servers like apache or others ) how it is possible to use javabeans and not EJB to build the application? i mean what could be suitable and preferable to rely on and dvelop to ensure a good java application !!
    if you need more details to help you find the answer for me don't hesitate to answer me back !!
    Someone here gave me that answer
    use RMI to code the services and (Updateable) Value Objects to pass the information between tiers.
    RMI is an all-java distributed component framework (ie. EJB, CORBA, DCE/RPC, DCOM, etc.), that is very suitable for developing non-containerized multi-tier applications. Refer to the RMI trail in the Java Tutorial as a starting point for coding RMI solutions (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html). Under this scenario you would code the database access service as an RMI service (server-side). Client/server communication should be facilitated through the use of JavaBeans/classes that wrap the information being passed (customer information, portfolio details, market information, etc.) - these are refered to as 'Updateable Value Objects' (a design pattern). Graphing and charting would be handled in your client from the information received from the (RMI) server. GUI JavaBeans can be used to provide this functionality as well as other client-side services. There are numerous "shrink-wrapped" components for GUIs available on the market just peruse any Java magazine to find them.
    but how comes? how can i do it !! and where can i find more information please about 'Updateable Value Object "
    thanks

  • JavaBeans and EJB Difference

    Hi Experts:
    Can anyone tell me DIFFERENCE between JAVABEANS and ENTERPRISE JAVABEANS? I am a newbie to JavaBean world. How do we know which one to use when?
    Also, any startup BASIC TUTORIAL Link would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    A javabean is simply a class that, through established conventions, exposes certain elements as standard properties. See http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Beans/beans01/ and http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Beans/beans02/ for a tutorial. Javabeans are a common part of most java programming.
    An enterprise java bean (EJB) is a heavyweight, transactional, remotable component running in a managed "container." EJB has little or nothing to do with regular javabeans. Use EJBs to build web applications and web services with steep scalability, failover and transactional requirements. See http://www2.theserverside.com/books/masteringEJB/index.jsp for a lengthy and comprehensive tutorial.

  • Difficulty abstracting EJB - JavaBean mapping

    We are implementing a java based MVC architecture. The Model portion is really two seperate tiers, one being JavaBeans with which the View communicates and the second being EJBs as a buffer to the data store. In between these two is a very thin layer whose sole responsibility it is to map the data between the JavaBean and the EJB based on a C-like-struct structure utilized by both. For example, in a "get" request, this mapper layer instantiates the appropriate JavaBean, looks up the appropriate EJBHome, gets the remote of the specified primary key, gets the "struct" from the EJB and loads it into the JavaBean. However, I have run into all kinds of problems with doing this because of the J2EE/EJB restriction prohibiting the home from returning super-types of the remote.
    Temporarily, I have gotten around this limitation by simply reflecting on the objects returned from the EJB calls. However, this is less than ideal because of the "compiles-but-doesn't-run" issue. I have also thought about having the JavaBeans talk directly with its corelated EJB, but this seems to make the coupling between these two too tight.
    Has anyone else found a good way around this strangely extremely non-OO issue?
    Thanks.

    Moving back towards top...

  • EJB-JAVABEANS

    Detailed differences between javabeans and ejb2.0?

    Any reusable java classes could be a javabean. EJB is special javabean that can be managed by EJB container which will be able to manage, saying EJB fields to map to database fields. Ofcaurse you can manage this just like regular javabeans. In EJB, it is called bean managed, instead of container managed.
    You can find a short tutorial on sun site.

  • Question : JSP use EJB

    I write a stateful Session Bean,and I want to use the same instance of this Stateful Session Bean in two JSP file(in a session). How can I do with it?
    I try to use the same JavaBean in two JSP page,and through this javaBean invoke the EJB instance,it can work. But is it a good method?

