Is my Visual Card damaged??!

Hello,
A couple of months ago I installed Windows 7 Premium on my I-Mac running Mountain Lion. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago, when I was using 3DS Max (the only reason I need Windows). The screen froze, went balck, then I got "Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered". It happened 5 times in a row, then I tried starting up in Mac, but only reached the Apple Icon screen, and it has blue speckles all over it.
I tried running the software scan, nothing. The only thing that works is the hardware scan (pressing D while starting) but the results come out with no problems.
This is as far as my Mac goes. It doesnt start beyond this point. It either stays on the apple icon screen or restarts itself.
Is my visual card damaged? Or is there a way to fix all this mess? Please help, I reaaally need to work.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Your graphic card is damaged, if the problem happens on both operating systems. You should know that Apple Hardware Test may fail during its tests, so it "may" be normal that it doesn't show any problem, and more when it's a graphic card-related problem (it doesn't test graphic cards).
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it repaired. If you have a Late 2009 or newer iMac, you have a removable graphic card, so the repair is much cheaper and easier

Direct input from musical instrument - will cause sound card damage?

I've recently upgraded from a 1gHz eMac to a 2.26gHz late-2009 Mac mini. Part of the reason for the upgrade was that I was having problems with audio input on the eMac, to cut a long story short, but obviously the eMac was getting unbearably slow and it was about time to upgrade.
My question is this: will recording into GarageBand with a direct line-in from my synthesiser keyboard damage the computer or its sound card?
If it helps, I'm using an external display and speaker set (obviously, being a Mac mini) whereas the eMac had an integrated display and speakers.

It shouldn't. Electronic instruments output a voltage that is close to the "line level" that typical household audio components use.
The worse thing that should happen is that you would get distortion, if the output of the synthesizer is too much for the mac's input. If that happens, either reduce the output of the synthesizer, or put a mixer between the synth and Mac, to give you control over the level reaching the Mac.

Droid Razr M SD Card Damaged?

I have owned my Razr M for (almost) a year, and within the last month I kept getting notifications saying my SD card has been "unmounted", when I have not touched the SD card. Within the last week, I am now getting an icon that says my SD card is damaged and needs reformatting. I also noticed that one of my camera folders is missing all the photos.
When I tap on the SD card error notification, it says all the data on my SD card will be deleted if I reformat. Is there any way I can retrieve these "missing" photos (approx. 190 of them) without having to delete everything on my card?
I have already powered the phone down, and removed the SD card and reinserted. I also went through a recent system update, not sure if this has anything to do with it?

When i go to Settings>Storage> and scroll to the SD card, it doesn't show
how much storage is available and doesn't allow me to click on anything to
check. The only options it gives me are "Mount SD Card", "Erase SD card".
Should I take my phone into a Verizon store to have them take a look at

Hoping someone can help. SD has not been touched or damaged but still get messages that it is damaged or temporarily removed. Then 4G disconnects and I have to power the phone off and then on to reconnect. But still get same messages. Anyone else having this problem?

Restoring pix on sd card damaged in MBP

Have a late 2010 MBP running 10.6.8
I have had this computer for over a year but have not even tried using the memory card reader slot until a few weeks ago. In those cases, I had to put the SD card in a few times before the disk image mounted on the desktop.
Tonight I tried putting the card in several times and nothing. Came onto the support communities for advice, blew compressed air into the slot, then inserted the SD card again.
This time, a disk image mounted on my desktop - but then an alert popped up that I had not ejected the card properly - and this may have caused damage to it.
(of course, the previous times I had put it in, I could not 'properly' eject it because there was no indication the computer had recognized it)
In any case, I opened IPhoto to read the SD card and it turns out a bunch of the later photos on the card had vanished - so clearly the card WAS damaged during those times I was inserting the card and THOUGHT the computer was not recognizing it.
My question is - is there a way to get the photos back? Some kind of software or something?
Even if not - I think its good to post this here as a warning that even if it SEEMS like a card is not mounting onto your MBP it actually may be.

