Is message mapping optional?

HI Experts,
I use the same message type for oubound and inbound interfaces.It means I need not have mapping.
I created Interface mapping without a message mapping, but unable to activate it.
Kindly guide me how to acheive this?
Thanks,
Karthik

Hi karthik,
You can't activate an interface mapping without a message mapping.
at least one mapping you need in IR to transfer your data.
you can do a one to one message mapping and choose it in your interface mapping.

  • Using useOneAsMany function in Message Mapping if subtree is optional

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a message mapping for the following case:
    In the source message, there is a value "Value1" which is on the same level as a subtree "Struct2" which can occur 0..unbound times
    In the target message the value "Value1" has to be part of that subtree, so it has to be copied for each occurence of "Struct2" in the source message
    For the case that the subtree has cardinality 1..n there are some examples on the web, e.g. useOneAsMany (SAP-Bibliothek - Partner Connectivity Kit). But that does not fit my case. The subtree in the source message is optional here.
    See a screenshot of the message mapping and my solution for the mapping of "Value1" below:
    All other values are mapped 1:1.
    Sadly, this solution does not work when "Struct2" has cardinality 0..unbound, for 1..unbound it works perfectly. Here is my example:
    When I try the mapping, I get the following error message:
    That is true. The first queue of the useOneAsMany function has more values than the second. But I don't know how I can fix it, so that it works for my example. Can anyone give me a hint please?
    Setup is AEX 7.31.

    Hi Stefan,
    You can use this mapping.
    And for Struct2-Value1
    Result:
    Hope this helps,

  • Different options for message mapping in BPM

    Hey guys
    i m in the learning phase of BPM and am kinda confused with the different ways we can do message mapping in a BPM scenario.
    first of all we can do message mapping before BPM,we can also do after BPM and lastly we can do inside BPM(ofcurse this is not recommended as its too resource consuming)
    i have bene through starters blog on BPM by Krishna moorthy and Arpit seth,and now am wondering how to use the mapping in diff. ways
    suppose i m doing a simple File to File with BPM(just for practise purpose)
    now here is what i have designed in IR
    DT_sender_File                                       DT_receiver_File
    MT_sender_File                                       MT_receiver_File
    MI_Outbound_sender(async,outbound),     MI_Inbound_receiver(async,inbound)
    AI_sender(abstract,async)                        AI_receiver(abstract,async)
    MM_File_File(using MT_sender_File and MT_receiver_File)
    now i want to clear some doubts about interface mapping.my understanding is
    if i do interface mapping between MI_Outbound_sender and AI_receiver,this will be interface mapping before BPM.
    if i do interface mapping between AI_sender and MI_Inbound_receiver,this will be interafce mapping after BPM
    and if i do interface mapping between AI_sender and AI_receiver then it will be mapping inside BPM.
    is my understanding correct?if yes,then does that means we can we any of the above mapping in our scenario.(if we dont consider the performance issue as of now)
    thanx
    saif

    Hi Saif,
    <i>
    is my understanding correct?</i>
    Yes, thts correct
    <i>if yes,then does that means we can we any of the above mapping in our scenario</i>
    Of course, u can use any of them (overlooking the performance issue)

  • Additional message mapping in the operation mapping-use

    Hi Friends,
       I could find the option for adding more than one message mappings in the operation mapping(Interface mapping). What is the actual purpose of it. when it is used. If there is any blogs regarding the same. refer any link for the same.
    Regards
    Prem

    Hi Prem
    Refer the blog provided by Sarvesh
    What is the actual purpose of it. when it is used. If there is any blogs regarding the same
    You can use more than one mapping programs for requirement where your message mapping cannot generate the desired structure you want or you want to do some transformations in a sequence for meeting your requirement.
    Example: You want to generate a excel sheet as a mail attachment but you have to read a flat file. What you can do here is you can read the Flat file in a single string variable itself. Use XSLT mapping1. Now in a sequence using XSLT Map2/Java mapping program to convert to excel and send as attachment over email

