Is there a feature to apply all caps to a word, sentence, or paragraph?

is there a feature to apply all caps to a word, sentence, or
paragraph? if i have a sentence written and i want to make all the
letter capital, is there a setting or one click solution to do
this? thanks

Wow, thanks for pointing that out Senocular. To think I've
been copying and pasting text in and out of alternate applications
all these years to achieve that.

  • Is there a way to apply all adjustments to a clip when using green screen effects?

I use imovie '11 and I shoot a lot of videos using a green screen. Once I import my videos into imovie, I then place a background image into the project and then I drag the video clip over the background and select green screen. I usually then have to crop the clip so I am centered within the frame, and I also have to adjust the colors manually since sometimes with a greenscreen the colors can be a bit off.
My problem is this, how can I apply all video adjustments that I made to one clip, to all the other clips without having to do each one manually?
Currently when I crop a clip and edit the colors, then I copy it and go to paste adjustments, 'video' and 'video effect' are grayed out, however, it lets me do all the others. Does imovie not let you paste video effects to other clips that are in green screen mode? I tested it with two regular clips that are not in green screen mode and it works fine.

As always there's a trick using copy and paste.
Once you got all the adjust correct on the first clip. Go to Edit > Copy. It's as though you were going to paste it back into the project, only now the trick is to highlight all the clips that also will need these same adjustmust (hold down the Command key, and just click on each one). Then go Edit > Paste Adjustments...>All. That wil apply each of the adjustments to the whole batch of video clips you had highlighted in the previous step.

  • Wanted: document text headers in All Caps, but in TOC Sentence Case. How?!

We have headers in our document that need to be appear within the document body as all caps. When referencing them in the TOC using a different paragraphs style created specifically for the TOC, we need it to appear Sentence Case. Is there a way to do this?
    InDesign CS5 7.0
    Windows XP SP3

Joel gives you the right solution, ^.
Also consider that you can manipulate TOC entries by implanting invisible alternate headers on your pages. I've done this when I want the visible headers to be more descriptive, or "wordy," than the TOC entries need to be. For instance, (and this is just a silly example for certain), let's say you've got a header: "Why tie your shoes when Velcro is so quick and easy?" That may be long enough to foul the desired structure of your TOC, so you could put an alternate header on the same page; something like, "Laces vs. Velcro" and set its character color to none. With invisible headers and strategic paragraph style assignments, you can manipulate TOC entries any way you like.

  • Is there a way to apply all the font styles before importing the file

    Hi,
I've some text as below in a text file that needs to be imported into InDesign.
    "Law of Civil Procedures"
And in InDesign this is to be made bold. I want to know if there is a way to make it bold directly and then import it into InDesign, I'm asking this as I have approximately 200 pages that needed with all the font styles applied. This would be very helpful if i can first apply the font styles and then import it into InDesign.

    Hi Salah,
Thanks for your Answer. I'm completely new to indesign, i'm basically an XSLT Developer. My question in brief is as below.
We have to make books in InDesign, and the content we receive would be in XML Format and also an RTF file is given with same content, what we do currently is copy and paste the text in InDesign document and start formatting te content accordingly. But we are having huge volumes like more than 6000 pages and similarly we are having 8-12 vilumes, i want to know if we can get the styles directly in InDesign and start working on  them.
For eg: we have the below content
    <para style="left"><num style="bold">1(1)</num>   <b>[Short title and commencement]</b></para>
Here there should be a para created and the number should be bold. I'm really unable to understand how to do it. please help me with this. And also our vendors need the IDML file along with the PDF. please let me know how i can do this.
Also please suggest me some good tutorials regarding this.
    Thanks.

  • Are there any scripts to change all Caps locked items to bold?

I'm new to this program...like, 5 minutes in to using it. I make typesetted catalogs, where there are 850 or so "lots," that all have Caps locked titles. These titles also have to be in all bold. Is there any easy to take my existing text, & make it bold (like a Find/Change)?

I presume you mean the text was typed in with the caps lock key on so it is all uppercase. There are a number of ways to do this, but which to use depends on waht you have. Do these headings have a style assigned to them? They should, and if they do all you need to do is edit the style definition to use Bold. If not you can do it with Find/Change and GREP, but we need to know if there is any punctuation and whether there is any other text inthe same paragraph, or if the titles stand alone. A screen capture would help, (and take it with non-printing characters visible, please). You can embed it in a post using the camera icon on the web page like this:

  • Changing to all caps

new to pages, so bare with me if this is a stupid question, but i can't find a way to change a string of text to be all text. in micro-soft word there is a button in the toolbar that you click and all the text you have highlighted will turn to all caps. can anyone help?