This sounds to me like some flaky flash memory in your SD card causing all of the issues, including the delay or failure to mount, and the lost files. Putting it in and pulling it out probably exaserbated the issue.
I'm not aware of any easy fix for the missing data.
I will just point out that a lot of flash memory, especially cheap flash memory, can and will fail. It's probably not the fault of your Mac. The only way I know to restore such a thing would be to have taken action before the problem occured (like directory backups to help find the missing files).
In the future, I would recommend using good quality flash memory (in thumb drives/USB keys, SD cards, etc) if you're not already. Also, use those cards for temporary storage. Once you get the files off, don't expect to keep them stored on a flash device like an SD card.
...and make frequent backups!

Memory card damage

I damaged my memory card (small crack) when attempting to put it into my imac. Now the camara says "memory card error" and the imac will not recognize the memory card.
Is there any way to recover the photos?

Not if it's damaged and cannot be read.

Imac 27 graphics card damage / vertical lines

About 2 weeks ago, my iMac 27 "(mid 2011) stayed with vertical lines on the screen as seen in the pictures below.
Someone can help understand why the error is and what would be the solution.
The video card is an ATI Radeon 6970

Swedish carriers sell their phones carrier locked and do not offer official unlocking. So unless you want to use it in Sweden with the original carrier you may as well sell it to someone who can use it there.
Edit - I tell a lie, one of the carriers 3 do offer unlocking but not the others.

Tecra 8000: No memory area available to communicate with PC Card

I have a Tecra 8000 running Win98 SE and use a 3Com PCMCIA Card for my Internet Connection. I was troubleshooting my computer on another issue and in the process disabled the PCMCIA Toshiba ToPIC Cardbus Controllers. After enabling these again I am no longer able to communicate with the PC Card and therfore cannot connect to the Internet.
PC Card Troubleshooting Agent states: 'Windows is not able to identify or use the inserted PC Card Device because there is no memory area available to communicate with this device. You must make a memory area available before this device can be used. Check your computer's CONFIG.SYS file for a memory manager that is excluding upper memory regions between A000 and FFFF'.
My Cardbus Controllers are set as follows:
1.Memory Range - 0C000000 - 0C000FFF
2.Memory Range - 0C001000 - 0C001FFF
My PC Card (PCMCIA) Properties are as follows:
Card Services Shared Memory:
Start 000C0000
End 00FFFFFF
Length 00001000
Whilst the PC Card Modem is being recognised in the Port it cannot be communicated with and the error message is shown as follows:
'Error 666: The modem is not plugged in or is out of service. Connect a modem to your computer and try again'.
When I run Modem Diagnostics there is no response except for the following:
'Open Comm: Couldn't open port'

Hi Evan, I have had 2 PC cards damaged during bad thunderstorms in the past. Recently i helped someone to set up her Tecra8000 during another thunderstorm her new extension cable blew up silently! At first i didn't suspect it as the cable was brand new (cannot open port etc). Anyway, i tested the cable with a phone n it was dead and then i got a new extension cable for her from Argos the next day n it worked perfectly!
If ur card is broken then i suggest u get a Phonic PC card V.92 from PC World. It's only 14.99 n the connection speed is surprisingly fast 112.5k ! (I used to pay for 50 !) faster than my new fancy laptop, the internal modem can only connect at 44k !

PS I have since upgraded her laptop from Win98 to XP, it works rather well on the Tecra8000 (so far so good, she even managed to get her new printer working under XP without asking for my help!). if ur laptop meets the requirements, it MIGHT be worth considering upgrading it to XP.

4.3.3 no SIM card ???

After updating I cant use phone.
iPhone 4!!

