Is there a limitation of 1024 points graph plotted using for Trend Tags.vi (DSC)

I am using LabVIEW 6.1 and DSC 6.1. When I display a Trend graph captured using 'Trend Tag.vi' the graph with more than 1024 points, the X-scale max reverts back to 1023. I am not using any autoscale.

The Real-Time Trend control from the DSC control palette is a "regular" LabVIEW Waveform Chart with a chart history length of 1024 values.
Right click on the Real-Time Trend and go to "Chart History Length..." and increase the number as you wish.
Currently, there is no way to programmatically change this history length. But (I think) National Instruments is aware of this suggestion.

It helps when you tell us that you upgraded both your OS and Pages, which it appears you have done.
Possibly even changing your Mac or iOS device. Which is it btw?
Probably you have a new Pages which has only a fraction of the templates, because it has a fraction of the features.

Is there any limitations in Finder when copying files using clipboard?

One day I was moving my photos from one folder to another and accidently discovered that not all of my files are copied!
What I was doing (I'm using Finder):
- Go into folder
- Cmd+A to select all files
- Cmd+C to copy them into clipboard
- Cmd+V to paste them in new location
Every folder contain about 10k files, but (I did some checks) copy operation copied only 2-3k. Every time different amount.
It was so unexpected!
Does anybody know what does it mean??

There is no clipboard limit that I'm aware of. I have copied folders containing tens of thousands of files with no problem. Seems like a bug in the OS.
Just a question, why are you copying your files when you could just drag&drop them from one folder to the other?

Can I use Intel 815EP AGP 4X Pentium and plug in 5 Nos NI 6002 PCI counter Timer cards, instead of going for expensive PXI based solution? Hope there will be no degradation in performance - when used for constructing an Energy Meter test Bench.

Is there possible to specify the source ip address used for Radius

I have a cat6509 configured to talk to Radius server (ACS), as I understood that the IP address used by Cat6k to talk to ACS is by using the nearest interface ip, can i explicitly specify the source address used by Cat6k in this case ?

I am not clear whether you are asking about talking to Radius from the switch or from the MSFC? If it is from the MSFC you are correct that by default it will use as source address the address of the outbound interface. On the MSFC you can use the command: ip radius source-interface to specify what address to use.
On the switch I think that it will source its packets to Radius using the management/console IP address rather than the outbound interface. So no command is needed to specify the source interface.

Can a waveform graph be used without for loop

i would like to know if a waveform graph can be used without a for loop and if so, how? I tried using a while loop only, but the reading becomes too fast.

Dear nebb,
first of all, graph is usually an offline plot of the acquired data but to use it as an online display u need to use build arrays in for/while loop which keeps on adding new points & plots in waveform graph.
I am including a vi which incorporates a while loop in which by using build array, points keep on increasing & simultaneously they are plotted in the waveform graph.
Using for or while loop, it has no concern with speed. it depends on the code inside the loop which makes them faster or slower.
For making slow readings, you can put some delay inside while looping.

If you are aware that these are the field exit funciton modules that get created when you create a field exit for the corresponding data element.
Hence there will not be any replacement for this FM, But you need to find where the data element is triggering(the tcode) and check in debugging if there is any BADI/Enhancement Point.
Hence check for which data element the FM belong to using the program RSMODPRF and check if they are globally activated, then they trigger on all the screen/transactions..(Tedious to replace with BADi/Enhancemnet points everywherre)
If the field exit is activated for screens, check to which transaction the screens belong to and then check for enhancement point or badi that trigers on the screen..

Is there a linear equation VI that I can use for inputting the coefficients with variables attached to them? I am currently studying elec engineering and am in the thick of transient analysis. It is very time consuming figuring the mesh and nodal analysis in the transform domain. With 3 branches in a mesh analysis the resistors, inductors and capacitors are represented with variable s in them. I need to determine in the transform domain then convert to the time domain. One equation goes like this: (3+2s+1/4s)i1s - (2s)i2s - (1/4s)i3s = 6/s -6. The other equations are similar. I must keep the variable s in the equation and solve it with s in the result. I made several VIs for determining simultaneous linear equations some for complex numbers and they work great. This one has me a little stumped. I thinking that maybe Labview doesn't have a VI for this. The other VIs were fine because you just plugged in the numbers and ran the VI and got your result. Any VIs that do LaPlace transform operations?

Hello Tom,
You can find a VI for doing Laplace transforms in Functions->Analyze->Signal Processing->Frequency Domain (this VI is only available in the Full and Professional versions).

Why don't Grapher's Frame Limits work correctly with saved Grapher files using multiple equations on Mountain Lion?