Use either Format > Font > Capitalization > All Caps or install the free WordService by Devon Technologies.
I wish to write that in fact, only the use of WordService gives a correct result.
Using Format > Font > Capitalization > All Caps doesn't change the characters, it just changes the way they are displayed.
If you copy a group of characters treated with this menu item then paste into TextEdit, you will get lowercase characters.
Its exactly the same behavior than the use of a format applied to number cells or date_time ones.
A cell which display 12:34:56 contains in fact 12 janv. 2008 12:34:56 if it was entered the 12 janv. 2008.
A cell which contain 123.6789 may be displayed as:
    123.6789
    123.679
    123.68
    123.7
    124
    All these displays are perfect.
With computer we must always remember that what we see is not exactly was is stored.
It depends of the applied format.
Back to Word processor, we may apply "All caps", "Small caps" or "Title". The display will change but the contents remains unchanged.
It's completely different of what we where accustomed to with AppleWorks which changed the contents itself when we asked it to apply the format "UPPERCASE".

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

  • Is there a way to apply the same transition between all clips?

Or is there a way to apply random transitions? Either way I'm too lazy to drag a transition between every clip and hope there's a bulk way I haven't found yet. I'm using iMovie HD 6.0.2 (267).
    Thanks!
    --Daniel

    Daniel,
To apply the same transition between all clips, select all the clips, select the transition (and timing) then click ADD (at the bottom right of the transitions screen). The transitions will be rendered, one at a time between all the clips. If you wish to change the transition, again select the required clips, select the new transition, then click UPDATE.
I'm not aware of any way to apply random transitions.

  • Can I apply one .css stylesheet to all of my linked word documents inside my RoboHelp8 HTML project?

    Hello all,
I am on my fourthRoboHelp8 HTML project, after the other three crashed. I am a technical writer constructing my companies Policy and Procedures Guide. I am only 142 (word documents) and 9 (RoboHelp topics) into my project and there will be plenty more to come. I recently took Kevin Siegel's RoboHelp8 class where I determined that it would be best if I link all of my word documents inside of the Project Manager becuase I will be constantly updating these documents. I've searched around the Adobe Forums, talked to Kevin, and talked to my IT Department, but I cannot seem to find an answer for my problem.
I have linked all of 142 word documents inside of the Project Manager, and all 142 word documents have their own .css stylesheet. I have assigned the default.css stylesheet (which I have assigned all of the proper formatting to headings 1-4 to match headings 1-4 inside of my Microsoft Word 2007 documents) under Project Settings under the Import tab. I also assigned this default.css stylesheet under WebHelp Pro. My understanding with applying the default.css stylesheet to these two places is that all of my word documents and topics should have this stylesheet applied to them.
However, when I look at each individual linked word document the default stylesheet has not been assigned and the word document is still being dictated by its own stylesheet i.e. Credit.css. On my third project, before it crashed, I manually went through all 142 word documents in the Project Manager and assigned the default.css stylesheet to them. I did this by right clicking on the topic, under Appearance, I changed the stylesheet i.e. Credit.css to default.css and clicked apply. I was immediately prompted with the two options: "Preserve modifications to this file" or "Don't show me this message again." I tried both options. The first applied the default.css stylesheet and removed the Credit.css stylesheet, but when I made a change inside of my word document and updated it inside of the Project Manager none of my changes appeared. The second did not apply the default.css stylesheet and kept my Credit.css stylesheet applied to my word document. When I made a change inside of my word document and updated it inside of the Project Manager the change appeared.
I talked about this to Kevin and he said that the individual stylesheet applied to each linked word document did not mean anything, essentially that by making the default.css stylesheet the dominant stylesheet under Project Settings under Import that the stylesheet would be applied to all of my linked word documents/topics. He also suggested that I make a change to the stylesheet like change the color of Heading 1 and link a new word document to see if it applied the changes. I tried doing this inside of my third project, but nothing changed.
I would like to know if I can assign one stylesheet to all of my linked word documents before I get too far into the fourth project and have that project crash on me too. One of RoboHelp's appealing features is to apply one stylesheet to multiple topics, or in my case 142 word documents and 9 topics. I hope that I can apply one stylesheet to all of these linked word documents because having 142 individual stylesheets is unmanageable.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Roxxanne

When a word document is imported into RoboHelp project, RoboHelp generates a separate stylesheet for each word document as each word document may have its own formatting styles. In a generic scenario, word documents may be brought from different sources and may have different styling. Hence, RoboHelp allows users to preserve different styling through sepearate stylesheets.
However, for a different scenario like yours, RoboHelp allows users to override all the CSS and apply a single CSS to all the topics at the generation of output. As you have already mentioned that you have applied default.css in the WebHelp Pro SSL dialog, that should suffice and should meet your requirement of applying a single CSS to all the topics. You can verify the same at your end by linking few word files and generating the output with a single CSS applied in the SSL settings.