Okay, so this was the most impressive thing it ever happened to one of my iDevices.
I've updated firmware lots of times, but never something like this happened.
Aperently, when I updated iPhone 4 from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3, I received error "No SIM card" after phone rebooted.
I tried removing sim card and re-entering, no sucess.
It asked me to activate the phone with a NO-PIN card. ( Oh Great! )
After a few reboots and hardware resets, I was ready to give up.
I tried to "Restore to factory Settings". ( Oh It's 4 AM ALREADY?? )
After many time, here we go again, No SIM card.
In a last desperation, I found another small SIM card that I had never used and from same carrier.
Let's try...What the....?? It works ??
Now, with the old card...No Sim Card ??
Okay, so today I went to the carrier representatives, that got me a new SIM card, with same phone number, and now, everything is back to normal with 4.3.3.
My question is ( they could not answer me this one ), was my SIM card damaged by the UPDATE ? I mean, I have the iPhone 4 for a few months, never messed with the SIM card and allways protected the iPhone as if it was my own SON, never had any problems, and now I update to a new firmware and after rebooting, the SIM card is DAMAGED ?
Don't tell me it was a coincidence. I don't belive that one. I've seen other people with similar problems here, I wounder if this update to fix bugs caused more damage than performance...
To anyone having this problem, get a new SIM card.

Having a horrible time with this hardware - VZW help very much appreciated

This post is in regards to the HTC Droid DNA, and details my current support dilemma with VZW. If a VZW rep could please read this and comment on a way to find a solution, or if any other users have been in a similar position, your advice would be appreciated.
It is no secret that there is a defect with the HTC DNA, which could otherwise be an excellent device. The problem: supposed firmware issues which cause the device's SIM card to dismount at random. Any calls to VZW will tell you that they released an update to fix the device. The problem: the success rate is very, very low. I suspect the problem is HTC's fault and not Verizon's, but I do feel it is up to Verizon to handle these issues with dignity.
I have this problem, to an extent that seriously makes this phone little more than an advanced paper weight. And with it being a device used primarily for work, to have the SIM card dismount upwards of 20 times a day is simply unacceptable. The device is defected, well documented, and very much experienced by a LARGE percent of the user base. Spend 5 minutes Googling and you'll see that there is no shortage of people experiencing this problem. The worst, is looking down at my phone only to find out that again, the SIM card is dismounted, and I'm not receiving work calls and people are becoming increasingly frustrated with me. Sometimes 1 reboot fixes it (for who knows how long), sometimes it has to be rebooted 4, 5, and even as much as 10 times to correct it. Sometimes you just keep rebooting and the issue never corrects itself. I've almost thrown it at the wall several times.
Now, here's my problem with Verizon.
They will replace the device with a refurb, but NOT FOR FREE if there is any visual physical damage to the phone. I had an idiot crack my screen about a week ago, and while I can understand why Verizon would have policies in place to fine individuals for returning broken phones (duh, that's probably why you want a warranty replacement), it is without question that a cracked screen has anything to do with this problem. It's a VERY well documented issue. A problem that I had before cracking my screen, and one that has becoming increasingly problematic, so much so that this thing isn't even a phone anymore.
I spoke with a Verizon rep who was happy to send me a refurb (what awesome service, I was thinking) but who at the last minute dropped on me the bit about any visual damage to the phone resulting in a non-refundable $299. The rep sympathized with me as she had the exact same problem with her DNA and had to have her phone replaced as well, but informed me that I was basically out of luck. Visual damage to phone once received by warehouse = $299, regardless of the fact that the nature of the return has nothing to do with the screen, and that it's very well understood that this is a manufacturer problem which has nothing to do with a cracked screen. Here's the kicker: I asked her if I could perhaps pay some sort of smaller fee for the broken screen - nope. I asked if I could take the phone to a professional to have the screen replaced, then send it in for replacement - nope. I asked if there was anything I could do to pay for the marginal damage of the screen crack - No, no, no.
This is absurd. I am not trying to cheat anyone but am left with no choice but to suffer with a defective device simply because Verizon does not care to make any sort of logical exception in this case. That is the epitome of poor customer service. There will always be exceptions, and a good company will recognize that and make sure their customers are cared for. If I did this with my customers, I'd be out of business. Too big to fail, I guess - the worst thing to happen to consumers.
Verizon needs to step up and take responsibility for selling a faulty device. I'd be happy to pay for the OEM parts to replace the screen assembly so that my device can be swapped with one that, you know, like works and all? Why can't this be arranged?

