Is JAXB there in j2me?

I have a MIDP application calling a web service. Web service returns XML data in String format....
String srt= XML data <survey>...<survey>
which i got after converting objects to xml using XStream. is there a way to convert XML string back to objects. I think it can be done using JAXB..is it available in j2me webservices.
If not, any other solution to the problem.

Hi,
There does not seem to be any JavaME JAXB impl. in it absence one had to write do their own parsing code using JavaME Web Services XML Parsing api or by using kxml api.
Would wish to one for javame.. but no luck.

  • Is there any j2me api to assign ringtone to specific contact ?

Is there any j2me API in PIM or something else to assign custom ringtone to specific contact or specific phone number? if anyone of u have worked on this thing ..please share your solutions with me.....

You can use numactl to lock any process to a NUMA node, but that only helps if your machine really is NUMA (AMD Opteron servers are, Itanium systems often are).
You should be able to enumerate nodes using:
    numactl -H
And lock the process to a node using for instance:
    numactl cpubind=$node_num membind=$node_num java MyClass
It is hardware dependent how many CPUs and how much memory you have per node. A common number of CPUs is 1-4 sockets.

  • Is there any j2me 3d/2d game editor ?

is there any game editor for none programmers?
    to create cell phone games?

    Hi,
I don't know about any targeting JME platform, but there's a nice project called Greenfoot at www.greenfoot.org focusing on IDE for developing 2D games in JSE.

  • Dynamic class loading in J2ME

    Hi all,
Couple of questions. Is dynamic class loading using classloaders supported in any, if not all versions of J2ME? I guess I should ask first, what exactly does J2ME cover? I see KVM, but do watches and PDA's, set top boxes, refrigerators and so forth all run the same J2ME JVM? Or are their "less feature full" versions? I was hoping the J2ME spec would be the "lowest common denominator" to program for, but I thought I read somewhere that small devices like watches may even have a "smaller" J2ME JVM or something, less capable. So can I write code for J2ME and it will run on all small devices like cell phones, pda's, and so forth? Or is there another J2ME version, perhaps small than J2ME.
So, from what I have found so far, it appears dynamic class loading is done at startup from a DB (of sorts) as opposed to being able to dynamically find/load classes. If this is so, is there any way to support downloading and reloading new classes like you can with J2SE, such as the hot-swap feature of web servers? Does Class.forName() at least work in that you can "replace" a class with a new version, even if it is not able to have a separate classloader instance? My guess is that J2ME supports only a single classloader space, but I thought I read somewhere that Class.forName() is available. J2ME API shows it I believe, but I could be wrong.
Any help on this topic would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Dynamic class loading is not available in most (if not all) J2ME profiles and configurations. Class.forName() is available (at least in the MID profile), but not to be used for dynamic class loading. It can be used when using device-specific APIs where you can try to load a class containing device specific methods (for example a class that works only on certain Nokia phones, and has methods playSound() and vibrate(), which are not available in MIDP), and if you catch a ClassNotFound exception you can load a class that doesn't use the device specific APIs and contains stubs of the methods, or you can disable certain features in you application that need those features. For an example implementation you can have a look at Nokia's Block Game example (available from their developer site - http://www.forum.nokia.com/main.html).
As for your other more general questions about different JVM's and such, you should read all about the different configurations and profiles available in J2ME (plenty of information using in the J2ME link on this site).

    Hello,
I just started writing a J2ME MP3 player application. The MP3 files are stored in the device's flash memory, not streamed through the air. • Heavy loading of jaxb classes

    Hi,
We need to use the latest jaxb 2.1 libraries in our application. We are using netweaver 7.1 CE and it seems to ship with jaxb 2.0 libs. (file:/usr/sap/CE7/J00/j2ee/cluster/bin/ext/jaxb20/jaxb-impl.jar)
We are already using heavy loading for the hibernate classes, and I assumed I could to the same for jaxb. The dump of the heavy loaded classes from telnet is as follows:
       /usr/sap/CE7/J00/j2ee/cluster/apps/sap.com/Manifest/app_libraries_container/lib/javassist-3.4.jar

The jaxb classes is included, but it does not seem that my jaxb libraries is used by my application. I've added a util method to do o lookup of the classloader of the jaxb class that I get hold of in the app, and it is still the original jaxb2.0
Is this the correct approach to use a newer JAXB or is there some other way of doing it?
    Regards Jaco

In the NetWeaver you can make one application dependent on another one using the [application-j2ee-engine.xml|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/053c1041f30486e10000000a155369/content.htm] descriptor.
If you have YourApp.ear, and HibernateJars.ear (the latter one as "Heavy Library"), in the YourApp.ear/META-INF/application-j2ee-engine.xml you could write:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE application-j2ee-engine SYSTEM "application-j2ee-engine.dtd">
    <application-j2ee-engine>
         <provider-name>yourcompany.com</provider-name>
         <reference reference-type="hard">
              <reference-target target-type="application" provider-name="yourcompany.com">HibernateJars</reference-target>
         </reference>
    </application-j2ee-engine>
In such case, the HibernateJars' classloader will not see the jaxb classes loaded by server, and whatever refers to jaxb there - will use the version you want. BUT, YourApp's classloader will use the jaxb version loaded on server.
I know this may still be confusing... I would recommend you to browse through the classloader viewer on the web console (port 50000):
SAP NetWeaver Administrator > Problem Management > Classloader viewer > Java Class Loader Viewer
(find the classloaders of your applications and browse through Children, Parents and Resources tabs -
this is where I understood the NetWeaver's classloading approach

  • J2ME distrubuted transactions.