  • Change small caps to all caps (was: Scripting help)

    Hi All
I am working with an ID script in CS3 and I am trying to write some script (to add to an exsiting scipt that I am using) that will change small caps to all caps for some ID documents I am converting.
Sorry it's probably very easy to do but I'm fiarly new to using scipts!
Thanks for any help with this.

    Hi All
Sorry as I said I'm new to using and writing scripts!
The script (Java script) I am using was supplied to me by someone else and I am mainly just tweaking it.
The script is being used to mainly find character and paragraph styles and change them from one style to another.
As I have a lot of files with quite a few different styles to change the script is saving heaps of time.
The small caps that I am trying to change are in a character style and I need to if possible change them to normal caps that isn't a character style in most circumstances although there are places where they need to be a certain bold or italic character style.
The script is mainly using GREP search to find and change the various character and paragraph styles and the script I have tried so far is:
    grep
    {appliedCharacterStyle:"Chapter Small Caps (A+B)"}
    {appliedStyle:"All Caps"}
    {includeFootnotes:true, includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, wholeWord:false}
Apply body Text Indent para Style to all.
The small caps need to be changed in several different character styles.
I hope this makes it a bit clearer what I'm trying to do

  • Apply all won't apply all

I resized my project and rescaled the objects, highlights, and text boxes. Now my font sizes are all over the place. Some fonts in my captions are 10pt, some font sizes are 9pt. I need everything to be 10pt. When i go to apply to all Caption types, only the properties that changed, it only changes the one caption. Any help for Chicago in Va?
    I am using Captivate 4

    Hi there
I'm not sure this function works for Font sizing. For what it's worth, I've always known the Apply to All feature to be a bit on the sketchy "hit and miss" side. Actually, I believe this is largely the reason for what I'm about to suggest.
If you are trying to influence a change overall, I might suggest investigating using the Design Template feature of Captivate. Basically, you click File > New > Project, click the Create tab and choose Design Template. You then get to configure different objects.
Save that and re-open your project. Now you apply the template by editing a slide (for some reason Edit view must be present - you can't get there from Storyboard view). Click Window > Design Template to view the panel listing the design templates. Select your template (it should already be in the list) then choose the appropriate action (Apply or Apply or Apply All.

  • Yellow boxes behind all caps text

I had a Quark 6 Mac file converted to ID CS3 Win using Q2ID and when I opened it I replaced the fonts with our own, however wherever the text had the all caps feature used in Quark (I guess) there are yellow boxes behind the letters. I can get rid of them only by selected the text and clicking off the All caps (TT button).
Is there another easier way to keep them as all caps and get rid of yellow boxes?

You have highlight substituted glyphs enabled in your composition

  • Puh-LEEZE! Don't Use All Caps!

It's considered bad form to use all caps on the intarweb...
    There are some exceptions...
    "OK"
    "PT" (boo, hiss)
    ...and other acronyms...
    ...for occasional emphasis...
...occasionally applied to a few words in a post to indicate that you're totally stressed out. We here at the forum understand, and we can be your Logic shoulder to lean on ("there there... there there...", "awww baby, mommy loves you", and so on). However, exceeding socially acceptable limits of said capslock latitude will result in our collectively taunting you in an effort to drive you completely over the edge; the theory here is that after your breakdown you'll likely revert back to your normal typing ability.

  • Mac keep automatically changing ALL CAPS to lower case in Pages.

MacBook Pro automaticaly changes all CAPS to lower case in Pages. It will automatically revert and I can't make the CAPS stay, regardless if I hold 'shift' and type or press the 'caps lock' key. Is there a setting where I can disable this feature?

You have not said where you are copying this from but it sounds like what you have is text that is styled by CSS on a web page or ATSUI (Apple's typographic type engine) to appear ALL CAPS.
The actual text is actually U&lc or lowercase.
    You can restyle it using:
Menu > Format > Font > Capitalization > All Caps