Having a working phone is definitely a must! I understand how frustrating this whole situation has been for you and I apologize for all the inconvenience.
You mentioned that the phone screen is cracked. Although this may have not caused the issues you are experience, it voids the warranty. If we replace the phone through the warranty you have to return your defective phone to us. Once the phone is received and physical damage is found, you are billed $299.99 for the device.

Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw wifi connection problem

Some days ago I bought new router Cisco RV 120W and HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw and
I thought the configuration of these devices will go without a problem. But NOT. I get tired of wireless printing, already the second day. I am unable to establish a wireless connection with Laserjet as infrastructure.I've tried everything, connect via USB, I installed the HP driver from a CD and even setup printer via Ethernet cable. I was able to connect to the printer ad-hoc but that's not what I mean. I need my printer in network as infrastructure.
My router provides 802.11n WPA2 PSK with AES. HP Driver Installer can not set parameters of my wireless network, It is allows me to enter the network key but can not find the printer later on wireless connections. I was able to set the parameters of the wireless network by connecting by Ethernet, the printer feeds in the report that the wireless is turned on, connected, pront correct the name of the network, signal strength, but it can not be installed on Windows.
My router shows the DHCP clients (laptops, iPhones) but can not see the printer. Does the printer have a wireless network card damaged? Already checked all the options on the router and I have no ideas.

I understand you are unable to setup the wireless on the printer.
Make sure the computer is on the right network.
Disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.
Restore the printer defaults.
On the printer select the setup button, right arrow to service menu, ok, right arrow to restore defaults, ok.
Print a configuration report to make sure there is no IP address and your network name. (SSID)
Go to the setup button (wrench) on the printer, right arrow to reports, select config report.
Now connect the ethernet cable from the printer to the router.
Wait about 1 minute and print the configuration page to get the IP address.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer try and access the embedded web server.
Type the IP address into internet explorer address bar.
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Now we can setup the wireless connection.
Click on the Networking Tab, on the left select wireless, fill out the information. Apply the settings, once you get a reply back then disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.
Should get a solid blue light on the printer.
Now run the add printer wizard.
If you are using Win 7, go to start, devices and printers, add printer, go through the wizard. Should find the printer and install the driver. If not then go to add printer, select local, select create a new port, click drop down and select TCP\IP, next, type in the printer's IP address. Continue the wizard.
Make sure the printer is online.
Test the wireless and see if you can now print.

Macbook sound skip through hdmi

Recently I have been connecting my late 2011 15" to my pioneer plasma tv using a Belkin thunder/hdmi adapter and hdmi cable.
Occasionally I take the set up to a friend’s house where there is a vizio, for some reason at home it plays music and movies perfectly. But when over my friend’s house the music and movies skip.
Do I need to upgrade my audio and visual cards?
Do I just need more ram?
The way is skips is almost as though its having trouble processing.
I’m pretty disappointed in either case, I just dropped almost 2 k in this thing and I cant get through a song with out a skip every 25 seconds or watch a movie that I just downloaded without it skipping every other scene.
Please help.

All my contacts have disappeared.

I was using my iPhone 4 for downloading Google talk (Talk Lite) app simultaneously downloading the same app I'm my ipad2. When I opens the app on my iPhone. I have permission to access my contacts. On iPad however the app could not access my contacts. Then I had to make a call with the phone, to my surprise when I opened contacts, it's totally empty. Want to know how to get all my contacts info back My mac is not with me so syncing is not possible.
Is there any other option?

Oh no! Let's ensure we get these contacts and pictures back! Was the SD card damaged? Are you able to place the SD card in the computer and see any of the pictures that you have taken?