  • Receiver File adapter - 'Empty Message Handling' option to ignore not worki

    Hi,
      I am trying to create the Files in receiver based on condition.But I am gettiung error in communication channel when there is no payload. Receiver I am usuing FCC and processing tab I selected -'Empty Message Handling' option to ignore .
    one source -> Target 1 (0..1 occurance in signature tab changed, message mapping and operation mapping)
                 and Target 2 (0..1 occurance in signature tab changed)
    and I put the message type level condition. While creating first message If did not create the Message type in my maaping still my Receiver File communication channel is giving error. even thow I my receiver interface occurance is 0..1
    Right now I am in PI7.1 and SP7 is the bug for support pack do I am missing any thing. and do I need to upgrade any nwe patch. appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Venu.

    Hi,
    here is the my requirment one source -> two target interfacess (0..1)
    If u have 2 target interfaces,then this is not suffice..... u should make it as 0..unbounded both in operation mapping and message mapping.
    But based on ur requirements posted above i guess u have only one inbound interface at a time based on some conditions....
    But,
    <messages>
    <messages1>
    based on condition first message type not created in mapping.
    <messgaes2>
    The error u r getting is because.... u want only one interface in target at a time....
    Then u should not generate Message1 also in the target.
    So avoid mapping to message1 if u want only message2.
    If both message1 and message2 are created in target means... it is triggering for two interfaces.... so avoid one message1 or message2... based on some conditions u have..
    Still nt solved do post...

  • Message mapping in sap pi 7.3

    Hi all,
    I am using SAP PI 7.3. In ESR, I have declared one source data type & message type and one target data type & message type. I have also completed message mapping. But in message mapping, If I do right click on the target message type, I am getting one option "Add variable" in the context.
    Can anyone tell me what is the use of it?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Moumita

    Hi Moumita
    This is mainly used to store some values in it and then use it later in the same mapping.
    For example suppose there is a field which contains amount and it occurs in many times in the source structure.
    So we can populate the sum of all this fields into this variable and later used that for populating any target field.
    Another example is suppose we want to make an RFC look up in PI to store some data in ECC tables.
    In that also we map the RFC look up function to this variable.
    This variable will be not present in the map output.

    Hi Mike,
    What I suspect is, you get a null pointer exception because the XML tag name which you are trying to retrieve, has a namespace. Could you please instead try to use:
    getElementsByTagNameNS(java.lang.String namespaceURI, java.lang.String localName)
              Returns a NodeList of all the Elements with a given local name and namespace URI in document order.
    Let us know if it works.

  • Message Mapping ...  ABAP ,XSLT and JAVA

    HI Friends
    I have a general question ... but it will confuse me a lot ....
    my question is we have four types of message mappings
    1) GUI ( and UDFs)
    2) ABAP
    3)XSLT
    4) JAVA
    when we have plenty of options in GUI (and User defined functions also)  to define sender 2 receiver message mapping
    then what is need of JAVA,ABAP and XSLT Message Mapping and when we use these message mappings( exactly in which situation) and difference b/w them
    Thanks in Advance
    Mahesh

    Green = recommended
    Yellow = Acceptable
    Red = not recommended
    In my experience.
    XSLT mapping: is confotable to convert to another format different to xml(when we do not have a complex logic)
    Java Mapping: is to implement complex logics(but the maintainbilityis not good...you need a external tool)
    ABAP mapping: I think is the best option when the you have the skills on that technology but take account that is not portable neither good for usability.