I generally enjoy using Grapher in OS X (I am using Mountain Lion v10.8.2). However, I have repeatedly encountered what seems to be broken basic functionality in setting the limits on the display frame (View> Frame Limits…). When opening saved Grapher files with multiple valid equations in them (equations which include constant terms defined as sets of numbers), I repeatedly get the following behavior:
1. Frame limits are not correctly saved. As in, the file opens with a different view than it was saved and closed in.
2. Frame limits no longer work as expected. For example, I might set the Y axis frame limits to be -2 to 2, but the Y axis of the frame display will run from about -1.95 to about -0.35.
3 Performance is degraded. Making a change to the frame limits (for ecxample, changing the Y frame limits to -2.2 and 5 in an attempt to display something approximating the range -2 to 2) take an inordinate amount of both processor time and clock time. The spinning ball appears and hangs out far longer than is welcome, and at times seems to hang requiring a force quit of Grapher.
These problems occur regardless of coordinate system.
Is there a solution? If I create a new file and start from scratch the problems reappear. The problems reappear across a wide range of 2D equation types.
Is Grapher simply broken in this regard?

When modifying the main 2D window size, the graph length and height already formatted (menu Format) are changed : axis scale values stay the same, added objects remain same size on the same places (unit pixel) relative to the graph left upper corner ; but the graph view changes for the ratio H/L do so : very annoying !
                    The remedy : To restore the 2D graph after changing the window size : menu Format > Layout > Size > redo the initial choice (paper size or L and H values)… or avoid having to do so by selecting a window large enough to begin with.
                    Proposed correction : making the graph size independent of the main window’s one.
          Bug nr. 2. (Grapher 1.1, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3). Saving is wrong in 2D (menu File > Save, Save as, Save a copy as). Are not seved : the last location on the screen of the main window, the graph size, the maximum and minimum values of the ordinate scale : very very annoying !
                    Note : The new windows of Grapher 1.1 (Grapher secondary window > New Graph > 2D or 3D Graph) always open in the same place on the screen( OS X 10.4.11 configured in French) depending on the language used by Grapher : if it’s English, well placed and covering most of the screen, if it is French, the windows are half length but same height and are located on the right side of the screen. This anomaly disappeared with Grapher 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 (English or French).
                    The remedy : to restore the 2D graph after opening a GCX files (.gcx) : menu Format > Layout > Size > redo the initial choice (Paper size or L and H values) to be done twice ; then menu View > Frame limits... > enter minimum and maximum vaues of the y scale. This requires to note four numerical values, L, H, y-min, y-max, for example at the top of the equation list (or at the bottom : see bug nr. 27).
                    Proposed correction : complete saving in 2D.

Is there a limitation of characters in a String variable in 8.0.2?

Is there a limitation of characters in a String variable?
I'm trying to create an email within my script and when I paste my text into my parameter, which is a String variable, it will only paste up to 80 characters (including spaces).
In 7.0 I was able to paste my paragraphs and the larges paragraph had 346 characters (including spaces).

Ah.... that's it.
I modified the value of the parameter within the script and added the text that I needed. I added the following:
"To transfer the file over to the router's flash you will need an TFTP or FTP program. Start your application and make sure that the default directory is pointed to the directory where you copied the greeting. Now log into the router that needs to be updated. Once you are in the router issue one of these commands:"
It accepted it and was able to use the entire value. So it must be the web page that will not allow me to enter more then 40 characters.
Do I need to get this submitted as a bug?

Is there any limitation on field size that can be defined in Idoc segments

Hi all,
I have extended a standard Idoc type and in my extended segment I have defined four fields GUID (char32), info1 (char255) , info2(char255) , info3(char255).
This is a total of 797 bits which is well within EDIDD-sdata(char1000). But I am not able to put more than 132 characters in either info1, 2 or 3.
Is there any limitation on this ?

I personally feel this error is not due to limitations but it might be due to the IDOC extension you had made and hence the default settings.
Could you please try doing this -
Note: Users require an authorization in order to carry out the procedure.
The following correction is carried out with a fictitious attribute: 'info'.
a) Call Transaction SE11.
b) Enter the attribute name into the 'Domain' field, followed by '' (wildcard). For example: info
c) The system displays the following hit list:
info1
info2
info3
d) Select the first domain and choose 'Change'
e) Correct the number of characters. Forexample:
Numberof characters 255
f) Activate this domain
Assign points in case this helps.

There are no practical limits to nested SELECTs, but as other repliers have already pointed out they quickly become a performance hog. I have stopped using them for years, and when I teach ABAP performance classes I also quote them as one of the top "don'ts". With nested selects, the number of calls to the DBMS can easily become enormous, putting the database server under stress.
A good alternative - the one I favour most myself - is to use SELECT INTO TABLE for the"outer" select, followed by appropriate SELECT FOR ALL ENTRIES statements to handle the inner levels.
ABAP joins are another alternative. When properly written, a join will be faster than a nested select. The problem is however that very often joins are not properly written. SELECT statements should always respect the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid) and with a join it is very easy to violate that rule. A join over 2 tables should probably be OK, but with 3 or more tables you want to be very careful. If you really want to code a complex join, I recommend that you also code the same logic with different means (INTO TABLE/FOR ALL ENTRIES or even nested selects) and then compare that with the join. By the way: don't just compare the performance, also make sure that the two return the same data. You wouldn't be the first to code a really fast join which unfortunately returns incorrect results.
