Is sth. like "JCO.Repository.getFunctionTemplate(String BAPI_NAME)" in NCo?

Hi guys,
I switched from JCo to NCo and try to find the same functions that are available under JCO.
My specific problem is this:
I integrated SAP in our applications using XML with JCo until now, e.g.
JCO.Function.getImportParameterList.fromXML(String myImportParameters)
This code snippet e.g. fills the parameters for my BAPI.
To have the correct XML input string, I organized me the structure of the parameter XML representation via
JCO.Function.getImportParamterList.toXML()
I got the function using
IFunctionTemplate ft = myRepository.getFunctionTemplate(bapiName.toUpperCase());
JCO.Function function = ft.getFunction();
XML has the very advantage, that you can pass any values inside the fields an thus use it in processes.
Now I'm looking for the same feature in NCo:
I want to specify the BAPI name in my little app and receive an XML representation of the needed Import/Export/Table parameters. But I couldn't find any method in the whole NCo class library to do this.
Can someone help me?

Well, I'll try my best. If nothing else works, I'll call my old JCo via some SOAP with the BAPINAME as parameter and let JCo return the XML representation
Thanks for the help!

  • JCo Repository "copy"

    Hello,
    I'm developing a RFC-Server with JCo.
    I would like to read (only once, at the beginning, when the server starts) the repository information of a function module and save them in a static Repository:
        static public class MyRepository extends JCO.BasicRepository
                implements IRepository {
            public MyRepository(String name) {
                super(name);
            public void FillMyRepository() {
                JCO.Client client = null;
                JCO.MetaData fmeta = null;
                fmeta = (MetaData) this.getFunctionInterface("HU_GET_RFC_DATA");
                if ( fmeta == null ) {
                    IRepository aRepository = null;
                    try {
                        client = JCO.createClient(
                                connClient,     // SAP client
                                connUser,       // userid
                                connPW,         // password
                                connLang,       // language
                                connHost,       // host name
                                connHostSyst ); // System number
                        client.connect();
                        aRepository = JCO.createRepository("aRepository", client);
                        IMetaData fInterface = (IMetaData) aRepository.getFunctionInterface("HU_GET_RFC_DATA").clone();
                        addFunctionInterfaceToCache( (MetaData) fInterface);
                        client.disconnect();
                    } catch (JCO.Exception ex) {
                        System.out.println("Caught an exception: n" + ex);
    but then the Server.getFunction doesn't work correctly.
    "JCO.Server could not find server function 'HU_GET_RFC_DATA'"
    Do you have any idea?
    Thanks and regards,
    Tommaso

    Hi Tommaso,
    as far as I know, the moment you create a new Function, it is automatically stored in the Repository.
    Every other call to this function ends in this function being retrieved from the JCO Repository. So I think as long as you create only one repository, any Function that you create (Function fx = createFunction("BLAHBLAH");) will be first put into the repository. Which means that only the first call to a Function might take a wee extra than later calls. You don't need to copy a Function into the repository explicitly in my opinion...

  • Creating an ABS like CVS repository for AEGIS

    We have finally got set up with our hosting solution for AEGIS and I am now looking at setting up an ABS-like CVS repository.  I'm not sure how possible this will be because it looks like the Arch CVS repo has four dedicated roots, whereas we have been assigned a module in the projects root (as I understand) it.  I imagine an ABS like approach might still be possible but I'll need some help understanding how the Arch repos have been structured vs "normal" CVS.
    I don't even know if we will be able to use CVSup or not?  As I understand it you need a cvsupd at the other end.
    My normal method of experimentation is kind of out here as we don't have demo cvs to play with...
    I have seen cactus' SVN version so if I can get an SVN repo maybe that would help.  Also I'm sure there are other ways to have an ABS like system without using CVSup?

    If we have have ABS integration then people can have easy access to PKGBUILDs to rebuild pkgs and we may even use the system in such a way that some pkgs are only available if you build them yourself.  This is especially true of the data and docs pkgs, which are huge and would be a real bandwidth sucker.  Keep them up to date would be an annoying pain too.  Basically it would just give us another option.  If we can intergrate with ABS then we can easily include scripts to checkout abs and build certain pkgs on request.
    As far as people using it - people may never even use the thing at all!  It's not worth considering that

  • Is there sth like jsf action param in jsp?

    Hi, in jsf u can make sth lika that:
    <h:commandButton value="testName" action="${test.testAction}"/>Is there somehow in jsp that i can run some action or set some attribute in bean?

    TAILS or TILES?
    You can use tiles within JSF-applications. There are numerous samples and how-tos for that.
    If reuse is the main-focus than custom components fulfill a similar role.

    That is one thing you could do, but no one else has any experience of exactly how your machine has been treated, and no one else can see the damage it has suffered. I recommend getting it fixed instead.

  • How to flush the cache of a JCO repository ?