    Hello all,
We have implemented MIDP application that is used for performing secured transactions. The problems is that there is nothing in J2ME that supports distributed transactions like J2EE JTA architecture. We are therefore forced to implement our own code to persist the transaction state on the device and retrieve it and resume the transaction. Although this is achieved, it has made the application much bigger that it needs to be, with some bugs due to reliability issues.
Is there any J2ME design pattern or third party API that allows for JTA like distributed transaction on J2ME as well?
    Thanks in advance,

  • FTP connection possible with J2ME?

    Hi all,
Does anybody if it is possible to make an FTP connection for a J2ME midlet (like you would make an http connection). If so, how can I do this and where could I find some information about this?
    Kind regards

In MIDP 1.0, only HTTP support is required. With only HTTP, you could set up a custom proxy (which could be a Java servlet, CGI script, etc.) that does FTP on behalf of the client. So the client would make an HTTP request to, say, http://www.example.com/ftpProxy?url=ftp%3A%2F%2Fftp.example.com%2Ffoo%2Fbar, and the server-side ftpProxy program would fetch and return the specified FTP URL.
Some phones support raw sockets, in which case a proxy wouldn't be needed and you could implement FTP yourself (by reading the appropriate RFC). But this wouldn't be very portable as there are J2ME MIDP phones that only support HTTP.

  • Open Source j2me Library

    hi to all.
i am working in Netbeans 5.5 with j2me WTK 2.5. As all know there is no special GUI controls. Now my questions is
    1. is there any j2me GUI library that integrate in Netbeans environment (5.5 or 6.0)..
Can anybody help me in this regards. Bcoz there are alot of applications build in j2me having special GUI controls. I need it urgently.
    best regards
    Hassan Mushtaq

    1. how can i integrate this library into netbeans 5.5 or Netbeans 6.0Tools ---> Library Manager ---> Add Jar
And you simply add the jar file of the library , in the classpath tab.
After that to use the library you have to add it, in your project properties
    2. Which Netbeans IDE u recommend to use this library. currently i m using 5.5.Either stay with 5.5 or upgrade to 6 , it doesn't matter the library works on both.
    3. Can i integrate its control in Netbeans visual editor? if Yes How?No , till this point i think could be wrong though
    1. Is j2me Polish is free? i don't think so. J2ME Polish is free , http://www.j2mepolish.org/ (url tag still doesn't work)
With Polish you can use the visual editor, since polish uses the same GUI components and enhances them with CSS.
I strongly recommend the J2ME Polish tool , i have been using it a while and it has great potentials especially for creating bundles of the application for different mobiles , as well for the interface enhancements. There is also a book i bought on J2ME Polish called Pro J2ME Polish if you are interested

  • JAXB in 10.1.3

I am using Oracle's JAXB 1.0 implementation in 10.1.3 (not Toplink version of JAXB) and I am getting an error
javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Error in Calling ObjectFactory if I setValidating to true on an unmarshaller.
If I comment out the line or set it to false, my XML will unmarshall fine. Any help or pointers regarding this matter would be IMMENSLY appreciated.
    J

I found the issue. In the ObjectFactory class that is generated by JAXB, there is a method called get schema location. The compiler hard coded "null" in the area that is supposed to point to a file. It was throwing nullRef exception which I assume Oracle's JAXB classes were swallowing and generating the msg I was getting yesterday.
For intrested parties I also found a nasty little annoying bug in the TopLink JAXB implementation.

  • New to j2me

hello i m new to j2me and i was wondering
    1. if it is possible to run these programs on window xp (and if so, how)
    2. which good editors are there for j2me
    3. are there any links to a good tutorial for j2me
    thanks

    A good tutorial is:
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/tutorial/doc/
For a text editor, use Notepad or Textpad (available from http://www.textpad.com). For a newby (which I consider myself) these are good, because unlike some CASE tools, these generate no code for you--you have to do everything, which is the best way to learn. After you learn the basics, then using tools like JBuilder, come in handy.
What I like about Textpad is that it highlights keywords and matching parens and braces.

  • So j2me is lagging behind in terms of bluetooth

There is j2me bluetooth API (JSR82 if i'm not wrong) out there already but no mobie phone vendor has implemeted that API, so what's the point here?
I'm not blaming anyone here, but java is lagging behind, isn't it.
Bluetooth phone become more and more popular. So maybe SUN can do more to promote the bluetooth features of j2me, e.g. adding bluetooth simulation into the emulator.
Java games on phone CAN be more fun if players can play them with their friends in a same room over bluetooth connections.

    Hi again!
First of all I don't know why you open an extra thread?! Your message isn't so important...
It's not Sun's part to include Buetooth-Api in mobile phones. Sun has done everything that can be done (specified an api, created classes), the rest is part of mobile manufactureres.
I'm sure that sooner or later there will be phones that can communicate over bluetooth, for now this isn't possible.
However games are fun, but not more. I don't have many games on my mobile and my time is to expensive to waste it with playing mobile games.
Java is lagging behind? Behind what?
There's simply no other way than java, and I'm happy this is so.
If Nokia would support J2ME, Siemens and Samsung a proprietary C++ enviroment and Motorola would create a script-language for their phones I would not know what to do. I think I would not create mobile applikations at all.
Java has the problem that it is the lowest common determinator.
You can see this when looking for MIDP-1 and CLCD-1. This java had to run on lowest-end hardware (because mobiles these days where not as powerful than new ones) and thats why MIDP-2 has so many new features.
Would Sun have implemented all the midp-2 stuff in midp-1 no mobile manfucaturer would include java, because before 4y fast embedded hardware was expensive or simply not available....
Be happy what you've got with Java and stop trolling arround. You can do amazing things with J2ME (even with midp1) - don't worry - things and features will become more and powerful - be happy.
    don't worry - be happy