  • How to remove nodes in Message mapping

    Hi XI friends,
    in my idoc to file..
    i have number of segments..all segments are optional...
    i want to remove in resultanat xml file..
    please tell me how to remove if the values are not exsisted for that Segment ..
    i think its possible in message mapping..
    please guide me..
    Munna

    Hi Munna,
    Try Creating a UDF in your mapping name it like: "Create"
    Paste the below mentioned code in it
    ========================
    String str = a;
    if(str != null && str.length()>0)
    return "true";
    else
    return "false";
    ========================
    2) Save this function .
    3) Now Map like this
    (Source Node->UDF Create)->Check if it returns a string "true"--> if yes Map it with source node->add this in the "then" of an "if with out else"---->Target node.
    4) Test now in testing tool in Message mapping.
    Try it.
    it will work

  • Message Mapping error:  RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation

    Hi,
    Being new to XI, I am struglling to sort out a basic mapping error. Appreciate if you could help out.
    Its an File->XI->R/3 scenario.
    My FCC successfully reads the File and creates an XML. However this XML is not transferred to the target XML structure which is exactly same except the root element name is different at top.
    I tried various forum tips but I still am getting the error.
    ( When I Test the Message mapping in test mode..it seems fine, however if I copy the XML from SXMB_MONI, it then throws the above error)
    I looked at the MM in text mode: below is the extract
    /ns0:MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER=/ns0:MT_REQUEST/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER=
    /ns0:MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/SOURCE=/ns0:MT_REQUEST/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/SOURCE=
    /ns0:MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/DESTINATION=/ns0:MT_REQUEST/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/DESTINATION=
    /ns0:MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/MESSAGE_ID=/ns0:MT_REQUEST/REQUEST_DETAILS/MSG_HEADER/MESSAGE_ID=
    As seen the name space in both starts with nS0 and end of each line has '=' sign. Is that ok.
    I have run out of options and dont know , whats the problem. Please help.
    The target and Source XML structures are exactly same as shown below
    MT_REQUEST                                 MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP
       |__MSG_HEADER                            |__MSG_HEADER
         |__SOURCE                                |__SOURCE
         |__DESTINATION                           |__DESTINATION
         |__MESSAGE_ID                            |__MESSAGE_ID
    And the SXMB_MONI Trace shows the following error
    <Trace level="1" type="T">com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException: RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation:
    Cannot produce target element /ns0:MT_REQUEST_TO_SAP.

    Hi Prakasu,
    As structure are exactly same, I have done 1:1 mapping. So all the fields in target structure are mapped, so no field has beeen left.
    In this structure, I do not have any 1:n relation. So 1:1 mapping should be fine.
    Apart from this could teher be any other reason.

  • Problem in message mapping index.

    HI All,
    I am doing idoc to file scenario.
    I have a problem in message mapping.
    Issue is,
    pallet1
      palletheader(here i used counter to increment the value)
      palletline(here i used INDEX to increment the value)
            pallet linenumber1(it should be 1)
            pallet linenumber2(it should be 2)
    so on       )
    so on
    pallet2
      palletheader
      palletline
            pallet linenumber1(here again it should be 1)
            pallet linenumber2(here again it should be 2)
    so on              )
    so on
    In INDEX we have option called reset index in that we have two radio buttons
    one is "reset index to intial value with each new context"
    and next one is "donot reset index to intiak value"
    if i use the first radio button which is working fine in only one pallet and more pallet lines but not more than one pallet.
    If i use the second radio buttton which is working fine in more than one pallet but not satisfying the more pallet lines in one pallet.
    Can you please help me on the issue

    my requirement is like this.
    IF DELVRY05/IDOC/E1EDL20/E1EDL24/POSNR equals to /DELVRY05/IDOC/E1EDL20/E1EDL37/E1EDL44/EXIDV
    then map to 'pallet line' .
    I tried to keep posnr context as E1EDL20 and also IDOC level.
    And at the same way to EXIDV too.
    pallet(1 to unbounded)
       pallet header(1 to 1)
       pallet lines(1 to 1)
            in sub level  pallet line(1 to unbounded) (here i applied the index logic)
    The out put should be pallet line 1,2,3,----- so on
    In the second pallet the pallet lines should be again 1,2,3,4-------so on .
    But when i try to apply thsi logic,
    I am getting only one pallet line instead of two.
    second is not comming .
    please help on this i am facing this problem for the long time back.
    if i solve then i can complete my scenario.