    Does anybody now how to flush the cache of the JCO repositories of pools managed by Netweaver application server without restarting the JVM ?
    The reason I'm asking is that, whenever a tables or structure changes on ABAP side (CRM,  IS-U, R/3), even though we redeploy the J2EE applications, they do not see the new definitions, and we have to restart the JVMs.
    This is particularily annoying in an "high availability" production environment such a ours.
    We need a close to 24/7 up time, and putting down the JVM for even a few minutes is becoming a problem.
    I'd like to be able to manually flush the repositories when needed.
    For example, is it possible to write a small java application that could perform the flush on a single request ?
    I did not try writing any code to do so yet, but I guess this snippet can do the work:
    IRepository rCRM = JCO.createRepository("FLUSH_CRM", "java:comp/env/eis/pool_crm")
    while (rCRM !=null)
       String [] crmFuncts  = rCRM.getCachedFunctionInterfaces()
       String [] crmStructs = rCRM.getCachedStructureDefinitions()
       for (int i=0; crmFuncts!=null && i<crmFuncts.lenght; i++)
          rCRM.removeFunctionInterfaceFromCache(crmFuncts<i>);
       for (int i=0; crmStructs!=null && i<crmStructs.lenght; i++)
          rCRM.removeStructureDefinitionFromCache(crmStructs<i>);
       rCRM = rCRM.getNextRepository();
    Does it ?

  • How can I do sth like this ${requestScope.list.size} ?

    Hi, I have 2 attributes which I pass like this
    requsest.setAttribute("startPoint", 3);
    request.setAttribute("myList", myList);
    where myList is a ArrayList filld with objects. On jsp page I want to count 2 values first and last number:
    <c:set var="firstNumber" value="${requestScope.startPoint+1}"/> - this works fine.
    <c:set var="lastNumber" value="${requestScope.startPoint+requestScope.myList.size}"/> - this is impropper.
    How can I use as integer size of list which is passed as request attribute. Is this possible?
    I would appreciate any hepl.

    Hang on. For such things you can build your own EL functions - it is very easy and involves only 4 steps.
    1. Write a class containing a method (must be static) to calculate size of any list.
    [Put the class in /WEB-INF/classes, so your file will reside as /WEB-INF/classes/myfunctions/MyFunctions.class]
    package myfunctions;
    import java.util.List;
    public class MyFunctions{
         public static int getListSize(List list){
              return list==null?0:list.size();
    }2. In your taglib add an entry (in case you don't have already create one) for the EL function:
    [Say our taglib is mytags.tld in /WEB-INF]
    <taglib xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
         xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
         xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
      http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-jsptaglibrary_2_0.xsd"
         version="2.0">
         <tlib-version>1.0</tlib-version>
         <short-name>MyTagLib</short-name>
         <function>
              <description>List Size</description>
              <name>size</name>
              <function-class>myfunctions.MyFunctions</function-class>
              <function-signature>int getListSize(java.util.List)</function-signature>
         </function>
    </taglib>3. Now in your JSP add following line to use your new EL function:
    <%@taglib uri="/WEB-INF/mytags.tld" prefix="mt"%>4. And use as:
    <input type=text value="${mt:size(requestScope.myList)}" />Note that there no issues using JSTL EL functions. My intention is to resolve your problem and at the same time to give you a glance how to write and use your own EL functions (might be useful in future).

  • Can sth like this be done?

    Hi All,
    I am converting from forms 4.5 to 6i.
    Somewhere in the block i found a for loop that has been written like this:
    for i in :control_block.first_item..:control_block.last_item loop
    end loop;
    (The error message reads like "bad bind variable 'Control_block.first_item'")
    I checked those items and they are inside the control_block.
    Any idea on why the error is showing up will be highly appreciated.....
    Cheers,

    Try putting the value of the control_block.first_item in som evariable
    v1 := :control_block.first_item;
    v2 := :control_block.last_item;
    for i in v1..v2 loop
    end loop;

  • JCO Call

    Hi,
    What is JCO Call. What are the methods there in the JCO Call. Explaine me with an example.
    Thanks
    Koteswara Rao

    Hi,
    JCO stands for JavaConnector and was originally developed by Arasoft.It is really meant for communication between ABAP stack and JAVA stack.When a NW JAVA stack communicates with ABAP stack inturn it does it thru JCO.
    It has many methods in its JCO library.To get an idea you can see the following sample code-In which a BAPI is being called from JAVA environment.
    import com.sap.mw.jco.*;
    public class CallFunction extends Object {
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              CallFunction app = new CallFunction();
         int count;
         JCO.Client mConnection;
         JCO.Repository mRepository;

         public CallFunction() {

    Hello,
    We used JCo in  weblogic app server environment and used jvm (jrockit) provided by JVM. Its seems like there are some issues when we use jco with jrockit jvm. So using another jvm (Sun's jvm ) resolved our issue.