    You can pass to the second JSP page in the same session using the object HttpSession the Stateful Session Bean instance.
    e.g.
    FirstJSPPage
    HttpSession mySession = request.getSession();
    mySession.put("mySessionBean",mySessionBean);
    SecondJSPPage
    HttpSession mySession = request.getSession(false);
    MySessionBean mySessionBean =
    (MySessionBean)mySession.get("mySessionBean");

  • How to call a CORBA Object in a 3rd Party ORB from a EJB

    Hello
    I found a few articles on the web how to call EJBs for example from C++.
    However, I want to do the inverse. I want to resolve an Object (implemented in C++, using OmniORB) via COS-Naming and invoke it from a EJB. I can write a simple Java Client which does this without a problem. But as soon as I try to do the same in EJB I get the following:
    [#|2004-11-09T10:48:16.848+0100|WARNING|sun-appserver-pe8.0.0_01|javax.enterprise.resource.corba._DEFAULT_.rpc.transport|_ThreadID=12;|"IOP00710209: (INTERNAL) Unable to create listener thread on the specific port"

    at com.sun.corba.ee.spi.oa.ObjectAdapterBase.initializeTemplate(ObjectAdapterBase.java:104)
    I think there is somehow a conflict because the SUN Appserver also uses CORBA. My Code looks like this:
    String[] a = null;
    Properties props = new Properties();
    final String CORBA_HOST = "arcos";
    final String ORB_INITIAL_PORT = "2809";
    props.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort", ORB_INITIAL_PORT);
    props.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost", CORBA_HOST);
    org.omg.CORBA.ORB orb = org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init(a, props);
    So I thought this might be because there is already a ORB initialised. So I replaced the last line with
    org.omg.CORBA.ORB orb = org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init();
    Which should give me an ORB instance. However I get the following exception:

  • EJB 3.0 @Stateless @EJB @Resource and JNDI clarity..

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure an EJB 3.0 but not able to do so properly.
    I have a single business interface and 2 bean implementation class of the same business interface doing different things. How do I access the EJB's if I have the same business interface class.I am getting JNDI error while trying to lookup.
    Also what does the "name" and "mappedName" in @Stateless(name ="...",mappedName="") signify.
    Then in case of Dependency injection,how should I look for the EJB? What would be it's JNDI name in this case?
    @EJB(name="",beanName="",mappedName="")
    private HelloEJB hello;
    What does the name,benaName and mappedName in case of an @EJB annotation signify??
    Please clear me with these attributes of @Stateless and @EJB and @Resource. I am getting toatlly confused with what should be the logic name and what is the JNDI name????
    Thanks

    In @Stateless, @name() is the annotation equivalent of <ejb-name> in ejb-jar.xml. It gives a unique bean name identifier to the component within the ejb-jar. It is completely independent of mappedName. If no @Stateless name() is specified, it defaults to the unqualified bean class name.
    In @Stateless, mappedName() is used to assign a global JNDI name to the bean's remote interface. This can be used to explicitly lookup the EJB reference to that interface or as one way to resolve a caller's EJB dependency.
    In @EJB, if the target of the dependency lives within the same application, you can always fully resolve it using only beanName(). beanName() takes the value specified in @Stateless name(), or the default as described above.
    @EJB name() assigns a name to the client dependency within the caller's component environment. It is optional. In most cases that value doesn't matter since if the dependency is being injected you never have to refer to the name() attribute anywhere else.
    @EJB mappedName() is used to resolve an EJB dependency that spans applications. It holds a global JNDI name, e.g. the one specified in @Stateless mappedName(). mappedName() is not required to be supported by all vendors.
    So, to sum it all up, it's fine to have two different beans that expose the same interface. E.g. :
    @Stateless(name="A1", mappedName="A1Global")
    public class A1 implements A { ... }
    @Stateless(mappedName="A2Global") // name() defaults to "A2"
    public class A2 implements A { ... }
    In a caller within the same application :
    @EJB(beanName="A1")
    private A a;
    @EJB(beanName="A2")
    private A a;
    In a caller within a different application :

  • EJb 3.0 com.ibm.mq.jms.MQQueueConnectionFactory

    Hi All
    I see this error
    [EJB:011013]The Message-Driven EJB attempted to connect to the JMS connection fa
    ctory with the JNDI name:xxxx.ccerqcf. However, the object with th
    e JNDI name xxxx.ccerqcf is not a JMS connection factory. NestedEx
    ception Message is :com.ibm.mq.jms.MQQueueConnectionFactory
    When using MDB/ EJB 3.0 in WLS 10.0 Mp2
    When I use EJB 2.x I don't see the issue, can ejb 3.o read weblogic-ejb-jar.xml for its connection factory?
    Is there any debug flag to see a better exception
    This is a MDB intended to listen to message from IBM MQ server using a foreign server configured in the console