  • Attachments deleted during message mapping in PI 7.1

    We have upgraded our SAP XI 3.0 SP 22 system to SAP PI 7.1 SP06. In XI 3.0 we created some message mappings that mapped an XML payload with attachments to another message type. The attachments would still exist after the mapping step. In SAP PI 7.1 we now see that attachements are deleted from the message. We cannot see why this is happening. We have tried to set the 3 new option in the operation mappings without any results. The attachements are still being deleted.
    Active Options in operation mappings:
        Use SAPXMLToolkit = true
        Do Not Resolve XOP includes = false
        Read Attachements = false
    In the SXMB_MONI we can see that the attachements are deleted after the Request Message Mapping step. It is a simple proxy-to-proxy scenario with interface and message mapping.

    Hi Michal,
    Already tried this option too. However this option would only transfer the attachments to
    the mapping runtime in JAVA. We only map the actual payload in a graphical message
    mapping, so for our purpose, the other attachments could stay untouched and remain
    in the abap part for further pipeline processing.
    You can find the result of the Read attachment option during runtime here:

  • Filtering of records in Message Mapping

    I am facing problem during filtering record in message mapping. My message comes from R3 and should be sent to one business service in entirety and should also be sent to another business service in part. To resolve this I created a message map for selecting record based on some conditions but this creates empty XML nodes wherever condition is not satisfied. Everything works fine but the scenario fails at the end while trying to convert XML to text using file adapter. The error is ‘Conversion configuration error: Unknown structure '' found in document', probably configuration error in file adapter (XML parser error)’

    Hi Rajesh,
    This scenario you are trying can be done using CONDITIONAL RECEIVER DETERMINATION and RB SPLIT, where you can basically have one sender and two receivers.
    To do this without using a BPM.
    1. Create your mapping program that will map the information from the source file
    into the destination idoc. This has to be a 1:N split. Just make sure that the destination message type and message interface are are of occurrence N.
    2. Also, you will have 2 destination interfaces and 2 interface mapping, one for the IDOC and one for the mail.
    Now, there are a few essential steps in your configuration,
    1. In the receiver determination, specify the 2 receiver systems, one for your IDOC and the other for your MAIL.
    2. Now, you will have a condition window. Just type the condition on the basis of which the receiver has to be determined for the mail and the idoc business system. Just remember that the condition can be specified only for the source message.
    3. In the Interface Determination, you have an option called RB CLASSIC and RB SPLIT. To do a 1:N split, you will have to do a RB_SPLIT.
    And since you wanted to covert the XML format to text format you require content conversion at the receiver adapter end, for that please go through these links below. It clearly explains your requirement.

  • GUID FormatExceptionError in End to End Scenario at runtime, but no error in Message Mapping test

    Hi Friends
    My scenario is Idoc to RFC and , my mapping is working fine and executing successfully in the message map tab but , it is failing in the End to End case at runtime with GUIDFormatException error, can anyone please help on this , I have searched the forum and no proper or concrete answers are available , creating a separate or new channel is not an option.

    Hi,
    Check in which step you are receiving this error
    1st check in SXMB_MONI/trace
    2nd If the above is successful then check in rwb/comm channel monitoring/receiver rfc channel.
    Regards

  • Message Mapping - connection time out

    Hi ,
    I hae just created a message mapping and when I click on Test tab and load a payload in source and try to test the mapping , it gives me connection time out error from java...
    What could be wrong ? Mapping involves an XML to IDOC .
    Cheers,

    Hello,
    I think so (Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong). Before, we had a scenario in which the external definition was about 960kb. It really did post issues when testing in the message mapping itself. There are three options:
    a.) Use less detail in your sample message mapping, in this way you can correct the error in the mapping itself.
    or
    b.) Test in operation mapping, and then do the correction in message mapping afterwards. If the testing is successful, make sure that you don't click the drop down icon. Instead, export the result as a zip file and then extract it. (if this hangs, go for c)
    or
    c.) Test at runtime
    Hope this helps,
    Mark
